A osseointegração completará 46 anos de descoberta este ano. Muitos avanços tecnológicos foram incorporados ao conceito básico por meio de estudos em laboratório e estudos clínicos randomizados. Dentre esses avanços, podemos citar o desenvolvimento da topografia de superfície dos implantes como um dos passos mais importantes para a Implantologia atual. Praticamente todas as companhias seguiram esse conceito. Nesta entrevista, poderemos conhecer um pouco mais sobre um dos pesquisadores que tiveram papel fundamental nesse desenvolvimento. A professora Ann Wennerberg, hoje chefe do departamento de Prótese da Universidade de Malmo, nos recebeu em Gotemburgo, Suécia, numa tarde fria de novembro passado. Mas tornou-a agradabilíssima, com sua simpatia, conhecimento e brilho próprio. Pudemos conhecer um pouco mais sobre esses avanços, como afetam o mercado mundial de implantes e como analisar esse impacto no tratamento dos nossos pacientes.

ABSTRACT

Osseointegration will be 46 years old this year. Many technological advances have been incorporated into the basic concept through laboratory research and randomized clinic studies. Among these advances we can cite the development of surface topography of the implants as one of the most important steps for current implantology. Almost all manufacturers have adopted this concept. In this interview we get to know a little more about one the researchers who had a fundamental role in this development. Professor Ann Wennerberg, the current head of the Department to Prosthodontics at the University of Malmo received us in Gothemburg, Sweden on a chilly afternoon in November last year which was made all the more agreeable by her amiableness, knowledge and personal brilliance. We learned a little more about these advances, how they affect the world implant market and how to analyze the impact of this on the treatment of our patients.
