The lobeira fruit (Solanum lycocarpum, St. Hil), family Solanaceae, is a globous berry which has been reported to possess sedative, diuretic, antiepileptic and antispasmodic activity. Its powder is being used as a hypoglycemic agent in Caratinga (MG). The evaluation of the lobeira toxic potential in female rats during the organogenic period showed alteration in the development of male fetuses.
