Introduction: Although prevalent, the epidemiology of burns has gaps. At the same time, Covid-19 established a new scenario with new human behaviors, which could equally impact the characteristics and incidence of burns. The overall objective of the project was to describe the epidemiological profile of patients in a Burn Treatment Unit. Methods: The study was a chart review from January 2018 to May 2022, including a sample of 1164 admissions from Hospital Padre Albino (Catanduva, São Paulo, Brazil). Statistical analysis was performed using Google Sheets and JAMOVI, and Mann-Whitney U-test was applied for comparison of time periods before and during the pandemic. Before data collection, the study was submitted and approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the institution (document number 5.616.556, CAAE: 62621822.50000.5430). Results: The admissions presented a mean age of 31.38 years and 17.88% of body surface area burned, 452 women and 712 men, the mean age was 17 for women and 18.6 for men. The main agent was scalding. When it comes to period comparison, during the pandemic direct flaming had an 8% increase over the previous period (35%). The scalds still remained with high prevalence, however it presented a decrease of 2%, as well as the burns by dermabrasion, which had a decrease of 10%. Conclusion: The findings of the studies have limits in terms of generalization, and new studies need to be developed. The changes observed in the period were not significant and without clinical relevance.

RÉSUMÉ

To evaluate the nutritional profile of cancer patients treated at an oncology center in South Brazil. This is a descriptive, exploratory and sectional study that was developed in a process that involved 100 patients aged between 18 and 75 years old, suffering from cancer. The anthropometric variables studied were weight, height, Body Mass Index (BMI), arm circumference (AC), arm muscle circumference (AMC),triceps skinfold (TSF) and corrected arm muscle area (cAMA). For subjective nutritional assessment, we used the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA). Nearly half of the patients evaluated had a critical need for nutritional intervention. There was a statistically significant association between cAMA and marital status, age and gender; between AC and age, gender and staging; between AMC and staging; between BMI and marital status and age; and between TSF and marital status. Patients diagnosed with IV stage had the lowest values for nutritional variables. There was no significant association between nutritional status of patients obtained by the PG-SGA instrument and sociodemographic characteristics. Malnutrition should be diagnosed as soon as possible, aiming at early intervention and improving survival and quality of life. Therefore, early nutritional assessment in cancer patients is required, combining subjective and objective methods.

The bladder's mucosa, in the presence of aggressive agents, undergoes initially benign changes, but with chronicity may undergo potentially metaplastic modifications. Glandular cystitis presents nonspecific symptoms and biopsy is necessary for diagnosis and histological differentiation, subdividing it into classic and intestinal subtypes. After analyzing a medical record belonging to the Santa Rita Hospital from Maringá, the objective of this study is to report the case of a 32-year-old male patient with dysuria and pain in the hypogastric region, presenting on ultrasonography cystic lesion of 3.8 cm of diameter in the bladder. After removal of the lesion by transurethral resection, the histopathological analysis revealed the presence of Von Brunn nests, areas of mucosecretory epithelium and extracellular mucin in the bladder's mucosa, suggesting the existence of a glandular lesion with intestinal metaplasia. It was performed an immunohistochemical study for differential diagnosis of well-differentiated mucosecretory adenocarcinoma. Glandular cystitis, when manifest-ed macroscopically, resembles a neoplasm, since it can present an irregular aspect, diffuse and sometimes ulcerous. The diagnosis and treatment can be simultaneous, but in severe cases, the therapeutic options are restricted. Differential diagnosis is extremely important to rule out the possibility of bladder adenocarcinoma, therefore it is essential to follow up patients after treatment with specific tests periodically. The use of immunohistochemical markers has become rele-vant for the correct diagnosis, since genes related to the cell cycle, such as caudal type homeobox transcription factor 2 (CDX2), may represent a link between the onset of metaplasia and its possible progression to adenocarcinoma (AU)
