RESUMEN

Retraction Note to: J Zhejiang Univ-Sci B (Biomed & Biotechnol) 2019 20(3):238-252. https://doi.org/10.1631/jzus.B1800122. The authors have retracted this article (Guo et al., 2019) because some data from the original literature had not been converted to appropriate units in the paper, which resulted in deviation of the meta-analysis results. For example, for the forest plot used to examine associations between PM10 exposure and the risk of adverse birth outcomes, the estimates from Brauer et al. (2008), Pedersen et al. (2013), Zhao et al. (2015), and Hansen et al. (2006) were on the originally reported scales of 1 µg/m3, 10 µg/m3, 10 µg/m3, and Inter Quartile Range, respectively. None of these estimates had been converted to 20 µg/m3 increase scale that was stated in the article. Similar problem exists in the analysis on associations between NO2 exposure and risk of adverse birth outcomes. Therefore, the results of the meta-analysis are misleading. All authors have agreed to this retraction and express their deepest apologies to the original authors, publishers, and readers.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the safety, feasibility, and efficacy of full repair strategy under small incision in the treatment of closed Lauge-Hansen pronation-external rotation type Ⅳ ankle fracture. METHODS: The clinical data of 57 patients with closed Lauge-Hansen pronation-external rotation type Ⅳ ankle fracture treated by full repair strategy (fracture, ligament, and cartilage repair) under small incision between January 2012 and January 2017 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 31 males and 26 females, with an average age of 41.1 years (range, 21-65 years). The causes of injury included traffic accident injury in 33 cases and falling injury in 24 cases. All of them were closed fractures, including 20 cases of medial malleolus fracture, 37 cases of complete medial malleolus but deep and shallow rupture of deltoid ligament. The average time from injury to admission was 9.6 hours (range, 3-34 hours). The quality of reduction of distal tibial articular surface (based on Ketz-Sanders standard), the reduction of tibiofibular syndesmosis (the anterior and posterior distances of distal tibiofibular syndesmosis and the lateral ankle twist angle measured by CT scan at 10 mm above the ankle joint line), and the fracture healing were evaluated. The medial clear space (MCS), tibiofibular clear space (TFCS), and distal fibular tip to lateral process of talus (DFTL) were measured on the X-ray films of ankle points. Before and after operation, the pain and functional improvement of ankle joint were evaluated by visual analogue scale (VAS) score and American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Association (AOFAS) score, and the activities of ankle dorsiflexion and plantar flexion were measured. RESULTS: Three cases with osteochondral lesions of the talus were found during operation and all were treated with microfracture techniques. Tournament paralysis occurred in 2 cases after anesthesia. The surgical incisions healed by first intention in all patients. All the 57 patients were followed up 24-84 months, with an average of 38.6 months. All patients achieved bone healing without bone nonunion and malunion at 12 months after operation. The reduction quality of distal tibial articular surface was excellent in 56 cases and good in 1 case at 3 months after operation, the excellent and good rate was 100%. There was no significant difference in the MCS, TFCS, DFTL, anterior distance of distal tibiofibular syndesmosis, posterior distance of distal tibiofibular syndesmosis, and lateral ankle twist angle between the affected and healthy sides at 12 months after operation ( P>0.05). At last follow-up, the VAS score, AOFAS score, ankle dorsiflexion and plantar flexion activities of the affected side were significantly improved when compared with preoperative ones ( P<0.05). Compared with the healthy side, there was no significant difference in ankle dorsiflexion and plantar flexion activities ( P>0.05). CONCLUSION: Full-repair strategy under small incisions for the treatment of Lauge-Hansen pronation-external rotation type Ⅳ ankle fracture is effective and safe. It can not only reduce wound complications, but also improve the quality of joint reduction of the ankle joint and distal tibiofibular syndesmosis. Full repair of ligaments and cartilage can improve the internal fixation strength and joint stability of the ankle joint.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the safety and effectiveness of anatomical approach osteoligaments repair technique in treatment of pronation ankle fractures. METHODS: The clinical data of 53 patients with pronation ankle fractures between April 2015 and October 2016, who were treated with anatomical approach osteoligaments repair technique applied for fracture reduction and internal fixation, were analysed retrospectively. There were 35 males and 18 females with an average age of 33.1 years (range, 18-60 years). The cause of injury included traffic accidents in 27 cases, tumbling in 5 cases, fall from height in 4 cases, twisted injury in 6 cases, sports injuries in 4 cases, and bruises in 7 cases. According to Lauge-Hansen classification, there were 44 cases of pronation external rotation stage Ⅳ and 9 cases of pronation abduction stage Ⅲ. The interval between injury and operation was 4-10 days (mean, 7 days). Postoperative pain and function of ankles were assessed by American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Score (AOFAS) and visual analogue pain scale (VAS) score. The medial clear space (MCS), tibiofibular clear space (TFCS), distal fibular tip to lateral process of talus (DFTL), the anterior and posterior tibiofibular syndesmosis distance, and the lateral malleolus twist angle were measured by X-ray films and CT of bilateral ankle joints. RESULTS: The tourniquet application time was 55-90 minutes (mean, 72.5 minutes); the frequency of fluoroscopy was 5-13 times (mean, 8.9 times). All incisions healed by first intention and no infection, deep vein thrombosis occurred after operation. All patients were followed up 28-48 months (mean, 36 months). There was no significant difference in postoperative MCS, TFCS, DFTL, the anterior and posterior tibiofibular syndesmosis distance, and the lateral malleolus twist angle between bilateral ankle joints ( P>0.05). At last follow-up, no ankle instability occurred and the degenerative changes of ankle joints (Kellgren-Lawrence grading Ⅱ) occurred in 5 cases. The average AOFAS score of the ankle joint was 90.84 (range, 85-95); mean VAS score was 1.23 (range, 0-5). The average dorsiflexion and plantar flexion of ankle joints was 20.24° (range, 15-25°) and 42.56° (range, 30-50°), respectively. CONCLUSION: Anatomical approach osteoligaments repair technique in treatment of pronation ankle fractures can expose the talocrural joint and lower tibiofibular syndesmosis clearly, repair the osteoligaments injury directly, and assist the syndesmosis and talocrural joint reduction, and decline the incidence of ankle degeneration.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To compare the clinical effectiveness for Tight rope fixation and traditional screw fixation in treating injury of distal tibiofibular syndesmosis in ankle fractures. METHODS: A retrospective study was carried out in patients with injury of distal syndesmosis in ankle fractures who received 2 surgical operations(observation group: 33 cases with Tight rope fixation; control group: 35 cases with traditional screw fixation) from May 2014 to February 2016. There were 18 males and 15 females, aged from 20 to 55 years old with an average of(32.4±5.2) years old in observation group; of them, 19 cases were caused by traffic accidents, 10 by sprain, and 4 by falling; according to Lauge-Hansen typing of ankle fractures, all of the 33 cases were pronation-extorsion fracture, 12 cases were III degree and 21 cases were IV degree. There were 19 males and 16 females, aged from 21 to 54 years old with an average of (32.8±5.5) years old in control group; of them, 20 cases were caused by traffic accidents, 11 by sprain, 4 by falling; according to Lauge-Hansen typing of ankle fractures, 1 case was with pronation-outreach, 34 cases with pronation-extorsion, 13 cases were III degree and 21 cases were IV degree. Fixation time and complication were compared between two groups and AOFAS scores were observed in two groups 3 and 6 months after the operation as well as final follow-up. RESULTS: All the patients were followed up from 8 to 24 months with an average of (16.3±3.8) months. Fixation time of observation group and control group were (10.1±2.8) min and (9.5±2.3) min(P>0.05) respectively. There were significant difference in complication and AOFAS of 3, 6 months postoperatively between two groups(P<0.05). In observation group, 23 case got excellent result, 9 good, 1 fair; and in control group, 18 cases got excellent results, 12 good, 5 fair; there was no significant difference between two groups(P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Tight rope for the treatment of injury of distal tibiofibular ligament union in ankle fractures has advantages such as easier techniques, earlier weight-bearing exercises without risk of screw breakage, thus is a new choice. However, it is still necessary to further study the angle, direction and tension of button steel plate.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (NdYAG) laser therapy has been a popular technique for facial rejuvenation but certain adverse effects like post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation are issues of concern to Asian patients. AIMS: To assess the outcome following combined treatment with vitamin C sonophoresis and NdYAG laser, in selected cases of facial hyperpigmentation. METHODS: Twenty three women with dyschromia or melasma who had undergone five sessions of Q-switched NdYAG laser therapy followed by transdermal delivery of vitamin C via sonophoresis were selected after a retrospective review of case records. The objective and subjective clinical outcomes and the side effects, including erythema, scaling, pruritus, dryness and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation were evaluated. RESULTS: In both objective or subjective outcomes, 91.3% (21/23) of the patients showed an excellent or better outcome, while 8.7% (2/23) showed no change. A majority of the patients (73.9%, 17/23) experienced no post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or had slight post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation which quickly resolved within 1 week. Only one (4.3%) patient had extreme post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation which lasted for over a month. LIMITATIONS: This was a retrospective study without a control group; a comparative study with a control group (patients treated with the laser alone, without vitamin C sonopheresis) is needed to determine the difference in the outcome. CONCLUSION: The use of vitamin C sonophoresis along with NdYAG laser may reduce the incidence of adverse effects in Asian patients. Patients experienced obvious improvement in hyperpigmentation and had lower chances of experiencing extreme or severe post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

RESUMEN

The electron density and related properties of the red-colored energetic material 1,3,4-trinitro-7,8-diazapentalene (space group Pca2(1)) have been determined from a low-temperature [90.0 (1) K] X-ray diffraction experiment. Intensity data were measured with a 2 K CCD Bruker diffractometer using Ag Kalpha radiation. One detector setting, several varphi settings, 0.15 degrees omega scans and 96 s exposure time per frame gave R(int) = 0.0188 for 31 952 (10 283 unique) reflections and (sin theta/lambda)(max) = 1.15 A(-1). The electron density was modeled using the Hansen-Coppens [(1978), Acta Cryst. A34, 909-921] multipole model and refined to R = 0.026 for 9455 unique observed reflections. The electron density, Laplacian and electrostatic potential distributions are reported and discussed. The properties of the bond (3,-1) critical points are analyzed. All results are indicative of multiple bonds in the five-membered rings. In addition, a significant number of weak intermolecular interactions (O...H, O...O, O...N, O...C) have also been characterized by the properties of their critical points. A comparison of experimental results with those obtained from theoretical calculations (periodic, CRYSTAL98; single molecule, GAUSSIAN98) is also reported.
