ABSTRACT
Six standards to ensure a healthy work environment were developed by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) and comprise collaboration, skilled communication, effective decision making, appropriate staffing, meaningful recognition, and authentic leadership (AACN, 2016). Faculty can reduce or prevent these challenges by declining to accept increased workload demands, and by adopting strategies such as team teaching, co-authoring, and со-presenting at conferences (Thomas et al., 2019). Since ineffective communication impairs collaboration and leads to misunderstandings, nursing faculty are encouraged to use effective communication skills to seek administrative support and professional development to mitigate stress during crises and avoid burnout. In an ever-changing world, the need for nursing faculty to transition and adapt during periods of crisis cannot be understated. Because nursing faculty educate the next generation of nurses, these critical professionals should receive crisis preparedness training.
