RESUMO

TB in India is extremely common especially in young and adults as compare to other age groups. It is more common in the female population in India where women remain poor and neglected. We present the case of a 35-year-old male who presented with a thyroid lump. On examination, there was a solitary, non-tender, and firm swelling on the left midline neck with no evidence of lymphadenopathy. Ultrasound of thyroid revealed multinodular goiter with the largest nodule (3.5 × 2 cm) in the right lobe of the thyroid. Ultrasound-guided FNAC revealed follicular cells on a background of lymphocytes making a diagnosis of thyroiditis and underwent hemithyroidectomy for the same

RESUMO

Renal cell carcinomas(RCC) are the most common solid lesions of kidney with commonest subtype being clear cell type. Very few studies have reported synchronous presentation of three different morphological variants of RCC. We present a case of renal cell carcinoma in a 50 year old female presenting with renal mass. Microscopic examination showed presence of papillary, clear cell and collecting duct types of morphologies, which is a rare finding. Hence thorough sectioning and microscopic examination should be done to rule out possibility of simultaneous presence of different morphological varieties of RCC.

RESUMO

Rhabdomyosarcoma is one of most frequent soft tissue sarcoma of skeletal muscle origin. It occurs predominantly in Head& Neck, Genitourinary tract and extremities. The majority of cases of rhabdomyosarcoma in the genitourinary tract occurs in the bladder and paratesticular organs Primary intratesticular Rhabdomyosarcoma is very rare, have aggressive growth pattern. A 15 years old male presented with painless right testicular swelling who underwent high inguinal orchidectomy and left testis appeared normal. Complete blood count , Serum alpha- fetoprotein (1ng/ml) and Beta Human chorionic gonadotropin(<2.39) are with in normal limits.X- ray{chest}reveals multiple variable sized nodules in bilateral lungs with right hilar lymphadenopathy.?Metastasis.HR-USG (scrotum) reveals ill-defined lobulated , heterogeneously hypoechoic, soft tissue mass with increased internal vascularity in the right scrotal region with multiple enlarged lymphnodes suggestive of neoplastic etiology. On histopathology diagnosis of rhabdomyosarcoma –Right testis was made., have aggressive growth pattern. The optimal management of paratesticular rhabdomyosarcoma remains unclear because of the rarity of the disease in adults.Radical orchidectomy with negative surgical margins followed by RPLND and chemotherapy is the recommended treatment. For the control of local recurrence and metastasis radiotherapy is recommended. The purpose of this article is to report a case of 15 years old male with primary intratesticular rhabdomyasarcoma which is very rare and our best knowledge few cases have been reported in the literature till now.

RESUMO

Oral cancer is one of the leading cause of cancer in India, new diagnostic modalities for early diagnosis and treatment will increase the survival of the patients. The present study was carried out with an aim to evaluate salivary levels of EGFR in oral cancer and pre-cancer as tumor marker. For this purpose an observational case-control study was carried out in which a total of 72 subjects were enrolled.Of these 24 (33.3%) were patients of premalignant oral lesions and 24 (33.3%) were patients of malignant oral lesions& 24 (33.3%) subjects were normal healthy controls. Demographic information and clinical data was obtained, estimation for EGFR was performed in saliva. In premalignant cases, buccal mucosa was the most common site involved (87.50%) whereas in malignant cases tongue was the most common site involved (n=10;41.67%). Mean salivary EGFR levels were higher in malignant cases (0.23±0.17 pg/ml) and low in controls (0.10±0.19 pg/ml). Mean EGFR levels in premalignant cases were 0.12±0.22 pg/ml. statistically, this difference was not significant (p=0.052). Statistically, no significant difference in mean EGFR levels among different TNM stages could be seen (p=0.145). EGFR levels showed a potential to discriminate between malignant and premalignanat cases but this difference was statistical insignificant due to lower sample size.

RESUMO

One of the most recent methods to determine the proliferative activity is silver stained nucleolar organizer region(AgNORs).The purpose of present study is by using mean AgNOR count per nucleus was found to be higher in benign soft tissue tumour as compared to apparently normal soft tissue and found to be statistically significant. An increase AgNOR score in benign, intermediate, malignant soft tissue tumour as compared to apparently normal soft tissue tumour. After histological confirmation, one more section was prepared which was subjected to AgNOR staining. Study was done in taking 32 benign, 05 intermediate and 23 malignant soft tissue. Benign soft tissue neoplasm which comprised 32 cases showed a range of mean AgNORs count 2.2-3.20 and intermediate group showed 3.10-4.61 and malignant group 4.90-6.70, so on comparing benign, intermediate and malignant group p value is found to be <0.0001. Hence results are statistically significant.

RESUMO

Primary orbital lymphoma is an extremely rare entity; most of the reported cases being MALT lymphoma. Herein we report a case of extranodal primary diffuse large B cell lymphoma in a 17 years old boy who presented with proptosis. The patient responded well to chemotherapy; presently he is in remission with no residual disease.

RESUMO

A case of massive ovarian edema and polycystic ovaries in a 15 years old girl is being reported for its rarity. Definitive preoperative diagnosis is often not achieved and there by the patient is at a risk of losing the ovary(ies). Thus a definitive preoperative diagnosis should be ascertained to save the organ. A review on the previously reported cases with probable etiopathogenesis and emphasis on the radiological and morphological diagnosis for appropriate management has been discussed.
