Higroma cístico cervical gigante em adulto: relato de caso / Giant cervical cystic hygroma in an adult patient: case report

RESUMO

Higroma cístico consiste em proliferação linfática benigna, freqüentemente vista na região cérvico-facial e diagnosticada nos primeiros dois anos de vida. Relata-se caso raro em paciente adulto, que apresentava tumefação cervical de 10cmx15crn de tamanho e 922g de peso. O higroma cístico resulta de desenvolvimento anormal do sistema linfático, cuja etiologia exata ainda é desconhecida. O diagnóstico se baseia no exame físico juntamente com radiografia simples de tórax, ressonância magnética, entre outros. O tratamento de escolha é a excisão cirúrgica da lesão por oferecer a melhor chance de cura.

ABSTRACT

Cystic hygroma is a result of a benign lymphatic proliferation, frequently seen o the cervicofacial region and diagnosed in the first two years of life. We report a rare case of an aldult patient who presented a 10x15cm cervical mass weighing 922g. The etiology of cystic hygroma is still unknown. The diagnosis is based on physical examination along with other exams such as x-ray and magnetic resonance imaging. Surgical excision is the best choice of treatment with the best chance of a complete cure.
