@#Chondroitin sulfate is an important component of extracellular matrix (ECM) in animal and human body. In recent years, chondroitin sulfate has been proven to have potential efficacy in biomedical application and has been widely used in bone regeneration and osteogenesis, especially in craniofacial reconstruction and dental medicine. Research shows that chondroitin sulfate derivatives and chondroitin sulfate composite scaffolds have great potential in promoting osteogenesis and biomineralization. However, due to the variety of chondroitin sulfate and various application forms, study on its mechanism of osteogenic repair is still insufficient. In this paper, biological characteristics, bone regeneration and osteogenesis of chondroitin sulfate, its application in different biomaterial design and future prospect are discussed.

Objective:To explore the efficacy of flow diversion combined with coil embolization in treatment of intracranial aneurysms. Methods:The clinical data of 110 patients with intracranial aneurysms treated by flow diversion in our hospital from April 2015 to September 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. In these patients, 48 were treated by flow diversion combined with coil embolization and 62 were treated by flow diversion alone; the efficacy and safety of patients from the two groups were compared. Results:Blood flow diversion was successfully implanted into all 110 patients, with technical success rate of 100%. Immediate complete occlusion rate in the flow diversion combined with coil embolization group (16.7%) was significantly higher than that in the flow diversion group (1.6%, P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of perioperative complications between flow diversion combined with coil embolization group and flow diversion group (4.17% vs. 4.84%, P>0.05). During the mean follow-up of 6.72±3.80 months, modified Rankin scale (mRS) scores of patients in the flow diversion combined with coil embolization group were all 0; one patient had mRS score of 1, one patients had mRS scores of 2, and 60 patients had mRS score of 0 in patients from the flow diversion group; no significant difference was noted between the two groups ( P>0.05). Patients in the flow diversion combined with coil embolization group had significantly higher rate of complete aneurysm occlusion than those in the flow diversion group (88.3% vs. 66.1%, P<0.05). Conclusions:Flow diversion is an effective and safe strategy in treatment of intracranial aneurysms. Flow diversion combined with coil embolization can effectively promote early healing of aneurysms in selective patients.

Twelve ASA Ⅳ or Ⅴ patients with severe airway stenosis, aged 34-87 yr, weighing 50-80 kg,were enrolled in the study. The guidewire and endotracheal tube were inserted through the oral cavity under the guidance of the method of interventional radiology. The expandor was then exchanged and the endotracheal tube was placed in the suitable position within the trachea along the expandor under X-ray guidance. Endotracheal intubation was technically successful in all patients, without serious complications in the process. The intubation time was 1-5 min.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the methods used to diagnose and surgically treat ruptured aneurysm in sinus of Valsalva (RASV).

METHODSThirty-seven hospitalized patients with ruptured aneurysms in the sinus of Valsalva from September 1981 to April 2001, including 21 cases (56.7%) of RASV associated with ventricular septal defects (VSD) and 11 (29.7%) with aortic valvular prolapse were given surgical interventions. Under hypothermia and extracorporeal circulation, we successfully performed the surgical correction of RASV for all 37 patients VSD repair in 21 patients, aortic valvuloplasty in 6 and aortic valvular replacement in 2.

RESULTSThere was no hospital deaths among these patients, although residual shunting occurred in two patients and acute renal failure was found one. Follow-up study of one month to 20 years in the patients undergoing repair of RASV revealed that the mostly individuals treated with operation obtained satisfactory cardiac function.

CONCLUSIONCorrect diagnosis of ruptured aneurysm in sinus of Valsalva should be confirmed immediately and surgical correction should be carried out as soon as possible.
