Objective Objective To explore the characteristics and determinants of natural chan-ges in CD4+lymphocyte counts among HIV -infected patients without previous antiviral therapy in two dis-tricts of Shanghai . [ Methods] A retrospective study was conducted on HIV -infected patients reported from 1987 through May 2013 in two districts of Shanghai , who had received at least twice CD 4+lymphocyte counting tests before antiretroviral treatment ( ART) .The characteristics of natural changes in CD 4+lympho-cyte count and the determinants of significant decrease in count were described . [ Results] A total of 365 patients were included in the study .The monthly rate of CD 4+lymphocyte count changes between the first and the last counting tests had a median of -4.4 (IQR:-11.1~0.2).Among them 263(72.1%) showed remarkable decrease in CD 4+lymphocyte counts and 143 ( 39 .2%) presented a significant decrease (≥30%).Multiple logistic regression analysis indicated that the age , the first CD4+lymphocyte counts and the interval between the first and the last counting tests were significantly associated with the significant de -crease of CD4+lymphocyte counts among HIV-infected patients. [Conclusion] Natural changes of CD4+lymphocyte counts were gentle as a whole among untreated patients infected with HIV in central districts of Shanghai and rapid decrease in CD 4+lymphocyte counts among some HIV -infected patients was associated with many factors .It is held that CD 4+lymphocyte count and its changing rate should be regularly monitored so as to estimate the progress of the disease and perform targeted behavior intervention and clinic intervention .

Objective To observe the neurological recovery and endogenous neural stem cell proliferation in rats with spinal cord injury after acupuncture on Governing Vessel and Jiaji (Ex-B2) acupoints. Methods Forty-eight adult SD rats with severe spinal cord injury at the T10 level induced with the method of Allen were randomly divided into two groups (A and B), and each was further randomized into 4 subgroups. In group A, acupuncture was performed once daily on the Governing Vessel and Jiaji (Ex-B2) points, which was not performed in group B. Bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) was administered intraperitoneally twice daily 3 days prior to heart perfusion for labeling the proliferating endogenous neural stem cells. Open field and inclined plane tests were performed to test the function of the rear limbs of the rats at 1, 14, 30, 60, 90 days after the surgery. The 4 subgroups of rats were sacrificed on days 14, 30, 60 and 90 after the surgery, and the number of BrdU-positive cells and their distribution in the spinal cord was observed in each subgroup using immunohistochemistry with anti-BrdU. Results The rats in group A showed significantly improved neurological function than those in group B (P<0.05). The number of BrdU-positive cells in group A was significantly different from that in group B at each of the time points (P<0.05). Conclusion Acupuncture on the Governing Vessel and Jiaji (Ex-B2) acupoints can promote the functional recovery of the rear limbs and induce the proliferation of endogenous neural stem ceils in situ in rats following spinal cord injury.

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the reconstructive effect of the dissociate bone flap to repair the macrosis depressed skull fracture on the frontal and orbit part.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>The coronal scalp flap was elevated and dissociate bone flap was expanding to the 2cm width beside the edge of depressed skull fracture. The first step was to extract the dissociate bone flap and make there is an area for operating . Then extract free bone fragments, and elevate the depressed orbital lamina and use the biological glue to stick it to its position. The free fragments extracted were stacked into a whole one and it to its position in use of the biological glue on the dissociate bone flap. The uneven inner table should was smoother with bon-wax. The prosthetic dissociate bone flap was put back on its position and fixation.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>From January 2000 to December 2004, 17 cases of the macrosis depressed skull fracture on the frontal and orbit part undertaken plastic surgery by the dissociate bone flap to treat the macrosis depressed skull fracture and obtained excellent curative effect.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Using dissociate bone flap to treat the mocrosis depressed skull fracture on the frontal and orbit part can avoid the complication of the traditional operation, and make the method become a plastic surgical operation.</p>

Objective To investigate the influence of acupuncture on Nestin expression in the cerebral cor- tex of hypoxia-ischemic neonatal rats.Methods A total of 72 Sprague-Dawley(SD)rats aged 7 days were random- ly divided into three groups:A normal group(n=24),the hypoxic-ischemic encepbalopathy(HIE)group(n=24), and an acupuncture+HIE group(n=24).The rats were sacrificed at time points including 3d,7d,14d and 28d af- ter insult,their brains were removed and sections were made.Any nerve stem cells(NSCs)in the cerebral cortex were detected using immunohistochemical staining of Nestin.Results Nestin-positive cells were found in the cere- bral cortex in the normal neonatal SD rats early after birth.After HI insult,the Nestin-positive cells had increased in the injured areas of the cortex and in contralateral mirror areas,especially around the injured areas.Peak Nestin ex- pression was 3 days after insult.In the acupuncture+HIE group,Nestin positive cells were significantly increased when compared with that in the HIE group,the peak was postponed,and the peak was longer than in the HIE group. The Nestin positive cells decreased,were seldom seen,and were not different among three groups 28 days after the HI insult.Conclusions Endogenous neural stem cells in the cerebral cortex were increased by acupuncture in hy- poxia-ischemic in neonatal rats,and acupuncture made the peak of Nestin expression longer.
