ABSTRACT
Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre el síndrome de burnout y la satisfacción laboral en el personal de enfermería en un Hospital público del Perú. Material y métodos: De tipo cuantitativo, transeccional, correlacional y no experimental, siendo la muestra de 96 profesionales, y aplicándose la técnica de encuesta. Como instrumento se empleó el cuestionario de Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), y el cuestionario de satisfacción laboral (SL-SPC), ambos validados en Perú. Resultados: El 62,5% presentó nivel medio de síndrome de Burnout, por dimensiones predominó el nivel medio de agotamiento emocional 51,0%, y nivel bajo en la despersonalización 67,7% y realización personal 58,3%. La satisfacción laboral fue de nivel medio en el 43,8%, por dimensiones predominó el nivel medio de satisfacción en condiciones físicas y/o confort 57,3%, beneficio laboral y/o remunerativo 69,8%, desempeño de tareas 44,8% y relación con la autoridad 62,5%, siendo predominante el nivel bajo en las relaciones interpersonales 51,1%, políticas administrativas 60,4% y desarrollo personal 52,1%. Se halló relación significativa entre las variables (p=0,000) evidenciándose que el nivel alto de Burnout predominó en el personal enfermero con nivel bajo de satisfacción laboral. De igual forma se halló relación entre la satisfacción laboral y las dimensiones del síndrome de burnout según agotamiento emocional (p=0,000), despersonalización (p=0,001) y realización personal (p=0,000). Conclusiones: Existe relación significativa entre el síndrome de burnout y la satisfacción laboral en el personal de enfermería en un Hospital público del Perú.
Objective: To determine the relationship between burnout syndrome and job satisfaction in the nursing staff in un hospital public in Perú. Material and methods: Quantitative, transectional, correlational and non-experimental, with a sample of 96 professionals, and applying the survey technique. The Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) questionnaire and the job satisfaction questionnaire (SL-SPC) were used as instruments, both validated in Peru. Results: 62.5% presented a medium level of Burnout syndrome, by dimensions the medium level of emotional exhaustion predominated 51.0%, and a low level of depersonalization 67.7% and personal fulfillment 58.3%. Job satisfaction was at a medium level in 43.8%, by dimensions the average level of satisfaction in physical conditions and/or comfort 57.3%, work and/or remuneration benefit 69.8%, task performance 44.8% and relationship with authority 62.5 predominated. %, with the low-level predominating in interpersonal relationships 51.1%, administrative policies 60.4% and personal development 52.1%. A significant relationship was found between the variables (p=0.000), showing that a high level of Burnout predominated in nursing staff with a low level of job satisfaction. Likewise, a relationship was found between job satisfaction and the dimensions of burnout syndrome according to emotional exhaustion (p=0.000), depersonalization (p=0.001) and personal fulfillment (p=0.000). Conclusions: There is a significant relationship between burnout syndrome and job satisfaction in the nursing staff in un hospital public in Perú.

Introdução: A pandemia da COVID-19 tem impactado signicativamente a saúde mental dos profissionais de saúde, especialmente dos enfermeiros que estão na linha de frente do combate à doença. Nesse contexto, a síndrome de Burnout é um fenômeno que tem recebido destaque, pois pode levar ao esgotamento físico e emocional desses profissionais. Objetivo: Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar a relação entre enfermeiros e a síndrome de Burnout diante da pandemia da COVID-19. Método: Trata-se de revisão de literatura cientíca que abordam a temática em questão. Resultados: Os resultados apontam que a pandemia da COVID-19 aumentou a sobrecarga de trabalho dos enfermeiros, que têm enfrentado condições adversas de trabalho, como falta de equipamentos de proteção individual e o medo de contaminação. Essas condições têm levado a um aumento dos níveis de estresse e ansiedade entre os enfermeiros, o que pode contribuir para o desenvolvimento da síndrome de Burnout. Portanto, é necessário que sejam implementadas medidas de proteção aos profissionais de saúde, como a oferta de suporte emocional e psicológico, além de uma carga de trabalho adequada. Conclusão: A pandemia da COVID-19 teve um impacto signicativo na saúde mental dos profissionais da equipe de enfermagem, com aumento da prevalência de sintomas de depressão, ansiedade e estresse. É essencial fornecer suporte psicológico e emocional, melhorar as condições de trabalho e garantir o acesso a equipamentos de proteção adequados. Investir na saúde mental desses profissionais é fundamental para o bem-estar individual e a qualidade do cuidado aos pacientes. Instituições de saúde, gestores e profissionais devem reconhecer essa importância e trabalhar juntos para fornecer o suporte necessário durante e após a pandemia.(AU)
ntroduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has signicantly impacted the mental health of health professionals, especially nurses who are on the front lines of ghting the disease. In this context, the Burnout syndrome is a phenomenon that has been highlighted, as it can lead to physical and emotional exhaustion of these professionals. Objective: This article aims to analyze the relationship between nurses and the Burnout syndrome in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: For this purpose, books and scientic articles that address the subject in question were consulted. Results: The results show that the COVID-19 pandemic has increased the workload of nurses, who have been facing adverse working conditions, such as lack of personal protective equipment and fear o f contamination. These conditions have led to increased levels of stress and anxiety among nurses, which may contribute to the development of the Burnout syndrome. Therefore, it is necessary to implement protective measures for health professionals, such as offering emotional and psychological support, in addition to an adequate workload. Conclusion: The COVID-19 pandemic had a signicant impact on the mental health of nursing staff, with an increased prevalence of symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress. It is essential to provide psychological and emotional support, improve working conditions and ensure access to adequate protective equipment. Investing in the mental health of these professionals is essential for individual well-being and the quality of patient care. Health institutions, managers and professionals must recognize this importance and work together to provide the necessary support during and after the pandemic.(AU)
Introducción: La pandemia de COVID-19 ha impactado signi cativamente la salud mental de los profesionales de la salud, especialmente las enfermeras que están en primera línea luchando contra la enfermedad. En este contexto, el síndrome de Burnout es un fenómeno que ha recibido atención, ya que puede provocar agotamiento físico y emocional de estos profesionales. Objetivo: Este artículo tiene como objetivo analizar la relación entre enfermeras y síndrome de Burnout ante la pandemia de COVID-19. Método: Se trata de una revisión de la literatura cientí ca que aborda el tema en cuestión. Resultados: Los resultados indican que la pandemia de COVID-19 ha aumentado la carga de trabajo de las enfermeras, quienes han enfrentado condiciones laborales adversas, como falta de equipos de protección personal y miedo a la contaminación. Estas condiciones han provocado mayores niveles de estrés y ansiedad entre las enfermeras, lo que puede contribuir al desarrollo del síndrome de Burnout. Por ello, es necesario implementar medidas de protección para los profesionales sanitarios, como ofrecer apoyo emocional y psicológico, además de una carga de trabajo adecuada. Conclusión: La pandemia de COVID-19 tuvo un impacto signi cativo en la salud mental de los profesionales del equipo de enfermería, con aumento en la prevalencia de síntomas de depresión, ansiedad y estrés. Es fundamental brindar apoyo psicológico y emocional, mejorar las condiciones laborales y garantizar el acceso a equipos de protección adecuados. Invertir en la salud mental de estos profesionales es fundamental para el bienestar individual y la calidad de la atención al paciente. Background and Objectives: military police officers face stress related to increase in violence and devaluation of their profession, which can lead to burnout and compromised quality of life. This study aimed to analyze the association between burnout and quality of life in military police officers from two Brazilian corporations. Methods: this was a cross-sectional study of 773 military police officers, 506 (65.5%) from battalions of the Country Police Command - 5th Region in São Paulo state and 267 (34.5%) from 3rd Military Police Battalion in Paraná state. Data was collected between January and December 2018 using a questionnaire with sociodemographic and professional variables: the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), translated and adapted into Portuguese by Robayo-Tamayo; and the abbreviated version of the World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL-Bref). Results: police officers from São Paulo had significantly better levels of quality of life than police officers from Paraná. There was a predominance of a high level of depersonalization (21.3%) among police officers from Paraná; a medium level of depersonalization (33.9%) among police officers from São Paulo; a medium level of emotional exhaustion and a high level of personal accomplishment in both police forces. Conclusion: police officers with low levels of depersonalization and emotional exhaustion had a higher quality of life in the physical health, psychological health, social relationships, environmental health and overall quality of life domains, and police officers with higher levels of personal accomplishment had higher quality of life scores.(AU)
Justificativa e Objetivos: os policiais militares enfrentam desgastes relacionados ao aumento da violência e à desvalorização da profissão que podem levar ao esgotamento e comprometimento da qualidade de vida. Este estudo teve como objetivo analisar a associação entre o burnout e a qualidade de vida em policiais militares de duas corporações brasileiras. Métodos: estudo transversal, com 773 policiais militares, sendo 506 (65,5%) dos batalhões do Comando de Policiamento do Interior 5ª Região do estado de São Paulo e 267 (34,5%) do 3º Batalhão de Polícia Militar do Paraná. Os dados foram coletados entre janeiro e dezembro de 2018, utilizando-se um questionário com variáveis sociodemográficas e profissionais: o Inventário de Burnout de Maslach (MBI), traduzido e adaptado para o português por Robayo-Tamayo; e a versão abreviada do World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL-Bref). Resultados: os policiais paulistas apresentaram níveis de qualidade de vida significativamente melhores dos que os policiais paranaenses. Houve predomínio alto nível de despersonalização (21,3%) entre policiais paranaenses; nível médio de despersonalização (33,9%) entre policiais paulistas; nível médio de exaustão emocional; e nível alto de realização pessoal em ambas as corporações. Quanto maiores os níveis de despersonalização e exaustão emocional dos policiais militares, menor a qualidade de vida. Por outro lado, quanto maior a realização pessoal, maior a qualidade de vida dos profissionais. Conclusão: policiais com níveis baixos de despersonalização e de exaustão emocional apresentaram maior qualidade de vida nos domínios físico, psicológico, relações sociais, meio ambiente e na avaliação da qualidade de vida geral, e os policiais com níveis mais elevados de realização pessoal tinham maiores escores de qualidade de vida.(AU)

Este estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar la asociación entre burnout y calidad de vida en policías militares de dos cuerpos brasileños. Métodos: se trató de un estudio transversal de 773 policías militares, 506 (65,5%) de los batallones del Comando de Policía Interior - 5ª Región en estado de São Paulo y 267 (34,5%) del 3º Batallón de Policía Militar en estado de Paraná. Los datos se recogieron entre enero y diciembre de 2018, mediante cuestionario con variables sociodemográficas y profesionales: el Inventario de Burnout de Maslach (MBI), traducido y adaptado al portugués por Robayo-Tamayo; y la versión abreviada del World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL-Bref). Resultados: los policías de São Paulo tenían niveles de calidad de vida significativamente mejores que los policías de Paraná. Predominó un alto nivel de despersonalización (21,3%) entre los policías de Paraná; nivel medio de despersonalización (33,9%) entre los agentes de policía de São Paulo; nivel medio de agotamiento emocional; y alto nivel de realización personal en ambas corporaciones. El síndrome de burnout, también conocido como síndrome del desgaste o agotamiento físico y mental, constituye un problema de gran repercusión social en nuestros días. Objetivo. Identificar las dimensiones del síndrome de Burnout en estudiantes universitarios de la Carrera de Contaduría y Finanzas. Materiales y Método. Se desarrolló bajo un diseño observacional de corte transversal. En este sentido, un total de 161 estudiantes participaron en la investigación. Se utilizó el Maslach Burnout Inventory for Educators. Resultados. Los participantes al ser clasificados en las diferentes dimensiones del síndrome burnout mostraron como regularidad diferencias significativas (p<1.056e-06), (p<1.199e-10), (p<1.309e-13) con 74 (46%) y 57 (35%), 85 (53%) y 47 (29%) y 91 (56%) y 39 (24%) para los niveles bajo y alto de las dimensiones agotamiento emocional, cinismo e ineficacia profesional, respectivamente. No se encontraron asociaciones estadísticas entre las dimensiones del síndrome y las variables edad, género y estado civil de los participantes. Conclusión. Existen diferencias significativas entre los valores de las dimensiones del síndrome de burnout en estudiantes de la Carrera de Contaduría y Finanzas; la mayor cantidad de participantes clasifican en los niveles bajo y alto de las tres dimensiones. Por otro lado, no se observaron asociaciones estadísticas al clasificar a los participantes según edad, género y estado civil. Estos hallazgos brindan información relevante sobre la prevalencia de las dimensiones del síndrome de burnout en estudiantes, lo que puede ser útil para el desarrollo de estrategias de prevención y apoyo.
Burnout syndrome, also known as burnout syndrome or physical and mental exhaustion, is a problem of great social repercussion nowadays. Objective. To identify the dimensions of burnout syndrome in university students of Accounting and Finance. Materials and Method. The study was developed under a cross-sectional observational design. In this sense, a total of 161 students participated in the research. The Maslach Burnout Inventory for Educators was used. Results. The participants when classified in the different dimensions of burnout syndrome showed as regularity significant differences (p<1.056e-06), (p<1.199e-10), (p<1.309e-13) with 74 (46%) and 57 (35%), 85 (53%) and 47 (29%) and 91 (56%) and 39 (24%) for the low and high levels of the dimensions emotional exhaustion, cynicism and professional inefficacy, respectively. No statistical associations were found between the dimensions of the syndrome and the variables age, gender and marital status of the participants. Conclusion. There are significant differences between the values of the dimensions of burnout syndrome in Accounting and Finance students; most participants are classified in the low and high levels of the three dimensions. On the other hand, no statistical associations were observed when classifying participants according to age, gender and marital status. These findings provide relevant information on the prevalence of the dimensions of burnout syndrome in students, which may be useful for the development of prevention and support strategies.
A síndrome de burnout, também conhecida como síndrome de esgotamento ou exaustão física e mental, é um problema com grandes repercussões sociais nos dias de hoje. Objetivos. Identificar as dimensões da Síndrome de Burnout em estudantes universitários de Contabilidade e Finanças. Material e Método. O estudo foi realizado através de um desenho observacional transversal. Participaram da pesquisa 161 estudantes. Foi utilizado o Maslach Burnout Inventory for Educators. Resultados. Os participantes quando classificados nas diferentes dimensões da síndrome de burnout apresentaram regularmente diferenças significativas (p<1,056e-06), (p<1,199e-10), (p<1,309e-13) com 74 (46%) e 57 (35%), 85 (53%) e 47 (29%) e 91 (56%) e 39 (24%) para os níveis baixo e alto das dimensões exaustão emocional, cinismo e ineficácia profissional, respetivamente. Não foram encontradas associações estatísticas entre as dimensões da síndrome e as variáveis idade, género e estado civil dos participantes. Conclusões. Existem diferenças significativas entre os valores das dimensões da síndrome de burnout em estudantes de Contabilidade e Finanças; a maioria dos participantes está classificada nos níveis baixo e alto das três dimensões. Por outro lado, não foram observadas associações estatísticas ao classificar os participantes de acordo com a idade, o género e o estado civil. Estes resultados fornecem informações relevantes sobre a prevalência das dimensões da síndrome de burnout em estudantes, o que pode ser útil para o desenvolvimento de estratégias de prevenção e apoio.

O estresse, cujas manifestações se dão por meio da liberação dos hormônios neuroendócrinos, tem como função primária garantir o preparo físico e emocional para o enfrentamento das situações desafiadoras do dia a dia. Entretanto, quando os estímulos estressantes ocorrem de maneira crônica e constante, tornam-se um agravante à saúde e ao bem-estar do indivíduo, comprometem a avaliação cognitiva e diminuem a capacidade de respostas adaptativas para as exigências do ambiente. Por conta disso, o estresse, sob a perspectiva do excesso de demandas, é considerado um dos maiores vilões da sociedade atualmente.
Stress, whose manifestations occur through the release of neuroendocrine hormones, has the primary function of ensur-ing physical and emotional preparedness to face challenging everyday situations. However, when stressful stimuli occur chronically and constantly, they become an aggravating factor for the individual's health and well-being, compromising cognitive assessment and reducing the capacity for adaptive responses to environmental demands. Taking this into consid-eration, stress, from the perspective of excess demands, is considered one of the biggest villains in society today.

@#<strong>BACKGROUND</strong><p style="text-align: justify;" data-mce-style="text-align: justify;">The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly challenged global healthcare systems, particularly impacting the psychological health of nurses. This study examines the psychosocial impact and work-related stressors faced by Filipino nurses during the COVID-19 crisis.</p><strong>METHODS</strong><p style="text-align: justify;" data-mce-style="text-align: justify;">Adescriptive cross-sectional survey was used to gather data from May 2021 to May 2022. Participants included registered nurses recruited from across the Philippines, focusing on their exposure to work related stressors, burnout, job satisfaction, and coping activities. The survey included validated items that measured work related variables (e.g., job responsibilities, workload) and personal stress management strategies. Descriptive statistics (means, standard deviations, frequencies, and percentages) were calculated to interpret the continuous and categorical variables.</p><strong>RESULTS</strong><p style="text-align: justify;" data-mce-style="text-align: justify;">A total of 2,229 nurses participated in the survey. Findings indicate that 78.9% of nurses experienced increased workloads, and 36% were assigned to units outside their expertise. Despite the high stress and burnout rates (30.4% reported symptoms), 56.4% of nurses intended to stay in their positions. The most common coping strategies were use of social media (53.7%) and connecting with friends and family (51.5%).</p><strong>CONCLUSION</strong><p style="text-align: justify;" data-mce-style="text-align: justify;">Filipino nurses displayed considerable resilience despite facing severe work-related stressors and psychological strains during the pandemic. The study highlights significant stressors such as increased workload, role shifts, and the lack of clear workplace goals, contributing to burnout and reduced job satisfaction. This study underscores the need for enhanced support systems and policies to safeguard nurses' well-being, recommending more robust mental health services, adequate staffing, and the provision of necessary resources and training to prepare nurses for future health crises better.</p>

@#<strong>INTRODUCTION</strong><p style="text-align: justify;" data-mce-style="text-align: justify;">Burnout is becoming more common among healthcare professionals, notably during the COVID-19 pandemic. It can result in lower performance and effectiveness at work as well as employment withdrawal, all of which affects the standard of healthcare services provided.</p><strong>OBJECTIVE</strong><p style="text-align: justify;" data-mce-style="text-align: justify;">In order to ascertain the effectiveness of mindfulness meditation-based interventions (MMBIs) in reducing burnout among healthcare workers, a systematic review and meta-analysis was done.</p><strong>METHODS</strong><p style="text-align: justify;" data-mce-style="text-align: justify;">Two investigators searched records in CENTRAL, PubMed/MEDLINE, Google Scholar, Preprints, Grey Literature, and cross-referencing to acquire articles using search terms related to “mindfulness meditation”, “healthcare workers”, and “burnout”. Inclusion criteria included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and nonrandomized controlled trials (NRTs) that assessed the effectiveness of MMBIs on burnout as measured by the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) among healthcare workers in the hospital setting. Study selection, data extraction, risk of bias assessment were done by the investigators independently. Analysis was done using RevMan 5 software, forest plots were generated, and subgroup analyses were done.</p><strong>RESULTS</strong><p style="text-align: justify;" data-mce-style="text-align: justify;">Of 25,453 identified records, 28 studies were included. The studies were rated with low to unclear selection bias and high risk of performance bias. MMBIs were associated with significant reduction on the emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishment subscales with pooled mean differences of -2.60 (95% CI = -3.64, -1.55), -0.51 (95% CI = -0.77, -0.26), and 0.82 (95% CI = 0.24, 1.39), respectively. On subgroup analyses, the types of MMBI implemented had no influence in the intervention effect noted on all subscales among RCTs but had significant influence among NRTs. Reduction of burnout was noted to be higher in nurses compared with physicians and mixed healthcare workers. Overall quality of evidence for RCTs was low to moderate and very low to low for NRTs.</p><strong>CONCLUSION</strong><p style="text-align: justify;" data-mce-style="text-align: justify;">The results suggest that MMBIs can reduce the burnout symptoms of healthcare workers. To address the high risk of bias of included studies and improve quality of evidence, future research should be done with high-quality RCTs.</p>

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the association between patient safety culture and professional quality of life in nursing professionals. Method: Correlational study carried out in a hospital in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, with 180 participants. The data were collected through the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture and Professional Quality of Life Scale and analyzed with correlation tests. Results: The use of the Quality of Professional Life model, which encompasses Compassion Satisfaction, Burnout and Traumatic Stress, showed that a better assessment of the safety culture was negatively associated with Burnout. Regarding the dimensions of culture, better evaluations of the general perception of safety, teamwork and staffing were negatively associated with Burnout and Traumatic Stress. Higher Burnout was negatively associated with better handoffs and greater Traumatic Stress was positively associated with error communication. Conclusion: Higher levels of Burnout were associated with worse perception of safety culture and worse teamwork evaluations; staffing and general perception of safety were associated to a higher level of Burnout and Traumatic Stress, which emphasizes the importance of investment in these areas.
RESUMEN Objetivo: Analizar la asociación entre la cultura de seguridad del paciente y la calidad de vida profesional de los profesionales de enfermería. Método: Estudio correlacional realizado en un hospital de Salvador, Bahía, Brasil, con 180 participantes. Los datos fueron recolectados a través de los instrumentos Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture y Professional Quality of Life Scale y analizados con pruebas de correlación. Resultados: El uso del modelo de Calidad de Vida Profesional, que engloba la Satisfacción por compasión, el Burnout y el Estrés Traumático, demostró que una mejor evaluación de la cultura de seguridad se asoció negativamente con el Burnout. Respecto a las dimensiones de la cultura, mejores evaluaciones de la percepción general de la seguridad, el trabajo en equipo y la dotación de personal se asociaron negativamente con el Burnout y el estrés traumático. Un mayor Burnout se asoció negativamente con un mejor cambio de turno y un mayor estrés traumático se asoció positivamente con la comunicación de errores. Conclusión: Mayores niveles de Burnout se asociaron con peor percepción de la cultura de seguridad y peores evaluaciones del trabajo en equipo; la dotación de personal y la percepción general de seguridad se asociaron con un mayor nivel de Burnout y Estrés Traumático, lo que enfatiza la importancia de la inversión en estas áreas.
RESUMO Objetivo: Analisar a associação entre cultura de segurança do paciente e qualidade de vida profissional de trabalhadores de enfermagem. Método: Estudo correlacional, realizado em um hospital de Salvador-BA, com 180 participantes. Os dados foram coletados por meio do Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture e da Professional Quality of Life Scale e analisados por testes de correlação. Resultados: O emprego do modelo Qualidade de Vida Profissional, que engloba a Satisfação por compaixão, o Burnout e o Estresse Traumático, permitiu verificar que melhor avaliação da cultura de segurança esteve associada negativamente ao Burnout. Referente às dimensões da cultura, melhores avaliações na percepção geral da segurança, trabalho em equipe e dimensionamento de pessoal associaram-se negativamente ao Burnout e ao Estresse Traumático. Maior Burnout associou-se negativamente à melhor passagem de plantão e maior Estresse Traumático positivamente à comunicação sobre erro. Conclusão: Maiores níveis de Burnout estiveram associados à pior percepção da cultura de segurança e piores avaliações acerca do trabalho em equipe; dimensionamento e percepção geral da segurança se associaram ao maior nível de Burnout e de Estresse Traumático, destacando a importância de investimentos nessas áreas.

O modelo de demandas e recursos foi utilizado para identificar o poder preditivo do estilo pessoal do terapeuta e do trabalho emocional (demandas), e da inteligência emocional e autoeficácia profissional (recursos) sobre as dimensões da síndrome de Burnout (SB), em uma amostra de 240 psicólogos clínicos brasileiros. Os dados foram coletados por meio de plataforma online, tendo como instrumentos de pesquisa um Questionário de dados sociodemográficos e laborais, o Cuestionario para la Evaluación del Síndrome de Quemarse por el Trabajo, o Cuestionario del Estilo Personal del Terapeut, o Questionário de Avaliação Relacionado a Demandas Emocionais e Dissonância da Regra da Emoção, Medida de Inteligência Emocional, e Escala de Autoeficácia Geral Percebida. Os resultados obtidos revelaram um modelo preditor das dimensões da SB, constituído pelas variáveis dissonância emocional, automotivação, demandas emocionais, instrução, envolvimento e autoeficácia. Ressalta-se a relevância de estratégias voltadas para a prevenção da SB nessa categoria profissional, bem como a necessidade de ações que visem a promoção e o desenvolvimento da inteligência emocional e da autoeficácia como fortalecimento dos recursos emocionais para atuação na prática clínica.(AU)
The Model of Demands - Resources was used to identify the predictive power of therapist's personal style, emotional work (Demands), Emotional intelligence, and professional self-efficacy (Resources) over the Burnout syndrome dimensions in a sample of 240 Brazilian clinical psychologists. The data was collected by an on-line platform using a Labor and social demographic data questionnaire, a work Burnout Syndrome Evaluation questionnaire (CESQT - Cuestionario para la Evaluación del Síndrome de Quemarse por el Trabajo), the short version of the Therapist Personal Style Questionnaire (EPT-C Cuestionario del Estilo Personal del Terapeuta), an Evaluation questionnaire related to emotional demands and emotion rule dissonance, and the Emotional Intelligence Measure (EIM) and Perceived General Self-Efficacy Scale (GPSS) as research instruments. Results showed a predictor model of Burnout syndrome constituted by the variables Emotional dissonance, Self-motivation, Emotional demands, Instruction, Involvement, and Self-efficacy. We emphasize the relevance of strategies to prevent Burnout Syndrome in this professional category and the need for actions to promote and develop emotional intelligence and self-efficacy as a strengthening factor of the emotional resources to work as a clinical psychologist.(AU)
Se utilizó el modelo demandas y recursos para identificar el poder predictivo del estilo personal del terapeuta y del trabajo emocional (demandas), y de la inteligencia emocional y autoeficacia profesional (recursos) sobre las dimensiones del síndrome de Burnout (SB), en una muestra de 240 psicólogos clínicos brasileños. Los datos se recolectaron de una plataforma en línea, utilizando como instrumentos de investigación un cuestionario de datos sociodemográficos y laborales, el Cuestionario para la Evaluación del Síndrome de Quemarse por el Trabajo, el Cuestionario del Estilo Personal del Terapeuta, el Cuestionario de Evaluación Relacionado con Demandas Emocionales y Disonancia de la Regla de la Emoción, la Medida de Inteligencia Emocional y Escala de Autoeficacia General Percibida. Los resultados obtenidos revelaron un modelo predictor de las dimensiones de SB, constituido por las variables disonancia emocional, automotivación, exigencias emocionales, instrucción, implicación y autoeficacia. Se destaca la relevancia de las estrategias dirigidas a la prevención del SB en esta categoría profesional, así como la necesidad de acciones dirigidas a promover y desarrollar la inteligencia emocional y la autoeficacia como fortalecimiento de los recursos emocionales para trabajar en la práctica clínica.(AU)

Aim: Burnout syndrome describes the state of long-term physical, emotional and mental exhaustion related to work. This syndrome can cause health problems related to stress, insomnia, cardiovascular and musculoskeletal diseases, including an increase in alcohol consumption and drug use. It is important to recognize the presence of the initial signs of this syndrome, therefore this study aimed to determine the prevalence of the burnout syndrome in peruvian dental students. Methods: The study was observational, cross-sectional, and descriptive. It was carried out from September to November 2018, and it included a total of 154 dental students of four universities of La Libertad region, surveyed by census method. Three were private universities and one was public. Burnout was evaluated through the Maslach Burnout Student Survey Questionnaire (MBI-SS). The results were presented in absolute and percentage frequencies, as well as confidence intervals, using double-entry tables. Results: It was found that 24.68% of the students (24.71% in male students and 24.64% in female students) presented burnout syndrome. The public university of Trujillo presented the highest percentage of affected students (47.37%). A prevalence of 53,90% of emotional exhaustion was also found among the students under evaluation. Conclusions: Almost a quarter of the students surveyed presented burnout. It was also observed that the public University of Trujillo had a higher percentage of burnout than the three private ones. The percentage of prevalence of the burnout syndrome according to sex was similar. However according to dimensions, emotional exhaustion presented the highest percentage

ABSTRACT Objective: The purpose of this study was to explore the pathways among the practice environment, job burnout, and job satisfaction and their relationships with the intention to leave among clinical nurses. Method: A cross-sectional survey was administered to 310 nursing staff members working in regional teaching hospitals in southern Taiwan. The instruments used included the practice environment, job satisfaction, job burnout, and sociodemographic characteristics questionnaires. Results: Structural equation modeling indicated that job satisfaction (β = -0.167) and job burnout (β = 0.361) were significantly and directly associated with the intention to leave, whereas the practice environment was significantly and directly associated with job satisfaction (β = 0.447). The practice environment (βindirect = -0.075) and job burnout (βindirect = 0.060) were significantly and indirectly associated with the intention to leave through job satisfaction. Conclusion: Job burnout and job satisfaction are directly associated with the intention to leave. Therefore, improving the practice environment and subsequent job burnout could be strategies to improve job satisfaction and decrease the intention to leave.
RESUMO Objetivo: O objetivo deste estudo foi explorar os caminhos entre o ambiente de prática, o esgotamento profissional e a satisfação no trabalho e suas relações com a intenção de sair entre enfermeiros clínicos. Método: Foi realizado um estudo transversal com 310 funcionários de enfermagem que trabalham em hospitais universitários regionais no sul de Taiwan. Os instrumentos utilizados incluíram questionários de ambiente de prática, satisfação no trabalho, esgotamento profissional e características sociodemográficas. Resultados: A modelagem de equações estruturais indicou que a satisfação no trabalho (β = -0,167) e o esgotamento profissional (β = 0,361) estavam significativa e diretamente associados à intenção de sair, enquanto o ambiente de prática estava significativa e diretamente associado à satisfação no trabalho (β = 0,447). O ambiente de prática (βindireto = -0,075) e o esgotamento profissional (βindireto = 0,060) estiveram significativa e indiretamente associados à intenção de sair por meio da satisfação no trabalho. Conclusão: O esgotamento profissional e a satisfação profissional estão diretamente associados à intenção de sair. Portanto, a melhoria do ambiente de prática e o subsequente esgotamento profissional poderiam ser estratégias para melhorar a satisfação no trabalho e diminuir a intenção de sair.
RESUMEN Objetivo: Para explorar la relación entre el entorno de práctica de las enfermeras clínicas, el agotamiento del trabajo, la satisfacción laboral y su relación con la tendencia a dejar el trabajo. Métodos: Se realizó una encuesta transversal de 310 enfermeros en hospitales de enseñanza en el sur de Taiwán. Las herramientas utilizadas incluyeron el entorno de la práctica, la satisfacción laboral, el agotamiento laboral y el cuestionario de características sociodemográficas. Resultados: El modelo de ecuaciones estructurales mostró que la satisfacción en el trabajo (β = -0.167) y el agotamiento en el trabajo (β = 0.361) se correlacionaron significativamente directamente con la tendencia a la separación del trabajo, mientras que el entorno de la pasantía se correlacionó significativamente directamente con la satisfacción en el trabajo (β = 0.447). El entorno de práctica (β-indirect = -0.075) y el agotamiento en el trabajo (β-indirect = 0.060) se correlacionaron significativamente e indirectamente con la intención de separación por satisfacción laboral. Conclusión: El agotamiento del trabajo y la satisfacción laboral están directamente relacionados con la tendencia a abandonar el trabajo. Por lo tanto, mejorar el entorno de pasantías y el agotamiento laboral resultante puede ser una estrategia para aumentar la satisfacción laboral y disminuir la tendencia a dejar el trabajo.

Objetivo: Identificar la prevalencia del síndrome de Burnout en residentes del servicio de Cirugía General del Hospital "Dr. Miguel Pérez Carreño" en el período comprendido entre 2018 y 2019.Método: Trabajo de campo, tipo prospectivo, descriptivo y transversal. Datos obtenidos por el cuestionario de Maslach Burnout Inventory. Organización de datos por técnica de estadística descriptiva, mediante programa Excel. Resultados: Se resalta niveles altos de cansancio emocional, agotamiento por trabajo, sensación de vacío al culminar, frustración en el trabajo y despersonalización. Conclusiones: Se Identificó el síndrome de Burnout en los residentes del servicio de Cirugía General del Hospital Dr. Miguel Pérez Carreño. Recomendaciones: Revisar exigencias en jornadas diarias para comparar la condición de trabajo en los servicios de cirugía y otras especialidades en el hospital(AU)
Objective: To identify the prevalence of Burnout syndrome in residents of the General Surgery service of the "Dr. Miguel Pérez Carreño" in the period between 2018 and 2019. Method: Field work, prospective, descriptive and transversal. Data obtained from the Maslach Burnout Inventory questionnaire. Organization of data by descriptive statistics technique, using Excel program. Results: High levels of emotional exhaustion, work exhaustion, feeling of emptiness upon completion, frustration at work and depersonalization are highlighted. Objective: to evaluate the association between different forms of childhood trauma and postpartum depression in Brazilian puerperal women. Method: this cross-sectional survey included 253 puerperal women who were evaluated using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale and the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire. Multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to verify the association of different types of trauma and the co-occurrence of forms of abuse and neglect with postpartum depression. Results: postpartum depression was identified in 93 women (36.8%; 95% Confidence Interval: 30.8-42.7). All forms of childhood trauma assessed (emotional abuse, emotional neglect, physical abuse, physical neglect and sexual abuse) were independently associated with postpartum depression after adjusting for confounding variables. Emotional abuse remained associated with postpartum depression when the co-occurrence of all forms of childhood trauma was analyzed. Conclusion: the results suggest an association between the different forms of childhood trauma and postpartum depression. In this sense, childhood trauma is an indicator for Nursing professionals to screen for risk factors of postpartum depression during obstetric_follow-up.
Objetivo: evaluar la asociación entre diferentes formas de traumas en la infancia y depresión posparto en puérperas brasileñas. Método: en este estudio transversal se incluyó a 253 puérperas que fueron evaluadas con la Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale y el Childhood Trauma Questionnaire . Se realizaron análisis de regresión logística multivariados para verificar la asociación de diferentes tipos de trauma y la coocurrencia de formas de abuso y negligencia con la depresión posparto. Resultados: se identificó depresión posparto en 93 mujeres (36,8%; intervalo de confianza del 95%: 30,8-42,7). Todas las formas de traumas en la infancia que se evaluaron (abuso emocional, negligencia emocional, abuso físico, negligencia física y abuso sexual) estuvieron asociadas de manera independiente con la depresión posparto después de ajustar por variables de confusión. El abuso emocional siguió estando asociado con la depresión posparto cuando se analizó la coocurrencia de todas las formas de traumas en la infancia. Conclusión: los resultados sugieren una asociación entre las diferentes formas de traumas en la infancia y la depresión posparto. En este sentido, los traumas en la infancia son un indicador para que los profesionales de Enfermería detecten factores de riesgo para la depresión posparto en los controles obstétricos.

Objetivo: Identificar a prevalência de síndrome de burnout e comparar a percepção da síndrome pré e pós-temporada em atletas sub-20 de futebol de campo. Metodologia: Participaram do estudo 48 atletas do sexo masculino de 5 clubes profissionais, com média de idade de 18,5 ± 0,7 anos. Para a coleta de dados utilizou-se uma ficha sociodemográfica e o Questionário de Burnout para Atletas (QBA). Para as médias das dimensões e burnout total foi utilizada a estatística descritiva. A normalidade dos dados foi considerada não-paramétrica por meio do teste de Shapiro-Wilk. Em seguida foi utilizado o teste de Wilcoxon para avaliar possíveis diferenças de sentimentos de burnout pré e pós-temporada. O nível de significância adotado foi p< 0,05. O tamanho de efeito foi medido pelo teste d de Cohen. Resultados e Discussão: Não foram encontradas diferenças significativas nas variações de sentimentos de burnout total e por dimensões antes e após a temporada (p>0,05) e o tamanho de efeito das comparações foi considerado pequeno (Cohen d < 0, 30). Conclusão: Os atletas apresentaram baixa prevalência de síndrome de burnout, tanto no início quanto no final da temporada. Quanto à percepção das dimensões de burnout, os atletas não apresentaram altos níveis, o que pode sinalizar que os atletas conseguem lidar de maneira adaptativa com as demandas tanto no âmbito esportivo como pessoal
Objective: To identify the prevalence of burnout syndrome and compare the perception of the syndrome before and after the season in under-20 field soccer athletes. Methodology: The study involved 48 male athletes from 5 professional clubs, with an average age of 18.46 ± 0.69 years. Data collection included a sociodemographic form and the Athlete Burnout Questionnaire (ABQ). Descriptive statistics were used for means of dimensions and total burnout. Data normality was considered non-parametric using the Shapiro-Wilk test. Subsequently, the Wilcoxon test was employed to assess potential differences in burnout feelings before and after the season. The adopted significance level was p < 0.05. Effect size was measured by Cohen's d test. Results and discussion: No significant differences were found in variations of total burnout feelings and by dimensions before and after the season (p > 0.05), and the effect size of the comparisons was considered small (Cohen d < 0.30). Conclusion: Athletes displayed a low prevalence of burnout syndrome, both at the beginning and end of the season. Regarding the perception of burnout dimensions, athletes did not exhibit high levels, which may indicate that athletes can adaptively cope with demands in both the sports and personal spheres.

Luego se utilizó la prueba de Wilcoxon para evaluar posibles diferencias en los sentimientos de burnout antes y después de la temporada. El nivel de significancia adoptado fue p < 0,05. El tamaño del efecto se midió mediante la prueba d de Cohen. Resultados y discusión: No se encontraron diferencias significativas en las variaciones de los sentimientos de burnout total y por dimensiones antes y después de la temporada (p > 0,05), y el tamaño del efecto de las comparaciones se consideró pequeño (Cohen d < 0,30). Conclusión: Los deportistas mostraron una baja prevalencia del síndrome de burnout, tanto al comienzo como al final de la temporada. En cuanto a la percepción de las dimensiones de burnout, los deportistas no presentaron niveles altos, lo que podría indicar que los deportistas pueden enfrentar de manera adaptativa las demandas tanto en el ámbito deportivo como en el personal.

Objetivo: El médico residente de urología está inmerso en situaciones académicas y extraacadémicas que pueden generar agotamiento, desinterés, autosabotaje frente a sus actividades y dudas acerca del valor del estudio, lo cual conduce al síndrome de burnout en un contexto académico. Este síndrome puede desencadenar deserción, bajo rendimiento académico, baja autoestima y frustración personal. El objetivo de este estudio es determinar la prevalencia del síndrome de burnout académico en los residentes de urología en Colombia y proponer estrategias que permitan evitar o disminuir el síndrome de burnout académico en el contexto colombiano. Método: Estudio de corte transversal, con muestreo por conveniencia en médicos residentes de urología de los diferentes programas académicos de posgrado en Colombia. El instrumento aplicado fue la escala de medición Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey (MBI-SS). Resultados: La prevalencia de burnout académico en residentes de urología de Colombia es del 59,5% (IC95%: 59,4-59,6%). Se categorizan las áreas de posible intervención en cuatro dimensiones: a) administración de tiempo; b) estrategias de formación; c) actividades extracurriculares, y d) cuidados de salud mental. Conclusiones: El síndrome de burnout académico afecta al 59,5% de los residentes de urología de Colombia. Las actividades para prevenir y tratar el burnout académico se pueden enfocar en: organización del tiempo de las actividades académicas, tiempos reservados para investigación, actividades asistenciales y actividades extraacadémicas; desarrollo de rutas de apoyo emocionales/académicas; promoción sobre actividades de bienestar universitario.
Objective: The urology resident is involved in academic and extra-academic situations that can generate exhaustion, disinterest, self-sabotage, and doubts about the value of this own study methods; this context leads to burnout syndrome in an academic context. This syndrome can trigger dropout, low academic performance, low self-esteem, and personal frustration. The objective of this study is to determine the prevalence of academic burnout syndrome in urology residents in Colombia, and to propose strategies to avoid or reduce academic burnout syndrome in the Colombian context. Method: Cross-sectional study with convenience sampling in urology residents of all postgraduate academic programs of Colombia. The instrument applied was the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey (MBI-SS) measurement scale. Results: The prevalence of academic burnout in urology residents in Colombia is 59.5% (IC95%: 59.4-59.6%). The areas of possible intervention are categorized into four dimensions: a) time management; b) training strategies; c) extracurricular activities management, and d) mental health care. Conclusions: Academic burnout syndrome affects 59.5% of urology residents in Colombia. Activities to prevent and treat academic burnout can be focused on: organization of time for academic activities, time reserved for research and extracurricular activities, development of emotional and academical support routes, promotion of university wellness activities.

Abstract This study aimed to verify the prevalence of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Burnout Syndrome and the potential correlations between the dimensions of both conditions among Brazilian college students. A total of 751 students participated; 71.9% were women, aged 23 on average (SD = 3.46). The instruments included a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Adult Self-Report Scale (ASRS-18), and the Maslach Burnout Scale for Students (MBI-SS). Regarding the sex variable, men scored lower for emotional exhaustion and higher for professional achievement. The inattention facet of ADHD was positively correlated with the emotional exhaustion and depersonalization dimension and negatively correlated with professional achievement, suggesting a connection between the disorder and the syndrome. This study is expected to contribute to the development of preventive programs and intervention protocols especially designed to promote the mental health of students attending public and private educational institutions and experiencing academic burnout.
Resumo O objetivo desta pesquisa foi verificar a prevalência do Transtorno de Déficit de Atenção e Hiperatividade (TDAH) e síndrome de Burnout e as possíveis correlações entre suas dimensões em universitários brasileiros. Participaram 751 estudantes, 71,9% do sexo feminino e idade média 23 anos (DP = 3,46). Os instrumentos foram um Questionário sociodemográfico, a Adult Self-Report Scale (ASRS-18) e a Escala de Burnout de Maslach para Estudantes (MBI-SS). Quanto a variável sexo, o masculino apresentou menores pontuações para exaustão emocional e maiores para eficácia profissional. A faceta desatenção do TDAH apresentou correlações positivas com as dimensões exaustão emocional e descrença e correlações negativas com eficácia profissional, configurando entrelaçamentos do transtorno com a síndrome. O estudo pode contribuir para a elaboração de programas de prevenção e protocolos de intervenção especialmente para o burnout acadêmico em instituições de ensino públicas e privadas que favoreçam a saúde mental dos estudantes.
Resumen El objetivo deste estudio fue verificar la prevalencia del Trastorno por Déficit de Atención e Hiperactividad (TDAH) y del Síndrome de Burnout y las posibles correlaciones entre sus dimensiones en estudiantes universitarios brasileños. Participaron 751 estudiantes, 71,9% eran mujeres y la edad media 23 años (DE = 3,46). Los instrumentos fueron un cuestionario sociodemográfico, la Escala de Autoinforme de Adult (ASRS-18) y la Escala de Burnout para Estudiantes de Maslach (MBI-SS). En cuanto a la variable género, los varones obtuvieron puntuaciones más bajas en agotamiento emocional y más altas en eficacia profesional. La faceta inatención del TDAH mostró correlaciones positivas con las dimensiones agotamiento emocional e incredulidad y negativas con eficacia profesional, configurando entrelazamiento del trastorno con el síndrome. El estudio puede contribuir al desarrollo de programas de prevención y protocolos de intervención, especialmente para burnout académico en instituciones educativas públicas y privadas, que promuevan salud mental de los estudiantes.

ABSTRACT Objective The study aimed to assess the factors associated with burnout among university students studying online during the COVID-19 lockdown, with a focus on nutrition and lifestyle habits. Methods This cross-sectional web-based study was conducted with university students in Türkiye. Demographic characteristics, dietary habits, dietary supplement usage, the Multidimensional COVID-19 scale, and the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Scale of university students were questioned with an online survey. Results: A total of 747 students (health science faculties:68.9% and non-health faculties:31.1%) participated in the study. Non-health sciences students had higher median scores of emotional exhaustion (17 vs 15), cynicism (13 vs 10), and total Multi-Dimensional COVID-19 scale (84 vs 80) than health sciences students (respectively; p=0.001, p<0.001, p<0.001). The emotional exhaustion score was positively associated with thoughts about COVID-19 (β=0.266, p<0.001) and negatively with paying attention to diet (β=-1,142, p=0.005). Students who consumed meat, eggs, and legumes at least once a day had lower emotional exhaustion (β=-0.925, p=0.029), cynicism scores (β=-0.804, p=0.025), and higher academic efficacy (β= 0.550, p=0.034). Consumption of milk and dairy products at least once a day was negatively related to emotional exhaustion (β=-0.844, p=0.033) and cynicism (β=-0.817, p=0.015). Students who consumed at least five daily portions of fruit and vegetables had greater academic efficacy (β=0.669, No-BreakpNo-Break=0.015). Conclusion Faculty, grade, thoughts about COVID-19, precautions taken related to COVID-19, and paying attention to diet are the factors that affect students' burnout during the COVID-19 pandemic. Health education and adopting healthy eating habits are beneficial for combating burnout in critical periods such as pandemics.
RESUMO Objetivo O estudo teve como objetivo avaliar os fatores associados ao burnout entre estudantes universitários que estudaram online durante o bloqueio da COVID-19, com foco em hábitos nutricionais e de estilo de vida. Métodos Este estudo transversal baseado na web foi realizado com estudantes universitários em Türkiye. Características demográficas, comportamentos nutricionais, uso de suplementos nutricionais, escala Multidimensional COVID-19 e Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Scale de estudantes universitários foram questionados por meio de um questionário online. Resultados Um total de 747 estudantes (faculdades de ciências da saúde: 68,9% e faculdades não relacionadas à saúde: 31,1%) participaram do estudo. Estudantes de áreas não relacionadas à saúde apresentaram maiores pontuações medianas em exaustão emocional, cinismo e pontuação total na escala Multi-Dimensional COVID-19 do que estudantes de ciências da saúde. A pontuação de exaustão emocional estava positivamente associada aos pensamentos sobre a COVID-19 (β=0,266, p<0,001) e negativamente associada à atenção à dieta (β=-1.142, p=0,005). Estudantes que consumiram carne, ovos e legumes pelo menos uma vez ao dia tiveram menores pontuações de exaustão emocional (β=-0,925, p=0,029) e cinismo (β= -0,804, p=0,025), e maior eficácia acadêmica (β=0,550, p=0,034). O consumo diário de leite e produtos lácteos foi negativamente relacionado à exaustão emocional (β=-0,844, p=0,033) e cinismo (β=-0,817, p=0,015). Estudantes que consumiram pelo menos cinco porções diárias de frutas e vegetais tiveram uma maior eficácia acadêmica (β=0,669, p=0,015). Conclusão Faculdade, série, pensamentos sobre a COVID-19, precauções relacionadas à COVID-19 e atenção à dieta são os fatores que afetam o burnout dos estudantes durante a pandemia da COVID-19. A educação em saúde e a adoção de hábitos alimentares saudáveis são benéficas para combater o burnout em períodos críticos, como pandemias.

Abstract Objective: To determine the prevalence of anxiety, depression and burnout in residents of Gynecology and Obstetrics during COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil and its associated factors. Methods: Cross-sectional study involving all regions of Brazil, through the application of a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HAD) and the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI-HSS) instrument. Multivariate analysis was performed after adjusting the Poisson model. Results: Among the 719 participating medical residents, screening was positive for anxiety in 75.7% and for depression in 49.8% of cases. Burnout syndrome was evidenced in 41.3% of the physicians studied. Those with depression are more likely to have anxiety (OR 0.797; 95%CI 0.687 - 0.925) and burnout syndrome (OR 0.847 95%CI 0.74 - 0.97). Residents with anxiety (OR 0.805; 95%CI 0.699 - 0.928) and burnout (OR 0.841; 95%CI 0.734 - 0.963) are more likely to have depression. Conclusion: High prevalence of anxiety, depression and burnout were found in residents of Gynecology and Obstetrics in Brazil, in addition to important correlations between anxiety-depression and depression-burnout.
