RESUMO

OBJECTIVES@#To study the characteristics of the relationship between injury and disease in forensic identification cases of cervical trauma with cervical vertebra degeneration, and to explore the problems about how to identify the participation rates of injury and disease using the clinical information, forensic examination and imaging examination.@*METHODS@#Seventeen forensic identification cases of cervical trauma with cervical vertebra degeneration were collected. The age distributions, injury formations, injury severities and imaging findings of these cases were analyzed and the relationship between injury and disease was evaluated comprehensively.@*RESULTS@#Middle-aged and elderly were common in 17 cases and every case was involved with intervertebral disc herniation. The main reasons of injuries were hyperextension. The degree of injury severity and vertebra degeneration were graded according to the imaging findings. The participation rates of injury and disease were also calculated comprehensively.@*CONCLUSIONS@#The forensic identification cases of cervical trauma with cervical vertebra degeneration should be evaluated with clinical information, forensic examination and imaging finding.

BACKGROUND:The patients undergoing lumbar discectomy have a higher risk of recurrence. There are many different ways of reoperation, but there are few studies on spine-pelvis sagittal morphology of patients with recurrent lumbar disc herniation. OBJECTIVE:To compare the effect of discectomy and posterior lumbar interbody fusion on spine-pelvis sagittal morphology of patients with recurrent lumbar disc herniation. METHODS:Sixty-one patients of recurrent lumbar disc herniation after discectomy were divided into discectomy group (n=30) and posterior lumbar interbody fusion group (n=31) according to the re-repair method. The height of intervertebral disc, lumbar lordosis and pelvic projection angle in the two groups before and after treatment were measured and compared based on standing spine lateral X-ray images. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: After treatment, the height of intervertebral disc, lumbar lordosis and pelvic projection angle of patients in discectomy group were not significantly changed compared with before treatment (P> 0.05). After treatment, the height of intervertebral disc, lumbar lordosis and pelvic projection angle of patients in posterior lumbar interbody fusion group were significantly increased compared with those before treatment (P 0.05).After treatment, the height of intervertebral disc, lumbar lordosis and pelvic pelvic projection angle were significantly increased in the posterior lumbar interbody fusion group compared with the discectomy group (P < 0.05). These results demonstrate that discectomy cannot significantly change the spine-pelvis sagittal morphology of patients subjected to re-operation, but compared with the discectomy treatment, posterior lumbar interbody fusion has a greater impact on spine-pelvis sagittal morphology of patients subjected to re-operation.

@#Objective To apply the Intelligent Device for Energy Expenditure and Activity(IDEEA)system to evaluate the locomotion of patients with protrusion of intervertebral disc(PID)quantitatively and dynamically.Methods 8 patients with PID and 9 volunteers as controls performed a series of daily activities in their nature environment.They were monitored with IDEEA.Results The velocity of flexion forward,time flexion forward,time stand up,time sit down of the patients were significant different to the controls(P<0.05),and the walking speed of the former was slower(P<0.05)than the latter's.Conclusion Physical performance of the PID patients was significantly reduced.The IDEEA can be a good tool to evaluate their ability of locomotion in their daily living.
