Blueberries are rich in phenolic compounds including anthocyanins which are closely related to biological health functions. The purpose of this study was to investigate the antioxidant activity of blueberry anthocyanins extracted from 'Brightwell' rabbiteye blueberries in mice. After one week of adaptation, C57BL/6J healthy male mice were divided into different groups that were administered with 100, 400, or 800 mg/kg blueberry anthocyanin extract (BAE), and sacrificed at different time points (0.1, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8, or 12 h). The plasma, eyeball, intestine, liver, and adipose tissues were collected to compare their antioxidant activity, including total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and glutathione-peroxidase (GSH-PX/GPX) content, and the oxidative stress marker malondialdehyde (MDA) level. The results showed that blueberry anthocyanins had positive concentration-dependent antioxidant activity in vivo. The greater the concentration of BAE, the higher the T-AOC value, but the lower the MDA level. The enzyme activity of SOD, the content of GSH-PX, and messenger RNA (mRNA) levels of Cu,Zn-SOD, Mn-SOD, and GPX all confirmed that BAE played an antioxidant role after digestion in mice by improving their antioxidant defense. The in vivo antioxidant activity of BAE indicated that blueberry anthocyanins could be developed into functional foods or nutraceuticals with the aim of preventing or treating oxidative stress-related diseases.

At present, total hip arthroplasty (THA) is the primary treatment for hip diseases such as femoral head necrosis and developmental dysplasia of the hip.It has good effects in reducing pain and improving joint function. The appearance of modular hip prosthesis facilitates adjustment of limb length and femoral offset. However, the wear between the interface of hip prosthesis can lead to inflammatory pseudotumor, osteolysis and other adverse reactions. To explore the risk factors of wear between hip prosthesis interface is helpful to improve the design and manufacturing concept of the product, improve the product performance, help surgeons optimize the operation technology and reduce the impact of human factors on the wear of the prosthesis. Many literatures have reported the mechanism of wear between the head-acetabula interface of prosthesis. The mechanism of wear between the interfaces has been described relatively clearly. In addition to the head-acetabula interface, the wear between the head-neck interface is another major cause of unexplained pain around the joint and prosthesis loosening after hip replacement. Many factors affect head-neck wear. The design of prosthesis (such as prosthesis material and prosthesis taper),surgical technology (such as impact strength and prosthesis mismatch) and patient factors (such as age, gender and activity) have important impact on head-neck wear.Adverse reactions caused by head-neck wear have also been widely concerned. However, there is no considerable solution for wear prevention. Thus,we should optimize the design of prosthesis, improve the surgical technology, and guide the rehabilitation of patients to prevent wear.In order to improve the attention of joint surgeons, the present paper reviews the literatures and analyzes the risk factors of head-neck interface wear and the clinical manifestations caused by head-neck wear.

Objective:To explore the mechanism of promotion effect of juglone combined with cisplatin on the apoptosis of human cervical cancer HeLa cells, and to clarify the effects of its associated signal transduction pathways. Methods:The HeLa cells at logarithmic growth phase were divided into control group, juglone group, cisplatin group and juglone combined with cisplatin group (combined treatment group). The inhibitory rates of proliferation of HeLa cells were detected by MTT assay. The apoptosis was detected by Hoechst 33258 staining. The expressions of Bcl-2, Bax and caspase-3, AKt, and pAKt were detected by Western blotting method. Results:The MTT results showed that the HeLa cell proliferation at 24,48 72 h in each drug group was inhibited;compared with control group, the profileration of HeLa cells in juglone group and cisplatin group was significantly inhibited, especially in combined group. Compared with single drug group, the inhibitory effect in combined treatment group was more significantly. After treatment for 12 h,the typical morphological changes of apoptosis were found in juglone group and cisplatin group by Hoechst 33258 staining, especially in combined treatment group. The Western blotting results showed that the expression levels of Bcl-2 and pAKt in HeLa cells in juglone group and cisplatin group 12 h after treatment were decreased obviously, whereas the expression levels of Bax,Caspase-3,and AKt were increased significantly, especially in combined treatment group compared with control group. Conclusion:Juglone combined with cisplatin could inhibit the PI3K/AKt pathway, thereby promoting the apoptpsis of HeLa cells.

OBJECTIVE To explore the pro-apoptotic mechanism of juglone in SiHa cells and to in?vestigate its associated signal transduction pathways. METHODS SiHa cells were treated with juglone 20μmol·L-1 for 24,48 and 72 h. Cellular morphology was detected by inverted microscopy. The cell viability was detected by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) assay. After 24 h treatment with juglone 20μmol·L-1,the cell apoptosis was detected by flow cytometry while the expressions of apopto?sis-related protein BCL-2,BAX and cleave-caspase-3,PI3K/AKt pathway-related protein PTEN,AKT and pAKT were detected by Western blotting. RESULTS After treatment with juglone for 24, 48 and 72 h,the growth of SiHa cells was significantly inhibited. Compared with cell control group, cells in juglone treated gruop were sparse, slipped off the wall, became round and the cell proliferation inhibitory rate was 43.3%,63.0%and 73.1%(P<0.05,P<0.01),respectively. Twenty-four hours post treatment, the early apoptosis rate of juglone treated gruop cells was increased by(6.47±1.79)%(P<0.01)compared with cell control group. Western blotting results showed that the expression of BCL-2 decreased by 53.0%while the expression of BAX and caspase-3 increased by 85.5%and 183.3%,respectively. The expression of PTEN was increased by 75.0% but the pAKt was decreased by 45.8%(P<0.01). CONCLUSION Juglone can upregulate the expression of PTEN, thus inhibiting PI3K/AKt pathway and promoting apoptosis of SiHa cells.

To analyze six cases concerning clinical features, the treatment process and curative effect of Rhinolith. The six patients had unilateral nasal obstruction, three of them were accompanied with purulent nasal discharge, two had blood with them, one patient had repeated hemorrhage of nasal cavity and two patients had developed headache. By using endoscopic, four irregular stones which are yellow, gray and brown were found in the middle and back end. Because of the severe nasal septum deviation and inferior turbinate polypoid, the stone could not be seen clearly but could be touched by aspirator. In sinus CT examination of 6 cases, it showed incomplete irregular shapes and had high density unilateral nasal cavity in the posterior segment. 4 patients had nasal deviation, 3 patients had ipsilateral sinusitis. 4 patients removed their stone by using endoscopy, 2 patients took the stone away after correction of nasal septum. Pathologic diagnosis: rhinolith. Two patients also had exogenous foreign matters which were considered as pseudo nasal stones.
