RESUMO

A utilização do screening mamográfico no câncer da mama tem permitido, cada vez mais, a identificação de lesões iniciais, muitas vezes ainda sem o comprometimento axiliar, com o desenvolvimento de técnicas cirúrgicas mais conservadoras, inclusive em relação à abordagem axilar. A punção aspirativa por agulha fina (PAAF) de linfonodos axilares tem se mostrado método útil na definição do status axilar, com menor custo e diminuição da morbidade.

ABSTRACT

The use of the screening in breast câncer hás allowed, even further, the identifications of earlier lesions, often without axillary invasion, with the development of surgical techniques less aggressive, including the axillary aproach. The fine needle aspiration of the axillary limph nodes has showed a useful method on the definition of the axillary status, with a less cost and resulting a morbidity reduction.
