Qualidade de vida em pacientes reabilitados com próteses parciais removíveis: revisão de literatura / Quality of life in patients rehabilitated with removable partial dentures: literature review

RESUMO

A perda dentária ocasiona alterações fisiológicas, biológicas e emocionais interferindo na estética e nas funções mastigatórias, afetando a qualidade de vida das pessoas. Essa situação pode ser revertida através da reabilitação oral com próteses dentárias. Objetivo: Realizar uma revisão de literatura sobre o impacto da reabilitação com próteses parciais removíveis (PPRs) na qualidade de vida de pacientes edêntulos parciais. Materias e Métodos: Foi realizada uma busca eletrônica, aplicando critérios de inclusão e exclusão nas bases de dados PubMed / MEDLINE e Scielo, no período de 2012 a 2017. Resultados: A busca na literatura obteve 72 artigos sendo que após a aplicação dos critérios de inclusão e exclusão foram selecionados 12 artigos para a revisão de literatura. Sete estudos relataram uma melhora na qualidade de vida associada com a reabilitação protética, três estudos relataram que a associação da prótese com o implante favorece a satisfação e melhora as funções mastigatórias e dois relataram melhores qualidade de vida sem o uso da prótese parcial removível. Conclusão: A reabilitação protética com PPRs auxiliam a melhorar a qualidade de vida dos pacientes devolvendo a estética e a função mastigatória(AU)

ABSTRACT

The loss of teeth causes physiological, biological and emotional alterations interfering in aesthetics and masticatory function, affecting patient's quality of life. This situation can be reversed through oral rehabilitation with dental prostheses. Purpose: To perform a review of literature regarding the impact of removable partial denture rehabilitation on the quality of life of partially edentulous individuals. Materials and Methods: An electronic search was performed, applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria on the PubMed/MEDLINE and Scielo databases from 2012 up to 2017. Results: The initial screening yield 72 articles, from which 12were selected for a review after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Seven studies reported an improvement in quality of life associated with prosthetic rehabilitation, three studies reported that the association of the prostheses with the implant improved the satisfaction and masticatory function and two reported better quality of life without the use of the removable partial denture. Conclusion: Prosthetic rehabilitation with removable partial denture helps to improve patients' quality of life by restoring aesthetics and masticatory function(AU)
