ABSTRACT
Resumen Introducción: El síndrome de burnout es un fenómeno social y ocupacional reconocido por la OMS, frecuente en el área de la salud. Se caracteriza por baja realización personal, agotamiento emocional y despersonalización, afectando el desempeño profesional y estrategias de afrontamiento. A pesar de la relevancia del tema, es insuficiente la información disponible que permita visualizar la magnitud del problema con cifras reales en Colombia y, en especial, en el área de cardiología. Objetivo: Determinar la prevalencia del síndrome de burnout y las características sociodemográficas de médicos que realizan especialización en cardiología y cardiólogos en Colombia. Materiales y método: Estudio observacional, analítico, de corte transversal, realizado en Colombia mediante la aplicación de una encuesta virtual autodiligenciada dirigida a médicos que cursan especialización en cardiología y a cardiólogos. La primera parte de la encuesta obtuvo datos sociodemográficos-económicos y la segunda parte aplicó el cuestionario de Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), herramienta validada para evaluar síndrome de burnout. Resultados: En total se realizaron 207 encuestas; 145 médicos contestaron la primera parte, 67.59% eran hombres, la edad media fue 40.8 años, 64% de los cardiólogos y 79% de los estudiantes consideran que no tienen tiempo suficiente para realizar otras actividades diferentes a la medicina (p = 0.18). Al aplicar MBI, las dimensiones más afectadas son agotamiento emocional, baja realización personal y despersonalización. Al comparar cardiólogos y estudiantes, los segundos tienen mayor proporción de compromiso en las tres dimensiones. Teniendo en cuenta las dos dimensiones más afectadas, 61.72% de los cardiólogos y 81.57% de los estudiantes de cardiología tienen alta puntuación de síntomas sugestivos de síndrome de burnout. Conclusión: La prevalencia del síndrome de burnout en estudiantes de cardiología y cardiólogos incluidos en la encuesta descrita, es alta y amerita la realización pronta de estrategias que busquen retirar o mitigar factores que se asocien a mayor riesgo de presentar esta condición, que impacta directamente en el desempeño profesional y la calidad de vida de los médicos.
Abstract Introduction: Burnout syndrome is a social and occupational phenomenon recognized by the WHO, and common in healthcare. It is characterized by low personal accomplishment, emotional exhaustion, and depersonalization, affecting professional performance and coping strategies. Despite the relevance of the topic, there is insufficient available information to visualize the magnitude of the problem with real figures in Colombia, especially in the field of cardiology. Objective: To determine the prevalence of burnout syndrome and the sociodemographic characteristics of cardiology students and cardiologists in Colombia. Materials and method: Cross-sectional analytical observational study conducted in Colombia through the application of a self-completed virtual survey made to cardiology students and cardiologists in Colombia. The first part of the survey collected sociodemographic and economic data; in the second part was applied the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) questionnaire. Results: A total of 207 surveys were conducted, 145 physicians answered the first part, 67.59% were men, the mean age was 40.8 years old, 64% of the cardiologists and 79% of the students consider that they do not have enough time to perform other activities not related to medicine (p = 0.18). When applying MBI, the most affected dimensions in the physicians surveyed are emotional exhaustion followed by low personal accomplishment and finally depersonalization. Comparing cardiologists and cardiology students, students have the highest proportion of compromise in all three dimensions. Taking into account the two most affected dimensions, 61.72% of the cardiologists and 81.57% of the cardiology students have a high score of symptoms suggestive of a diagnosis of burnout syndrome. Conclusion: The prevalence of burnout syndrome in cardiology students and cardiologists included in the described survey is high, this warrants the early implementation of strategies that seek to remove or mitigate factors that are associated with a higher risk of presenting this condition, which directly impacts the professional performance and quality of life of health professionals.

RESUMEN Introducción: La pandemia por Covid-19 trajo muchos retos en salud mental de los profesionales de salud, y el síndrome de burnout (SB) fue uno de los padecimientos con mayor prevalencia en los trabajadores de la salud. Así mismo, durante este periodo se pudo observar un aumento del consumo de alcohol y/o cannabis para afrontar las dificultades ocasionadas por la pandemia. Objetivo: Conocer la prevalencia del SB y el consumo de alcohol y cannabis y la relación entre el SB y los tipos de consumo de alcohol después del Covid-19 en trabajadores de la salud. Materiales y métodos: El diseño de este estudio fue descriptivo correlacional. La muestra estuvo conformada por 84 trabajadores de salud elegidos por un muestreo por conveniencia. El análisis de los datos se realizó a través de proporciones, intervalos de Confianza del 95 %, Chi2 de Pearson y correlación de Spearman. Resultados: Se encontró que los trabajadores de salud presentaron niveles moderados altos de síndrome de Burnout; el trabajador que laboró en área Covid-19 presentó porcentajes mayores en las categorías del SB; el 31 % presentó un nivel de cansancio emocional alto; el 20.2 % un nivel de despersonalización alto y el 25 % un nivel bajo de realización personal. Respecto al uso de sustancias psicoactivas, tampoco se encontraron diferencias significativas, no obstante que los trabajadores que estuvieron en área Covid-19, el 64.3 % refirieron consumir alcohol y el 33.3 % cannabis. En cuanto al tipo de consumo de alcohol, se encontró que el 36.9 % presentó un consumo sensato, el 26.2 % un consumo dependiente y el 36.9 % un consumo perjudicial. Así también el tipo de consumo de alcohol perjudicial se correlacionó significativamente con el nivel de cansancio emocional (p >.05). Conclusiones: lo cual indica que los trabajadores que tienen un mayor cansancio emocional, también tiene un tipo de consumo de alcohol perjudicial.
ABSTRACT Introduction: The Covid-19 pandemic brought many challenges in the mental health of health professionals where Burnout Syndrome (BS) was one of the most prevalent conditions in health workers. Likewise, during this period, an increase in the consumption of alcohol and/or cannabis could be observed to face the difficulties caused by the pandemic. Objective: To know the prevalence of SB and alcohol and cannabis consumption and the relationship between SB and types of alcohol consumption after COVID-19 in health workers. Materials and methods: The design of the present study was descriptive, correlational. The sample was made up of 84 health workers chosen by convenience sampling. The data analysis was carried out through proportions, 95% Confidence Intervals, Pearson's Chi2 and Spearman classification. Results: It was found that the health workers presented moderately high levels of Burnout Syndrome, the worker who worked in the Covid-19 area, higher percentages were present in the SB categories, 31% presented a high level of emotional exhaustion, 20.2 % a high level of depersonalization and 25 % a low level of personal fulfillment. Regarding the use of psychoactive substances, no significant differences were found either, although of the workers who were in the Covid-19 area, 64.3 % reported consuming alcohol and 33.3 % cannabis. Regarding the type of alcohol consumption, it was found that 36.9 % have sensible consumption, 26. % have dependent consumption and 36.9 % have harmful consumption. Likewise, the type of harmful alcohol consumption was significantly correlated with the level of emotional exhaustion (p > .05). Conclusions: which indicates that workers who have greater emotional exhaustion also have a type of harmful alcohol consumption.

Introdução: A pandemia da COVID-19 tem impactado signicativamente a saúde mental dos profissionais de saúde, especialmente dos enfermeiros que estão na linha de frente do combate à doença. Nesse contexto, a síndrome de Burnout é um fenômeno que tem recebido destaque, pois pode levar ao esgotamento físico e emocional desses profissionais. Objetivo: Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar a relação entre enfermeiros e a síndrome de Burnout diante da pandemia da COVID-19. Método: Trata-se de revisão de literatura cientíca que abordam a temática em questão. Resultados: Os resultados apontam que a pandemia da COVID-19 aumentou a sobrecarga de trabalho dos enfermeiros, que têm enfrentado condições adversas de trabalho, como falta de equipamentos de proteção individual e o medo de contaminação. Essas condições têm levado a um aumento dos níveis de estresse e ansiedade entre os enfermeiros, o que pode contribuir para o desenvolvimento da síndrome de Burnout. Portanto, é necessário que sejam implementadas medidas de proteção aos profissionais de saúde, como a oferta de suporte emocional e psicológico, além de uma carga de trabalho adequada. Conclusão: A pandemia da COVID-19 teve um impacto signicativo na saúde mental dos profissionais da equipe de enfermagem, com aumento da prevalência de sintomas de depressão, ansiedade e estresse. É essencial fornecer suporte psicológico e emocional, melhorar as condições de trabalho e garantir o acesso a equipamentos de proteção adequados. Investir na saúde mental desses profissionais é fundamental para o bem-estar individual e a qualidade do cuidado aos pacientes. Instituições de saúde, gestores e profissionais devem reconhecer essa importância e trabalhar juntos para fornecer o suporte necessário durante e após a pandemia.(AU)
ntroduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has signicantly impacted the mental health of health professionals, especially nurses who are on the front lines of ghting the disease. In this context, the Burnout syndrome is a phenomenon that has been highlighted, as it can lead to physical and emotional exhaustion of these professionals. Objective: This article aims to analyze the relationship between nurses and the Burnout syndrome in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: For this purpose, books and scientic articles that address the subject in question were consulted. Results: The results show that the COVID-19 pandemic has increased the workload of nurses, who have been facing adverse working conditions, such as lack of personal protective equipment and fear o f contamination. These conditions have led to increased levels of stress and anxiety among nurses, which may contribute to the development of the Burnout syndrome. Therefore, it is necessary to implement protective measures for health professionals, such as offering emotional and psychological support, in addition to an adequate workload. Conclusion: The COVID-19 pandemic had a signicant impact on the mental health of nursing staff, with an increased prevalence of symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress. It is essential to provide psychological and emotional support, improve working conditions and ensure access to adequate protective equipment. Investing in the mental health of these professionals is essential for individual well-being and the quality of patient care. Health institutions, managers and professionals must recognize this importance and work together to provide the necessary support during and after the pandemic.(AU)

En este contexto, el síndrome de Burnout es un fenómeno que ha recibido atención, ya que puede provocar agotamiento físico y emocional de estos profesionales. Objetivo: Este artículo tiene como objetivo analizar la relación entre enfermeras y síndrome de Burnout ante la pandemia de COVID-19. Método: Se trata de una revisión de la literatura cientí ca que aborda el tema en cuestión. Resultados: Los resultados indican que la pandemia de COVID-19 ha aumentado la carga de trabajo de las enfermeras, quienes han enfrentado condiciones laborales adversas, como falta de equipos de protección personal y miedo a la contaminación. Estas condiciones han provocado mayores niveles de estrés y ansiedad entre las enfermeras, lo que puede contribuir al desarrollo del síndrome de Burnout. Por ello, es necesario implementar medidas de protección para los profesionales sanitarios, como ofrecer apoyo emocional y psicológico, además de una carga de trabajo adecuada. El síndrome de burnout, también conocido como síndrome del desgaste o agotamiento físico y mental, constituye un problema de gran repercusión social en nuestros días. Objetivo. Identificar las dimensiones del síndrome de Burnout en estudiantes universitarios de la Carrera de Contaduría y Finanzas. Materiales y Método. Se desarrolló bajo un diseño observacional de corte transversal. En este sentido, un total de 161 estudiantes participaron en la investigación. Se utilizó el Maslach Burnout Inventory for Educators. Resultados. Los participantes al ser clasificados en las diferentes dimensiones del síndrome burnout mostraron como regularidad diferencias significativas (p<1.056e-06), (p<1.199e-10), (p<1.309e-13) con 74 (46%) y 57 (35%), 85 (53%) y 47 (29%) y 91 (56%) y 39 (24%) para los niveles bajo y alto de las dimensiones agotamiento emocional, cinismo e ineficacia profesional, respectivamente. No se encontraron asociaciones estadísticas entre las dimensiones del síndrome y las variables edad, género y estado civil de los participantes. Conclusión. Existen diferencias significativas entre los valores de las dimensiones del síndrome de burnout en estudiantes de la Carrera de Contaduría y Finanzas; la mayor cantidad de participantes clasifican en los niveles bajo y alto de las tres dimensiones. Por otro lado, no se observaron asociaciones estadísticas al clasificar a los participantes según edad, género y estado civil. Estos hallazgos brindan información relevante sobre la prevalencia de las dimensiones del síndrome de burnout en estudiantes, lo que puede ser útil para el desarrollo de estrategias de prevención y apoyo.
Burnout syndrome, also known as burnout syndrome or physical and mental exhaustion, is a problem of great social repercussion nowadays. Objective. To identify the dimensions of burnout syndrome in university students of Accounting and Finance. Materials and Method. The study was developed under a cross-sectional observational design. In this sense, a total of 161 students participated in the research. The Maslach Burnout Inventory for Educators was used. Results. The participants when classified in the different dimensions of burnout syndrome showed as regularity significant differences (p<1.056e-06), (p<1.199e-10), (p<1.309e-13) with 74 (46%) and 57 (35%), 85 (53%) and 47 (29%) and 91 (56%) and 39 (24%) for the low and high levels of the dimensions emotional exhaustion, cynicism and professional inefficacy, respectively. No statistical associations were found between the dimensions of the syndrome and the variables age, gender and marital status of the participants. Conclusion. There are significant differences between the values of the dimensions of burnout syndrome in Accounting and Finance students; most participants are classified in the low and high levels of the three dimensions. On the other hand, no statistical associations were observed when classifying participants according to age, gender and marital status. These findings provide relevant information on the prevalence of the dimensions of burnout syndrome in students, which may be useful for the development of prevention and support strategies.
A síndrome de burnout, também conhecida como síndrome de esgotamento ou exaustão física e mental, é um problema com grandes repercussões sociais nos dias de hoje. Objetivos. Identificar as dimensões da Síndrome de Burnout em estudantes universitários de Contabilidade e Finanças. Material e Método. O estudo foi realizado através de um desenho observacional transversal. Participaram da pesquisa 161 estudantes. Foi utilizado o Maslach Burnout Inventory for Educators. Resultados. Os participantes quando classificados nas diferentes dimensões da síndrome de burnout apresentaram regularmente diferenças significativas (p<1,056e-06), (p<1,199e-10), (p<1,309e-13) com 74 (46%) e 57 (35%), 85 (53%) e 47 (29%) e 91 (56%) e 39 (24%) para os níveis baixo e alto das dimensões exaustão emocional, cinismo e ineficácia profissional, respetivamente. Não foram encontradas associações estatísticas entre as dimensões da síndrome e as variáveis idade, género e estado civil dos participantes. Conclusões. Existem diferenças significativas entre os valores das dimensões da síndrome de burnout em estudantes de Contabilidade e Finanças; a maioria dos participantes está classificada nos níveis baixo e alto das três dimensões. Por outro lado, não foram observadas associações estatísticas ao classificar os participantes de acordo com a idade, o género e o estado civil. Estes resultados fornecem informações relevantes sobre a prevalência das dimensões da síndrome de burnout em estudantes, o que pode ser útil para o desenvolvimento de estratégias de prevenção e apoio.

La Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) define el estrés laboral como una reacción que puede manifestarse ante exigencias y presiones laborales que ponen a prueba la capacidad que tiene cada persona para afrontar ciertas situaciones y que se agravan en el personal de salud que atiende pacientes con la COVID-19. Es decir, lo que resulta del desequilibrio entre las presiones y exigencias a las que se enfrenta el individuo, por una parte, y los conocimientos adquiridos por otra parte. El Síndrome de desgaste profesional, conocido también como síndrome de agotamiento emocional o psicológico, o por el anglicismo burnout, es un tipo de estrés laboral que engloba un estado de agotamiento físico, emocional y mental que conlleva a consecuencias individuales y sociales. El objetivo de esta revisión narrativa es identificar los factores de riesgo para el desarrollo del Síndrome de desgaste profesional en el personal de salud relacionado con la atención de pacientes con la COVID-19. Se realizó una búsqueda en la base de datos PubMed, se incluyeron artículos originales, estudios aleatorizados, revisiones sistemáticas y otros textos en español e inglés, publicados durante el periodo 2020-2023. Los principales factores de riesgo identificados en la literatura para el desarrollo de Síndrome de desgaste profesional fueron la juventud, sexo femenino, la soltería, la carga de trabajo y el nivel de satisfacción laboral de los profesionales.
The WHO defines occupational stress as a reaction that may occur when a person is faced with work-related demands and pressures that test the individual's ability to cope with certain situations, and it exacerbates in healthcare personnel who provide care to patients with COVID-19. That is, what results from the imbalance between the pressures and demands that the individual faces, on the one hand, and the knowledge acquired on the other hand. Burnout syndrome is a type of work-related stress that encompasses a state of physical, emotional and mental exhaustion that leads to individual and social consequences. The objective of this systematic review is to identify the risk factors for the development of Burnout Syndrome in health personnel related to the care of patients with COVID-19. A search was carried out in the PubMed database, including original articles, randomized studies, systematic reviews, and textbooks in Spanish and English, published during the period 2020-2023. The main risk factors for the development of Burnout Syndrome identified in the literature were youth, female sex, singleness, workload and the level of job satisfaction of the professionals

Trabalhadores, tanto líderes como liderados, têm sido expostos a diversos estressores ocupacionais que, quando persistentes, podem ocasionar a síndrome de burnout. O estudo teve como objetivo explorar a diferença entre o grupo de trabalhadores líderes e liderados no que diz respeito às dimensões da síndrome de burnout (ilusão pelo trabalho, desgaste psíquico, indolência, culpa), Conflito no trabalho (conflito cognitivo com foco na tarefa, conflito emocional com foco na tarefa, conflito emocional com foco no relacionamento) e Trabalho emocional (demanda, dissonância). A amostra foi constituída por 628 trabalhadores, 247 líderes e 381 liderados, que responderam ao Spanish Burnout Inventory, à Escala de Conflito Triplo, duas subescalas de Trabalho Emocional: Demanda emocional e Dissonância emocional e um questionário de dados sociodemográficos e laborais. Os dados foram analisados mediante análise discriminante. O perfil discriminante revelou que o grupo dos líderes se diferenciou por ter apresentado mais conflito emocional com foco na tarefa e demanda emocional; o grupo de liderados apresentou maior indolência, ilusão pelo trabalho e culpa. Os resultados possibilitam sugerir ações diferenciadas para os grupos investigados.
Los trabajadores, tanto líderes como subordinados, han estado expuestos a varios estresores ocupacionales que, cuando persistentes, pueden causar el síndrome de burnout. El estudio tuvo como objetivo identificar el perfil discriminante entre un grupo de trabajadores líderes y otro grupo de subordinados, con respecto a las dimensiones del síndrome de burnout (Ilusión por el trabajo, Desgaste psíquico, Indolencia, Culpa), Conflicto en el trabajo (Conflicto cognitivo con la tarea centrado en la tarea, conflicto emocional centrado en la tarea, conflicto emocional centrado en la relación) y trabajo emocional (disonancia, demanda). La muestra estuvo conformada por 628 trabajadores, 247 jefes y 381 subordinados, quienes respondieron el Cuestionario para la Evaluación del Síndrome de Quemarse por el Trabajo, la Escala del Triple Conflicto, dos subescalas de Trabajo Emocional: Demanda Emocional y Disonancia Emocional y un cuestionario de evaluación sociodemográfica y laboral. datos. Los datos se analizaron mediante análisis discriminante. El perfil discriminante reveló que el grupo de líderes se distinguió por tener más conflicto emocional con foco en la tarea y demanda emocional; el grupo de subordinados mostró mayores índices en las dimensiones indolencia, ilusión por el trabajo y culpa del síndrome de burnout. Los resultados permiten sugerir diferentes acciones para los grupos investigados.
Workers, both leaders and led, have been exposed to several occupational stressors that, when persistent, can cause Burnout Syndrome. The study aimed to identify the discriminating profile between a group of leading workers and another group of workers, with regard to the dimensions of the Burnout Syndrome (enthusiasm towards job, psychological exhaustion, indolence, guilt), conflict at work (cognitive conflict with task focus, task focus emotional conflict, relationship focus emotional conflict) and emotional labor (demand, dissonance). The sample consisted of 628 workers, 247 leaders and 381 led, who answered the Spanish Burnout Inventory, the Triple Conflict Scale, two subscales of Emotional Work: Emotional Demand and Emotional Dissonance and a questionnaire of sociodemographic and labor data. Data were analyzed using discriminant analysis. The discriminant profile revealed that the group of leaders was distinguished by having more emotional conflict with a focus on the task and emotional demand; the group led showed greater indolence, enthusiasm towards job and guilt. The results make it possible to suggest different actions for the investigated groups.

O modelo de demandas e recursos foi utilizado para identificar o poder preditivo do estilo pessoal do terapeuta e do trabalho emocional (demandas), e da inteligência emocional e autoeficácia profissional (recursos) sobre as dimensões da síndrome de Burnout (SB), em uma amostra de 240 psicólogos clínicos brasileiros. Os dados foram coletados por meio de plataforma online, tendo como instrumentos de pesquisa um Questionário de dados sociodemográficos e laborais, o Cuestionario para la Evaluación del Síndrome de Quemarse por el Trabajo, o Cuestionario del Estilo Personal del Terapeut, o Questionário de Avaliação Relacionado a Demandas Emocionais e Dissonância da Regra da Emoção, Medida de Inteligência Emocional, e Escala de Autoeficácia Geral Percebida. Os resultados obtidos revelaram um modelo preditor das dimensões da SB, constituído pelas variáveis dissonância emocional, automotivação, demandas emocionais, instrução, envolvimento e autoeficácia. Ressalta-se a relevância de estratégias voltadas para a prevenção da SB nessa categoria profissional, bem como a necessidade de ações que visem a promoção e o desenvolvimento da inteligência emocional e da autoeficácia como fortalecimento dos recursos emocionais para atuação na prática clínica.(AU)
The Model of Demands - Resources was used to identify the predictive power of therapist's personal style, emotional work (Demands), Emotional intelligence, and professional self-efficacy (Resources) over the Burnout syndrome dimensions in a sample of 240 Brazilian clinical psychologists. The data was collected by an on-line platform using a Labor and social demographic data questionnaire, a work Burnout Syndrome Evaluation questionnaire (CESQT - Cuestionario para la Evaluación del Síndrome de Quemarse por el Trabajo), the short version of the Therapist Personal Style Questionnaire (EPT-C Cuestionario del Estilo Personal del Terapeuta), an Evaluation questionnaire related to emotional demands and emotion rule dissonance, and the Emotional Intelligence Measure (EIM) and Perceived General Self-Efficacy Scale (GPSS) as research instruments. Results showed a predictor model of Burnout syndrome constituted by the variables Emotional dissonance, Self-motivation, Emotional demands, Instruction, Involvement, and Self-efficacy. We emphasize the relevance of strategies to prevent Burnout Syndrome in this professional category and the need for actions to promote and develop emotional intelligence and self-efficacy as a strengthening factor of the emotional resources to work as a clinical psychologist.(AU)
Se utilizó el modelo demandas y recursos para identificar el poder predictivo del estilo personal del terapeuta y del trabajo emocional (demandas), y de la inteligencia emocional y autoeficacia profesional (recursos) sobre las dimensiones del síndrome de Burnout (SB), en una muestra de 240 psicólogos clínicos brasileños. Los datos se recolectaron de una plataforma en línea, utilizando como instrumentos de investigación un cuestionario de datos sociodemográficos y laborales, el Cuestionario para la Evaluación del Síndrome de Quemarse por el Trabajo, el Cuestionario del Estilo Personal del Terapeuta, el Cuestionario de Evaluación Relacionado con Demandas Emocionales y Disonancia de la Regla de la Emoción, la Medida de Inteligencia Emocional y Escala de Autoeficacia General Percibida. Los resultados obtenidos revelaron un modelo predictor de las dimensiones de SB, constituido por las variables disonancia emocional, automotivación, exigencias emocionales, instrucción, implicación y autoeficacia. Se destaca la relevancia de las estrategias dirigidas a la prevención del SB en esta categoría profesional, así como la necesidad de acciones dirigidas a promover y desarrollar la inteligencia emocional y la autoeficacia como fortalecimiento de los recursos emocionales para trabajar en la práctica clínica.(AU)

Objetivo: Identificar la prevalencia del síndrome de Burnout en residentes del servicio de Cirugía General del Hospital "Dr. Miguel Pérez Carreño" en el período comprendido entre 2018 y 2019.Método: Trabajo de campo, tipo prospectivo, descriptivo y transversal. Datos obtenidos por el cuestionario de Maslach Burnout Inventory. Organización de datos por técnica de estadística descriptiva, mediante programa Excel. Resultados: Se resalta niveles altos de cansancio emocional, agotamiento por trabajo, sensación de vacío al culminar, frustración en el trabajo y despersonalización. Conclusiones: Se Identificó el síndrome de Burnout en los residentes del servicio de Cirugía General del Hospital Dr. Miguel Pérez Carreño. Recomendaciones: Revisar exigencias en jornadas diarias para comparar la condición de trabajo en los servicios de cirugía y otras especialidades en el hospital(AU)
Objective: To identify the prevalence of Burnout syndrome in residents of the General Surgery service of the "Dr. Miguel Pérez Carreño" in the period between 2018 and 2019. Method: Field work, prospective, descriptive and transversal. Data obtained from the Maslach Burnout Inventory questionnaire. Organization of data by descriptive statistics technique, using Excel program. Results: High levels of emotional exhaustion, work exhaustion, feeling of emptiness upon completion, frustration at work and depersonalization are highlighted. Conclusions: Burnout syndrome was identified in the residents of the General Surgery service of the Dr. Miguel Pérez Carreño Hospital. Recommendations: Review demands in daily shifts to compare the working condition in the surgery services and other specialties in the hospital(AU)

Resumo. Objetivo. Identificar os preditores sociodemográficos, laborais, estressores psicossociais, foco regulatório para a obtenção das metas no trabalho, trabalho emocional e a síndrome de burnout para a intenção de abandono profissional em professores brasileiros de acordo com os cinco níveis de ensino: Infantil, Fundamental, Médio, Graduação e Pós-graduação. Método. Utilizou-se uma amostra não probabilística de 1284 professores brasileiros distribuídos em cinco níveis de ensino que responderam a um instrumento on-line que continha cinco seções: questionário de dados sociodemográficos e laborais, Cuestionario para la Evaluación del Síndrome de Quemarse por el Trabajo, Escala Geral de Focus Regulatório, Escala de Emoções no Trabalho e a Escala de Avaliação de Estressores Psicossociais no Contexto Laboral. Resultados. Os resultados obtidos por meio da análise de regressão linear múltipla revelaram preditores diferenciados de acordo com os níveis de ensino. As variáveis que explicaram os modelos foram maiores índices de síndrome de burnout, pressão pela responsabilidade, conflito e ambiguidade de papel, sobrecarga de papéis, insegurança na carreira, variabilidade emocional, maior formação acadêmica e remuneração e menores índices de satisfação com a vida, menor tempo de trabalho e idade, não ter outra atividade profissional e trabalhar em instituição privada. A síndrome de burnout foi preditora em todos os níveis.
Abstract. Objective. To identify the sociodemographic, work predictors, psychosocial stressors, regulatory focus to achieve goals at work, and emotional labor for professional abandonment intention in Brazilian teachers according to the five levels of education: kindergarten, elementary, secondary, undergraduate, and postgraduate. Method. A non-probabilistic sample of 1,284 Brazilian teachers distributed across five levels of education was used, who responded to an online instrument that contained five sections: sociodemographic and labor data questionnaire, Burnout questionnaire, General Regulatory Focus Scale, Emotions Labor Scale and the Psychosocial Stressors Assessment Scale in the Work Context. Results. The results obtained through multiple linear regression analyses revealed different predictors according to educational levels. The variables that explained the models were higher rates of burnout syndrome, pressure for responsibility, role conflict and ambiguity, role overload, career insecurity, emotional variability, higher academic training and remuneration and lower rates of satisfaction with life, lower length of work and age, not having another professional activity, and working in a private institution. Burnout syndrome was a predictor at all levels.

RESUMEN Introducción y objetivos: El Síndrome de Burnout (SB) se ha evaluado en escasas poblaciones de estudiantes de medicina, y aún menos su relación con la depresión. El objetivo es determinar la frecuencia de SB en estudiantes de Medicina de la Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia (UPTC), de Tunja, Colombia, así como su asociación con depresión y otros factores sociales, económicos, demográficos y académicos. Métodos: Estudio observacional analítico de corte transversal realizado en 182 estudiantes de Medicina de la UPTC durante 2018; se les aplicó la prueba Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey (MBI-SS), con lo que se obtuvieron los 3 componentes para determinar SB positivo, y se cruzó en el programa Stata 15 según la depresión y otras covariables sociales, económicas, demográficas y académicas con los Modelos Lineales Generalizados (GLM). Resultados: De los 182 encuestados, el 51,4% era mujeres, con una mediana de edad de 21 [20-23] arios. El 14% tenía SB; de ellos, el 48% tenía depresión. En la regresión múltiple, se asoció significativamente el SB con una mayor frecuencia de depresión (RPa = 5,54; IC95%, 2,36-13,02; p < 0,001) y sentir que el dinero no alcanza (RPa = 4,37; IC95%, 1,95-9,83; p < 0,001), al contrario que la asociación negativa con tabaquismo (RPa = 0,13; IC95%, 0,06-0,30; p < 0,001) y ser mujer (RPa = 0,32; IC95%, 0,12-0,82; p = 0,018). La edad de inicio del consumo de marihuana no fue significativa. Conclusiones: El SB sí muestra una alta asociación con el incremento de depresión y sentir que el dinero no alcanza a fin de mes, pero se mostró una asociación negativa con el consumo de tabaco y ser mujer, por lo cual se debe detectar a dichos estudiantes con el fin de brindarles un apoyo académico adecuado. © 2021 Asociación Colombiana de Psiquiatría. ABSTRACT Introduction and objectives: Burnout Syndrome (BS) has been evaluated in few populations of medical students, and its relationship with depression is even less studied. The objective was to determine the frequency of BS in medical students of the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia (UPTC), in Tunja, Colombia, as well as its association with depression and other social, economic, demographic, and academic factors. Methods: An observational, analytical, cross-sectional study was carried out on 182 UPTC medical students during 2018. The Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey (MBI-SS) was applied, with which 3 components were obtained to determine positive SB. This was crossed in the Stata 15 program for depression and other social, economic, demographic, and academic covariates with the Generalised Linear Model (GLM). Results: Of 182 respondents, 51.4% were women. The median age was 21 years (20-23 years). 14% had BS, of which 48% had depression. In the multiple regression, BS was significantly associated with a higher frequency of depression (RPa = 5.54; IC95%, 2.36-13.02; P< 0.001) and the feeling of insufficient money (RPa = 4.37; IC95%, 1.95-9.83; P < 0.001), in contrast to a negative association with smoking (RPa = 0.13; IC95%, 0.06-0.30; P < 0.001) and being a woman (RPa = 0.32; IC95%, 0.12-0.82; P = 0.018). The age of onset of marijuana use was not significant. Conclusions: BS shows a high association with increased depression and a feeling that the money is not enough at the end of the month, but it showed a negative association with tobacco consumption and being a woman. Such students should be detected to provide them with adequate academic support.

Este estudo analisou a síndrome de Burnout e o senso de coerência em profissionais de enfermagem durante a pandemia de COVID-19. Para tanto, 61 profissionais da região Centro-Oeste do Brasil responderam aos instrumentos Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) e Senso de Coerência (SOC), em questionário do Google Forms. Os resultados indicaram que o domínio com maior pontuação média no MBI foi a "Realização pessoal" (M=3,95; DP=0,53), seguida pela "Exaustão emocional" (M=2,82; DP=0,83). Houve associação significante entre domínios do MBI e as dimensões do SOC-13, com pontuações mais altas em "Compreensão" e "Manejo" do SOC, associadas a menor "Exaustão emocional" (r_S de -0,447 e -0,572) e "Despersonalização" (r_S de -0,339 e -0,383). Foi observada relação significante entre o apoio psicológico no trabalho e a redução do nível de exaustão (valor p ≤ 0,001). Esses achados fornecem contribuições relevantes para o desenvolvimento de ações direcionadas aos profissionais da enfermagem, destacando a importância do apoio psicológico e do fortalecimento do senso de coerência.
This study analyzed Burnout and sense of coherence in nursing professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic. To do so, 61 professionals of the Center-West region of Brazil answered the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and Sense of Coherence (SOC) instruments through a Google Forms questionnaire. The results suggested that the domain with the highest mean score in the MBI was "Personal accomplishment" (M=3.95; SD=0,53), followed by "Emotional exhaustion" (M=2.82; SD=0,83). There was a significant association between the MBI domains and the SOC-13 dimensions, with higher scores in "Comprehensibility" and "Manageability" of SOC, associated to lower "Emotional exhaustion" (r_S of -0.447 and -0.572) e "Depersonalization" (r_S of -0.339 and -0.383). A significant relationship was found between the psychological support at work and a decrease in the exhaustion level (p-value ≤ 0.001). These findings provide relevant contributions to devise actions focused on nursing professionals, highlighting the importance of psychological support and the strengthening of the sense of coherence.

Introducción: los residentes y posgrados son un eslabón central en los servicios hospitalarios. El síndrome de Burnout se define como el agotamiento físico y emocional resultado de la exposición crónica al estrés en el ámbito laboral. El Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI-HSS) es un instrumento diseñado y validado para evaluarlo. El objetivo de este estudio es determinar la prevalencia del síndrome de Burnout en nuestro servicio y compararla entre los estudiantes de distintas generaciones para luego poner en marcha mecanismos que permitan realizar seguimiento, detección temprana e identificación de factores modificables. Material y método: estudio transversal, descriptivo, observacional, desarrollado en abril de 2021 a través de la realización del test MBI-HSS para el diagnóstico de situación. Este estudio continuará con una segunda etapa que consta de la aplicación del test cada cuatro meses, la cual no desarrollaremos en el presente trabajo. La población objetivo la constituyen todos los residentes y posgrados de la especialidad de Neonatología en un centro hospitalario de tercer nivel. Se aplicó el cuestionario MBI-HSS y un cuestionario general para caracterizar a la población. Resultados: se incluyeron un total de 22 participantes, de los cuales 13 presentaron puntajes altos de agotamiento emocional, 9 obtuvieron un valor alterado de despersonalización y 9 presentaron puntajes bajos de realización personal. Seis participantes (27%) presentaron puntajes alterados para las tres variables. Conclusiones: se evidenció una alta prevalencia de Burnout, el 27% en la población total. Se encontraron diferencias estadísticamente significativas para los ítems despersonalización y realización personal entre los distintos años de la especialidad, con mayor puntaje de despersonalización y menor puntaje de realización personal en los de segundo y tercer año. Esto constituye un elemento de alarma que exige la modificación inmediata del funcionamiento y de las actividades.
Introduction: Residents and postgraduates are a fundamental part of hospital services. Burnout Syndrome is defined as physical and emotional exhaustion resulting from chronic exposure to stress in the workplace. The Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI-HSS) is an instrument designed and validated to evaluate it. The objective of this study is to determine the prevalence of Burnout Syndrome in our service and to compare it among students of different generations to then implement mechanisms that allow monitoring, early detection and identification of modifiable factors. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional, descriptive, observational study carried out in April 2021 through the Maslach Burnout Inventory - Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS) test to carry out a diagnosis of the situation. This study will continue with a 2nd stage consisting of the application of the test every 4 months, which we will not develop in this work. The target population is all residents and postgraduates in the neonatology specialty at a tertiary level hospital. The MBI-HSS questionnaire and a general questionnaire were applied to characterize the population. Results: A total of 22 participants were included, of which 13 presented high scores of emotional exhaustion, 9 obtained an altered value of depersonalization and 9 presented low scores of personal fulfillment. Six participants, 27%, presented altered scores for the three variables. Conclusions: A high prevalence of Burnout was evidenced, being 27% in the total population. Statistically significant differences were found for the items "depersonalization" and "personal fulfillment" between the different years of the specialty, with higher depersonalization scores and lower personal fulfillment scores in the second and third years. This constitutes an alarm element, which requires immediate modification of the operation and activities.

A Síndrome de Burnout é definida como exaustão física e emocional resultante da exposição crônica ao estresse no ambiente de trabalho. O Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI-HSS) é um instrumento elaborado e validado para avaliá-lo. Objetivo: O objetivo deste estudo é determinar a prevalência da Síndrome de Burnout no Serviço de Neonatologia do Centro Hospitalario Pereira Rossel e compará-la entre estudantes de diferentes gerações para então implementar mecanismos que permitam monitoramento, detecção precoce e identificação de fatores modificáveis. Materiais e métodos: Estudo transversal, descritivo, observacional realizado em abril de 2021 por meio do teste Maslach Burnout Inventory - Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS) para diagnóstico da situação. Este estudo continuará com uma 2ª etapa que consiste na aplicação do teste a cada 4 meses, que não desenvolveremos neste trabalho. A população-alvo são todos os residentes e pós-graduandos da especialidade de neonatologia de um hospital de nível terciário. O questionário MBI-HSS e um questionário geral foram aplicados para caracterizar a população. Resultados: Foram incluídos 22 participantes, dos quais 13 apresentaram escores elevados de exaustão emocional, 9 obtiveram valor alterado de despersonalização e 9 apresentaram escores baixos de realização pessoal. Seis participantes, 27%, apresentaram escores alterados nas três variáveis. Conclusões: Evidenciou-se uma alta prevalência de Burnout de 27% na população total. Foram encontradas diferenças estatisticamente significativas nos itens "despersonalização" e "realização pessoal" entre os diferentes anos da especialidade, com maiores pontuações de despersonalização e menores pontuações de realização pessoal no segundo e terceiro anos. Isto constitui um elemento de alarme, que requer modificação imediata do funcionamento e das atividades.

Objetivo: Avaliar os fatores de risco para o aparecimento da Síndrome de burnout em enfermeiros trabalhadores do Hospital Regional Tarcísio de Vasconcelos Maia em Mossoró/RN. Métodos: Estudo exploratório, descritivo, quantitativo e transversal com 119 enfermeiros de março a setembro de 2022. Os dados foram coletados a partir da aplicação de um formulário com informações sócio-organizacionais e do Copenhagen Burnout Inventory, contendo 19 itens que refletem o burnout profissional em uma escala categorizada como burnout baixo, intermediário e alto. Resultados: A maioria dos entrevistados era do sexo feminino (81%), com média de 36,4 anos de idade, casada (70%), com especialização na área (74%) e dois empregos (59%). Identificou-se maior prevalência de níveis elevados de burnout pessoal (44%) e níveis intermediários de burnoutrelacionado ao trabalho (52%) e relacionado ao cliente (50%). Houve forte correlação positiva entre número de vínculos empregatícios para as dimensões burnout pessoal (r = 0,74; p = 0,03) e relacionado ao trabalho (r = 0,81; p = 0,02), forte correlação positiva entre carga horária de trabalho e burnout pessoal (r = 0,68; p = 0,04) e moderada correlação positiva entre carga horária de trabalho e burnout relacionado ao trabalho (r = 0,53; p = 0,04). Conclusões: A exposição a jornadas de trabalho prolongadas resultou em aumento dos níveis de exaustão física e psíquica nos enfermeiros, interferindo negativamente nos aspectos profissionais e pessoais. Estudos futuros focando em estratégias para garantir uma melhor condição de trabalho ao enfermeiro são necessários, visando proporcionar uma melhor saúde ocupacional aos trabalhadores
Objective: To evaluate the risk factors for the onset of burnout syndrome in nursing workers at the Hospital Regional Tarcísio de Vasconcelos Maia in Mossoró/RN. Methods: Exploratory, descriptive, quantitative and cross-sectional study with 119 nurses from March to September 2022. Data were collected from the application of a form with socio-organizational information and the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory, containing 19 items that reflect the professional burnout on a scale categorized as low, intermediate and high burnout. Results: Most respondents were female (81%), with an average age of 36.4 years, married (70%), with specialization in the area (74%) and two jobs (59%). A higher prevalence of high levels of personal burnout (44%) and intermediate levels of work-related (52%) and client-related burnout (50%) were identified. There was a strong positive correlation between the number of employment relationships for the personal burnout (r = 0.74; p = 0.03) and work-related (r = 0.81; p = 0.02) dimensions, a strong positive correlation between load hours of work and personal burnout (r = 0.68; p = 0.04) and a moderate positive correlation between workload and work-related burnout (r = 0.53; p = 0.04). Conclusions: Exposure to long working hours resulted in increased levels of physical and mental exhaustion in nurses, negatively interfering with professional and personal aspects. Future studies focusing on strategies to ensure a better working condition for nurses are needed, aiming to provide better occupational health for workers. Foi realizada uma pesquisa de opinião nacional na qual cada médico foi capaz de expressar seus sentimentos, compreensão e opinião pessoal no contexto da qualidade de vida no trabalho e bioética. Foi utilizado um questionário estruturado com tópicos relevantes, enviado pelo Departamento de TI do Conselho Federal de Medicina aos 95.022 endereços de e-mail registrados válidos, e foram obtidas 426 respostas completas. Houve manifestações negativas; em média, mais de 50% das respostas específicas, que mostraram que a falta de qualidade de vida no trabalho age negativamente sobre o entendimento e a opinião dos médicos sobre bioética e a relação médico-paciente, e não necessariamente que esta manifestação se materialize através de suas ações. Houve médicos receptivos que, através de suas respostas, conseguiram demonstrar que a falta de qualidade de vida no trabalho pode alterar e desconstruir esta relação no contexto da bioética.
A nationwide opinion survey was applied, in which each physician was able to express his or her feelings, understanding and personal opinion in the context of quality of life at work and bioethics. A structured questionnaire with relevant topics was used, sent by the Informatics Department of the Federal Council of Medicine to the 95,022 valid e-mails registered, and 426 complete responses were obtained. There were negative manifestations; on average, more than 50% of the specific responses, which evidenced that the lack of quality of life at work acts negatively on the understanding and opinion of physicians on bioethics and the doctor-patient relationship, and not necessarily that this manifestation is materialized through their actions. There were responsive physicians who, through their responses, were able to demonstrate that a lack of quality of life at work can alter and deconstruct this relationship in the context of bioethics.
Se aplicó una encuesta de opinión, de ámbito nacional, en la que cada médico pudo expresarse plasmando sus sentimientos, comprensión y opinión personal en el contexto de la calidad de vida en el trabajo y la bioética. Se utilizó un cuestionario estructurado con temas pertinentes, enviado por el Departamento de Informática del Consejo Federal de Medicina a los 95.022 correos electrónicos válidos registrados, y se obtuvieron 426 respuestas completas. Hubo manifestaciones negativas; en promedio, más del 50% de las respuestas específicas, lo que evidenció que la falta de calidad de vida en el trabajo actúa negativamente en la comprensión y opinión de los médicos sobre la bioética y la relación médico-paciente, y no necesariamente que esa manifestación se materialice a través de sus acciones. Hubo médicos receptivos que, a través de sus respuestas, pudieron demostrar que la falta de calidad de vida en el trabajo puede alterar y deconstruir esta relación en el contexto de la bioética.

Introducción: Los estudiantes universitarios se ven envueltos en situaciones de estrés y ansiedad que afectan su proceso académico y calidad de vida. Sin el acompañamiento adecuado, el estrés puede desencadenar en problemas psicológicos mayores, tales como el Síndrome de Burnout. Objetivo: Identificar la prevalencia del Síndrome de Burnout en estudiantes de medicina de una institución universitaria en Cartagena durante el primer período del año 2019. Materiales y Métodos: Estudio descriptivo de tipo cuantitativo, la población fueron estudiantes del programa de medicina de una institución universitaria de Cartagena, matriculados en el primer período del año 2019, se aplicó el test de Maslach Burnout Inventory Student Survey (MBI-SS-1981), el cual mide tres parámetros indicadores de Síndrome de Burnout. Resultados: Se realizaron 383 encuestas, el 63% fueron de género femenino, el 91,7% son solteros, el 53% está entre los 20 y los 25 años, la prevalencia del Síndrome de Burnout fue de 30.8%. Conclusión: El Síndrome de Burnout en los estudiantes del programa de medicina de la institución Universitaria de la ciudad de Cartagena presenta una prevalencia importante, por tanto, es necesario diseñar estrategias que permitan su prevención.
Introduction: University students are involved in situations of stress and anxiety that affect their academic process and quality of life. Without the proper accompaniment, stress can trigger major psychological problems, such as Burnout Syndrome. Objective: To identify the prevalence of Burnout Syndrome in medical students of a university institution in Cartagena during the first period of 2019. Materials and Methods: Descriptive quantitative study, the population were students of the medicine program of a university institution in Cartagena, enrolled in the first period of 2019, the Maslach Burnout Inventory Student Survey (MBI-SS-1981) test was applied, which measures three indicator parameters of Burnout Syndrome.. Results: 383 surveys were carried out, 63% were female, 91.7% are single, 53% are between 20 and 25 years old, the prevalence of Burnout Syndrome was 30.8%. Conclusion: The Burnout Syndrome in the students of the medicine program of the University institution of the city of Cartagena presents an important prevalence, therefore, it is necessary to design strategies that allow its prevention.

Abstract Introduction Previous data suggest that healthcare students, such as nursing students, might have a differential risk of presenting burnout syndrome caused by the stress they are subjected to. However, the evidence is still scarce and inconclusive. Objective To evaluate the association between nursing training and burnout syndrome among undergraduate students in Hidalgo, Mexico. Method A cross-sectional analytical study was conducted on 566 undergraduate students (56% were nursing students and the rest were non-healthcare students). Burnout syndrome was identified using the Spanish version of the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey, consisting of subscales: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and diminished academic efficacy. The association between the variables of interest was evaluated using logistic regression models adjusted for confounders. Results In the depersonalization subscale, nursing students, compared with non-healthcare students, had an adjusted Odds Ratio (aOR) of moderate/high burnout syndrome of 2.08 (95% confidence interval [CI] = [1.34, 3.22]). In addition, the association was stronger among students in the third and fourth school years (aOR = 3.58; 95% CI = [1.62, 7.89]) compared with those in the first and second school years (aOR = 1.20; 95% CI = [.71, 2.03]). Discussion and conclusion It is necessary that universities provide nursing students with tools that allow them to cope with stressful situations during their academic training and their future life as health professionals.
Resumen Introducción Datos previos sugieren que los estudiantes del cuidado a la salud, como es el caso de enfermería, podrían tener un riesgo diferencial de presentar síndrome de burnout debido al estrés al que están sometidos, no obstante, la evidencia aun es escaza y no concluyente. Objetivo Evaluar la asociación entre la formación académica en enfermería con el síndrome de burnout en estudiantes universitarios de Hidalgo, México. Método Estudio trasversal analítico realizado en una muestra de 566 estudiantes universitarios (56% eran estudiantes de enfermería y el resto de las áreas diferentes a la salud). Para determinar la presencia de síndrome de burnout se utilizó la versión en español de la escala Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey, conformada por las subescalas: agotamiento, eficacia académica y despersonalización. La asociación entre las variables de interés se evalúo mediante modelos de regresión logística ajustados por confusores. Resultados En la subescala de despersonalización los estudiantes de enfermería tuvieron mayores posibilidades de presentar síndrome de burnout medio/alto en comparación con los de las otras formaciones académicas (razón de momios ajustada [RMa] = 2.08; intervalo de confianza [IC] al 95% = [1.34, 3.22]). Además, la asociación fue más fuerte entre aquellos que cursaban el tercer y cuarto año escolar (RMa = 3.58; IC 95% = [1.62, 7.89]) a diferencia de los que cursaban los primeros dos años escolares (RMa = 1.20; IC 95% = [.71, 2.03]). Discusión y conclusión Es importante que las universidades brinden a los estudiantes de enfermería herramientas que les permitan sobrellevar las situaciones estresantes durante su formación académica y su futura vida profesional.

Background: Nurses burnout is a common occurrence marked by a decrease in a nurse's energy, which displays as emotional tiredness, a lack of desire, and emotions of dissatisfaction, as well as a decrease in work efficacy. The aim of study was to assess the risk of burnout syndrome and explore the factors influencing burnout among nurses who are working in emergency ward and critical care units. Methods: The descriptive design was adopted and the sample was selected by non-probability convenient sampling technique. The sample comprises of 200 nurses from emergency and critical care units were selected. The data was gathered by using a 5-point Likert scale and a checklist. Results: The majority of the participants 95 (47.5%) were had high risk of burnout related to physical and psychological exhaustion whereas in self detachment majority of the participants 111 (55.5%) were had high risk of burnout and most of the study participants 101 (50.5%) were had high risk of burnout in self-realization. The risk of burnout syndrome was significant with designation, shift of duty, work overload and attended any workshop, continuing nursing education (CNE), and conference related to burnout syndrome (p<0.05). Conclusions: There was high risk of burnout identified among critical care units and emergency ward nurses. To lessen the severity of burnout, a preventive and therapeutic plan is required like maintain a safe working environment to prevent incidents, provide adequate resources to prevent stress caused by the shortage of staff, rotate nursing staff to work in other wards for professional development and promote open communication to allow team work.

Contexte et objectif.: Le syndrome d'épuisement professionnel (SEP) est une pathologie particulièrement préoccupante en milieu hospitalier avec un impact négatif sur la qualité des soins. L'objectif de l'étude était de connaitre la prévalence et les principaux facteurs associés au SEP chez le personnel de santé en pédiatrie au CHU de Bouaké. Méthodes. Etude prospective, descriptive et analytique réalisée en pédiatrie au CHU de Bouaké du 05 octobre au 03 novembre 2022. Etaient inclus les agents dudit service, consentants, reconnus par la Direction des Ressources Humaines du CHU de Bouaké et présent durant la période de l'étude. Les variables étudiées étaient socioprofessionnelles et l'évaluation du SEP. Le SEP a été évalué à l'aide du Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). Résultats : Au total 70 participants dont 39 présentant un SEP (13 hommes, 26 femmes) soit une prévalence de 56%. Les facteurs signifi cativement associés au SEP étaient la situation matrimoniale (Célibataire) (p=0,004 ; OR 0,155 ; IC 0,043-0,563), et le statut d'agent journalier (p=0,024 ; OR 0,058 IC 0,005-687). Conclusion. Le SEP était très fréquent en pédiatrie du CHU de Bouaké. Il avait un lien étroit avec la situation matrimoniale et le statut d'agent journalier. Pour améliorer la situation nous recommandons un accompagnement psychologique du personnel ainsi que la revalorisation salariale et des conditions de travail des agents journaliers. Background and objective. Burnout syndrome (BWS) is a particularly worrying pathology in the hospital environment with a negative impact on the quality of care. The objective of the study was to determine the prevalence and main factors associated with burnout among paediatric health care staff at the University Hospital of Bouaké. Methods. Prospective, descriptive and analytical study conducted in pediatrics at the University Hospital of Bouaké from October 5 to November 3, 2022. The study included consenting staff of the said department, recognised by the Human Resources Department of the University Hospital of Bouaké and present during the study period. The variables studied were socio-professional and SEP evaluation. The BWS was assessed using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). Results. A total of 70 participants, 39 of whom had MS (13 men, 26 women), representing a prevalence of 56%. The factors significantly associated with MS were marital status (single) (p=0.004; OR 0.155; CI 0.043-0.563), and day worker status (p=0.024; OR 0.058 CI 0.005-687). Conclusion. The SEP is very frequent in the paediatric ward of the University Hospital of Bouaké. It is closely related to marital status and day labourer status. To improve the situation, we recommend psychological support for the staff as well as an increase in the salary and working conditions of day workers.
