RESUMEN
Describir el tipo de exposición de la varicela en niños hospitalizados en institución de referencia pediátrica en un país sin implementación de la vacunación contra la varicela. Diseño:
Serie de casos, se estudiaron las hospitalizaciones por varicela que fueron atendidos en el Instituto Nacional de Salud del Niño, se identificaron a los pacientes de la oficina de estadística, se excluyeron a casos nosocomiales con historias incompletas.Resultados:
Entre los años 2010 y 2011 se hospitalizaron a 90 niños con diagnóstico clínico de varicela, siendo 42 (46.7 por ciento) hombres, la mediana de edad fue de años (RIQ 1 y 4 años), la mediana del tiempo de enfermedad previo a la hospitalización fue de 5 días (RIQ 4 y 6 días), el diagnósticos más frecuentes fue impétigo 55.6 por ciento (50/90), el tipo de exposición en la familia fue el 36.7 por ciento (33/90), ocasional 28.9 por ciento (26/90), en colegio o guardería 12.2 por ciento (11/90) y desconocido 22.2 por ciento (20/90), presentaron inmunización completa el 75.6 por ciento (68/90), estado nutricional eutrófico fueron el 85 por ciento (76/90), el 27.8 por ciento (25/90) usó chuño sobre las lesiones exantemáticas. Se exploró mediante el análisis de bivariado entre la exposición en la familia y las otras formas de exposición, para la edad con un (p=0.052), tiempo de enfermedad (p=0.039), tiempo de hospitalización (p=0.048).Conclusiones:
El tipo de exposición en la familia es más frecuente, siendo la exposición en colegio o guardería la mitad de los casos. Los expuestos en la familia corresponden a menores de 2 años, presentando una evolución más rápida y hospitalización con mayor estadía hospitalaria...ABSTRACT
