ABSTRACT
Obesity is currently considered a biological and socialpathology that predisposes humans to several chronicdiseases such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease,type II diabetes, joint problems among others. Obesityhas increased alarmingly and is affecting women duringthe reproductive stage, carrying the maternal risksassociated with excess weight, fetal morbidity and mortality.Body mass is use to assess the weight increase. It is a simpleindicator that measures the relationship between weight andheight and is use to identify overweight and obesity in adults.During the pregnancy stage, there is an increase of maternalweight and changes in body composition, and is related as riskfactor for developing gestational diabetes, insulin resistance, chronic inflammation process and deterioration in carbohydrates tolerance...
