RESUMEN

Este trabajo aborda un aspecto de los estudios antropométricos que el doctor Daniel Vergara Lope realizó en el marco de su investigación en la medicina de altura. Su obra en la antropología física no ha sido justamente valorada en nuestro país, se ignoran sus ideas y métodos innovadores, así como los aparatos producto de su creatividad. Vergara Lope pensaba que era necesario abandonar las mediciones extranjeras y evaluar el cuerpo mexicano con estudios nacionales.

ABSTRACT

This paper analyzes one aspect of anthropometric studies included in Daniel Vergara Lope's research on high-altitude medicine. Vergara Lope's work in physical anthropology has gone lagely unrecognized in Mexico, where his ideas and innovative methods have been ignored, as have the apparatus produced by his creativity. Vergara Lope argued that measurements of foreign populations should be abandoned and that the Mexican body be measured in national studies.
