Objective:To explore the effect of different injection schemes on improving lower eyelid rejuvenation and avoiding complications such as ecchymosis around the orbit. Methods:From September 2021 to June 2022, 86 patients who underwent lower eyelid rejuvenation at the Plastic Surgery Department of Nanjing Medical University Friendship Hospital and Taizhou Medical Cosmetic Clinic of Nanjing Medical University Friendship Plastic Surgery Hospital were included in this study. There were 2 males and 84 females, aged 20-58 (34.27±7.27) years. The patients were divided into two groups: the Cannula Group (68 cases) received appropriate injections under the deep layer of muscle fat pad and superficial layer of subcutaneous tissue using a 25 G cannula at two entry points on the lateral orbital zygomatic groove and the extension line of tear trough buccal groove; the Needle Group (18 cases) received injections directly perpendicular to the skin top to the orbital arch border of the corresponding area of tear trough and eyelid commissure fossa and superficial layer of subcutaneous fat using a 30G needle. The therapeutic effects and complications such as periorbital ecchymosis and swelling were observed in both groups. Results:In the Cannula Group, all 68 patients showed significant improvement in tear trough groove and eyelid commissure groove, achieving eyelid rejuvenation. Four patients developed spotty ecchymosis, and one patient was dissatisfied with the treatment outcome. The other patients were satisfied with the results. In the Needle Group, all 18 patients showed improvement in tear trough groove and eyelid commissure groove, with 6 patients developing ecchymosis. Two patients with large range of ecchymosis expressed dissatisfaction, while the rest were satisfied with the treatment outcome. Conclusions:Tear trough groove depression and eyelid commissure groove depression have been improved to varying degrees in both the Cannula Group and the Needle Group, achieving periorbital rejuvenation. However, the Cannula Group has a lower probability of complications such as ecchymosis compared to the Needle Group in lower eyelid rejuvenation treatment.

BACKGROUND:Our previous experimental results have shown that hyaluronic acid hydrogel can act as a vehicle for bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell delivery to improve the cardiac function of rats with myocardial infarction. OBJECTIVE:To explore the molecular mechanism of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and hyaluronic acid hydrogel in promoting damaged heart repair. METHODS:Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells from male Sprague-Dawley rats were isolated and cultured, and then hyaluronic acid-encapsulated bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells were cultured in vitro in a three-dimensional manner.A model of myocardial infarction was made by ligating the left anterior descending artery of female Sprague-Dawley rats. After 1 week, the model rats were screened by ultrasonic testing and then eligible ones were randomly divided into four groups:PBS group(n=12),hyaluronic acid group(n=12),bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell group(n=15),and hyaluronic acid-encapsulated bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell group(n=15).At 1 week after ligation, the model rats underwent the secondary thoracotomy followed by corresponding injections into the infarcted region and its marginal zone. The expression levels of matrix metalloproteinase-2,vascular endothelial growth factor, thymosin β4 and c-Kit were examined at post-injection day 1,week 1 and week 2 by western blot assay. At post-injection week 2,immunofluorescence staining was used to detect the differentiation of transplanted cells. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1)The expression levels of matrix metalloproteinase-2 and vascular endothelial growth factor protein in the infarct zone in the bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell group were significantly up-regulated at week 1 compared with the other three groups(P<0.05).At week 2,the hyaluronic acid group had a lower expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2 and vascular endothelial growth factor protein than the other three groups(P<0.05).However,the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2 and vascular endothelial growth factor protein in the hyaluronic acid+bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell group was not significantly different compared with the bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell group. This was primarily attributable to a prolonged paracrine effect via the controlled release of the hyaluronic acid hydrogel. This prolonged paracrine effect offsets the inhibitory effect induced by hyaluronic acid hydrogel at 2 weeks.(2)Compared with the PBS group, thymosin β4 and c-Kit expression levels in the hyaluronic acid group, bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell group and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell+hyaluronic acid group were significantly increased(P<0.05).(3)No differentiation of transplanted cells into cardiomyocytes or blood vessels was detected 2 weeks after transplantation.(4)It is indicated that transplanted bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells promote myocardial repair through the paracrine effect, and hyaluronic acid hydrogel prolongs the paracrine effect of transplanted bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells.

BACKGROUND:The structure, physical and chemical properties(such as rheological properties)and biological activity of hyaluronic acid with different molecular weights are quite different. When the degradation degree of non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid is too large and the high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid is degraded to low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid, the properties and biological functions of the product will also change, which will affect the use of the product. OBJECTIVE:To review the mechanism of molecular weight degradation of non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid and the impacts of molecular weight degradation on the structure, rheological properties, biological activity and applications of non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid. METHODS:The first author searched the articles related to the molecular weight of hyaluronic acid collected in PubMed,CNKI database and other databases. The high-quality articles with high correlation were screened according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The search time was from January 2017 to December 2022.The Chinese and English search terms were"hyaluronic acid,non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid, molecular weight, degradation, structure, rheological properties, biologic activity".Finally,47 articles were included for review and analysis. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1)The molecular weight of non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid is mainly degraded by specific enzymatic hydrolysis and non-specific free radical degradation.(2)The molecular weight degradation of non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid will change its structure and rheological properties, resulting in the untie of polymer network structure, the decrease of rheological properties such as viscosity and viscoelasticity, and the decrease of mechanical properties, which will eventually affect the practical application effect of the product.(3)The biological activity of non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid is molecular weight dependent, and the biological activity of different molecular weight hyaluronic acid is different.Even the same receptor combined with high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid and low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid will express completely opposite biological effects.(4)The degradation of molecular weights of non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid will reduce the safety and efficacy of the products, affect their service life and application performance, and ultimately influence the clinical application results.(5)Non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid has great potential as a biodegradable biomaterial in wound healing, tissue engineering, aesthetic medicine and other fields, and further research and understanding of the correlation between molecular weight degradation of non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid and bioactivity is a prerequisite for better development of wound dressings, drug delivery systems and tissue-engineered scaffolds.(6)However,there are currently few studies on the molecular weight degradation of non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid, and it is unclear how to effectively avoid the potential risks associated with the molecular weight degradation of non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid in clinical applications.(7)Therefore,a series of potential risks associated with the molecular weight degradation of non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid during its application, including the effects on its structure, properties and biological activity, and the resulting changes on the body,is one of the future directions that need to be closely investigated.

BACKGROUND:As tissue engineering brings new hope to the worldwide problem of articular cartilage repair, the construction of light-curing 3D printed hydrogel scaffolds with biomimetic composition is of great significance for cartilage tissue engineering. OBJECTIVE:To construct a biomimetic methacryloylated hyaluronic acid/acellular Wharton's jelly composite hydrogel scaffold by digital light processing 3D printing technology, and to evaluate its biocompatibility. METHODS:Wharton's jelly was isolated and extracted from human umbilical cord, then decellulated,freeze-dried,ground into powder, and dissolved in PBS to prepare 50 g/L acellular Wharton's jelly solution.Methylallylated hyaluronic acid was prepared, lyophilized and dissolved in PBS to prepare 50 g/L methylallylated hyaluronic acid solution.Acellular Wharton's jelly solution was mixed with methacrylyacylated hyaluronic acid solution at a volume ratio of 1:1,and was used as bio-ink after adding photoinitiator.Methylacrylylated hyaluronic acid hydrogel scaffolds(labeled as HAMA hydrogel scaffolds)and methylacrylylated hyaluronic acid/acellular Wharton's jelly gel scaffolds(labeled as HAMA/WJ hydrogel scaffolds)were prepared by digital light processing 3D printing technology, and the microstructure, swelling performance, biocompatibility, and cartilage differentiation performance of the scaffolds were characterized. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1)Under scanning electron microscope, the two groups of scaffolds showed a three-dimensional network structure, and the fiber connection of HAMA/WJ hydrogel scaffold was more uniform. Both groups achieved swelling equilibrium within 10 hours, and the equilibrium swelling ratio of HAMA/WJ hydrogel scaffold was lower than that of HAMA hydrogel scaffold(P<0.05).(2)CCK-8 assay showed that HAMA/WJ hydrogel scaffold could promote the proliferation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells compared with HAMA hydrogel scaffold.Dead/live staining showed that bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells grew well on the two groups of scaffolds, and the cells on the HAMA/WJ hydrogel scaffolds were evenly distributed and more cells were found.Phalloidine staining showed better adhesion and spread of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells in HAMA/WJ hydrogel scaffold than in HAMA.(3)Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells were inoculated into the two groups for chondrogenic induction culture. The results of qRT-PCR showed that the mRNA expressions of agglutinoglycan,SOX9 and type Ⅱ collagen in the HAMA/WJ hydrogel scaffold group were higher than those in the HAMA hydrogel scaffold group(P<0.05,P<0.01).(4)These findings indicate that the digital light processing 3D bioprinting HAMA/WJ hydrogel scaffold can promote the proliferation, adhesion, and chondrogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells.

BACKGROUND:Acupotomy is an effective method for the clinical treatment of osteoarthritis, with affirmed clinical outcomes, but the specific mechanisms remain unclear OBJECTIVE:To investigate the role of acupotomy in modulating chondrocyte autophagy to promote chondrocyte homeostasis in osteoarthritis. METHODS:Twenty-eight New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into control group, osteoarthritis group, acupotomy group, and hyaluronic acid group, with seven rabbits in each group. The knee osteoarthritis rabbit model was prepared using the Videman method in the latter three groups. After modeling, the control group and osteoarthritis group received no interventions. The acupotomy group received acupotomy treatment 15 minutes per time, once a week, while the hyaluronic acid group received intra-articular injection of hyaluronic acid once a week, with a continuous treatment duration of 5 weeks. The day after the final intervention, knee joint macrostructure was observed using DR imaging, chondrocyte ultrastructure was examined through transmission electron microscopy, apoptosis of chondrocytes was assessed using Tunel staining, and western blot analysis was used to detect the expression of proteins related to the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The DR imaging results revealed that the osteoarthritis group exhibited narrowed knee joint spaces and the formation of periarticular osteophytes, while the hyaluronic acid group and acupotomy group showed widened knee joint spaces with a reduction in periarticular osteophytes.Transmission electron microscopy results demonstrated a decreased number of autophagosomes in chondrocytes in the osteoarthritis group, along with nuclear shrinkage, nuclear membrane rupture, incomplete organelle morphology, and a clear tendency towards cell death. In contrast, both the hyaluronic acid group and acupotomy group exhibited a significant increase in autophagosomes, intact nuclear membranes, and a well-preserved cellular state.Tunel staining results indicated a considerable decrease in the number of apoptotic cells in the hyaluronic acid group and acupotomy group compared with the osteoarthritis group.Western blot results revealed that, compared with the control group, the expression levels of Beclin1,Cath D,and LC3II/LC3I were significantly decreased in the osteoarthritis group(P<0.05),while the expression levels of p-Akt/Akt and p-mTOR/mTOR were significantly increased(P<0.05);compared with the osteoarthritis group, the expression levels of Beclin1,Cath D,and LC3II/LC3I were significantly increased in both the hyaluronic acid group and acupotomy group(P<0.05),while the expression levels of p-Akt/Akt and p-mTOR/mTOR were significantly decreased(P<0.05).To conclude, acupotomy intervention can modulate the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway to enhance the autophagic level in chondrocytes, thereby maintaining chondrocyte homeostasis. This ultimately leads to a slowdown in cartilage degeneration.

Abstract Objective This study aims to develop a compound biomaterial to achieve effective soft tissue regeneration. Methodology Compound hyaluronic acid (CHA) and liquid horizontal-platelet-rich fibrin (H-PRF) were mixed at a ratio of 1:1 to form a CHA-PRF gel. Human gingival fibroblasts (HGFs) were used in this study. The effect of CHA, H-PRF, and the CHA-PRF gel on cell viability was evaluated by CCK-8 assays. Then, the effect of CHA, H-PRF, and the CHA-PRF gel on collagen formation and deposition was evaluated by qRT‒PCR and immunofluorescence analysis. Finally, qRT‒PCR, immunofluorescence analysis, Transwell assays, and scratch wound-healing assays were performed to determine how CHA, H-PRF, and the CHA-PRF gel affect the migration of HGFs. Results The combination of CHA and H-PRF shortened the coagulation time of liquid H-PRF. Compared to the pure CHA and H-PRF group, the CHA-PRF group exhibited the highest cell proliferation at all time points, as shown by the CCK-8 assay. Col1a and FAK were expressed at the highest levels in the CHA-PRF group, as shown by qRT‒PCR. CHA and PRF could stimulate collagen formation and HGF migration, as observed by fluorescence microscopy analysis of COL1 and F-actin and Transwell and scratch healing assays. Conclusion The CHA-PRF group exhibited greater potential to promote soft tissue regeneration by inducing cell proliferation, collagen synthesis, and migration in HGFs than the pure CHA or H-PRF group. CHA-PRF can serve as a great candidate for use alone or in combination with autografts in periodontal or peri-implant soft tissue regeneration.

ABSTRACT Purpose: Recently, hyaluronic acid (HA) was proposed as a promising option for the treatment of acquired lower eyelid cicatricial ectropion. However, this effect was not confirmed by quantitative assessments. This study aimed to assess the effect of hyaluronic acid on the treatment of acquired lower eyelid cicatricial ectropion. Methods: Eight patients with acquired lower eyelid cicatricial ectropion (13 eyelids) were treated with a single 1 mL injection of hyaluronic acid in the preseptal area of the lower eyelid. Evaluation of symptoms and biomicroscopic exam was performed before and 30 days after hyaluronic acid injection. Quantitative analysis of the lower eyelid position (with and without lid traction) was determined before and 30 days after hyaluronic acid injection through standard photographs analyzed using the ImageJ. Results: All patients experienced partial improvement of symptoms. The lower eyelid position was significantly lifted after hyaluronic acid injection with a significant reduction of medial and lateral angles, reduction of the margin reflex distance, and total and medial ocular fissure area. However, signs of lid margin inflammation and corneal punctate keratitis persisted. Conclusions: Hyaluronic acid injected in the pre-septal area of the lower eyelid improved acquired lower eyelid cicatricial ectropion symptoms and significantly lifted the position of the lower eyelid. Further studies, with a large number of participants and a long-term follow-up period, are needed to better determine the permanency of the effects of hyaluronic acid injections on the treatment of acquired lower eyelid cicatricial ectropion.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers are widely used in aesthetic treatments for facial and lip modeling. Despite HA fillers has largely known to be use in procedures for augmentation the lip volume, their application to management lip abnormalities is not widespread. This study reviewed the use of HA fillers for reconstruction of congenital and acquired li p asymmetries and deformities, searching to expand knowledge about this treatment modality. To undertake this narrative review, the Medline-Pubmed, Web of Science, Scopus, Embase, Google Schoolar e Lillacs databases were searched. Several studies have reported positive results in the use of HA fillers for the treatment of lip deformities caused by different factors such as: Insatisfactory dermal fillers, permanent lip implants, excision of lip carcinoma, post-operative scars and electrical burns. HA fillers are also an alternative for the management of lip asymmetries and residual surgical scars in patients with cleft lip. Moreover, injection of HA fillers in individuals with facial paralysis and facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy can also improve lip incompetence. Additionally, HA fillers can be used as a complementary treatment in cases of severe malocclusion associated with skeletal changes, helping to maintain the seal and refine the lip appearance. Therefore, HA fillers can be used as alternative treatment for several types of congenital and acquired lip deformities and asymmetries. However, it is necessary to carry out randomized clinical trials with a greater number of patients and follow-up time, in order to investigate the benefits of the HA fillers for carriers patients of lip abnormalities.

The compound hyaluronic acid (HA) used in the specialty of orofacial harmonization for the purpose of facial filling confers harmony in cases of poor aesthetics. The aim of this study was to find out whether there are any changes to the labial folds after the application of hyaluronic acid, by means of a medical record report and analysis of perioral photographs. The medical record selected was that of a female patient who underwent a lip filling procedure with infiltration of a total volume of 0.7 mL of hyaluronic acid commercial brand (Hialurox Soft® 8mg/mL São Carlos Brazil) and had complete photographic documentation prior to the procedure and 108 days after the procedure. A cheiloscopic comparison simulation was carried out, comparing the images with each other using the Paint Microsoft editing tool, lip prints were classified according to the method of Suzuki and Tsuchihashi (1971), and the data was recorded on the modified form of Stamm (2014). The technique used in this study did not significantly alter the pre-existing labial traces. However, the late postoperative period of 108 days was not enough for some of the furrows found in the pre-procedure phase to reappear

Paciente do sexo feminino, 37 anos, leucoderma, participou do estudo.

Cheiloscopy is a human identification technique that consists of studying the lips and their characteristics, such as their thickness, the arrangement of the labial commissure, the position of the grooves and their classifications, as well as recording the impressions produced by them on various supports. Lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers has become very popular in recent years, especially since facial harmonization was included as a dental specialty. The aim of this study was to verify whether lip fillers with HA have implications for cheiloscopic studies, by means of a clinical case report. A 37-year-old female patient with leukoderma took part in the study. Photographs were taken and measurements of lip thickness, lip commissure layout and lipstick impressions were taken before the lip filler, 15 days after the application of 1 ml of HA and 15 days after the full 2 ml of HA filler. The results of the study suggest that lip filling with HA can interfere with the cheiloscopic method, as there was a change in the architecture of the lips, the layout of the labial commissure, improved contour, cupid's bow and filter, with a significant change in the thickness of the upper and lower lips of approximately 42% in relation to the previous volume. As for the pattern of the lip furrows, there was no change in the designs, however, the quality of the lip impression was affected due to the effect produced by the HA

Introduction: Traditionally, lowering the dorsum is the only method of hump correction. Rare series point to raising the radix as a possible solution. What explains this massive predominance of the reduction procedure? Ineffectiveness of radix and tip augmentation methods? Big nose perception with augmentation procedures? Our objectives are to determine if the perception of reduction occurs in non-surgical rhinoplasty (NSR), performed exclusively with volume addition, and if the perception of reduction is important in NSR. Method: Retrospective analysis of 116 consecutive patients undergoing NSR. The patients' images were analyzed by 12 independent observers who evaluated the perceived changes in the nose's size and the correction's quality, giving scores from 1 to 10 for both questions. As for size, 1 represented much smaller than before, 5 same size (neutrality), and 10 much larger than before. The quality of correction was graded from 1 to 10. Results: 92 cases (79%) were considered size reduction, while 20 cases (17%) were considered enlargement. There was a perception of a reduction in the average size scores (4.71). The mean correction quality was 8.28 on a scale of 1 to 10. Furthermore, our results suggest that there may be an indirect correlation between perceived size and correction quality. Conclusion: The increase provided by the NSR can cause a perception of a reduction in the size of the nose, and the degree of perceived reduction can be directly related to the degree of perceived quality of the correction.

This study aimed to carry out a bibliometric survey of research carried out in dentistry in the area of orofacial harmonization, with emphasis on bichectomy, hyaluronic acid and botulinum toxin. The annals of the works presented at the Annual Meetings of the Brazilian Society for Dental Research (SBPqO) between the years 2017 to 2021 and all abstracts that had some of the searched keywords ("bichectomy", "hyaluronic acid" and "botulinum toxin") were evaluated. After the selection, information was collected from the abstracts and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. A total of 65 abstracts were included in this study, most of which related to research using botulinum toxin. The year 2021 was the one that presented the greatest production of studies on the subject and the Southeast region of Brazil was the one that produced the most about orofacial harmonization in the last five years. Most research was developed by private institutions and did not receive funding. Among the areas of dentistry, temporomandibular disorders, orofacial pain and periodontics appear with greater involvement with research using, mainly, botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid. It is concluded that research involving topics related to the harmonization area still represents a low number, however this number has grown in the last 5 years. More incentives are needed for research in this area for the North and Midwest regions, as well as greater funding.

The structural changes of the face resulting from aging can be delayed or treated with these aesthetic interventions, among which the application of hyaluronic acid can be chosen. There are aesthetic complaints from patients regarding aspects presented by the lips, involving their contour, projection and volume. The restoration of the lip contour can be obtained with lip filling through the application of hyaluronic acid. The objective of the present study was to show how the technique of lip filling with the use of hyaluronic acid can promote facial harmonization. A narrative review of the literature was carried out in the Google Scholar and LILACS bibliographic databases and a survey of studies and articles that dealt with the use of hyaluronic acid for lip filling in facial harmonization procedures. The lip filling technique is an aesthetic technique that proceeds through the use of hyaluronic acid to fill the lips, seeking remodeling and the resumption of the lost contour. Hyaluronic acid is a viable option to provide facial harmonization, in addition, this filler has biocompatibility characteristics. When performing the facial aesthetic technique using hyaluronic acid injections, local anesthesia is initially applied. In the portion of the lips, the lip filling is performed using needles or cannulas, which insert the material in the place, seeking to obtain an outcome with improvements in the contour, volume and projection of the lips. It was concluded that the use of hyaluronic acid to promote satisfactory facial aesthetics can achieve a favorable outcome and has clinical applicability in dentistry.

Abstract: Introduction: gonarthrosis is a degenerative disease, whose loss of cartilage causes changes in the adjacent bone and its response produces deformations and attempts at regeneration. In 1934 Meyer and Palmer isolated bovine vitreous humor, a polysaccharide called hyaluronic acid, which has the property of visco-elasticity. Today, multiple procedures performed in orthopedics are known, in order to limit the degenerative process that this entails. Objective: to know the use and efficacy of hyaluronic acid in the patient requiring knee arthroscopy, evaluating the evolution of the patient using the WOMAC scale; as well as the ideal time of application of hyaluronic acid in this study group. Material and methods: clinical, non-randomized, prospective, analytical trial. 48 patients from 45 to 60 years of age, divided into 3 groups with a diagnosis of gonarthrosis grade II-III, who underwent arthroscopy with subsequent hyaluronic acid application, were evaluated; in the postoperative period (group 1), one month after the postoperative period (group 2) and without application (group 3) in a period from September 2015 to June 2016 at the ISSSTE Hospital «Dr. Darío Fernández Fierro¼. Results: the treatment showed differences in patients regarding reduction of pain and stiffness; and improvement in functional capacity. Conclusion: despite, there are no conclusive results if the treatment is better than the other, certain data suggests that using hyaluronic acid in the postoperative improves rigidity and function, however, it was not statistically significant.

Objective:To compare the clinical efficacy and safety of intra-articular platelet rich plasma combined with hyaluronic acid and platelet rich plasma alone in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. Methods:The relevant literatures published between January 2010 and December 2021 on the randomized control study of intra-articular injection of platelet rich plasma and hyaluronic acid and injection of platelet rich plasma only in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis were searched. The bias risk of all the literatures included in the study was evaluated by Revman 5.3 software, and the data were processed and analyzed by Stata 16.0 software. The standardized mean difference ( SMD) was calculated for the difference of efficacy indexes, and the difference was compared by t- test. The odds ratio ( OR) was calculated for the difference of safety in-dex, and the difference was compared by t- test. Results:①A total of 7 relevant research literatures were in-cluded, all of which were in English. ②A total of 675 patients were included in the study, of which 330 patients were treated with intra-articular injection of platelet rich plasma and hyaluronic acid, and 345 patients were treated with intra-articular injection of platelet rich plasma only. ③The VAS scores of patients with platelet rich plasma and hyaluronic acid injection combined with injection and platelet rich plasma injection alone were compared. After 1 and 3 months of injection, the VAS scores of patients with platelet rich plasma combined with hyaluronic acid injection were compared with those of patients with platelet rich plasma injection only. There was no significant difference[ SMD(95% CI)=-0.02(-0.30, 0.27), t=-0.12, P=0.902; SMD(95% CI)=-0.40(-0.80, 0.00), t=-1.97, P=0.051]. After 6 months of injection, the VAS scores of patients with combined injection of platelet rich plasma and hyaluronic acid were significantly lower than those of patients with injection of platelet rich plasma only, and the difference was statistically significant [ SMD(95% CI)=-0.33 (-0.55, -0.11), t=-2.98, P=0.012]. ④The WOMAC scores of patients with combined injection of platelet rich plasma, hyaluronic acid and platelet rich plasma only were compared. After 12 months of treatment, the WOMAC scores of patients with combined injection of platelet rich plasma and hyaluronic acid were significantly higher than those of patients with PRP only, and the difference was statistically significant [ SMD(95% CI)=-0.30(-0.58, -0.03), t=-2.14, P=0.033]. ⑤The incidence of adverse events of platelet rich plasma combined with hyaluronic acid was lower than that of platelet rich plasma only [ OR(95% CI)=0.55(0.33, 0.93), P=0.021]. Conclusion:Compared with intra-articular injection of platelet rich plasma only, the short-term clinical efficacy of combined injection of platelet rich plasma and hyaluronic acid is equivalent to that of injection of platelet rich plasma only, but the long-term clinical efficacy is significantly better, and the safety of combined injection of platelet rich plasma and hyaluronic acid is significantly better.
