MEDICAL EDUCATION: PALLIATIVE MEDICINE AND HAND HYGIENE AND THEIR ROLE IN THE PANDEMIC OF COVID-19

ABSTRACT

Objective:

To report outreach actions in health education, focusing on health promotion in palliative medicine and on the prevention of infections by hand hygiene, developed by physicians from the University of Beira Interior (UBI) and by medical students from the Federal University of Acre (UFAC).

Method:

The interactive-participatory methodology was used based on the experience of students and users of UFAC's family health strategy modules in Brazil, and physicians from UBI's phD in medicine course in Portugal.

Results:

A total of 180 participants in palliative core courses and 60 participants in hand hygiene seminars were observed.

Conclusion:

Continuing health education should be part of the routine of the education service of young multipliers. And hand hygiene is important in preventing outbreaks of viruses and pathogens of zoonotic origin such as SRA-CoV-2 (COVID-9).
