The crude extract of earthworm which has a thrombolytic effect could significantly decrease the plasma fibrinogen content and euglobulin lysis time (P < 0.01). An enzymatic preparation, containing many fibrinolytic enzymes, was prepared from the crude extract by ammonium sulphate precipitation and DEAE-cellulose chromatography. When administered in rabbits, the enzymatic preparation had an effect in hemorheology improvement. The experiment shows the enzymatic preparation could obviously lower the aggregation of platelets, decrease the viscosity of whole blood and plasma as well as the index of erythrocyte rigidity significantly (P < 0.001). All these effects demonstrated its ability in promoting blood circulation to remove stasis.

Pharmacologic effects of propolis were investigated in this article. The results suggested that propolis has pharmacologic functions in many aspects. It is a new-type medicine derived from animal in pharmacology and food both. To small mouse, propolis showed the functions of anti-fatigue and endurance to lack of oxygen. To high-blood-lipid-model mouse, it prevented increase of blood-mucus and blood lipid(TC, TG, LDL-C) (P < 0.05-0.01), but there were insignificant changes to red-blood-cell proportion (HCT) and high-density lipoprotein chelesteral (HDC-C). To small immunosuppessive-model mouse, propolis could strengthen macrophagocyte phagocytosis in the abdominal-cavity (P < 0.05), and increase the thymus-index (P < 0.05), but there were insignificant changes to the spleen-index. The LD50 > 7500 mg/kg to small mouse.

After per os Huomaisan twice a day for 5 days, HMS significantly prolonged thrombus formation time and inhibited platelet aggregation induced by ADP and collagen. Meanwhile, HMS also decreased blood viscosity, but did not significantly affect hematocrit. The result shows that HMS has multiple actions on blood.

This paper reports the effects of Ejiao (Colla Corii Asini) on endotoxin shocks in dogs. The results showed that Ejiao obviously suppresses the increase of blood viscosity during shocks, improves microcirculation, and recovers and stabilizes blood pressure rather quickly.

OBJECTIVE: To study the influence of Qilong capsule (QLC) on the hemoreology in acute stress blood stasis model rats. METHOD: The model of acute stress blood stasis rats were induced by putting the rats into ice-water between hyodermic epinephrine twice of 1 mg x kg(-1). With the models, the effect of QLC on hemoreology such as whole blood viscosity, whole blood reduction viscosity, plasma viscosity, haematocrit (Hct), erythrocyte deformation and erythrocyte aggregation were observed. RESULT: QLC 0.6, 0.3, 0.15 g x kg(-1) could significantly reduce the increase of whole blood viscosity at high-middle-low shear rate, reduce the whole blood reduction viscosity at middle-low shear rate, reduce Hct and erythrocyte aggregation, and increase the erythrocyte deformation in acute stress blood stasis rats (P < 0.05, P < 0.01, compared with vehicle). QLC 0.6, 0.3 g x kg(-1) could also reduce plasma viscosity (P < 0.05, P < 0.01, compared with vehicle). CONCLUSION: QLC can significantly improve some indexes of hemoreology in acute stress blood stasis rats.
