RESUMO

O texto aborda a evolução histórica da Faculdade de Medicina do Triângulo Mineiro, situando-a no contexto histórico e político que justificou sua fundação como escola privada, sua federalização e sua transformação em autarquia federal. Analisa a criação do regime de tempo integral, desde o inicio de sua instalação e as soluções aventadas para o problema do ensino das cadeiras clínicas, através do convênios com entidades hospitalares, até a construção do Hospital Escola. Finalmente, destaca a importância da pesquisa e da pós-graduação na qualificação dos docentes da Instituição e para a solução de problemas regionais na área de saúde.

ABSTRACT

This text deals with the evolution of the Triangulo Mineiro Medical School. It explains the historical and political context justifying its foundation as a private school, its federalization and its change into a federal autocracy. It also analyses the establishment of the full time regime from its beginning, continuing with the solutions raised to meet the teaching problems of the clinical subjects through associations with medical institutions, until the construction of the Hospital School. Finally, it draws attention to the importance of research and graduate training of the teaching staff, as well as the solutions to regional health matters.
