The study examines the psychometric characteristics of a scale that measures the perception of female teleworking in the Chilean population in a situation of family confinement, built during the COVID-19 pandemic. The questionnaire explores the interaction between the spheres of work and family, specifically focusing on mental health, attitudes towards female teleworking, family dynamics related to female teleworking, and work dynamics in the context of female teleworking during the pandemic. The results indicate strong internal coherence both for the global scale and for its four differentiated dimensions: Mental Health, work environment, female teleworking and family environment. The exploratory factor analysis (EFA) reveals favorable adjustment indices df = 17; p<0.183; χ 2 /df = 22.211; CFI = 0.995; NNFI = 0.983; RMSEA = 0.052 for the 12 items in the four dimensions, aligning well with the theoretical structure supporting the foundations of the work/family balance construct.

Introduction: During the last two decades, the concept of social capital has been used increasingly frequently in health sciences due to the direct and indirect relationships between social capital and populations' physical and mental health. Therefore, it is necessary to build an instrument to quantify this concept confidently and reliably. Objective: The study aimed to internal consistency and dimensionality of a seven-item scale to measure social capital in Colombia's general population of adults. Methods: An online validation study included a sample of 700 adults aged between 18 and 76 years; 68% were females. Participants completed a seven-item scale called the Cognitive Social Capital Scale (CSCS). Cronbach's alpha and McDonald's omega were computed to test internal consistency. The authors explore the internal consistency and dimensionality of the CSCS. Results: The CSCS presented a low internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha of 0.56 and McDonald's omega of 0.59) and poor dimensionality. Then, the researchers tested a five-item version (CSCS-5). The CSCS-5 showed high internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha of 0.79 and McDonald's omega of 0.80) and a one-dimension structure with acceptable goodness-of-fit indicators. Discussion: The CSCS-5 presents high internal consistency and a one-dimensional structure to measure cognitive capital social in the Colombian sample. Authors can recommend measuring social capital in the general Colombian population. Further research should corroborate this pencil and paper application findings and explore other reliability and validity indicators.

RESUMEN

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: The identification and understanding of dietary factors and other characteristics that influence gestational weight gain can contribute to the formulation of strategies to promote healthy eating habits before and during pregnancy. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the association between dietary patterns, sociodemographic and obstetric characteristics, and health-related behaviors in pregnant women. DESIGN AND SETTING: A cross-sectional study was conducted on women undergoing prenatal care in the Unified Health System of Colombo, Paraná, Brazil, from February 2018 to September 2019. METHOD: A weekly food frequency questionnaire was administered, and dietary patterns were identified through factor analysis. Median regression models were constructed to identify the associations between dietary pattern scores and variables. RESULTS: Complete data were obtained from 495 pregnant women. Three dietary patterns were identified: 1) "healthy," with higher factor loadings for the weekly consumption of raw vegetables, cooked vegetables, and fresh fruits; 2) "Western," including soft drinks or artificial juice, candies, milk, and dairy products, and processed cold meat; and 3) "traditional," beans and meat. Pregnant women aged 30 years or older (coefficient [Coef.] 0.86, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.38-1.33) with moderate/intense physical activity (Coef. 0.32, 95% CI 0.02-0.62) had higher adherence to the "healthy" pattern. Adolescents and smokers adhered more to the "traditional" pattern (Coef. 0.17, 95% CI 0.01-0.33). CONCLUSION: Age, smoking status, and physical activity were associated with dietary patterns in pregnant women.

RESUMEN

Objective:To investigate the influential factors of patients' expectations for clinical decision-making during digestive endoscopy. Methods:A total of 120 patients who underwent digestive endoscopy were admitted to the Endoscopy Center of Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital from January 2020 to January 2022. Their general information was collected, and their clinical decision-making expectations were evaluated using the Control Preference Scale (CPS). The influential factors of clinical decision-making expectations were determined using multiple linear regression analysis. Results:The total CPS score for 120 patients undergoing digestive endoscopy was (50.72 ± 5.48) points, including (14.12 ± 1.48) points for information needs, (25.17 ± 3.52) points for communication needs, and (11.43 ± 2.04) points for decision-making needs. Univariate analysis showed that the CPS score of patients undergoing digestive endoscopy was related to gender, age, marital status, educational level, number of children, and type of visit ( t = 2.68, 2.61, 2.82, 3.28, 3.61, 2.39, all P < 0.05). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that gender, age, educational level, and type of visit were the influential factors of clinical decision-making expectations for patients undergoing digestive endoscopy ( β = -0.71, 1.07, 0.53, -1.15, all P < 0.05). Conclusion:Gender, age, educational level, and type of visit are influential factors of patients' expectations for clinical decision-making during digestive endoscopy. Patients have a clear need for communication during clinical decision-making, and medical staff can strengthen communication with patients, correctly guiding them to participate in clinical decision-making expectations.

RESUMEN

Objective:To investigate the incidence and risk factors of ultrafiltration failure (UFF) in patients undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD).Methods:The clinical data of 65 patients undergoing CAPD at the Hubei Provincial Corps Hospital of Chinese People's Armed Police Forces and the General Hospital of Central Theater Command from January 2016 to December 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. The clinical data included patient history, smoking history, duration of peritoneal dialysis, incidence of peritonitis, levels of hemoglobin, albumin, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, total cholesterol, and triglyceride. Univariate and multivariate regression analyses were conducted to investigate the correlation between UFF and various indicators in patients undergoing CAPD.Results:Among the 65 patients undergoing CAPD, the incidence of UFF was 35.4% (23/65). There were significant differences in duration of peritoneal dialysis, history of peritonitis, history of type 2 diabetes mellitus, serum albumin, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and triglyceride between patients with UFF and those without UFF ( t = -5.05, χ2 = 11.51, 6.83, t = 5.91, -3.28, -2.83, all P < 0.05). Multivariate regression analysis showed that albumin was negatively correlated with UFF ( r = -1.06, P < 0.05), while duration of peritoneal dialysis, level of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and peritonitis were positively correlated with UFF ( r = 0.43, 2.20, 1.67, all P < 0.05). Conclusion:Peritoneal dialysis duration, peritonitis, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol are risk factors for UFF in patients undergoing CAPD, while albumin is a protective factor against UFF in these patients.

RESUMEN

Objective:To investigate the risk factors for recurrence of benign vocal cord lesions after microsurgery. Methods:The clinical data of 2 214 patients with benign vocal cord lesions who underwent laryngeal microsurgery at the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Affiliated Hospital of Yangzhou University from April 2013 to April 2022 were collected. The data, including sex, age, drinking history, smoking history, unilateral and bilateral lesions, and diagnosis, were recorded. These patients were divided into six groups according to admission diagnosis: polyps, Reinke's edema, leukoplakia, granulomas, cysts, and other benign lesions. All patients were followed up for 0-115 months, with a median follow-up time of 55 months. The Kaplan-Meier curve was used to determine whether there was any difference in the recurrence rate of benign vocal cord lesions among groups after surgical treatment. The Cox regression model was used to analyze the risk factors for the recurrence of benign vocal cord lesions after surgical treatment. Results:Out of the 2 214 patients, there were 1 953 cases of polyps (88.21%), 41 cases of granulomas (1.85%), 67 cases of cysts (3.03%), 87 cases of leukoplakia (3.93%), 34 cases of Reinke's edema (1.54%), and 32 cases of other benign lesions (1.45%). The recurrence rate for benign vocal cord lesions was 4.86% (95/1 953) in the polyp group, 31.70% (13/41) in the granuloma group, 14.94% (13/87) in the leukoplakia group, 2.98% (2/67) in the cysts group, 8.82% (3/34) in the Reinke's edema group, and 9.37% (3/32) in the other benign lesions group. Univariate analysis showed that bilateral lesions (95% CI 6.899-17.289, P < 0.001), smoking history (95% CI 1.282-2.564, P = 0.001), and alcohol consumption (95% CI 1.173-2.346, P = 0.001) were significantly associated with the recurrence of benign vocal cord lesions. The recurrence rate for benign vocal cord lesions in the leukoplakia group (95% CI 1.375-27.011, P = 0.017) and granuloma group (95% CI 3.053-60.980, P = 0.001) was significantly higher than that in the cysts group. Multivariate analysis of the risk factors for postoperative recurrence of benign vocal cord lesions showed that patients who had bilateral lesions (95% CI 6.680-16.900, P < 0.001) and a history of smoking (95% CI 1.572-16.157, P = 0.007) had a higher risk of recurrence of benign vocal cord lesions compared with those without bilateral lesions and a history of smoking. Granulomas were found to be significantly associated with postoperative recurrence of benign vocal cord lesions (95% CI 4.691-97.667, P < 0.05). Conclusion:Bilateral lesions and smoking are independent risk factors for the recurrence of benign vocal cord lesions after microsurgery. Granuloma is strongly associated with the postoperative recurrence of benign vocal cord lesions.

RESUMEN

Objective:To investigate electrocardiogram (ECG) characteristics and related factors of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) complicated by depressive disorder. Methods:The clinical data of 243 patients with GDM who received treatment at Peking University Third Hospital from September 2021 to December 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. According to the scoring results of the Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS), these patients were divided into an observation group (GDM + depressive disorder, n = 51) and a control group (GDM alone, n = 192). The χ2 test was used to analyze the relationship between GDM complicated by depressive disorder and ECG diagnosis results. Additionally, the t-test was used to compare ECG indicators between the two groups. Results:Compared with the control group, patients in the observation group had a higher incidence of abnormal ECG indicators, including bradycardia ( χ2 = 4.68, P = 0.030), premature contraction ( χ2 = 10.78, P = 0.001), and atrioventricular block ( χ2 = 15.04, P < 0.001). However, there were no significant differences in the incidences of tachycardia, bundle branch block, or ST-T changes between the two groups (all P > 0.05). Compared with the control group, the observation group exhibited significantly increased heart rate [(73.43 ± 8.24) beats/min vs. (67.22 ± 5.08) beats/min], maximum QT interval [(419.09 ± 36.00) ms vs. (351.95 ± 32.07) ms], minimum QT interval [(363.31 ± 30.78) ms vs. (316.52 ± 29.10) ms], and QT dispersion [(55.78 ± 17.87) ms vs. (35.42 ± 13.18) ms, t = -5.13, -12.95, -10.08, -7.60, all P < 0.001]. Conclusion:Among patients with gestational diabetes mellitus, those with depressive disorder have an increased risk of exhibiting abnormal electrocardiogram patterns compared with those without depressive disorder.

RESUMEN

Objective To investigate the recurrence of immune thrombocytopenia(ITP)in children and to establish a predictive model. Methods A total of 288 children with ITP admitted to Children's Hospital of Wujiang District and Children's Hospital Affiliated to Suzhou University from January 2018 to April 2022 were collected. The factors potentially related to the recurrence of ITP in children were screened. The children in the model group were divided into 2 groups according to the presence or absence of recurrence and the indicators of the 2 groups were compared. After screening the potential influencing factors by LASSO regression and the independent influencing factors of relapse in children with ITP patients by Logstic regression analysis,we constructed a column-line graph model by using R language and validated it.Results A total of 37(18.47%)of 201 patients in the model group experienced relapse. The age, blood type, duration of disease before treatment, antecedent infections, bleeding, initial treatment regimen, antinuclear antibody titer, initial count and mean platelet volume, initial platelet distri-bution width, initial peripheral blood lymphocyte count and time length to effective platelet count after treatment were found in the recurrence group versus the non-recurrence group The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The results of multifactorial logistic regression analysis performed on the basis of LASSO regression showed that blood type, duration of illness before treatment, antecedent infection, initial treatment regimen,ini-tial peripheral blood lymphocyte count, and time to effective platelet count after treatment were independent influ-ences on the conversion of cough variant asthma to classic asthma in children.Based on the results of the multifac-torial analysis,a column chart model for predicting ITP recurrence in children was developed in R.The results of the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)analysis showed that the area under curve(AUC)of the column chart model for predicting ITP recurrence in children in the modeling group was 0.867[95%CI(0.796,0.938)]with a sensitivity of 84.2%and a specificity of 73.1%,and that in the validation group, the AUC was 0.838[95%CI(0.765),0.911]with a sensitivity of 82.3%and a specificity of 78.4%,0.911)]sensitivity was 82.3%and specificity was 78.4%.The Bootstrap method was used to repeat the sampling 1000 times, and the validation group was used for validation. The results of the calibration curve showed that the prediction curves of the model group and the validation group were basically fitted with the standard curve, suggesting that the model prediction accuracy was high. The results of the decision curve analysis of the model group showed that the net benefit rate of patients was greater than zero when the probability threshold of the column line graph model of pre-dicting ITP recurrence in children was 0.15-0.75.Conclusions ITP recurrence in children is mainly affected by the patient's age, blood type, and pre-treatment course of the disease, and the column-line diagram model based on these factors has a high accuracy and differentiation for ITP recurrence in parenting children.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND:Anterior cruciate ligament avulsion fracture at tibial insertion is a special type of intra-articular fracture, which is mostly seen in sports injuries. At present, there are relatively few anatomical studies on this disease, but a large number of studies focus on the injury of the anterior cruciate ligament. It is generally believed that the increase in the posterior slope of the tibial plateau, the decrease of the depth of the medial tibial plateau, and the decrease in the width index of the femoral intercondylar notch are the risk factors for the injury of the anterior cruciate ligament. It is unclear whether avulsion fractures of the anterior cruciate ligament at the tibial insertion point are also related to it. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the correlation between the avulsion fracture of the anterior cruciate ligament at the tibial insertion and the posterior tibial slope, the medial tibial depth, the notch width index of the femoral intercondylar fossa, and the coronal slope angle of the tibial plateau. METHODS:A retrospective analysis was made on 101 patients who were admitted to the Department of Orthopedics of Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University due to anterior knee pain from January 2019 to December 2022.Totally 51 patients with tibial insertion avulsion fracture of anterior cruciate ligament who received arthroscopy treatment were taken as the observation group, and 50 patients with anterior knee pain but no knee joint injury confirmed by physical examination and imaging examination were taken as the control group in the same period. The posterior tibial slope, anatomical parameters such as the medial tibial depth, and the notch width index of the femoral intercondylar fossa, were statistically analyzed for the anatomical risk factors leading to the tibial insertion avulsion fracture of the anterior cruciate ligament. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1)There was no significant difference between the two groups in the comparison of the lateral posterior tibial slope, the posterior slope ratio of the lateral/medial tibial plateau, the notch width index of the femoral intercondylar fossa, and the coronary slope angle of the tibial plateau(P>0.05).The medial posterior tibial slope in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The medial tibial depth in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).(2)Multifactor logistic regression analysis showed that the medial posterior tibial slope and the medial tibial depth were independent risk factors for tibial insertion avulsion fracture of anterior cruciate ligament(P<0.05).(3)The receiver operating characteristic curve shows that the medial posterior tibial slope and the medial tibial depth had certain predictive values for the tibial insertion avulsion fracture of the anterior cruciate ligament.(4)It is indicated that the increased medial posterior tibial slope and the shallower medial tibial depth are the anatomical risk factors for the avulsion fracture of the tibial insertion of the anterior cruciate ligament.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND:Cervical rotatory manipulation is widely used in the treatment of neck-related diseases with a clear curative effect, but it also has some risks in clinical practice. The previous study of our group found that cervical rotatory manipulation can reduce the tensile mechanical properties of the atherosclerotic carotid artery, but it is not clear about the effects of different cervical rotatory manipulations(positioning/non-positioning)and different degrees(mild/moderate/severe)of atherosclerosis on the tensile mechanical properties of the carotid artery. OBJECTIVE:To explore the effects of different cervical rotatory manipulations and different degrees of atherosclerosis on the tensile mechanical properties of the internal carotid artery. METHODS:The 120 male New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into eight experimental groups with different degrees of atherosclerosis and different cervical rotatory manipulations:severe atherosclerosis + positioning/non-positioning cervical rotatory manipulation, moderate atherosclerosis + positioning/non-positioning cervical rotatory manipulation, mild atherosclerosis + positioning/non-positioning cervical rotatory manipulation, and normal rabbit + positioning/non-positioning cervical rotatory manipulation,as well as three model control groups:mild/moderate/severe atherosclerosis + non-cervical rotatory manipulation, and the blank control group.Two-factor analysis of variance was used to explore the main effects and interactive effects of different cervical rotatory manipulations and different degrees of atherosclerosis on the tensile mechanical properties of the internal carotid artery.One-way analysis of variance was applied to explore the influence of different cervical rotatory manipulations on the tensile mechanical properties of the internal carotid artery under the same degree of atherosclerosis. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1)Both different cervical rotatory manipulations and different degrees of atherosclerosis were the main effect factors affecting the tensile mechanical properties of the internal carotid artery.(2)For both mild and severe atherosclerosis, both positioning and non-positioning cervical rotatory manipulations reduced the maximum stress of the internal carotid artery(P<0.05)and also increased the physiological elastic modulus of the internal carotid artery(P<0.05).(3)For moderate atherosclerosis, positioning and non-positioning cervical rotatory manipulations also increased the physiological elastic modulus of the internal carotid artery(P<0.05).Non-positioning cervical rotatory manipulation reduced the maximum strain of the internal carotid artery(P<0.05),and its maximum strain was also less than the internal carotid artery of the positioning cervical rotatory manipulations(P<0.05).(4)For the normal internal carotid artery,in addition to the maximum strain, both positioning and non-positioning cervical rotatory manipulations had no statistically significant effects on other tensile mechanical indicators of the internal carotid artery(P>0.05).(5)The results suggest that both positioning and non-positioning cervical rotatory manipulations may increase the stiffness of the atherosclerotic internal carotid artery, reducing its elasticity and brittleness. Therefore, both positioning and non-positioning cervical rotatory manipulations may increase the risk of cardiovascular events in mild/moderate/severe atherosclerotic internal carotid artery, and the more severe the atherosclerosis is,the greater the risk of positioning/non-positioning cervical rotatory manipulation treatment, but the risk of positioning cervical rotatory manipulation is not lower than that of non-positioning cervical rotatory manipulation.

ObjectiveTo study the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndromes of children with alopecia areata, and provide evidence for TCM differentiation and treatment in clinic. MethodsA retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 800 children with alopecia areata admitted to the Hair Medicine Center of the China-Japan Friendship Hospital from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2021. The clinical data of the children were collected using a four-examination information questionnaire, including clinical characteristics (age of consultation, age of onset, course of disease, family history, severity grading), alopecia areata-related factors (triggers), and four-examination information (including sleep, diet, emotions, bladder and bowel function, etc.). Descriptive frequency analyses, rank sum tests, factor analyses and cluster analyses were performed, and the distribution of the major TCM syndromes was summarised with the clinical data. ResultsThere were 800 children with alopecia areata, including 449 males and 351 females; 8 cases (1.00%) were in infancy, 36 cases (4.50%) were in early childhood, 180 cases (22.50%) were in preschool, 380 cases (47.50%) were in school age, and 196 cases (24.50%) were in puberty at the time of consultation; the average age of consultation was 8.31±3.86 years, the average age of onset of disease was 5.40±3.82 years, and the average duration of disease was 2.94±2.77 years; 527 children (65.87%) with severe alopecia areata; 85 children (13.56%) had a family history of alopecia areata; 772 children (96.50%) had unknown triggers for their first alopecia areata, and 28 children (3.50%) reported the presence of obvious triggers, including fright (9 cases), high fever (5 cases), allergic reactions (4 cases), micronutrient (zinc, iron, etc.) deficiencies (4 cases), inappropriate diet (2 cases), environmental factors (1 case, new house renovation), atopic dermatitis (1 case), atopic asthma (1 case), and pneumonia (1 case). A total of 40 four-examination information items were collected, among which the frequency of kicking quilts was the highest with 380 cases (47.50%), followed by picky eating (369 cases, 46.13%), sleeplessness (334 cases, 41.75%), irritability (334 cases, 41.75%), partiality towards certain foods (306 cases, 38.25%), impulsiveness (297 cases, 37.13%), dry stools (233 cases, 29.13%), yellow urine (215 cases, 26.88%), nail biting (213 cases, 26.63%), bad breath (211 cases, 26.38%). According to factor analysis and cluster analysis, five types of TCM syndromes were obtained, in order as qi and blood deficiency syndrome (110 cases, 13.75%), spleen deficiency syndrome (114 cases, 14.25%), kidney essence deficiency syndrome (140 cases, 17.50%), dietary stagnation syndrome (150 cases, 18.75%), and liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome (286 cases, 35.75%). Patients in each age group and SALT grading are mainly liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome. ConclusionThe TCM symptoms of children with alopecia areata are mainly based on qi and blood deficiency syndrome, spleen deficiency syndrome, kidney essence deficiency syndrome, dietary stagnation syndrome, and liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome, of which liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome is the most common type at different ages and stages of the disease.

RESUMEN

Objective@#To explore the pattern of change of axial length/curvatrue radius ratio (AL/CR) and associated factors in primary and secondary school students in Yunnan, so as to provide scientific basis and prospective guidance for early myopia intervention and control.@*Methods@#A total of 685 students from grades 2 to 3 and grade 7 in 2 cities/counties in Yunnan Province were selected by multi stage stratified random cluster sampling method in 2020. All the participants were followed up twice with questionnaire of myopia related factors, uncorrected distance visual acuity, and refractive parameter measurement from October,2021 and March,2023,respectivelty. The distribution and change of AL/CR in different classes and groups were analyzed, and the influencing factos of AL/CR cumulative progression were explored using generalized linear model.@*Results@#AL/CR ratio in primary school students was (2.95±0.09) at baseline, increased to (2.99±0.11) at the first follow up and (3.04±0.12) at the second follow up. AL/CR ratio in middle school students(3.08±0.13) at baseline, increased to (3.12±0.15) at the first follow up and (3.15±0.14) at the second follow up. The generalized linear model showed that after controlling for environmental factors, ethnicity ( β =-0.017) , cumulative progression of the SE ( β =-0.027) influenced the changes of AL/CR ratio among the primary school students, whereas the changes of AL/CR ratio were associated with baseline AL ( β =-0.005), baseline corneal curvatrue radius ( β =0.032) and cumulative progression of SE( β =-0.035) among middle school students ( P <0.05).@*Conclusions@#The AL/CR ratio of primary and secondary school students in Yunnan can be used to judge different refractive status types, but its variation is not only related to SE progression, but also affected by different ethnic groups and baseline ocular biological parameters. so the value of AL/CR application in assessing the progression of myopia needs to be further confirmed.

Abstract The original structure of the Scale of Job Satisfaction (SJS) consists of five first-order factors (Model 1), corresponding to the specific level of the job satisfaction (JS) construct. However, studies suggested two other structures, each with one or two second-order factors, representing the overall level (Model 3) and the intermediate level (Model 2) respectively. This study aimed to test these three structural models for the SJS to determine which one provided the best fit. Data from 200 workers who completed the short version of the SJS were analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis and a chi-squared difference test. The results indicated a good fit for all three models. However, Model 2 showed the best fit, followed by Models 1 and 3. It was concluded that the SJS can be used to measure the three levels of the JS construct.

Abstract This study aims to present evidence for the validity of the Over-indebtedness Protection and Risk Scale (OPRIS). The instrument was constructed to assess attitudinal aspects (behavioral, cognitive, and affective) that prevent or encourage over-indebtedness, considered a serious social problem. Four hundred and forty-four adults participated in the online version. Exploratory Factor Analysis revealed the presence of two factors: protection against over-indebtedness (13 items) and risk of over-indebtedness (21 items), with good levels of adjustment. Criterion validity showed that both factors differentiated groups in terms of self-perceived stress, financial concern, presence/absence of debt, and consumption profile. OPRIS is considered to have the potential to help formulate public policies aimed at addressing the phenomenon of over-indebtedness.

Abstract Introduction The Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (INCOM) was developed to measure individual differences in social comparison orientation and has been widely used in research and various different settings. Objectives The aim of this study was to adapt the online version of the INCOM and to evaluate its psychometric parameters when applied to a Brazilian population of university students. Methods The procedures were divided into two steps: step 1 - cross-cultural adaptation and analysis of content validity, and step 2 - assessment of psychometric characteristics. Step 1 comprised the processes of translation, evaluation by an expert committee, evaluation by the target population, and back-translation. For step 2, 1,065 university students were recruited and then factor analysis, analysis of reliability, and analysis of validity based on external measures were performed. Results The adaptation process yielded satisfactory results, including good indicators of content validity. Exploratory factor analysis revealed a two-dimensional structure and adequate factor loadings, except for item 11, which was excluded from the final version. Additionally, the final version of the scale had adequate fit indices (χ2 = 148.45, degrees of freedom [df] = 26; p < 0.001; root mean square error of approximation [RMSEA] = 0.06; comparative fit index [CFI] = 0.99; and Tucker-Lewis index [TLI] = 0.98). Evidence of reliability (Cronbach's alpha = 0.83) was observed and there were positive correlations with negative affect (r = 0.36) and negative correlations with positive affect and self-esteem (r = -0.15; r = -0.41, respectively). Conclusion The Brazilian version of the INCOM presents satisfactory psychometric parameters and can thus be used to measure social comparison orientation.

RESUMEN

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Neonatal pain management is considered one of the eight principles of neonatal care. This study aims to investigate the construct reflecting neonatal non-pharmacological pain management, in a Brazilian rooming-in unit, and identify the preferred intervention. METHODS: This survey study included 47 health professionals assessed through an in-person questionnaire. Factor analysis was conducted with a rotation using the Varimax method. Cronbach's alpha was 0.78. RESULTS: The construct comprised three factors in the following order: 1) knowledge and impact of neonatal pain on parents, 2) the benefits of pain treatment, and 3) non-pharmacological interventions. Breastfeeding is part of the first factor, revealing its particular importance. The reduction of luminosity is part of the second factor. Non-nutritive sucking with sweet solution, kangaroo position, and music therapy are part of the third factor. CONCLUSION: The construct observed in this rooming-in identified three factors and suggests that breastfeeding is the preferred intervention to implement for non-pharmacological pain management in the neonate.
