RÉSUMÉ

Objective:To investigate the topological properties of whole-brain functional networks in first-episode drug-na?ve adolescents with major depressive disorder (MDD).Methods:Seventy-six first-episode drug-na?ve adolescents with MDD admitted to Department of Neurology, Xiangyang No.1 Hospital Affilated to Hubei University of Medicince from January 2022 to January 2023 were selected as study subjects; 66 gender- and age-matched healthy controls (HCs) were recruited via advertisement. All subjects underwent resting-state functional MRI. The whole-brain functional networks were constructed for each subject; and then, the global topological metrics (global efficiency, local efficiency, clustering coefficient, characteristic path length, normalized clustering coefficient, normalized characteristic path length, and small-worldness properties) and local topological metrics (nodal degree centrality, nodal efficiency and nodal betweenness centrality) of the functional brain networks were analyzed between the two groups using graph-theory methods. Network-based statistics were used to examine between-group differences in functional connectivity strength of whole brain networks. Results:Small-worldness properties were demonstrated in both MDD group and HC group. MDD patients showed significantly higher global efficiency (0.129[0.124, 0.132] vs. 0.131[0.128, 0.133]), significantly lower clustering coefficient and characteristic path length (0.143[0.139, 0.146] vs. 0.139[0.135, 0.144]; 0.457[0.446, 0.734] vs. 0.451[0.440, 0.463]), and significantly increased nodal centralities in the right inferior parietal lobule, bilateral caudate nucleus and bilateral thalamus of brain functional networks compared with HCs ( P<0.05, FDR-corrected). Compared with HCs, MDD patients exhibited obviously lower functional connectivity strength in the orbitofrontal-temporal and anterior cingulate-limbic-temporal circuits. Conclusion:Abnormal alterations of topological properties of the brain functional networks are found in adolescents with MDD, which may be the underlying neuropathologic basis for MDD.

RÉSUMÉ

Objective To investigate the change patterns of functional brain networks and their relations with cognitive function in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD).Methods Sixty-two patients with ESRD (ESRD group),admitted to our hospital from July 2018 to June 2019,and 36 age-,gender-,and education level-matched healthy controls (HC group) were enrolled.Mini-mental State Examination (MMSE),Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA),Trail Making Test A (TMT-A),TMT-B and Symbol Digit Modalities Test (SDMT) were used to evaluate the cognitive function for all subjects.Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging data were acquired;after data preprocessing, the brain functional networks were constructed and the topological parameters were calculated.Statistical methods were used to compare the differences of cognitive function scores and topological parameters between the two groups, and to analyze the correlations between these topological parameters and cognitive function scores in the ESRD group. Results The MMSE,MoCA and SDMT scores of the ESRD group were significantly lower than those of the HC group (P<0.05),and the ESRD group took significantly longer time to complete TMT-A and TMT-B than the HC group (P<0.05).The ESRD group had significantly lower normalized clustering coefficient (γ),small-worldness (σ) and local efficiency (Elocal) values than the HC group (P<0.05).Patients in the ESRD group exhibited significantly decreased nodal efficiency in the paralimbic-limbic network (including the bilateral insula, median cingulate and paracingulate gyri, hippocampus, parahippocampal gyrus, amygdala, temporal pole:superior temporal gyrus, and temporal pole:middle temporal gyrus),right heschl gyrus and left superior temporal gyrus, and exhibited significantly increased nodal efficiency in the visual network (including the right distal-shaped gyrus, bilateral wedge, and left superior and middle occipital gyrus) as compared with the HC group (P<0.05).In the ESRD group, the area under the curve (AUC) ofγ and σ was positively correlated with MoCA scores (r=0.698,P=0.000;r=0.661,P=0.000),and the AUC of Elocal showed positive correlation with MMSE scores (r=0.407,P=0.003).Conclusion Abnormal topological organization of the functional brain networks is revealed in patients with ESRD,which affects the cognitive function of these patients.

RÉSUMÉ

Objective To evaluate the abnormal alters of regional homogeneity (ReHo) in patients with end stage renal disease (ESRD) by resting functional-MR imaging (rs-fMRI),and explore its relation with cognitive impairment (CI).Methods A total of 52 patients with ESRD,admitted to our hospital from June 2017 to July 2018,and 36 age-and gender-matched healthy controls were enrolled. All subjects completed rs-fMRI.ReHo analysis method was used to analyze the synchronism of regional spontaneous activity between the two groups.Mini-mental state examination (MMSE),Montreal cognitive assessment (MoCA),digital symbol conversion test and trail marking test were employed to perform neuropsychological evaluations. The relation of ReHo value with neuropsychological evaluation results was analyzed. Results As compared with the healthy control group, the ESRD group exhibited significantly lower ReHo values of bilateral inferior orbital frontal gyrus, bilateral central anterior gyrus, left medial superior frontal gyrus, left medial temporal gyrus, right temporal gyrus, right cerebral island, and right lingual gyrus (P<0.05).No brain region with increased ReHo values was detected.Bivariate correlation analysis suggested that ReHo values were positively correlated with MoCA scores in right inferior orbital frontal gyrus (r=0.479,P=0.000),left medial superior frontal gyrus (r=0.433,P=0.000),and right cerebral island (r=0.292,P=0.035).Conclusion The decrease of ReHo value in the frontal lobe and insula lobe of ESRD patients is associated with CI.

RÉSUMÉ

Objective To investigate the inter-hemispheric resting-state functional connectivity and its relation with cognitive function in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) by using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) based on voxel-mirrored homotopic connectivity (VMHC). Methods A total of 52 patients with ESRD (ESRD group), admitted to our hospital from July 2018 to January 2019, were enrolled; 36 age-, gender-, and education level-matched healthy controls (HCs group) were collected at the same time period. The cognitive function of all subjects was assessed by Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), Trail Making Test (TMT)-A, TMT-B and Symbol Digit Modalities Test (SDMT). The rs-fMRI and 3D-T1WI data were acquired from all subjects; after image preprocessing, VMHC values between brain hemispheres were calculated and the regions with significantly different VMHC values were obtained. The correlations between VMHC values in significant regions and cognitive scale scores were analyzed. Results MMSE, MoCA and SDMT scores of ESRD patients were significantly lower than those of the HCs group (P<0.05), and ESRD patients took longer time to complete TMT-A and TMT-B tests than the HCs group (P<0.05). As compared with that of the HCs group, significant decrease of VMHC values of ESRD patients was found in the hippocampus, lingual gyrus, superior temporal gyrus, caudate nucleus and anterior cingulate gyrus (P<0.01, AlphaSim correction); the VMHC values of the anterior cingulate gyrus and hippocampus were positively correlated with MMSE and MoCA scores (P<0. 05). Conclusion Significant abnormal inter-hemisphere functional connectivity is found in patients with ESRD, which is associated with cognitive function.

RÉSUMÉ

Objective To explore the CT features of pulmonary lymphangiomyomatosis (PLAM).Methods Clinical and high resolution CT (HRCT)data of 14 patients with pathologically proved PLAM were analyzed retrospectively. The clinical and CT features were summarized by combining the literatures. Results All 14 cases were female. They all presented with dyspnea in different degree after the activity. Scattered or widely distributed translucent and cystic lesions with indistinct walls in bilateral lungs were seen on routine CT images. HRCT showed homogeneous clear thin-walled cysts with diameter ranging from several millimeters to 25 mm,wall thickness of 1-2 mm,and surrounded by normal lung tissue.Meanwhile, blood vessels were found around the cysts, and there were no central lobular cores. The cysts were different sizes and irregular distribution.6 patients had extra-pulmonary CT manifestations:1 case with intracranial multiple sclerosis, hepatic and renal angiomyolipomas, and hepatic multiple hemangiomas,3 cases with mediastinal, hepatic and renal angiomyolipomas, and 2 cases with retroperitonea lymphangioleiomyomatosis. Conclusion The CT of PLAM is characterized by the diffuse distribution of thin-walled cystic cavities and the wall thickness is generally uniform. The typical manifestations of HRCT combined with clinical data have great values in the early diagnosis and differential diagnosis.

RÉSUMÉ

Objective To study the value of echoeardiography for diagnosis of juxtaposition of atrial appendage(JAA) and to discuss its features. Methods Eehocardiographic characteristics of JAA in nine cases were compared with results of cardiac catheterization and operation. The diagnostic features of echocardiography were summarized. Results Seven cases had juxtaposition of left atrial appendage and two had juxtaposition of right atrial appendage. The nine cases were all associated with severe congenital heart disease and the most frequent malformations observed with JAA were double outlet right ventricle, transposition of great artery, single ventricle and so on. Direct visualization of the JAA in the parasternal short-axis view at the base of the heart and visualization of an unusual transverse orientation of the atrial septum were the most features of JAA. Echocardiographie characteristics of JAA cases were correspondent to the results of cardiac catheterization and operation. Conclusions There is high accuracy by echocardiography to diagnosis JAA. JAA should be alerted in severe congenital heart disease.
