ABSTRACT
The chapter will discuss the outpatient assessment of the patient with possible Covid-19. The outpatient provider's tasks are the following Appropriately identify those who are sick enough to warrant inpatient treatment. Recognize those patients who are at high risk for progression to severe Covid-19 based on risk factors and to guide them toward interruptive therapy with antibody infusion or inhibitors of viral replication. Advise about testing, treatment, isolation/quarantine, and follow-up care including vaccination guidelines. Patients with post-acute sequelae of Covid-19 (Long Covid) are also usually under the aegis of the primary care provider. The post-acute course of Covid-19 is described, and the assessment and management of these patients are discussed. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2022.
