RESUMO

Objective:To assess the effects of low-dose ionizing radiation on the thyroid of medical radiation workers. Methods:Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 27 articles, involving 22 937 individuals, were screened finally from relevant literature published from 1996 to 2022. Meta-analysis was carried out using Stata 16.0 for serum levels of triiodothyronine (T 3), free triiodothyronine (FT 3), thyroid hormone (T 4), free thyroid hormone (FT 4), thyrotropin-stimulating hormone (TSH) and thyroid nodule rates. As well, subgroup analysis were carried out of thyroid function in different types of radiation workers. Results:The standardized mean difference (SMD) at T 3 and T 4 levels for radiation workers was -0.19 (-0.37, -0.01) and -0.34 (-0.38, -0.30), lower than that of control group ( Z=2.07, -16.06, P<0.05). The SMD at FT 4 levels for radiation workers was 0.22 (0.06, 0.39), higher than control group ( Z=2.61, P<0.05). The relative risk of thyroid nodules in radiation workers was 1.47 (1.19, 1.82), higher than that of control group ( Z=-3.58, P<0.05). The analysis result for subgroup showed that the SMD for T 3, T 4 and TSH levels in the interventional radiology workers were -0.29 (-0.51, -0.07), -0.31 (-0.47, -0.15) and -0.43 (-0.73, -0.13) ( Z=-2.55, -3.86, -2.82, P<0.05), respectively, and the SMD for T 4 levels in the nuclear medicine workers was -0.26 (-0.45, -0.07), which meaned a reduced risk compared to the control group ( Z=-2.70, P<0.05). Conclusions:Long-term low doses of ionising radiation may have adverse effects on thyroid hormone and thyroid nodule in radiation workers, particularly in interventional radiology workers, and attention should be focused on their radiation protection.

RESUMO

The tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) is broadly composed of various immune cells, and its heterogeneity is characterized by both immune cells and stromal cells. During the course of tumor formation and progression and anti-tumor treatment, the composition of the TIME becomes heterogeneous. Such immunological heterogeneity is not only present between populations but also exists on temporal and spatial scales. Owing to the existence of TIME, clinical outcomes can differ when a similar treatment strategy is provided to patients. Therefore, a comprehensive assessment of TIME heterogeneity is essential for developing precise and effective therapies. Facilitated by advanced technologies, it is possible to understand the complexity and diversity of the TIME and its influence on therapy responses. In this review, we discuss the potential reasons for TIME heterogeneity and the current approaches used to explore it. We also summarize clinical intervention strategies based on associated mechanisms or targets to control immunological heterogeneity.

RESUMO

Objective: To analyze associated factors and adverse pregnancy outcomes of postpartum hemorrhage in the caesarean section of puerperae with different types of placenta previa. Methods: This retrospective research was a case-control study. Puerperae with cesarean section of placenta previa from January 2019 to December 2020 in Women's Hospital, School of Medicine, Zhejiang University were collected and divided into the<1 000 ml control group or ≥1 000 ml postpartum hemorrhage group according to the amount of blood loss during cesarean section. Differences in continuous variables were analyzed by t-test and categorical variables were analyzed by χ2 test. The risk factors of postpartum hemorrhage were analyzed by logistic multivariate regression. Results: A total of 962 puerperae were enrolled with 773 cases in the control group and 189 cases in the postpartum hemorrhage group. The incidence of gestational weeks, gravidity, parity, induced abortion, placental accreta and preoperative hemoglobin<110 g/L was significantly different between two groups in different types of placenta previa (P<0.001). Logistic multivariate regression model analysis showed that the independent risk factors of postpartum hemorrhage in the caesarean section of low-lying placenta included placental accreta (OR=12.713, 95%CI: 4.296-37.625), preoperative hemoglobin<110 g/L (OR=2.377, 95%CI: 1.062-5.321), and prenatal vaginal bleeding (OR=4.244, 95%CI: 1.865-9.656). The independent risk factors of postpartum hemorrhage in the caesarean section of placenta previa included once induced abortion (OR=2.789, 95%CI:1.189-6.544), induced abortion≥2 (OR=2.843, 95%CI:1.101-7.339), placental accreta (OR=6.079, 95%CI:3.697-9.996), HBsAg positive (OR=3.891, 95%CI:1.385-10.929), and placental attachment to the anterior uterine wall (OR=2.307, 95%CI:1.285-4.142). The rate of postpartum hemorrhage and premature delivery in puerperae with placenta previa was higher than that in puerperae with low-lying placenta (P<0.001). Conclusions: The associated factors of postpartum hemorrhage in puerperae with different types of placenta previa are different. Placenta accreta is the common risk factor of postpartum hemorrhage in puerperae with low-lying placenta and placenta previa.

RESUMO

The function of the central nervous system was significantly altered under high-altitude hypoxia, and these changes lead to central nervous system disease and affected the metabolism of drugs in vivo. The blood-brain barrier is essential for maintaining central nervous system stability and plays a key role in the regulation of drug metabolism, and barrier structure and dysfunction affect drug transport to the brain. Changes in the structure and function of the blood-brain barrier and the transport of drugs across the blood-brain barrier under high-altitude hypoxia are regulated by changes in brain microvascular endothelial cells, astrocytes and pericytes, and are regulated by drug metabolism factors such as drug transporters and drug metabolizing enzymes. This article reviews the effects of high-altitude hypoxia on the structure and function of the blood-brain barrier and the effects of changes in the blood-brain barrier on drug metabolism. We investigate the regulatory effects and underlying mechanisms of the blood-brain barrier and related pathways such as transcription factors, inflammatory factors and nuclear receptors on drug transport under high-altitude hypoxia.

RESUMO

Objective: To investigate dose-response associations between fluid overload (FO) and hospital mortality in patients with sepsis. Methods: The current cohort study was prospective and multicenter. Data were derived from the China Critical Care Sepsis Trial, which was conducted from January 2013 to August 2014. Patients aged≥18 years who were admitted to intensive care units (ICUs) for at least 3 days were included. Fluid input/output, fluid balance, fluid overload (FO), and maximum FO (MFO) were calculated during the first 3 days of ICU admission. The patients were divided into three groups based on MFO values: MFO<5%L/kg, MFO 5%-10%L/kg, and MFO≥10% L/kg. Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to predict time to death in hospital in the three groups. Associations between MFO and in-hospital mortality were evaluated via multivariable Cox regression models with restricted cubic splines. Results: A total of 2 070 patients were included in the study, of which 1 339 were male and 731 were female, and the mean age was (62.6±17.9) years. Of 696 (33.6%) who died in hospital, 968 (46.8%) were in the MFO<5%L/kg group, 530 (25.6%) were in the MFO 5%-10%L/kg group, and 572 (27.6%) were in the MFO≥10%L/kg group. Deceased patients had significantly higher fluid input than surviving patients during the first 3 days [7 642.0 (2 874.3, 13 639.5) ml vs. 5 738.0 (1 489.0, 7 153.5)ml], and lower fluid output [4 086.0 (1 367.0, 6 354.5) ml vs. 6 130.0 (2 046.0, 11 762.0) ml]. The cumulative survival rates in the three groups gradually decreased with length of ICU stay, and they were 74.9% (725/968) in the MFO<5% L/kg group, 67.7% (359/530) in the MFO 5%-10%L/kg group, and 51.6% (295/572) in the MFO≥10%L/kg group. Compared with the MFO<5%L/kg group, the MFO≥10%L/kg group had a 49% increased risk of inhospital mortality (HR=1.49, 95%CI 1.28-1.73). For each 1% L/kg increase in MFO, the risk of in-hospital mortality increased by 7% (HR=1.07, 95% CI 1.05-1.09). There was a"J-shaped"non-linear association between MFO and in-hospital mortality with a nadir of 4.1% L/kg. Conclusion: Higher and lower optimum fluid balance levels were associated with an increased risk of in-hospital mortality, as reflected by the observed J-shaped non-linear association between fluid overload and inhospital mortality.

RESUMO

Gut microbiome sequencing studies have great potential to translate microbial analysis outcomes into human health research. Sequencing strategies of 16S amplicon and whole-metagenome shotgun (WMS) are two main methods in microbiome research with respective advantages. However, how sample heterogeneity, sequencers and library preparation protocols affect the sequencing reproducibility of gut microbiome needs further investigation. This study aims to provide a reference for the selection of sequencing technologies by comparing differences in microbial composition from different sampling sites. The results of three widely adopted sequencers showed that the technical repetition correlation (r= 0. 94) was high in WMS method, while the biological repetition correlation (r = 0. 69) was low. Bray-Curtis distance identified that dissimilarity from biological replicates was larger than that of technical replicates (P<0. 001). In addition, dissimilarity and specific taxonomic profiles were observed between 16S and WMS datasets. Our results imply that homogenization is a necessary step before sample DNA extraction. The sequencers contributed less to taxonomic variation than the library preparation protocols. We developed an empirical Bayes approach that " borrowed information" in calculations and analyzed batch effect parameters using standardized data and prior distributions of (non-) parameters, which may improve population comparability between 16S and WMS and provide a basis for further application to fusion analysis of published 16S and microbial datasets.

RESUMO

Objective To explore the absorbed dose to the common tissues of subjects in four clinical CT scanning modes and the spatial distribution of the radiation field in chest scanning, in order to provide a basis for the radiation protection of subjects and the space in the machine room. Methods A thermoluminescence detector (TLD) was used to measure the absorbed doses to the eye lens, thyroid gland, gonad, chest and abdominal skins of the anthropomorphic phantom in four CT scanning modes. The TLD was used to monitor the air kerma at different positions from the CT diagnostic table during chest spiral scanning. Results The absorbed doses to the eye lens, thyroid gland, gonad, chest and abdominal skins of the anthropomorphic phantom in four CT scanning modes were 0.040-64.818 mGy, 0.154-10.155 mGy, 0.028-0.154 mGy, 0.443-17.141 mGy, and 0.093-14.346 mGy, respectively. The maximum air kerma value of the space radiation field during chest scanning was 0.049 mGy, and the farther the distance from the CT tube, the smaller the value. Conclusion The absorbed doses to the common tissues of subjects examined by the four CT scanning modes generally do not exceed the threshold doses. The dose received by the companion of the subject during a single chest CT scan was small. In order to minimize radiation hazards, shielding measures can be taken in CT scanning to reduce the absorbed doses to the tissues of the subject, and the companion of the subject should appropriately increase the distance from the tube and the diagnostic table.

RESUMO

This study investigated the protective effect and related mechanisms of Xinhui citrus fermentation liquor on mice with ulcerative colitis. Animal experiments follow the rules of Animal Ethics Committee of Southern Medical University. C57BL/6 mice were given 3% dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) for 6 days to induce acute ulcerative colitis. During this period, Xinhui citrus fermentation liquor, decoction of Citrus reticulata blanco (both orally administrated with 300 mg·kg-1·d-1 crude polysaccharide) or positive drug 5-aminosalicylic acid (100 mg·kg-1·d-1) were gavaged continuously for 9 days. Cecal contents were collected for 16S rRNA sequencing analysis. The levels of inflammatory factors, tight junction proteins and nuclear factor erythroid 2 related factor 2 / Nod-like receptor protein 3 (Nrf2/NLRP3) pathway related proteins in the colon were detected by real-time PCR (RT-PCR), immunofluorescence and Western blot. Our results showed that Xinhui citrus fermentation liquor and Citrus reticulata blanco protected against UC-induced weight loss, diarrhea, bloody stool, and colon shortening. The mRNA and protein levels of pro-inflammatory factors, such as interleukin 6 (Il-6) and CXC chemokine ligand 10 (Cxcl10) and NLRP3 inflammasome were significantly decreased; the mRNA levels of colon anti-inflammatory factor (Il-10), tight junction protein [zonula occludens-1 (Zo-1), occludin, claudin-1], mucin 2 (Muc2), Nrf2, as well as the mRNA and protein levels of NAD(P)H quinine oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) and heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1) were significantly increased. In addition, Xinhui citrus fermentation liquor increased the abundance of Akkermansia and reduced the abundance of harmful bacteria Enterococcus and Streptococcus. The correlation analysis showed that the abundance of Akkermansia was positively correlated with anti-inflammatory factors, tight junction protein and the related genes levels of Nrf2 signaling pathway. In summary, Xinhui citrus fermentation liquor ameliorates acute ulcerative colitis in mice via regulating intestinal bacteria homeostasis and Nrf2/NLRP3 pathway to repair intestinal mucosa.

RESUMO

ObjectiveTo explore the therapeutic effect and possible mechanism of Banxia Xiexintang and its disassembled prescriptions in regulating the flora disorder induced by mixed antibiotics in young rats. MethodSeventy male BALB/C young rats were randomly assigned into 7 groups: blank group, model group, Bifidobacterium tetralogy viable tablets (0.68 g·kg-1) group, Banxia Xiexintang (9.1 g·kg-1) group, Xinkai (3.19 g·kg-1) group, Kujiang (1.82 g·kg-1) group, and Ganbu (4.1 g·kg-1) group, with 10 rats in each group. Except the blank group, the other groups were given mixed antibiotics by gavage to induce intestinal flora disorder. After 14 days, the rats in different drug groups were administrated with corresponding drugs by gavage, and those in the blank group and model group with the same amount of normal saline once a day for 14 days. After that, fecal samples were collected aseptically for 16S rDNA sequencing of intestinal flora, and lipopolysaccharide (LPS, 10 mg·kg-1) was injected intraperitoneally to induce inflammatory reaction. The tissue morphology of colonic mucosa was observed via hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining, and the macrophage infiltration of colonic mucosa was observed via toluidine blue staining and immunohistochemistry. The expression of interleukin-1β (IL-1β), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-8 (IL-8), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and interleukin-10 (IL-10) mRNA were determined by real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (Real-time PCR). ResultCompared with the blank group, the modeling changed the intestinal flora structure of the young rats (P<0.01), damaged the colonic mucosa, reduced the macrophage infiltration, and down-regulated the mRNA levels of IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α, and IL-10 (P<0.01). Compared with the model group, bifidobacterium quadruple viable tablets, Banxia Xiexintang and its disassembled prescriptions increased the diversity of intestinal flora and the relative abundance of beneficial bacteria such as Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes (P<0.01). At the same time, they ameliorated colonic mucosal injury (P<0.05, P<0.01), increased macrophage infiltration (P<0.05, P<0.01), and up-regulated the mRNA levels of IL-6, IL-8, and TNF-α (P<0.01). The mRNA level of IL-1β was up-regulated in Bifidobacterium tetralogy viable tablets, Banxia Xiexintang, Kujiang, and Ganbu groups (P<0.01), and that of IL-10 was up-regulated in Bifidobacterium tetralogy viable tablets, Banxia Xiexintang, Xinkai, and Ganbu groups (P<0.01). ConclusionBanxia Xiexintang and the disassembled prescriptions can adjust the intestinal flora of young rats exposed to antibiotics and protect the immune barrier of colonic mucosa after intestinal flora disorder. In particularly, the whole prescription of Banxia Xiexintang demonstrates the best performance.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the morphological, histological and ultrastructural changes of acute closed rupture of Achilles tendon, in order to clarify the pathological basis of the injury and to explore the significance.@*METHODS@#From January 2015 to January 2019, 35 patients with acute Achilles tendon rupture who underwent the minimally invasive Achilles tendon suture technique were retrospectively analyzed. Among these patients, 12 cases in acute open Achilles tendon rupture group included 10 males and 2 females, with an average age of (35.1±9.7) years old ranging from 19 to 50, and the time from injury to operation was 2 to 8 hours with an average of(5.6±1.8);23 cases in acute closed Achilles tendon rupture group included 21 males and 2 females, with an average age of (35.5±6.6) years old ranging from 18 to 50, and the time from injury to operation was 3 to 15 hours with an average of (7.5±3.1). The gross appearance and imaging findings of the broken end of Achilles tendon tissue in the two groups were compared by naked eye observation and foot and ankle MRI at 4 to 6 hours before operation. HE staining, scanning and fluoroscopic electron microscopy, immunohistochemistry(Sirius red staining) were performed on the intraoperative Achilles tendon tissue specimens at 1 to 2 days after operation, the collagen fiber degeneration and local fat infiltration, collagen fiber shape, cell morphology and function, and the distribution of typeⅠand type Ⅲ collagen fibers in Achilles tendon were compared between the two groups.@*RESULTS@#Compared with the acute open Achilles tendon rupture group, the acute closed Achilles tendon rupture group had poor elasticity, hard texture, moderate edema, irregular shape of Achilles tendon broken end, horsetail shape, and more calcification around the broken end. HE staining results:the collagen fibers in the Achilles tendon of the acute open Achilles tendon rupture group were arranged irregularly, with hyaline degeneration and fat infiltration; The results of electron microscopy showed that collagen arranged disorderly and fibroblasts atrophied in the acute closed Achilles tendon rupture group. Immunohistochemical(Sirius staining) results:the proportion of collagenⅠin the acute open Achilles tendon rupture group and the acute closed Achilles tendon rupture group was(91.12±4.34)% and(54.71±17.78)% respectively, and the proportion of collagen Ⅲ was (8.88±4.34)% and (45.29±17.78)% respectively. The content of collagenⅠin the acute closed Achilles tendon rupture group was lower than that in the acute open Achilles tendon rupture group, and the content of collagen Ⅲ in the acute closed Achilles tendon rupture group was higher than that in the acute open Achilles tendon rupture group(P<0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#The morphology, histology and ultrastructure of the acute closed ruptured Achilles tendon are significantly altered compared with the normal Achilles tendon. The original fine and orderly spatial structure cannot be maintained, part of collagen Ⅰ is replaced by collagen Ⅲ, and the toughness and strength of the tendon tissue decreased, which may be the feature of degeneration of the Achilles tendon and an important pathological basis for closed Achilles tendon rupture.

RESUMO

Background Ultrasound-guided continuous thoracic paravertebral block can provide pain-relieving and opioid-sparing effects in patients receiving open hepatectomy. We hypothesize that these effects may improve the quality of recovery (QoR) after open hepatectomy. Methods Seventy-six patients undergoing open hepatectomy were randomized to receive a continuous thoracic paravertebral block with ropivacaine (CTPVB group) or normal saline (control group). All patients received patient-controlled intravenous analgesia with morphine postoperatively for 48 hours. The primary outcome was the global Chinese 15-item Quality of Recovery score on postoperative day 7, which was statistically analyzed using Student's t-test. Results Thirty-six patients in the CTPVB group and 37 in the control group completed the study. Compared to the control group, the CTPVB group had significantly increased global Chinese 15-item Quality of Recovery scores (133.14 ± 12.97 vs. 122.62 ± 14.89, P = 0.002) on postoperative day 7. Postoperative pain scores and cumulative morphine consumption were significantly lower for up to 8 and 48 hours (P < 0.05; P = 0.002), respectively, in the CTPVB group. Conclusion Perioperative CTPVB markably promotes patient's QoR after open hepatectomy with a profound analgesic effect in the early postoperative period.

RESUMO

The function of circulatory system, nervous system and endocrine system is significantly changed in hypoxic environments. These changes affect the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of drugs in the body. Drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters are the main factors affecting drug metabolism; microRNA (miRNA) can act directly on drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters and can regulate their genes through hypoxia-inducible factor, inflammatory cytokines, and nuclear receptors. This article reviews the effect of hypoxia on drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters and the mechanisms by which miRNA modulates these proteins and their expression during hypoxia.

RESUMO

Objective:To investigate the differences of main components of prepared Morindae Officinalis Radix,Morindae Officinalis Radix processed with steaming and salt. Method:A total of 83 batches samples were collected in the market, including 41 batches of prepared Morindae Officinalis Radix,32 batches of Morindae Officinalis Radix processed with steaming and 10 batches of Morindae Officinalis Radix processed with salt. The contents of main components were determined with high performance liquid chromatography coupled with four-pole tandem time-of-flight mass spectrometry(UPLC-Q-TOF-MS),and the differences were analyzed. Result:The main components of prepared Morindae Officinalis Radix and Morindae Officinalis Radix processed with salt were fructo-oligosaccharides (GFn),monotropein. The main components of Morindae Officinalis Radix processed with steaming were fructose, glucose, sucrose, and monotropein. The main differences of prepared Morindae Officinalis Radix and Morindae Officinalis Radix processed with steaming and salt were the contents of fructose, glucose, sucrose and GF2-GF11. The contents of GF2-GF11 in Morindae Officinalis Radix processed with steaming and salt were all lower than those in prepared Morindae Officinalis Radix, with extremely significant differences(P<0.01). The contents of fructose, glucose and sucrose in Morindae Officinalis Radix processed with steaming were significantly higher than those in prepared Morindae Officinalis Radix. The content of GF3 in each batch was higher than 40.0 mg·g-1 in prepared Morindae Officinalis Radix and Morindae Officinalis Radix processed with salt, and significantly higher than the limit in Chinese Pharmacopoeia. However, there were only a few batches of Morindae Officinalis Radix processed with steaming in line with the requirements of Chinese Pharmacopoeia. The contents of monotropein in processing Morindae Officinalis Radix and Morindae Officinalis Radix processed with steaming and salt were 42.6,39.8,32.3 mg·g-1,respectively. The content of monotropein in prepared Morindae Officinalis Radix was higher than that in Morindae Officinalis Radix processed with steaming. The content of monotropein in Morindae Officinalis Radix processed with steaming was higher than that in Morindae Officinalis Radix processed with salt. Compared with the components of GF2-GF11,the effect of processing with steaming process and/or salt on monotropein content was relatively less. Conclusion:The contents of GF2-GF11 components in prepared Morindae Officinalis Radix were converted into fructose, glucose and sucrose after processing with steaming and/or salt. The results showed that the content limit of Morindae Officinalis Radix processed with steaming needs to be revised in line with the requirements of Chinese Pharmacopoeia for the quality control of Morindae Officinalis Radix. The results provide a reference basis for revising the quality standards and studying the pharmacodynamic material basis of prepared Morindae Officinalis Radix,Morindae Officinalis Radix processed with steaming and salt.

RESUMO

Objective:To investigate the effect of Banxia Xiexintang on the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of human peritoneal mesothelial cell line (HMrSV5) induced by gastric cancer-derived exosomes (Exo). Method:Banxia Xiexintang-containing serum was prepared and the human gastric cancer NCI-N87-derived exosomes (NCI-N87-Exo) were extracted, followed by their identification by transmission electron microscopy and Western blotting and labeling with 1,1-dioctadecyl-3,3,3,3- tetramethylindocarbocyanine perchlorate (Dil). The cells were divided into the blank group, model group, and low-, medium-, and high-dose (13.5,27,54 g·kg-1) Banxia Xiexintang groups. HMrSV5 cells in the blank group were cultured alone, the ones in the model group with 100 mg·L-1 NCI-N87-Exo, and those in the low-, medium-, and high-dose Banxia Xiexintang groups with 100 mg·L-1 NCI-N87-Exo plus low-, medium-, and high-dose 10% Banxia Xiexintang-containing serum, respectively. Confocal laser microscope was used to observe the uptake of NCI-N87-Exo by HMrSV5 cells at 24 h, 48 h and 72 h. Seventy-two hours later, the morphological changes in HMrSV5 cells were observed. The protein expression levels of E-cadherin, cytokeratin 19 (CK19), α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), elastin, and transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1), Smad2/3, and p-Smad2/3 were assayed by Western blot. Result:It was observed under the transmission electron microscope that NCI-N87-Exo showed an oval or dish-shaped vesicle structure with a particle size ranging from 40 to 80 nm. Exo marker proteins CD9 and CD63 were highly expressed while calreticulin was not expressed, implying that the NCI-N87-Exo was confirmed. After 24 h, 48 h, 72 h of co-culture, it was observed under the fluorescence microscope that NCI-N87-Exo were taken up by HMrSV5 cells, which was positively correlated with time. Compared with the blank group, Banxia Xiexintang significantly inhibited the uptake of NCI-N87-Exo by HMrSV5 cells, with better effect noticed in the middle- and high-dose Banxia Xiexintang groups(P<0.05,P<0.01). After intervention with Banxia Xiexintang-containing serum, the HMrSV5 cells were arranged densely, and the intercellular space was significantly reduced, with the most obvious changes present in the high-dose Banxia Xiexintang group. Western blot revealed that the protein expression levels of E-cadherin and CK19 in HMrSV5 cells after being intervened with the medium- and high-dose Banxia Xiexintang-containing serum were increased significantly as compared with those in the blank group, whereas the levels of α-SMA and Elastin were decreased significantly (P<0.01). Banxia Xiexintang-containing serum at the low, medium, and high doses remarkably down-regulated TGF-β1 and p-Smad2/3 protein expression(P<0.05,P<0.01). However, there was no significant change in Smad2/3. Conclusion:NCI-N87-Exo can be taken up by HMrSV5 cells to induce EMT. Banxia Xiexintang can inhibit the uptake of NCI-N87-Exo by HMrSV5 cells and the resulting EMT induced by NCI-N87-Exo, which is related to the regulation of TGF-β1/Smads signaling pathway.
