Erythema nodosum in leprosy

ABSTRACT

1- Erythema nodosum occurs among a large proportion of the cases of leprosy seen at Carville. 2- A correlation between antileprous treatment and the appearance of erythema nodosum is indicated by the observation that 7 per cent occurs before treatment and 93 per cent after treatment. 3- The suggestion is made that the presence of erythema nodosum indicates an increasing resistance to the disease. 4- An antimony compound (fuadin)has been found to be a satisfactory agent for the control of the fever and discomfort of erythema nodosum and is considered a useful adjunct to the sulfone drugs in the management of leprosy.
