摘要

Introduction: Identification by comparison of dental records represents a scientifically consolidated methodology. The most common strategy lies in the comparison of printed or digitised odontograms, although certain subjectivity has been questioned when recording said information. Imaging resources constitute more reliable and objective evidence, reducing identification bias. Obtaining post-mortem (PM) radiographs reproducing the techniques that have generated the recovered ante-mortem (AM) images, provides an effective comparative modality, increasing its evidentiary value. Materials and Methods: A comparison was made between panoramic and periapical radiographs taken to 10 patients treated in a private office in the city of Quilmes, Province of Buenos Aires, where endodontic treatments were visualized. The records of both imaging techniques were carried out on the same subjects between 2010 and 2022. 11 periapical and 10 panoramic radiographs were collected, and the entire sample was digitized. The images of each person were classified according to the date they were obtained. The oldest ones were cataloged with the color green, representing the AM material, while the most recent ones were marked in red, constituting the PM information. Results: Taking into account the criteria stipulated by the American Board of Forensic Odontology (ABFO), 7 cases studied were positively identified, 2 were classified as possible identification, while 1 was classified as insufficient. No exclusions were recorded. Conclusion: Endodontic treatments could provide valuable information in human identification processes due to the low probability of suffering morphological and structural alterations due to their strategic intradental location, providing concrete possibilities of establishing the categorical identity of unknown subjects (AU)

摘要

Aim: The objective of this study was to characterize the publications on hospital dentistry available on websites and Instagram pages, in addition to evaluating the quality of the available content from the point of view of scientific evidence and the use of references. Methods: A cross-sectional and exploratory study was carried out. From the research of the search key "hospital dentistry", Instagram and Internet pages were located via Google. Results: On Instagram, 15 pages that met the inclusion criteria were located, and the last 5 publications were analyzed (n=75). For Google, content that corresponded to the bill was evaluated, among the first 25 search results, since these are the most relevant based on the algorithm's marking. It was noticed that the use of references is not frequent either in Instagram publications or in Internet content. This fact is so important that the results of this work demonstrate this urgency in changing the scenario of content published on the World Wide Web. Conclusion: In this sense, professors and the councils themselves can act as compasses, guiding the dissemination and consumption of content to students and health professionals. (AU)

摘要

The suspension of antiresorptive drugs in the context of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ) is controversial. Despite the lack of quality evidence, several professional associations and working groups have made suggestions in using this resource. Recently the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons has questioned its benefits. In the present study we address this issue in two different clinical situations. On the one hand, we analyzed the suspension of antiresorptive agents in asymptomatic patients before carrying out invasive procedures in the jaws to reduce the risk of developing MRONJ. On the other hand, we evaluated the suspension of antiresorptive drugs in patients actually presenting MRONJ to improve the prognosis of the disease (AU)

摘要

This research work aims to compare the inclination of the lower incisor before and after treatment in patients treated orthodontically with Roth techniques and Damon technique to which no exodontics were performed. The study group consisted of 150 adult patients with complete permanent dentition who have been treated in Circulo Argentino de Odontología. To measure the inclination the Tweed formula was used: IMPA angle, axial axis of the lower incisor with the mandibular plane. The values taken from the pre and post-treatment plots were subjected to a Student test paired using the Infostat v 2010 program. A significant difference was found in the axial inclination of the lower incisor post treatment whatever the technique used, it increases in both cases. No torques discrimination was performed (Roth - 1 °, Damon standard torque - 3 °, Damon under torque - 11 °) (AU)
