Objetivo: Identificar as variáveis associadas ao absenteísmo por covid-19 avaliando a Qualidade de Vida no Trabalho dos profissionais de enfermagem da Unidade de Terapia Intensiva de um hospital público. Métodos: Estudo de abordagem quantitativa, observacional e retrospectivo, realizada na Unidade de Terapia Intensiva de um hospital público estadual em Manaus, aplicado dois questionários para a coleta de dados. Resultados: O absenteísmo teve influência das seguintes variáveis: técnicos de enfermagem (100%); dois vínculos empregatícios (64%); especialização nível médio ou pós-técnico (50%); renda até dois salários-mínimos (73,9%). Conclusão: Este estudo visa contribuir para o avanço do conhecimento científico por meio das relações entre o absenteísmo e a Covid-19 e, através do índice de Qualidade de Vida busca ajudar na criação de melhorias para a classe da enfermagem e de aspectos organizacionais. Background: The professional courses as undergraduate medical education need high theoretical and clinical classes attendance as those students will be future doctors and will deal with the health and disease of the public. In spite of implementing strict policies regarding student attendance, the rate of absenteeism in medical colleges remains high and is a growing apprehension a phenomenon that is also on the rise in universities worldwide. Methods: A cross-sectional study in few Governments Medical Colleges of Western region of Maharashtra using a self-administered questionnaire. Data was collected and analysed through Google forms. Results: Preparatory leave before every examination required (50.7%), air-conditioned classrooms (49.7%), good ventilated classrooms (44.1%), interactive teachers (41.8%), decrease lecture duration (38%), more practical less theory classes (37.6%) and good transportation facilities (34.3%) were various major suggestions given by students to increase the overall attendance. Conclusions: Feedback from students must be repeatedly considered while designing and revising the curriculum to reduce absenteeism.

Hidden absenteeism refers to the behavior of employees who insist on going to work even when they are in poor health,but its work efficiency is low and affects the productivity.This paper reviews and sorts out the related researches on hidden absenteeism of nurses in China,expounds the definition of the con-cept of hidden absenteeism,evaluation tools,current situation and influencing factors of hidden absenteeism of nurses in China,and puts forward the suggestions on the countermeasures of hidden absenteeism,in order to provide reference for nursing managers in China on the management of hidden absenteeism.

Objective@#To explore the performance of machine learning prediction models in forecasting student absenteeism due to respiratory symptoms caused by air pollution in short term, aiming to provide a methodological reference for early warning systems of school diseases.@*Methods@#Utilizing data from shortterm sequences of student absenteeism due to respiratory symptoms in Jiangsu Province from September 2019 to October 2022, the study integrated average concentrations of atmospheric pollutants. A univariate distributed lag nonlinear model was employed to select optimal lag variables for the pollutants. An extreme gradient boosting(XGBoost) algorithm model was developed to predict the frequency of absenteeism due to respiratory symptoms and compared with the seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average with exogenous factors(SARIMAX) model.@*Results@#Between 2019 and 2022, an average of 9 709 students per day in Jiangsu Province were absent due to respiratory symptoms. The daily average air quality index (AQI) was 76.96,with mass concentrations of PM2.5, PM10, NO2, and O3 averaging at 35.75, 61.13, 28.89, 104.81 μg/m3, respectively. Granger causality tests indicated that AQI, PM2.5, PM10, NO2, and O3 were significant predictors of absenteeism frequency due to respirutory symptoms(F=1.46,1.79,1.67,3.41,2.18,P<0.01). The singleday lag effects of PM2.5, PM10, NO2, and O3 reached their peak relative risk (RR) values at lag4, lag0, lag0, lag4 respectively. When integrating these optimal lag variables for the pollutants, the XGBoost model demonstrated superior predictive performance to the SARIMAX model, reducing the mean absolute error (MAE) from 2.251 to 0.475, mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) from 0.429 to 0.080, and root mean square error (RMSE) from 2.582 to 0.713; at the P75 percentile alert threshold, the sensitivity improved from 0.086 to 0.694 and specificity from 0.979 to 0.988, with the Youden index increasing from 0.065 to 0.682.@*Conclusions@#The XGBoost model exhibits robust predictive performance and effective early warning capabilities for shortterm sequences of student absenteeism due to respiratory symptoms caused by air pollution. Schools could timely adopt this model to preemptively detect and control disease outbreaks, thereby enhancing school health management.

Aim: The study aimed to evaluate the association between oral health and academic performance and/or school absenteeism. Methods: Electronic searches were performed of the PubMed, Web of Science, SCOPUS and LILACS/BVS databases. We included observational studies that evaluated the association between dental caries, tooth loss, dental pain or oral health status with school absenteeism or academic performance. The studies had to contain a representative sample of the population: schoolchildren, children or adolescents. After the removal of duplicates, the electronic searches produced 3,789 articles. Of these, 25 studies were included in the systematic review and 13 in the meta-analysis. Results: Considering all the studies evaluated in the meta-analysis, seven articles satisfied 100% of the Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal checklist, and six contained between 90% and 75% positive answers. The pooled effects showed that the chances of school absenteeism were 31% higher in subjects with dental caries (OR 1.31; 95%CI 1.12-1.54). Students with fair/poor dental health had a 50% higher chance of suffering poor academic performance (OR 1.50; 95%CI 1.22-1.84) and 34% higher chance of having problems at school (OR 1.34; 95%CI 1.06-1.70). Students with a history of toothache had a 3.7 higher chance of being absent from school (OR 6.65; 95%CI 1.60-8.32) and 71% higher chance of missing class due to toothache (OR 1.71; 95%CI 1.15-2.56). Subjects with a history of toothache had a 2.5 times higher chance of suffering poor academic performance (OR 2.58; 95% CI 2.04-3.27). Conclusion: Therefore, students with oral problems were more likely to take time off school and present inferior academic performance

Os sintomas persistentes da síndrome pós-COVID-19 acarretam impactos negativos na saúde, qualidade de vida e produtividade. O objetivo deste trabalho foi descrever os sintomas persistentes da síndrome pós-COVID-19, principalmente neurológicos, e as repercussões cognitivas, emocionais, motoras, de qualidade de vida e de custos indiretos, 12 meses após a infecção. Pacientes com primeiros sintomas entre janeiro e junho de 2021 evoluíram com síndrome pós-COVID-19 e procuraram atendimento na unidade da Rede SARAH de Hospitais de Reabilitação em Fortaleza, Ceará, Brasil. As informações foram obtidas no início do acompanhamento e por entrevista telefônica após 12 meses da infecção. Participaram do estudo 58 pessoas, com idade média de 52,8 anos (±10,5) e 60% permaneceram em UTI. Os sintomas mais frequentes na admissão foram: fadiga (64%), artralgia (51%) e dispneia (47%); e após 12 meses: fadiga (46%) e alteração de memória (39%). Foram identificadas alterações nas escalas/testes funcionais: PCFS, MoCA, HAD, FSS, SF-36, TLS5x, Timed up and go, caminhada de 6 minutos e preensão manual. Os custos indiretos totais foram de USD 227.821,00, com 11.653 dias de absenteísmo; 32% dos pacientes não voltaram a trabalhar. Melhores resultados de TLS5x e SF-36, nas dimensões capacidade funcional, aspecto físico, vitalidade e dor, demonstraram associação com retorno laboral (p ≤ 0,05). Os sintomas persistentes mais frequentes foram: fadiga, artralgia, dispneia, ansiedade e depressão, com repercussões negativas na funcionalidade cognitiva, emocional, motora e qualidade de vida. The persistent symptoms of post-COVID-19 syndrome negatively impact health, quality of life, and productivity. This study aimed to describe the persistent symptoms of post-COVID-19 syndrome (especially neurological ones) and their 12-month post-infection cognitive, emotional, motor, quality of life, and indirect cost repercussions. Patients showing the first symptoms of COVID-19 from January to June 2021 who developed post-COVID-19 syndrome and sought care at the Fortaleza Unit (Ceará, Brazil) of the SARAH Network of Rehabilitation Hospitals were included in this study. Information was obtained at the baseline follow-up and by telephone interview 12 months post-infection. In total, 58 people participated in this study with an average age of 52.8±10.5 years, of which 60% required an ICU. The most frequent symptoms on admission included fatigue (64%), arthralgia (51%), and dyspnea (47%), whereas, after 12 months, fatigue (46%) and memory impairment (39%). The following scales/functional tests showed alterations: PCFS, MoCA, HAD, FSS, SF-36, TLS5x, timed up and go, 6-minute walk, and handgrip. Indirect costs totaled USD 227,821.00, with 11,653 days of absenteeism. Moreover, 32% of patients were unable to return to work. Better TLS5x and higher SF-36 scores in the functional capacity, physical functioning, vitality, and pain dimensions were associated with return to work (p ≤ 0.05). The most frequent persistent symptoms referred to fatigue, arthralgia, dyspnea, anxiety, and depression, which negatively affected cognitive, emotional, and motor function and quality of life. These symptoms lasted for over a year, especially fatigue and memory alteration, the latter of which being the most reported after COVID-19 infections. Results also show a significant difficulty returning to work and indirect costs of USD 4,847.25 per person/year.

Com a pandemia da COVID-19, uma grande quantidade dos profissionais da saúde adoeceu e se afastou do trabalho. Este estudo objetivou estimar o custo desses afastamentos em um hospital público brasileiro e ajudou a identificar as falhas nos processos de trabalho que levaram ao absenteísmo. É uma avaliação econômica parcial, descritiva, retrospectiva, quantitativa, com dados coletados de prontuários médicos, sobre os custos diretos dos afastamentos. A amostra foi de 793 servidores e 2.166 registros de atestados médicos, de março a dezembro de 2020. Observou-se que: o custo total dos afastamentos foi de R$ 2.603.017,95. As doenças virais representaram o maior custo, seguidas dos problemas relacionados à saúde mental. Os técnicos de enfermagem foram os profissionais que causaram o maior impacto nos afastamentos (27,21%). Portanto, a pesquisa gerou indicadores importantes para nortear os gestores na alocação de recursos e na tomada de decisões durante a pandemia da COVID-19.
With the COVID-19 pandemic, a large number of healthcare professionals became ill and were away from work. This study aimed to estimate the cost of these absences in a Brazilian public hospital and helped to identify the flaws in work processes that led to absenteeism. It is a partial, descriptive, retrospective, quantitative economic evaluation, with data collected from medical records, on the direct costs of sick leave. The sample consisted of 793 employees and 2.166 medical certificate records, from March to December 2020. It was observed that: the total cost of leaves was R$ 2.603.017,95. Viral diseases represented the highest cost, followed by problems related to mental health. Nursing technicians were the professionals who caused the greatest impact on sick leave (27.21%). Therefore, the research generated important indicators to guide managers in resource allocation and decision-making during the COVID-19 pandemic.

O ritmo elevado de trabalho, somado às demandas físicas e psicológicas, levam ao estresse nos contextos pessoal e laboral, o que faz com que as pessoas se afastem de seus ambientes de trabalho como um dos motivos apontados para a incapacidade para o trabalho. Essa realidade tem sido amplamente observada no ambiente hospitalar, possivelmente associada a problemas relacionados à fadiga da compaixão, geralmente em serviços de oncologia. Dessa forma, a motivação deste estudo foi compreender os motivos do absenteísmo em oncologia, e se esse episódio ocorre devido ao processo de trabalho. Objetivo:Investigar as causas do absenteísmo entre profissionais expostos a riscos ambientais e biopsicossociais em hospitais oncológicos. Metodologia:Trata-se de uma revisaointegrativa sobre o tema do absenteísmo, o que indica novos rumos para futuras investigações. Foi realizada uma revisão da literatura com base em três pilares: 1) O processo de trabalho multidisciplinar em oncologia e o risco de adoecimento; 2) O absentismo dos profissionais de saúde em oncologia; 3) O problema da pandemia de COVID-19 para os trabalhadores da saúde. Posteriormente, foram escolhidos os descritores e a partir deles foram realizadas buscas nas bases de dados eletrônicas PUBMED, LILACS e SCOPUS. Resultados:Obteve-se um resultado de dez estudos. Constatou-se que os principais transtornos, que levam à incapacidade para o trabalho e, por sua vez, ao absenteísmo, foram de origem psíquica (depressão e Síndrome de Burnout) e de origem musculoesquelética. Conclusões:A dupla jornada de trabalho foi citada como fator facilitador para o aparecimento desses transtornos, onde tais cenários não incapacitam o trabalhador para o desenvolvimento de suas atividades, que podem ser temporárias ou permanentes (AU).
The high pace of work, added to the physical and psychological demands, lead to stress in personal and work contexts, which causes people to withdraw from their work environments as one of the reasons mentioned for incapacitation for work. This reality hasbeen widely observed in the hospital setting, possibly associated with problems related to compassion fatigue, usually in oncology services. The motivation of this study was to understand the reasons for absenteeism in oncology, and if this episode occursdue to the work process. Objective:Investigating the causes of absenteeism among professionals exposed to environmental and biopsychosocial risks in cancer hospitals. Methodology:This is a integrative review on the theme of absenteeism, which indicates new directions for future investigations. A literature review was carried out based on three pillars: 1) The multidisciplinary work process in oncology and the risk of illness; 2) The absenteeism of health professionals in oncology; 3) The problem of the COVID-19 pandemic for health workers. Subsequently, the descriptors were chosen and based on them, searches were carried out in the electronic databases PUBMED, LILACS and SCOPUS. Results:A result of ten studies was obtained. It was found that the main disorders, which lead to incapacity for work and, in turn, absenteeism, were of psychic origin (depression and Burnout Syndrome) and of musculoskeletal origin. El alto ritmo de trabajo, sumado a las exigencias físicas y psicológicas, genera estrés en el contexto personal y laboral, lo que provoca que las personas se alejen de sus ambientes laborales como una de las razones esgrimidas para la incapacidad detrabajar. Esta realidad ha sido ampliamente observada en el ambiente hospitalario, posiblemente asociada a problemas relacionados con la fatiga por compasión, generalmente en los servicios de oncología. Así, la motivación de este estudio fue comprender las razones del ausentismo en oncología y si este episodio ocurre debido al proceso de trabajo. Objetivo:Investigar las causas del ausentismo entre profesionales expuestos a riesgos ambientales y biopsicosociales en hospitales oncológicos. Metodología:Se trata deuna revisión integradorasobre el tema del ausentismo, que indica nuevos rumbos para futuras investigaciones. Se realizó una revisión de la literatura basada en tres pilares: 1) El proceso de trabajo multidisciplinario en oncología y el riesgo de enfermedad; 2) El ausentismo de los profesionales de la salud en oncología; 3) El problema de la pandemia de COVID-19 para los trabajadores de la salud. Posteriormente se eligieron los descriptores y a partir de ellos se realizaron búsquedas en las bases de datos electrónicas PUBMED, LILACS y SCOPUS. Resultados:Se obtuvo un resultado de diez estudios. Se encontró que los principales trastornos que conducen a la incapacidad para trabajar y, a su vez, al ausentismo, fueron de origen psíquico (depresión y síndrome deBurnout) y de origen músculoesquelético. Background: Menstruation is a taboo subject among adolescents girl; lack of knowledge regarding the menstruation, menstrual hygiene, and menstrual abnormalities has significant negative influence on young women. Most of the time menstrual abnormalities were not reported timely resulting in their late diagnosis as well as intervention, burdening adolescents and young adult women physically and mentally. Aims and Objectives: This study aimed to identify the menstrual patterns, abnormalities, effects of these abnormalities on the student population in form of social withdrawal, sickness absenteeism, and degrading academic performances. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study on menstrual abnormalities among 187 undergraduate students of Medical College Kolkata was conducted to illuminate menstrual problems and its effects on their regular activities. By systematic random sampling technique participants were selected. Questions were related to menstruation, variations in menstrual patterns, dysmenorrhea and its severity, premenstrual symptom, family and medical history in relation to menstrual abnormalities, social withdrawal, monthly sickness absenteeism and degrading of academic performances. Results: The mean age of subjects at menarche was 13.19 ± 0.931 years. Of all the abnormalities, dysmenorrhea was the highest with 84% of prevalence, followed by pre-menstrual symptom with prevalence of 68.4%. Social withdrawal (17.8%), college absenteeism (5.7%), and degrading of academic performance (8.2%) were reported among the students. Conclusion: Menstrual abnormalities must be promptly diagnosed and treated, and students must get counseling addressing these issues if they are to improve their health and quality of life and reduce their chances of developing further illnesses.

Introduction: Menstrual-related problems are one of the most common problems among adolescent girls and might adversely affect their performance in academic and other activities of daily life. Aims & Objectives: 1. To determine the prevalence of school absenteeism among adolescent school girls during menstruation. 2. To assess the restrictions which are imposed on adolescent school girls during menstruation. 3. To evaluate the various factors associated with school absenteeism during menstruation. Methods: A study was conducted by carrying out a questionnaire and focus group discussion between October 2019-January 2020 in seven schools of Bangalore city after obtaining the assent and informed consent signed by their parents. Result: The mean age of the girls was 14.45 ± 1.71. The proportion of school absenteeism during menstruation was (30.25%). The majority (89.25%) of the students among the school absentees missed one day of school during menstruation. Among the school absentees, pain/discomfort was one of the main reasons for missing school, accounting for (69.42%). (46.25%) of the students were restricted from any kind of religious activities. Pain during menstruation, shame, fear of leakage, lack of toilet or water supply, lack of a place to dispose of sanitary pads and absence of a private place to manage periods were some factors that were associated with school absenteeism during menstruation. Conclusion: Considerably high school absenteeism among adolescent girls due to menstruation was noted in this study, highlighting the need for improved interventions that reach girls at a young age.

Objetivo: Analisar variáveis relacionadas ao agendamento de consultas ambulatoriais que não se realizaram pela ausência dos pacientes. Métodos: Estudo transversal produzido em hospital público terciário de referência para o Sistema Único de Saúde. Foram sorteados aleatoriamente 493 pacientes, e a amostra final totalizou 317 pacientes que faltaram a consultas médicas. Variáveis investigadas: recebimento de mensagens via celular informando a data da consulta, intervalo entre a data do agendamento e da consulta e a realização de reagendamento. Os dados foram oriundos de relatórios informatizados de faltosos a consultas agendadas e entrevistas telefônicas. Análises estatísticas realizadas no programa SAS® for Windows, versão 9.3. Resultados: 49.8% dos pacientes informaram não terem recebido mensagem lembrando sobre a data da consulta. O tempo entre o agendamento e a data da consulta ficou entre 180 e 365 dias para 36,6% dos pacientes. Reagendaram a consulta 24,6% dos pacientes. Conclusão: É necessário ampliar procedimentos para prevenção de faltas às consultas, independentemente do tempo entre o agendamento e a consulta. (AU)
Objective: To analyze variables related to the scheduling of outpatient appointments that did not take place due to patient no-show. Methods: Cross-sectional study conducted in a tertiary public referral hospital providing services to the Brazilian Unified Health System. A total of 493 patients were randomly selected, and the final sample totaled 317 no-show patients. Variables investigated: receipt of messages via cell phones informing the appointment date, interval between the scheduling date and the appointment date, and rescheduling. Data were obtained from computerized reports regarding absenteeism from scheduled appointments and telephone interviews. Statistical analyses were performed using the SAS® for Windows software, version 9.3. Results: 49.8% of patients reported not having received a message reminding them of the appointment dates. The interval between scheduling and the appointment dates was from 180 to 365 days for 36.6% of patients. A total of 24.6% of patients rescheduled their appointments. Conclusion: It is necessary to expand procedures to prevent missed appointments regardless of the time between scheduling and the appointment. (AU)

Se seleccionó aleatoriamente a 493 pacientes y la muestra final fue de 317 pacientes que faltaron a las citas médicas. Variables investigadas: recepción de mensajes vía celular informando la fecha de la cita, intervalo entre la cita y la fecha de la cita y reprogramación. Los datos provienen de informes computarizados de ausencias n citas programadas y entrevistas telefónicas. Análisis estadísticos realizados en SAS® para Windows versión 9.3. Resultados: En el 49.8% de los pacientes informaron no haber recibido un mensaje recordando la fecha de la cita. Conclusión: Es necesario ampliar los procedimientos para evitar citas perdidas independientemente del tiempo entre citas y citas. (AU)

Introdução: As práticas ergonômicas de conscientização e de participação assumem importante papel na prevenção das doenças ocupacionais. Entretanto, os métodos utilizados pelos programas de prevenção das instituições e empresas visam a correção dos riscos ergonômicos, não observando o fator humano detentor da execução da tarefa. Objetivo: Analisar a utilização das Ergonomia de Conscientização e Participa- ção como programa de educação visando a prevenção primária e a conscientização dos riscos ergonômicos das lesões por esforço repetitivo (LER) e distúrbios osteomusculares relacionadas ao trabalho (DORT). Metodologia: Revisão crítica de literatura, sintetizando o embasamento teórico pertinente ao tema, com documentação técnica, normas, decretos, portarias e dados estatísticos atualizados de afastamento; formando, assim, à análise documental. Resultados e Discussão: Os dados estatísticos mostram a importância de uma mudança nos hábitos, nos programas e nas intervenções ergonômicas no ambiente laboral do trabalhador, visando minimizar os impactos socioeconômicos dos altos índices de afastamento para organizações, empresas privadas e, principalmente, serviços públicos de ensino superior devido a maior precariedade dos ambientes de trabalho. Práticas ergo- nômicas de conscientização e participação dos trabalhadores podem proporcionar uma melhora nos desconfortos do ambiente laboral. Ressalta-se a escassez de pesquisas que priorizem a relação custo-benefício e a eficácia a longo prazo na área de Ergonomia. Conclusões: Novas análises devem ser observadas para promover melhora da qualidade de vida do trabalhador, diminuição das perdas econômicas, contribuindo para um trabalho seguro, decente e sustentável como preconiza principalmente o Objetivo 8 da Agenda 2030 da Organização das Nações Unidas.
Introduction: Ergonomic awareness and participation practices play an im- portant role in the prevention of occupational diseases. However, the methods used by institutions and companies' prevention programs aim to correct ergonomic risks and do not observe the human factor responsible for carrying out the task. Purpose: To analyze the use of Participation and Awareness Ergonomics as an education program aimed at raising awareness of ergonomic risks for the prevention of repetitive strain injuries (RSI) and work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMD). Methodology: Critical literature review, summarizing the theoretical basis relevant to the topic, with technical documen- tation, norms, decrees, ordinances, and updated statistical data on leave; thus forming the documental analysis. Results and discussion: Statistical data show the importance of changing habits, programs, and ergonomic interventions in the work environment of the worker, in order to minimize the socioeconomic impacts of the high removal rates of organizations, private companies, and, mainly, public higher education due to more pre- carious work environments. Ergonomic practices of awareness and participation of work- ers can improve the work environment's discomfort. The lack of research that prioritizes the cost-benefit ratio and long-term effectiveness in Ergonomics is highlighted. Conclu- sions: New studies must promote a significant improvement of the quality of life of work- ers, reduction of economic losses and, thus contribute to a safe environment, decent and sustainable, as advocated by Objective 8 of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
Introducción: Las prácticas de sensibilización y participación ergonómicas desempeñan un papel importante en la prevención de las enfermedades profesionales. Sin embargo, los métodos utilizados por los programas de prevención de instituciones y em- presas tienen como objetivo corregir los riesgos ergonómicos y no observan el factor hu- mano responsable de la realización de la tarea. Propósito: Analizar el uso de la Ergonomía de Participación y Concienciación como programa educativo dirigido a la concienciación de los riesgos ergonómicos para la prevención de las lesiones por esfuerzos repetitivos (LER) y los trastornos musculoesqueléticos de origen laboral (TME). Metodología: Re- visión lit-eratura crítica, resumiendo la base teórica relevante al tema, con documentación técnica, normas, decretos, ordenanzas, y datos estadísticos actualizados sobre bajas la- borales; conformando así el análisis documental. Resultados y discusión: Los datos es- tadísticos demuestran la importancia del cambio de hábitos, programas e intervenciones ergonómicas en el ambiente de trabajo del trabajador, para minimizar los impactos soci- oeconómicos de los altos índices de desvinculación de organizaciones, empresas privadas y, principalmente, de la enseñanza superior pública, debido a la mayor precariedad de los ambientes de trabajo. Práticas ergonómicas de conscientização e par-ticipação dos tra- balhadores podem melhorar a incomodidade do ambiente de trabalho. Se destaca la falta de re-investigación que priorice la relación costo-beneficio y la eficacia a largo plazo en Ergonomía. Conclusiones: Nuevos estudios deben promover una mejora significativa de la calidad de vida de los trabajadores, la reducción de las pérdidas económicas y, así contribuir a un entorno seguro, digno y sostenible, como propugna el Objetivo 8 de la Agenda 2030 de las Na-ciones Unidas.

Objective@#To describe the sickness absenteeism among primary and secondary school students in Jiading District and to analyze its correlation with the incidence of infectious diseases and associated lead or lag times, so as,to provide a scientific basis for the health and education departments to take measures.@*Methods@#The regularity and symptom composition of school sickness absenteeism among primary and secondary school students in Jiading District from the 2010-2017 were described. The Joinpoint model was applied to analyze the changing trend of absenteeism. And the rate of school sickness absenteeism and incidences of 7 acute infectious diseases were compared through visual analysis. The time lagged correlation coefficients and Granger causality tests were applied to quantitatively analyze the correlation and lead/lag patterns.@*Results@#The average rate of school sickness absenteeism among primary and secondary school students in Jiading District, Shanghai was 0.27%. Since the 2012 academic year, the overall rate of sickness absenteeism has been on the rise. Fever was the most common symptom of absenteeism (47.49%). The trend of sickness absenteeism rate was mainly consistent with the incidence of influenza, and showed a one way Granger causality. The maximum time lagged correlation coefficient was obtained in the second semester of the 2017 academic year with a value of 0.43 (95% CI =0.25-0.58). The maximum time lagged correlation coefficient between the rate of sickness absenteeism with fever and other respiratory symptoms and the incidence of influenza was also obtained in the second semester of the 2017 academic year and the maximum correlation coefficient was 0.50(95% CI =0.33-0.65).@*Conclusion@#The sickness absenteeism rate in primary and secondary school students is correlated to influenza incidence, and it has potential application value in supplementing early warning of influenza activities in the community.

Background At present, domestic research on job burnout and health-related productivity is limited to medical workers, and the impact of job burnout on health-related productivity of enterprise staff deserves attention. Objective To explore the association between job burnout and health-related productivity loss among enterprise staff. Methods A cross-sectional online questionnaire survey was conducted among enterprise staff who were selected from seven enterprises in Minhang District of Shanghai. The Chinese version of Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey (MBI-GS) was used to assess job burnout, and a questionnaire based on and modified from the WHO Health and Work Performance Questionnaire was used to assess the loss of health-related productivity. Logistic regression was used to analyze the impact of job burnout on health-related productivity under the control of selected demographic characteristics, socio-economic factors, and occupational factors. Results A total of 3489 questionnaires were recovered, and 3156 valid questionnaires were included in the statistical analysis. Among the 3156 valid questionnaires, 2228 (70.8%) respondents were assessed as suffering from job burnout, in which 1858 (59.0%) were mild to moderate job burnout, and 370 (11.7%) were severe job burnout; the median score (interquartile range) of MBI-GS was 2.18(2.69), the median rates (interquartile range) of absenteeism and presenteeism were 0.00% (0.00%) and 20.00% (50.00%), respectively. The prevalence of presenteeism significantly varied by gender, education, marital status, working years, job category, exhaustion, cynicism, professional efficacy, and job burnout (P<0.05). The prevalence of absenteeism significantly varied by education, marital status, working years, job category, exhaustion, cynicism, professional efficacy, and job burnout (P<0.05). Job burnout was positively correlated with absenteeism (r=0.157) and presenteeism (r=0.412) (P<0.01). After controlling for selected demographic characteristics, social economic factors, and occupational factors, the logistic regression showed that job burnout was associated with health-related productivity loss, the OR value remained relatively stable, and referring to negative job burnout, the OR (95%CI) of severe job burnout was 6.35 (4.52-8.92). Conclusion Job burnout of enterprise staff has a negative impact on health-related productivity. Severer job burnout associates with higher health-related productivity loss. Enterprises should pay attention to the prevention and control of job burnout to reduce health-related productivity loss.

ObjectiveTo analyze the varicella cases from the illness-induced absenteeism system and the National Notifiable Disease and Reporting System (NNDRS) in primary and secondary school students in Minhang District, determine the characteristics of varicella-induced absenteeism in schools, and provide scientific evidence for the prevention and control of varicella in schools. MethodsSurveillance data of varicella-induced absenteeism and varicella cases in the NNDRS in 2021 were collected. Characteristics of varicella-induced absenteeism and consistency of data between the illness-induced absenteeism system and the NNDRS were determined, using descriptive analysis and matching varicella cases in the two systems. ResultsThe incidence of varicella in Minhang District was 48.28/105 in 2021. The overall rate of illness-induced absenteeism was 612.08/105 in primary and secondary schools, and the rate of varicella-induced absenteeism was 6.03/105. The distribution of varicella-induced absenteeism was consistent with the incidence of varicella cases. Furthermore, the rate of varicella-induced absenteeism was significantly higher in boys than in girls. The rate increased synchronously during the peak of varicella incidence. The rate differed significantly across the students in diverse schools (χ2=135.217,P<0.001), which was the highest in middle school students. However, there was no significant difference in the number of absent days between peak incidence and non-peak incidence periods of varicella (t=0.173, P=0.863). Moreover, actual matching proportion of varicella cases between illness-induced absenteeism system and the NNDRS was 88.90%. The varicella cases that had been notified and those had not been notified in the NNDRS did not differ significantly in the number of absent days (t=0.346, P=0.730). ConclusionThe incidence of varicella and varicella-induced absenteeism in schools is relatively low in Minhang District. Data between the illness-induced absenteeism system and the NNDRS is consistent. Routine prevention and control of varicella in schools is maintained a good level throughout the year.

O absenteísmo é caracterizado pelo distanciamento do funcionário ao trabalho, se tratando de um fenômeno complexo e multifatorial. Devido ao número de afastamentos atribuídos em 2018, o objetivo deste estudo foi verificar a associação entre nível de atividade física (NAF), comportamento sedentário (CS) e absenteísmo de professores da educação básica do município de Divinópolis-MG. A amostra foi composta por 84 docentes de ambos os sexos, com idade média de 45,12±8,88 anos. Realizou-se a identificação do absenteísmo através de questionário sociodemográfico e para NAF e CS utilizou-se o International Physical Activity Questionnarie (IPAQ) - versão curta. O valor de alfa foi estabelecido em 5%. A análise de relação, dada pelo Qui- Quadrado, demonstrou que o não absenteísmo no ano de 2019 está relacionado com exercer cargo efetivo (p=0,030), lecionar no Ensino Fundamental I (p=0,041) e ser fisicamente ativo (p=0,003). Pode-se observar pela correlação de Spearman que o absenteísmo está correlacionado ao NAF (rho=-0,321; p=0,003) e ao cargo exercido (rho= 0,237; p=0,030). A Regressão de Poisson indicou que docentes com cargo temporário apresentaram 74% menos chances de ocorrência de absenteísmo quando comparados àqueles que exerciam cargo efetivo (p<0,001; Exp. ß= 0,744; IC=0,655- 0,844) e que professores irregularmente ativos demonstraram 123% mais chances de ocorrência de afastamento comparados aos fisicamente ativos (p=0,004; Exp. ß= 1,234; IC=1,070-1,423). Conclui-se que docentes fisicamente ativos, que atuavam em cargos temporários no Ensino Fundamental I, comparados com professores do Ensino Infantil, possuíam menor probabilidade de absenteísmo, sugerindo que o NAF pode ser preditor do afastamento de professores da rede municipal.
Absenteeism is characterized by the distancing of the employee from work, being a complex and multifactorial phenomenon. Due to the number of absences attributed in 2018, the objective of this study was to verify the association between physical activity level (PAL), sedentary behavior (CS) and absenteeism of basic education teachers in the city of Divinópolis-MG. The sample consisted of 84 teachers of both genders, with a mean age of 45.12±8.88 years old. The identification of absenteeism was carried out through a sociodemographic questionnaire and for PAL and CS the International Physical Activity Questionnarie (IPAQ) - short version was used. The alpha value was set at 5%. The relationship analysis, given by the Chi-Square, showed that non- absenteeism in 2019 is related to holding an effective position (p=0.030), teaching in Elementary School I (p=0.041) and being physically active (p=0.003). It can be seen from Spearman's correlation that absenteeism is correlated with PAL (rho=-0.321; p=0.003) and position held (rho= 0.237; p=0.030). Poisson Regression indicated that professors with a temporary position were 74% less likely to have absenteeism when compared to those who held a permanent position (p<0.001; Exp. ß= 0.744; CI=0.655-0.844) and that irregularly active professors demonstrated 123% more chances of sick leave compared to physically active (p=0.004; Exp. ß= 1.234; CI=1.070-1.423). It is concluded that physically active teachers, who worked in temporary positions in Elementary School I, compared to teachers in Kindergarten, had a lower probability of absenteeism, suggesting that the PAL can be a predictor of the removal of teachers from the municipal network.
El ausentismo se caracteriza por el alejamiento del empleado del trabajo, siendo un fenómeno complejo y multifactorial. Debido al número de ausencias atribuidas en 2018, el objetivo de este estudio fue verificar la asociación entre el nivel de actividad física (NAC), el comportamiento sedentario (CS) y el ausentismo de los profesores de educación básica en la ciudad de Divinópolis-MG. La muestra fue constituida por 84 profesores de ambos sexos, con edad media de 45,12±8,88 años. La identificación del absentismo se realizó a través de un cuestionario sociodemográfico y para PAL y CS se utilizó el International Physical Activity Questionnarie (IPAQ) - versión corta. El valor alfa se fijó en el 5%. El análisis de relación, dado por el Chi-Cuadrado, mostró que el no ausentismo en 2019 está relacionado con ocupar un cargo efectivo (p=0,030), enseñar en la Escuela Primaria I (p=0,041) y ser físicamente activo (p=0,003). De la correlación de Spearman se desprende que el absentismo está correlacionado con el PAL (rho=-0,321; p=0,003) y el cargo desempeñado (rho= 0,237; p=0,030). La regresión de Poisson indicó que los profesores con un puesto temporal tenían un 74% menos de probabilidades de absentismo en comparación con los que ocupaban un puesto permanente (p<0,001; Exp. ß= 0,744; CI=0,655-0,844) y que los profesores irregularmente activos mostraban un 123% más de probabilidades de baja por enfermedad en comparación con los físicamente activos (p=0,004; Exp. ß= 1,234; CI=1,070-1,423). Nesta pesquisa, estudamos os custos de transporte por consulta ambulatorial em pacientes referenciados para avaliação cirúrgica especializada em um hospital terciário no Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo com responsáveis por pacientes pediátricos agendados para consulta de cirurgia pediátrica, questionando fatores ligados ao custo de transporte e de oportunidade (perda de remuneração, alimentação, pagamento de cuidadores para outros filhos, despesas para outros acompanhantes). Aproximadamente metade dos pacientes tinham até 5 anos de idade, cerca de 2/3 apresentavam doenças de resolutividade cirúrgica simples e definitiva e 181 famílias (89,17%) contavam com renda familiar mensal de até R$ 1.999,00. A proporção de famílias beneficiadas por transporte gratuito variou entre 4,26-15,56% para pacientes morando até 100km de distância do hospital (45,83% para pacientes com residência a mais de 100km da instituição). Dos responsáveis, 176 (87,13%) relataram despesas para alimentação, 12 (5,94%) pagavam cuidadores para os outros filhos no dia da consulta e 80 (39,6%) referiram perda do pagamento do dia de trabalho. Dos casos de alta complexidade, 9,33% das mães entrevistadas abriram mão de exercer atividade remunerada regular. As despesas com transporte para uma consulta em cirurgia pediátrica em um hospital de referência do Rio de Janeiro custam em média 4,42% do salário mínimo vigente, com uma média de 217,32 minutos de deslocamento por consulta. Despesas com alimentação e perda de remuneração pela ausência no trabalho também implicam encargos financeiros ou perda de remuneração significativos para o paciente em cada consulta.
In this study, we investigated the costs of transportation for each outpatient consultation in patients referred to specialized surgical evaluation in a tertiary hospital in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Descriptive study with guardians of pediatric patients scheduled for pediatric surgery, questioning transportation cost, and opportunity costs (loss of remuneration, food, payment of caregivers for other children, expenses for other companions). About half patients were aged up to five years; about two thirds had diseases of simple and definitive surgical resolution; and 181 families (89.17%) presented monthly family income up to BRL 1,999.00. The proportion of families that benefited from free transportation ranged from 4.26% to 15.56% for patients living up to 100 km away from the hospital (45.83% for patients living more than 100 km away from the institution). A total of 176 (87.13%) guardians reported expenses buying food, 12 (5.94%) paid caregivers to the other children on the day of the consultation, and 80 (39.6%) reported loss of remuneration for the working day. Among the high complexity cases, 9.33% of the mothers have given up their regular paid employment. Transportation expenses for a pediatric surgery consultation at a reference hospital in Rio de Janeiro cost about 4.42% of the current minimum wage, spending around 217.32 minutes of displacement/consultation. Expenses with food and loss of remuneration due to absence at work also entail significant financial charges or loss of remuneration for the patient at each consultation.
En esta investigación se estudiaron los costes de transporte por visita ambulatoria en pacientes remitidos para evaluación quirúrgica especializada en un hospital de atención terciaria en Río de Janeiro, Brasil. Es un estudio descriptivo con responsables de pacientes pediátricos programados para consulta de cirugía pediátrica, en el que se cuestionaron factores relacionados con el coste del transporte y los costes de oportunidad (pérdida de remuneración, alimentación, pago de cuidadores de otros niños, gastos de otros cuidadores). Aproximadamente la mitad de los pacientes tenían hasta 5 años de edad; cerca de 2/3 presentaban enfermedades de resolución quirúrgica simple y definitiva, 181 familias (89,17%) con renta familiar mensual de hasta BRL 1.999,00. La proporción de familias que se benefician de transporte gratuito varía entre el 4,26% y el 15,56% para los pacientes que viven hasta a 100 km del hospital (45,83% para los pacientes que viven a más de 100 km de la institución). Ciento setenta y seis (87,13%) cuidadores declaran gastos de alimentación, 12 (5,94%) pagan a los cuidadores de sus otros hijos en el día de la consulta y 80 (39,6%) declaran pérdida de salario por la jornada laboral. De los casos de alta complejidad, el 9,33% de las madres entrevistadas habían abandonado su actividad remunerada habitual. Los gastos de transporte para una consulta de cirugía pediátrica en un hospital de referencia de Río de Janeiro cuestan de media el 4,42% del salario mínimo vigente, con una media de 217,32 minutos de tiempo de viaje/consulta. Los gastos de alimentación y la pérdida de salario por ausencia en el trabajo también implican una importante carga económica o pérdida de salario para el paciente en cada cita.

Abstract Dental Specialties Centers (CEOs) are clinics representing part of the secondary oral health care system of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). Pediatric dentistry is not a requirement for service accreditation. However, the CEO of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (CEO-UFRGS) has provided dental care for children aged 3-11 years since 2017. The utilization rates of health services are influenced by absenteeism. Therefore, evaluation of absences for dental appointments is of primary importance. This study aimed to evaluate referral characteristics, absenteeism, and resolubility of pediatric dentistry appointments at the CEO-UFRGS. This retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted at the Dental Teaching Hospital of the university and analyzed secondary data from referrals and medical records. From August 2017 to December 2019, 167 referrals and 96 medical records were reviewed, from which data of individual variables related to the referral process and treatment were collected. Data were collected by a single trained examiner and analyzed using SPSS software. The main reasons for referral to secondary care were dental caries and pulpal or periapical diseases associated with difficult-to-manage behavior. An absenteeism rate of 28.1% at the first pediatric dental visit and a resolution rate of 65.6% were found. Binary logistic regression analysis indicated that each day of waiting for specialized care resulted in a 0.3% of higher chance of absence for appointment. This also increased the chance by 0.7% in child who attended the first visit to complete treatment, suggesting that the waiting time for attendance was associated with absenteeism and resolubility. Public policies that expand providing child dental care in secondary care are recommended to improve access to and resolubility of services.

Resumo Objetivo: Analisar as características dos afastamentos por doença entre servidores de duas universidades públicas do extremo sul do Brasil. Método: Foram analisados os afastamentos por doença, concedidos por licença médica ocorridos entre janeiro de 2015 a dezembro de 2019. As universidades possuem características semelhantes no que se refere a localização, contingente de servidores e alunos atendidos. Os indicadores foram baseados no número de licenças apresentadas, número de trabalhadores em licença e dias de trabalho perdidos. Foram analisados os afastamentos por categoria profissional, faixa etária, gênero, local de trabalho e doença que levou ao afastamento. Resultados: Ambas as universidades apresentam perfil semelhante de adoecimento dos servidores, sendo os transtornos psiquiátricos e as doenças osteomusculares as mais prevalentes. As categorias profissionais mais acometidas por doença são os profissionais da área da saúde e educação. O absenteísmo é mais presente entre as mulheres. Conclusão: Os resultados do estudo apontam a necessidade de discutir estratégias que resultem em mudanças na forma de organização do trabalho, promoção à saúde e qualidade de vida dos trabalhadores, visando minimizar os impactos que o adoecimento traz aos trabalhadores e às instituições.

Resumo Objetivo: investigar fatores associados ao afastamento do trabalho por distúrbios musculoesqueléticos entre professores e professoras da educação básica brasileira. Métodos: estudo transversal com amostra probabilística e representativa das grandes regiões do Brasil. Por meio de entrevistas realizadas por telefone, foi aplicado questionário para coleta de informações sociodemográficas, sobre estado de saúde, afastamentos do trabalho e características do trabalho docente. Empregou-se regressão de Poisson com variância robusta, para estimar razões de prevalência (RP) e intervalos de confiança de 95% (IC95%). Resultados: entre os 6.510 professores participantes (63,2% do sexo feminino), a prevalência de afastamento por distúrbios musculoesqueléticos foi de 14,7%, sendo 16,5% para o sexo feminino e 11,7% para o masculino. Os resultados indicaram associação entre afastamento e indisciplina em sala de aula (feminino = RP: 1,36; IC95%: 1,11;1,67; masculino = RP: 1,35; IC95%: 1,02;1,78), violência verbal praticada por estudantes (feminino = RP: 1,16; IC95%: 1,01;1,35; masculino = RP: 1,54; IC95%: 1,22;1,95) e alta exigência das tarefas profissionais (feminino = RP: 1,17; IC95%: 1,01;1,36; masculino = RP: 1,27; IC95%: 1,01;1,60). Conclusão: os fatores associados aos afastamentos do trabalho por distúrbios musculoesqueléticos estão relacionados à exposição dos professores, de ambos os sexos, à sobrecarga de trabalho e a ambientes escolares estressantes.
Abstract Objective: to investigate factors associated with work absence due to musculoskeletal disorders among teachers of Brazilian basic education. Methods: a cross-sectional study, which used a probabilistic and representative sample of the major regions of Brazil. Through telephone interviews, a questionnaire was applied to collect socio-demographic information on health status, work absences, and characteristics of teaching work. Poisson regression with robust variance was used to estimate prevalence ratios (PR) and 95% confidence intervals (95%CI). Results: among the 6,510 participating teachers (63.2% female), the prevalence of leave due to musculoskeletal disorders was 14.7% (16.5% among women and 11.7% among men). The results indicated an association between absence and indiscipline in the classroom (female = PR: 1.36; 95%CI: 1.11;1.67; male = PR: 1.35; 95%CI: 1.02;1.78 ), verbal violence committed by students (female = PR: 1.16; 95%CI: 1.01;1.35; male = PR: 1.54; 95%CI: 1.22;1.95) and high professional tasks demands (female = PR: 1.17; 95%CI: 1.01;1.36; male = PR: 1.27; 95%CI: 1.01;1.60). Conclusion: the factors associated with work absences due to musculoskeletal disorders are related to teachers' exposure to work overload and stressful school environments.
