ABSTRACT

Objetivo. A pólvora é uma mistura explosiva constituída de 75% de salitre (nitrato de potássio), 12% de carvão e 13% de enxofre, moídos em conjunto. O objetivo deste trabalho foi verificar possível acometimento respiratório de trabalhadores de fábricas de fogos de artifícios por pólvora inalada. Método. Foram medidos os picos de fluxo expiratório de 234 pessoas do Município de Santo Antônio do Monte, Minas Gerais: 41 sem exposição profissional à pólvora (grupo-controle) e 193 trabalhadores de fábricas de fogos de artifícios. Os parâmetros utilizados foram: idade, sexo, estatura, peso, tabagismo e tempo de exposição à pólvora. Resultados. Todos os indivíduos pertencentes ao grupo-controle tiveram seus níveis de pico de fluxo expiratório dentro da normalidade. Em 50 (25,9%) trabalhadores, houve redução desse fluxo, 34 (68%) eram tabagistas, dez (20%) tinham de cinco a dez anos de exposição e dez (20%) tinham mais de dez anos de exposição. Conclusão. A pólvora relaciona-se com a redução de pico de fluxo expiratório, principalmente em indivíduos tabagistas.


Objective. Gunpowder is an explosive blend of potassium nitrate (75%), coal (12%) and sulphur (13%). The present investigation verified respiratory consequences of this powder in employees of firework factories. Method. The expiratory peak flow was assessed in 234 habitants of Santo Antônio do Monte, Minas Gerais State: 41 healthy volunteers (control group) and 193 employees of firework factories. The parameters assessed were age, sex, height, smoking and time of gunpowder exposition. Results. The level of the expiratory peak flow of the control group was normal. Reduction of the expiratory flow occurred in 50 (25.9%) of the factories workers: 34 (68%) of them were smokers and ten (20%) had more than tem years of exposition to gunpowder. Conclusion. Gunpowder is related with reduction of expiratory peak flow, mainly in smokers.

ABSTRACT

Las quemaduras en la población infantil siempre han sido un problema de salud pública importante el cual no ha sido manejado adecuadamente; cada día consultan más niños con quemaduras de distintos tipos, las más frecuentes son las causadas por líquidos y alimentos calientes, otras menos frecuentes son las eléctricas, por ácidos y dependiendo de la época, la pólvora es otro factor que ha causado aumento de las quemaduras en los niños mayores. En este artículo se describen las quemaduras según su profundidad, severidad y extensión, explicando las diferentes reglas para su medición y localización teniendo en cuenta los sitios especiales así como la implicación de los mismos para el pronóstico del paciente. Además por ser una patología traumática es importante revisar su fisiopatología para así comprender mejor su manejo y entender de esa manera el tratamiento, que varía según el período de tiempo transcurrido desde el evento de la quemadura...


Burns in the infantile population have always been a very important problem of public health that has not been managed appropriately; every day arrive more and more children with burns of different types, the most frequent are those caused by hot liquids, foods, oil, and less frequent ones are the electric and by acids. Depending on the time of the year, the fireworks are other factors that have caused an increase of the cases of burns in the children, especially in the older ones. In this article the burns are shown according to their depth, severity, and extension, it also explains the different rules to measure and locate them, keeping in mind the special places and the implication of the same ones for the patient’s predictions. Besides for be a traumatic pathology, is important to review its physiology, due to understand the special treatment, which is detailed according to the period of time lapsed from the event of the burn...

ABSTRACT

El creciente incremento de delitos en el Distrito Capital, sumado a los aumentos sucesivos de casos por quemaduras en niños y adultos, y al excesivo consumo de alcohol, obligó al alcalde Antanas Mockus a expedir los decretos 755 y 791 de 1995, que prohíben la venta y uso de artículos pirotécnicos, fuegos artificiales y globos; además, para prohibir el expendio y venta de licor en establecimientos públicos de 1:00 a 6:00 a.m., exceptuando los días 24 y 31 de diciembre, se expidió el decreto 756/95. Este estudio tiene como objetivo general determinar el impacto económico, social e individual generado con la adopción de las medidas mencionadas. El enfoque fundamental de la propuesta se orienta a la necesidad de evaluar el impacto económico y social de las medidas adoptadas para prevenir el uso de la pólvora y el consumo de alcohol, a través de un análisis retrospectivo, actual y proyectivo.


The growing increase in crime in the Capital District, added to the successive increases in cases of burns in children and adults, and the excessive consumption of alcohol, forced Mayor Antanas Mockus to issue decrees 755 and 791 of 1995, which prohibit the sale and use of pyrotechnic articles, fireworks and balloons; in addition, to prohibit the sale and sale of liquor in public establishments from 1:00 to 6:00 a.m., except on December 24 and 31, Decree 756/95 was issued. The general objective of this study is to determine the economic, social and individual impact generated by the adoption of the aforementioned measures. The fundamental approach of the proposal is oriented to the need to evaluate the economic and social impact of the measures adopted to prevent the use of gunpowder and alcohol consumption, through a retrospective, current and projective analysis.
