SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of home-based pelvic floor muscle training in women with urinary incontinence, addressing the difficulties arising from social isolation due to the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic by utilizing a specialized mobile app. METHODS: This randomized, single-group clinical trial aimed to assess the efficacy of pelvic floor muscle training guided by a mobile app (Diario Saúde) in women with stress urinary incontinence. Participants were instructed via telephone to engage in pelvic floor muscle training exercises twice a day for 30 days. Pre- and post-treatment, participants completed validated questionnaires regarding urinary symptoms and quality of life through telephone interviews. Additionally, treatment adherence was evaluated. RESULTS: A total of 156 women were enrolled in the study, with a mean age of 49.3±14.2 years. Significant improvements in urinary incontinence symptoms and quality of life were observed following pelvic floor muscle training guided by the mobile app (p<0.001). Notably, 74.3% of the participants reported performing the exercises with appropriate frequency. Of the participants, 62% reported either complete or substantial improvement in urinary symptoms post-treatment. CONCLUSION: This study revealed notable enhancements in stress urinary incontinence, urinary storage, and overall quality of life subsequent to pelvic floor muscle training guided by a mobile app, particularly during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. The mobile app demonstrated robust acceptance and adherence among women experiencing urinary incontinence.

Abstract Introduction The incidence of stroke in adults has increased in recent years, and individuals who survive often have one or more motor and cognitive deficits. In Brazil, the Unified Health System (SUS) faces difficulties in reabsorbing the entire population that needs physiotherapy after hospital discharge. In addition, the distance to rehabilitation units in Rio de Janeiro can be far, making it impossible for some patients to receive the treatment they need. Objective To create a complementary mobile application for adults with unilateral motor deficits and to evaluate its content through expert judges. Methods Applied research for the construction of a mobile app with the prototyping method by Pressman. Steps: 1) literature review; 2) development of the technological framework; 3) construction of the content; and 4) construction of a prototype. The app content was evaluated using the e-Delphi Method for peer review using a Likert-type questionnaire on the Google Forms platform. Results The application was developed and designed to run on the Android operating system. Three rounds were carried out to evaluate the app's content. The final average of the content validity index (CVI) of all content items was 0.85, reaching the minimum agreement of 0.80, suggested by authors. Conclusion The content of a mobile app for adults with unilateral post-stroke motor deficits was developed and approved, and its content was evaluated by expert judges. We believe that this app can contribute to the promotion of physical rehabilitation in people with unilateral motor deficits after hospital discharge.
Resumo Introdução A incidência do acidente vascular cerebral (AVC) em adultos tem aumentado nos últimos anos e os indivíduos sobreviventes apresentam frequentemente um ou mais déficits motores e cognitivos. O Sistema Único de Saúde enfrenta dificuldades em reabsorver toda a população que necessita de fisioterapia após a alta hospitalar. Além disso, a distância entre as unidades de reabilitação no Rio de Janeiro impossibilita que alguns pacientes realizem o tratamento necessário. Objetivo Criar um aplicativo móvel complementar para adultos com déficits motores dimidiados e avaliar seu conteúdo através de juízes-especialistas. Métodos Pesquisa aplicada para a construção de um aplicativo móvel com método de prototipação por Pressman. Etapas: 1) revisão da literatura; 2) desenvolvimento do arcabouço tecnológico; 3) construção do conteúdo; 4) construção de um protótipo. Avaliou-se o conteúdo do aplicativo pelo método e-Delphi para avaliação por pares através de um questionário do tipo Likert na plataforma Google Forms. Resultados O aplicativo foi desenvolvido e projetado para rodar no sistema operacional Android. Foram realizadas três rodadas para a avaliação do conteúdo do aplicativo. A média final do índice de validade de conteúdo (IVC) de todos os itens do conteúdo foi de 0,85, atingindo a concordância mínima de 0,80 sugerida por autores. Conclusão Foi desenvolvido e aprovado o conteúdo de um aplicativo móvel para adultos com déficits motores dimidiados pós-AVC e realizada a ava-liação de seu conteúdo através de juízes-especialistas. Espera-se que o aplicativo possa contribuir para a promoção da reabilitação física de pessoas com déficits motores dimidiados após alta hospitalar.

A methodological description item, with the objective of presenting the theoretical foundation and the development process of CLUMPS, a smartphone application designed and developed in Brazil, which aims to promote physical activity using gamification elements in its development proposal. The manuscript describes the application's components, its proposed intervention in the users' lifestyle and the epistemological basis on which the elements were built. Thus, CLUMPS was designed as a collection instrument and aggregator tool for interventions at the behavioral level, described as a mobile application. Gamified stimuli were used, such as counting steps, counting points, incentives, goals, challenges and rank, through the cognitive social theoretical basis to promote physical activity. The gamified strategies included in the development of CLUMPS can motivate the promotion of physical activity among users.
Se realiza una descripción metodológica con la finalidad de presentar la base teórica y el proceso de desarrollo de CLUMPS, una aplicación para teléfonos inteligentes diseñada y desarrollada en Brasil, que tiene como objetivo promover la actividad física, mediante el uso de elementos de gamificación en su propuesta de desarrollo. El artículo describe los componentes de la aplicación, su propuesta de intervención en el estilo de vida de los usuarios y la base epistemológica sobre la que se construyeron los elementos. CLUMPS fue diseñado como un instrumento de recolección y herramienta agregadora de intervenciones a nivel conductual, descritas como una aplicación móvil. Se utilizaron estímulos gamificados como conteo de pasos, conteo de puntos, incentivos, metas, desafíos y rango, a través de la base teórica cognitiva social para promover la actividad física. Las estrategias gamificadas incluidas en el desarrollo de CLUMPS pueden motivar la promoción de la actividad física entre los usuarios.

OBJETIVO: Descrever o processo de produção de um protótipo de aplicativo web para o acompanhamento de gestantes e puérperas. MÉTODO: Estudo de produção tecnológica, do tipo prototipagem, desenvolvido em cinco etapas: Identificação da relevância de um aplicativo para o acompanhamento online de gestantes e puérperas com a participação de duas usuárias e nove profissionais; modelagem do protótipo; validação da prototipagem; designe implementação do aplicativo em sua forma. RESULTADOS: O aplicativo tem se mostrado uma ferramenta tecnológica de fácil, rápido e seguro acesso, além de importante aliado no atendimento virtual de gestantes e puérperas, minimizando a exposição e o tempo de espera em pronto atendimentos e consultórios profissionais. CONCLUSÃO: O aplicativo web tem ampliado a adesão de usuárias às consultas pré-natais, puericultura e puerpério, possibilitando um novo espaço de atuação profissional para o Enfermeiro.
OBJECTIVE: To describe the production process of a web app prototype to monitor pregnant and puerperal women. METHOD: A technological production study, of the prototyping type, developed in five stages: Identification of the relevance of an app for the online monitoring of pregnant and puerperal women with the participation of two users and nine professionals; prototype modeling; prototyping validation; and design and implementation of the app in its online version. RESULTS: The app has proved to be a technological tool that is easy, fast and safe to access, as well as an important ally in the virtual care of pregnant and puerperal women, minimizing exposure and waiting time in emergency services and professional offices. CONCLUSION: The web app has expanded users' adherence to the prenatal, childcare and postpartum consultations, providing a new space for the nurses' professional practice.
OBJETIVO: Describir el proceso de producción de un prototipo de aplicación web para el seguimiento de gestante y puérperas. MÉTODO: Estudio de producción tecnológica sobre eldesarrollo de un prototipo, realizado en cinco etapas: Identificación de la importancia del uso de una aplicación para el seguimiento onlinede gestante y puérperas con la participación de dos usuarias y nueve profesionales; creación del modelo del prototipo; validación del desarrollo del prototipo; diseño e implementación de la aplicación online. RESULTADOS: La aplicación ha demostrado ser una herramienta tecnológica de acceso fácil, rápido y seguro, además de un importante aliado en la atención virtual de gestante y puérperas, minimizando la exposición y el tiempo de espera en los servicios de emergencia y consultorios profesionales. CONCLUSIÓN: La aplicación webha ampliado la adhesión de las usuarias a las consultas prenatales, puericultura y posparto y habilitó un nuevo espacio para la práctica profesional del enfermero

@#Diseases such as malaria, dengue, Zika and chikungunya remain endemic in many countries. Setting and deploying traps to capture the host/vector species are fundamental to understand their density and distributions. Human effort to manage the trap data accurately and timely is an exhaustive endeavour when the study area expands and period prolongs. One stop mobile app to manage and monitor the process of targeted species trapping, from field to laboratory level is still scarce. Toward this end, we developed a new mobile app named “PesTrapp” to acquire the vector density index based on the mobile updates of ovitraps and species information in field and laboratory. This study aimed to highlight the mobile app’s development and design, elucidate the practical user experiences of using the app and evaluate the preliminary user assessment of the mobile app. The mobile app was developed using mobile framework and database. User evaluation of the mobile app was based on the adjusted Mobile App Rating Scale and Standardized User Experience Percentile Rank Questionnaire. The process flows of system design and detailed screen layouts were described. The user experiences with and without the app in a project to study Aedes surveillance in six study sites in Selangor, Malaysia were elucidated. The overall mean user evaluation score of the mobile app was 4.0 out of 5 (SD=0.6), reflects its acceptability of the users. The PesTrapp, a one-stop solution, is anticipated to improve the entomological surveillance work processes. This new mobile app can contribute as a tool in the vector control countermeasure strategies.

Este trabalho trata do desenvolvimento de um aplicativo para dispositivos móveis para Avaliação Clínica do Enfermeiro em paciente crítico, fundamentada na Teoria das Necessidades Humanas Básicas, de Wanda Horta. Como método, foi utilizada a pesquisa metodológica aplicada de produção tecnológica, desenvolvida em duas grandes fases. A primeira, denominada fase exploratória, foi caracterizada pela revisão de literatura e informações obtidas dos participantes relativas aos aspectos que consideram na avaliação clínica dos pacientes críticos sob seus cuidados. A segunda se refere ao desenvolvimento da tecnologia assistencial, tendo incluído duas etapas: definição de requisitos e elaboração do mapa conceitual do aplicativo; geração das alternativas de implementação e prototipagem. Como produto final, foi criado o aplicativo Avalia TIS - PACIENTE CRÍTICO para dispositivos iOS e Android, que inclui módulos de cadastro e login do usuário; identificação do paciente; histórico/anamnese; e avaliação clínica. Esta tecnologia contempla funções de inteligência artificial, oferecendo a somatória automática das escalas de avaliação e alertas na tela, quando são registrados parâmetros vitais alterados. Conclui-se que esta tecnologia consiste em uma inovação na coleta de dados dos pacientes em cuidados intensivos. Com uma estrutura dinâmica, ela permite que enfermeiros façam uma avaliação clínica, capaz de contemplar as principais necessidades apresentadas por esses pacientes, em diversos ambientes de cuidados intensivos.
This paper introduces the development of an app for mobile devices, designated to nurse's clinical evaluation of critically ill patients on intensive care, based on the Theory of Basic Human Needs of Wanda Horta. As a method, it was used a methodological research of technological production, developed in two major phases. The first phase, called exploratory phase, characterizes a literature review and collect information from some participants based on the aspects they consider in the clinical evaluation of critically ill patients under their care. The second phase refers to the app's development and includes two stages: definition of requirements and elaboration of the app's conceptual map; establishment of implementation and prototyping alternatives. As a final product, the app called Avalia TIS - CRITICAL PACIENT for iOS and Android devices was created, which includes registration and user login, patient identification, history/anamnesis and clinical evaluation. This technology incorporates functions of artificial intelligence, offering the automatic summation of the evaluation scales and alerts on the screen when vital parameters changes are recorded. In conclusion, this technology consists of an innovation in the data collection from patients in intensive care. With a dynamic structure, it allows nurses to perform a clinical evaluation, capable to contemplate the main needs presented by their patients in several intensive care environments.

The medical social significance of the arterial hypertension (AH) in the world is determined by its high prevalence, which allows to call it a non-infectious pandemic of today. The AH still remains the most common chronic disease that triggers the cardiovascular continuum, significantly reduces the body's adaptive capacity, worsens the living standards for people of socially minded age, and represents the leading global risk of increased cardiovascular mortality. The purpose of the study was comparison of informative value of various methods for measuring the arterial blood pressure (ABP) (office-based, home-based using electronic apps, and daily) in order to improve the risk assessment of the condition and monitoring the treatment efficiency for the AH patients. The method of qualitative and quantitative analysis of scientific literature and public online sources was used in the study. It has been established that the ABP analysis is an important tool to prevent the negative consequences of the AH. The results of the experimental study have revealed that hourly home-based ABP monitoring using a mobile electronic app is more informative than monitoring at long intervals, and provides information which is close to the average daily indicators obtained in the daily ABP monitoring.

Objective@#To evaluate the effect of mobile application (APP) based interactive peer support on glycemic control in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM).@*Methods@#The data of the present study were from the largest mobile APP platform for patients with T1DM in China, Tangtangquan. Patients with T1DM who has registered in the APP for at least 1 year and had completed data entry were recruited. According to the monthly interaction index during the first year of APP registration (including four indicators: praise, comment, posting and collection), the eligible patients were divided into the high-interaction group and the low-interaction group. The changes from baseline of self-blood glucose monitoring frequency (SMBG), glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), incidence of hyperglycemia and incidence of hypoglycemia were compared between the two groups after one year of using the APP.@*Results@#A total of 238 patients with T1DM with an age of (27±8) years were included. Among them, 77.3% (184/238) were female. The baseline SMBG [the low-interaction group (1.71±1.14) times/day vs. the high-interaction group (1.82±1.15) times/day] and HbA1c [the low-interaction group (6.72±0.99)% vs. the high-interaction group (6.76±1.04)%] were comparable between the two groups. After one year use of the APP, the frequency of SMBG in the high-interaction group was significantly higher than that in the low-interaction group [ΔSMBG (0.59+2.06) times/d vs. (0.08+1.69) times/d, t=4.280, P=0.04), and the reduction of HbA1c was more obvious in the high-interaction group [ΔHbA1c (-0.40+1.10)% vs. (-0.06+1.13)%, t=5.651, P=0.018] than in the lower-interaction group. The incidence of hyperglycemia in the high-interaction group was significantly lower than that in the low-interaction group [13.19(6.22,23.19)% vs. 17.69(10.56,30.49)%, Z=2.850, P=0.005]. There was no significant difference in the incidence of hypoglycemia between the two groups [4.62(2.14, 8.03)% vs. 4.83(2.06, 8.87)%, Z=1.276, P=0.204]. The correlation analysis showed that interaction index was significantly associated with the reduction of HbA1c and incidence of hyperglycemia.@*Conclusion@#Participation in interactive peer education via mobile APP may be beneficent for glycemic control in patients with T1DM.

@#Introduction: The application of M-learning or mobile application (app) as a tool to disseminate occupational safety and health (OSH) information among students and staff in the university, to replace the use of conventional noticeboard was assessed in this study. Materials and Methods: Study was conducted between February to March 2016 and involved 124 respondents from health sciences program in Universiti Putra Malaysia. OSH information was incorporated into a mobile-app using online software and respondents were requested to use the app for fourteen days. A self-administered questionnaire was used to assess the level of knowledge, attitude and practice of respondents before and after using the app. Results: The mobile app has significantly increased the knowledge score among respondents (z = -7.331, p<0.001). The mean (SD) of knowledge score has increased from 24.39 (5.84) to 30.40 (4.97). The attitude score also has significantly increased from 12.85 (2.04) to 14.02 (2.42) (z= -4.587, p<0.001). The mobile app was not significantly changed the practice (z= -0.688, p=0.491) and the perception among respondents (z= -0.337, p=0.736). Respondents stated that the app was user-friendly (49.4%, N=61), easy to access (N= 64, 51.6%), and have interesting contents (N= 63, 50.8%). They believed continuous used of the app may improve their knowledge (N= 64, 51.6%), and increase their awareness (N= 67, 54.0%) on safety and health. Conclusion: The M-learning (mobile app) has a potential to be used to promote the safety and health culture among students on the campus.

Objective To investigate the application and needs' survey of mobile App health software in the patients with respiratory chronic disease. To make mobile App health software development more targeted and practical in the near future. To provide the foundation for continuous nursing service. Methods A survey research method was adopted in which self-designed questionnaires were administered to 163 patients with respiratory chronic disease from respiratory ward and outpatient clinic. Results Totally 119(73.0%) patients used smartphone, the mean score of experience in using mobile phones was (32.4 ± 14.1), which was in the medium range. There were 80 patients had ever installed and used this kind of App. The frequency of use of mobile App health software was Breathing Exercises App, Healthy Exercise App, Healthy Diet App and Medicine Remind App. The major reason for using of these App was disease prevention, self health care, disease and health monitoring and rehabilitation exercises. There were 120 patients would like to install App health software specific to respiratory chronic disease. They hope the characters of these App were simple operated, practical and without product placement. These App health software should include following function:timely feedback and guidance, providing practical method and help to register. Conclusion Most patients with respiratory chronic disease had the hardware basis and experience basis of using mobile App health software. More targeted and practical mobile App health software for the patients with respiratory chronic diseases should be developed to provide the foundation for continuous nursing service and patient′s self-management.

OBJECTIVES: The posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) checklist (PCL) is currently the most popular self-report scale employed in screening PTSD. This study was conducted 1) to test the reliability and validity of PCL in veterans of the Vietnam War and 2) to compare the results when using a conventional paper survey and mobile app survey. METHODS: Participants included 186 Korean veterans of the Vietnam War. Mini Mental Status Examination, PTSD module of Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV (SCID), and Life Event Checklist were administered. PCL was administered in either written format or mobile app. Diagnostic validity of the PCL was compared using the PTSD module of SCID. Other psychometric properties of PCL were also calculated. RESULTS: PCL results using different methods, paper and mobile app, showed no significant difference in each item and total score. Cronbach's coefficient of PCL was 0.95, optimal cut-off 49.5, sensitivity 91.7%, and specificity 93.5%. CONCLUSION: PCL showed excellent internal reliability, sensitivity, specificity, and validity. There was no statistically significant difference between survey methods. These results suggest that PCL is a reliable self-report scale in veterans. In addition, PCL with mobile app can be helpful in screening PTSD.
