Princípios de Hahnemann no tratamento de um quadro agudo: relato de caso / Hahnemann's principles in the treatment of a acute frame: case report

A Homeopatia é uma ciência fundamentada na observação dos fenômenos naturais. Segundo Hahnemann, a cura homeopática é aquela que acontece de acordo com as leis naturais, sendo uma delas a lei dos semelhantes, já descrita por muitos médicos desde a antiguidade, inclusive Hipócrates. Quando são seguidos os princípios estipulados por Hahnemann, considerando a totalidade sintomática, incluindo a escolha do medicamento, sua potência, dose e frequência de administração, o tratamento homeopático torna-se eficaz tanto em casos crônicos quanto nos agudos, "sendo capaz de aniquilar a doença sem produzir novos e sérios distúrbios". Este estudo tem como objetivo exemplificar como, seguindo os princípios estipulados, a Homeopatia pode ser eficaz no tratamento de um quadro agudo que não obteve sucesso com a terapêutica alopática convencional. Trata-se de um relato de caso de paciente de 64 anos, sem doença prévia instalada, com ferimento corto- -contuso em mão esquerda após queda da própria altura, mantendo sinais flogísticos e ausência de cicatrização 13 dias após a realização da sutura e de fazer uso regular de antibiótico e anti-inflamatório prescritos. Após a avaliação da totalidade sintomática, foi prescrito Belladonna 6cH, administrada pelo método plus, resultando em alívio imediato dos sintomas e cura total em 5 dias. Realizando com cautela o diagnóstico homeopático e a partir disso elegendo o medicamento mais similar ao caso, com potência, dose e frequência de administração adequadas, é possível obter resultados eficazes com o tratamento homeopático, sempre considerando a constituição do indivíduo.

Homeopathy is a science based on the observation of phenomena natural. According to Hahnemann, homeopathic cure is one that happens according to natural laws, one of which is the law of similars, already described by many doctors since ancient times, including Hippocrates. When the principles stipulated by Hahnemann, considering the symptomatic totality, including the choice of the medicine, its potency, dose and frequency of administration, the Homeopathic treatment becomes effective in both chronic and in acute cases, "being capable of annihilating the disease without producing new and serious disturbances." This study aims to exemplify how, following the stipulated principles, Homeopathy can be effective in treatment of an acute condition that has not been successful with therapy conventional allopathic. This is a patient case report 64 years old, with no previous illness, with a cut wound-bruise in the left hand after falling from a height, maintaining phlogistic signs and lack of healing 13 days after the procedure suture and regular use of prescribed antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. After evaluating the totality of symptoms, Belladonna was prescribed 6cH, administered by the plus method, resulting in immediate relief of symptoms and complete cure in 5 days. Carrying out the diagnosis with caution homeopathic and from there choosing the medicine most similar to the case, with adequate potency, dose and frequency of administration, it is possible to obtain effective results with homeopathic treatment, always considering the constitution of the individual.

Medicamentos homeopáticos mais comercializados na pandemia de COVID-19 no município de João Pessoa/Paraíba / best-selling homeopathic medicines during the COVID-19 pandemic in the municipality of João Pessoa/Paraíba

No dia 31 de dezembro de 2019, a Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS) recebeu a primeira comunicação sobre um surto de pneumonia ocorrido na cidade de Wuhan, onde o agente causador foi determinado como um novo coronavírus. No Brasil, o primeiro caso foi registrado em 26 de fevereiro de 2020 e após 21 dias foi anunciado pela Secretaria de Estado da Saúde da Paraíba o primeiro caso de COVID-19 nesse estado. Uma das opções utilizadas pela população para a chamada prevenção contra a COVID-19 foi o uso de medicamentos homeopáticos. Esta pesquisa objetivou identificar os medicamentos homeopáticos mais vendidos em farmácias homeopáticas do município de João Pessoa no período de janeiro a setembro de 2020. Para coleta dos dados foi realizada uma entrevista com os proprietários das farmácias homeopáticas que responderam a um questionário previamente elaborado. O estudo evidenciou um aumento expressivo na venda de medicamentos homeopáticos a partir do mês de março de 2020 nas farmácias pesquisadas. Os medicamentos mais comercializados por ordem de frequência foram: Camphora, Arsenicum album, Gelsemium, Oscilococcinum, Influenzinum, Antimonium tartaricum, Carbo vegetabilis e Aviarium. Os dados obtidos neste trabalho sugerem que o fluxo de incidência de Oscilococcinum e Influenzinum foi maior nos meses iniciais da Pandemia, provavelmente, relacionado a sua indicação como preventivo, assim como o aumento expressivo de Camphora e Arsenicum álbum nos meses de abril, maio e junho de 2020, reflete a indicação desses medicamentos não apenas como preventivo, mas também nos casos da doença já instalada.

On December 31, 2019, the World Health Organization (WHO) received the first communication about a pneumonia outbreak in the city of Wuhan, which was caused by a new coronavirus. In Brazil, the first case was registered in February 26, 2020, and after 21 days the State Health Department of Paraíba announced the first case of COVID-19 in this state. One of the options used by the population to what was considered prevention against the COVID-19 was the homeopathic medicines. This research aimed to identify the best-selling homeopathic medicines in homeopathic drugstores in the municipality of João Pessoa, in the period from January to September 2020. The data was collected in an interview with the owners of the homeopathic drugstores, which answered to a previously designed questionnaire. The study evidenced an expressive enhance in the selling of homeopathic medicines starting from March 2020 in the research drugstores. The most commercialized medicines, in order of frequency, were: Camphora, Arsenicum album, Gelsemium, Oscilococcinum, Influenzinum, Antimonium tartaricum, Carbo vegetabilis and Aviarium. The data found in this study suggest that the incidence flow of Oscilococcinum and Influenzinum was higher in the initial months of the Pandemic, probably, because of their indication as a preventive, and the expressive enhance of Camphora and Arsenicum álbum in the months of April, May and June, 2020 reflect the indication of these medicines not only as preventive, but also in the cases that the illness is confirmed.

Homeopatia em trombocitopenia canina: relato de caso / Homeopathy in canine thrombocytopenia: case report

Hemoparasitoses constituem-se de enfermidades cosmopolitas que são causadas por parasitos intracelulares obrigatórios de células sanguínea. Os mais frequentemente encontrados nos cães são a babesiose, erliquiose e anaplasmose. O tratamento consiste no uso de antibiótico do grupo das tetraciclinas, sendo a doxiciclina o medicamento mais indicado. O objetivo deste relato de caso é descrever o tratamento homeopático em um cão da raça shih-tzu, senil (8 anos de idade), cardiopata com trombocitopenia discreta secundário a hemoparasitose ­ ehrlichiose. O medicamento homeopático repertorizado foi Phosphorus 30 cH 3 glóbulos 2x ao dia por 3 dias. Foi administrado também a Calcarea Carbonica 6 cH 3 glóbulos 2x ao dia por 7 dias. Tal sucesso terapêutico foi atingido em 3 dias de tratamento, com melhora laboratorial da trombocitopenia e do quadro de dispnéia. Este estudo contribui com pesquisas existentes a caráter de novos tratamentos para a ehrlichiose canina.

Hemoparasitoses are cosmopolitan diseases that are caused by obligate intracellular parasites of blood cells. The most frequently found in dogs are babesiosis, ehrlichiosis and anaplasmosis. Treatment consists of the use of antibiotics from the tetracycline group, with doxycycline being the most indicated medication. The objective of this case report is to describe the homeopathic treatment in a dog of the shih-tzu breed, senile (8 years old), heart disease with mild thrombocytopenia secondary to hemoparasitosis - ehrlichiosis. The repertorized homeopathic medicine was Phosphorus 30 cH 3 globules 2x a day for 3 days. Calcarea Carbonica 6 cH 3 globules was also administered twice a day for 7 days. Such therapeutic success was achieved in 3 days of treatment, with laboratory improvement of thrombocytopenia and dyspnea. This study contributes to existing research on new treatments for canine ehrlichiosis.

Assessment of weight gain and control of parasitism by Rhipicephalus microplus in dairy cattle in the field using organosynthetic parasiticide, phytotherapics and homeopathy / Avaliação do ganho de peso e controle do parasitismo por Rhipicephalus microplus em bovinos leiteiros a campo usando parasiticida organosintético, fitoterápicos e homeopatia

The goal of this research was to compare the effect of the following products on dairy cattle, parasitized by Rhipicephalus microplus: organosynthetics - Clorfenvinfós and Ivermectina (OG); phytotherapics - Eucalyptus oil (EG) and Neem cake (NG); Homeopathy (HG); The control group (CG) received no treatment. Infestation was by R. microplus (MIC) and weight gain (GP) were evaluated. The study included 60 animals (5 groups) from ­ Dutch / Zebu, aged between 25-44 months and initial weight between 211-477kg. EG and NG showed MIC 84.9% and 14.0% greater than CG, respectively (P <0.05; P = 0). HG and OG had MIC less than CG 24.4% and 16.9%, respectively (P<0.05; P <0.05). EG, NG and OG obtained GP lower than CG in 7.9%, 8.9% and 8.06% (P <0.05) respectively. The HG GP was 4.9% higher (P <0.05) than CG. This was the first research to prove parasitism control by R. microplus in a field test, using homeopathy. The methodology for choosing Homeopathy for the control of enzooties, developed and tested for the first time in this study, proved to be adequate and efficient, opening the possibility for establishing a new methodology for strategic control of parasitism by R. microplus.(AU)

O objetivo desta pesquisa foi comparar o efeito dos seguintes produtos sobre bovinos leiteiros, parasitados por Rhipicephalus microplus: organossintéticos - clorfenvinfós e ivermectina (OG); fitoterápicos - óleo de eucalipto (EG) e torta de Neem (NG) e homeopatia (HG). O grupo controle (CG) não recebeu tratamento. Foram avaliados infestação por R. microplus (MIC) e ganho de peso/grupo (GP) em 60 animais (5 grupos), a partir de ­ holandês/zebu, com idade entre 25 e 44 meses e peso inicial entre 211 e 477kg. EG e NG apresentaram MIC 84,9% e 14,0% maior que CG, respectivamente (P<0,05; P=0). HG e OG apresentaram MIC menor que CG 24,4% e 16,9%, respectivamente (P<0,05; P<0,05). EG, NG e OG obtiveram GP menor que CG em 7,9%, 8,9% e 8,06% (P<0,05), respectivamente. O GP do HG foi 4,9% maior (P<0,05) que o CG. Esta foi a primeira pesquisa a comprovar controle do parasitismo por R. microplus em teste a campo, usando homeopatia. A metodologia para escolha de medicamentos homeopáticos para controle de enzootias, desenvolvida e testada pela primeira vez neste estudo, mostrou-se adequada e eficiente, abrindo a possibilidade para estabelecimento de nova metodologia para controle estratégico do parasitismo por R. microplus.(AU)

Nuevos Medicamentos Homeopáticos: uso de fármacos modernos según el principio de semejanza / New Homeopathic medicines: use of modern drugs according to the principle of similarity

La Homeopatía se fundamenta en la ley de semejanza, la cual nos dice que el empleo de medicamentos que producen síntomas similares a los de las enfermedades estimula la reacción del organismo para aliviar sus propias dolencias. El tratamiento homeopático puede emplear toda clase de sustancias (naturales o sintéticas, en dosis ponderales o infinitesimales) siempre que se respete dicho principio. Con base en lo anterior, desde 2003 hemos propuesto el uso de fármacos modernos según el principio homeopático de curación tanto a través de investigaciones y publicaciones en revistas científicas, como de la elaboración de una Materia Médica Homeopática de Fármacos Modernos, que incluye los efectos primarios de 1,250 fármacos alopáticos, y un Repertorio Homeopático de Fármacos Modernos. Estos esfuerzos forman parte del proyecto Nuevos Medicamentos Homeopáticos: Uso de Fármacos Modernos según el Principio de Semejanza, que puede consultarse de manera gratuita, en portugués e inglés, en el sitio web www.nuevosmedicamentoshomeopaticos. com. Ahora, la validez clínica y científica de esta propuesta ha comenzado con la realización de un ensayo clínico para evaluar la eficacia y la seguridad del estrógeno dinamizado en el tratamiento homeopático del dolor pélvico asociado a la endometriosis. El resultado ha sido positivo, pero se requiere que médicos, farmacéuticos e investigadores se sumen a esta iniciativa para robustecerla e impulsar su crecimiento.

Novos medicamentos homeopáticos: uso dos fármacos modernos segundo o princípio da similitude / New homeopathic medicines: use of modern drugs according to the principle of similitude

O método de tratamento homeopático baseia-se na aplicação do princípio da similitude (similia similibus curentur), utilizando medicamentos que causam efeitos semelhantes aos sintomas da doença, com o objetivo de estimular uma reação do organismo contra seus próprios distúrbios.Essa reação vital, homeostática ou paradoxal do organismo está cientificamente embasada no estudo do efeito rebote das drogas modernas. Nesse trabalho estamos concluindo uma proposta antiga, na qual sugerimos um método para a utilização homeopática das drogas modernas. Apoiados na justificativa epistemológica de que determinada classe de eventos adversos descritos na farmacologia experimental são sintomas patogenéticos das substâncias, foi elaborada uma matéria médica e um repertório homeopático com 1.251 fármacos modernos, sugerindo sua utilização segundo o princípio da similitude e a totalidade sintomática individualizante. Além de embasar a racionalidade homeopática perante a farmacologia científica, estamos disponibilizando uma metodologia que poderá ampliar o espectro de ação da homeopatia nas doenças modernas.(AU)

Following the pattern of traditional homeopathy, this work proposes to employ modern drugs according to the principle of therapeutic similitude, stimulating the healing rebound effect (vital reaction) of the organism through the administration of substances (in infinitesimal doses) that caused similar symptoms in healthy human. Is worth emphasizing that the pathogenetic effects (primary actions) of classical homeopathic medicines correspond to the therapeutic, adverse and side effects of conventional drugs, which should be similar to totality of the symptoms of the patient to stimulate the curative vital reaction (curative rebound effect) according to the principle of therapeutic similitude. To make this proposal operative, a Homeopathic Materia Medica of Modern Drugs was elaborated, where the therapeutic, adverse and side effects of drugs were grouped following the structure of the traditional homeopathic materia medica, while giving particular value to the frequency of the symptoms observed during the phases of study of the drugs. In order to facilitate the selection of the individualized remedy (i.e., similar to the totality of symptoms of the patient), and thus the clinical application of the present proposal, at a later stage it was also elaborated a Homeopathic Repertory of Modern Drugs, where symptoms and remedies are arranged as in the traditional homeopathic repertories, described in this work.

Scientific basis of the principle of similitude in modern pharmacology / New homeopathic medicines: use of modern drugs according to the principle of similitude

Building a bridge between homeopathic pharmacology (principle of similitude) and modern pharmacology, one can find countless reports in pharmacological compendia and clinical and experimental trials published in the scientific media describing the secondary reaction of the organism opposed to the primary action of the drug, which confirm Hahnemann's theory. Such secondary action of the organism to preserve organic homeostasis is known in modern science as rebound effect or paradoxical reaction, being used by homeopathy as a therapeutic response.

Realizando a ponte entre a farmacologia homeopática (princípio da similitude) e a farmacologia moderna, encontramos uma infinidade de relatos, tanto em compêndios farmacológicos como em experimentos e ensaios clínicos publicados em periódicos científicos, que descrevem uma reação do organismo oposta e secundária a uma ação primária da droga, confirmando a teoria hahnemanniana. Essa ação secundária do organismo, no sentido de manter a homeostase orgânica, é denominada de efeito rebote ou reação paradoxal segundo a racionalidade científica moderna, sendo usada pela homeopatia como resposta terapêutica.

Homeopathy is universally known as an opponent of allopathic Medicine, namely scientific medicine based on ponderal drugs and recognised mechanisms of receptor agonism and antagonism following the dose-response curve. Over time the difficulty to explain with arguments the action of homeopathic ultra-diluted remedies has led many homeopaths to distance themselves from any harmacological knowledges. Nevertheless this position fortgets not only the modalities in which homeopathy was born and has grown, but a lot of modern changes of view in body-mind communication, cell communication, neuro-immune-endocrinology and bioelectromagnetism, that could give new reasons to treat as clinical homeopathic practice is teaching and to recognize the principle of similars as a modern pharmacological principle. Realizando a ponte entre a farmacologia homeopática (princípio da similitude) e a farmacologia moderna, encontramos uma infinidade de relatos, tanto em compêndios farmacológicos como em experimentos e ensaios clínicos publicados em periódicos científicos, que descrevem uma reação do organismo oposta e secundária a uma ação primária da droga, confirmando a teoria hahnemanniana. Essa ação secundária do organismo, no sentido de manter a homeostase orgânica, é denominada de efeito rebote ou reação paradoxal segundo a racionalidade científica moderna, sendo usada pela homeopatia como resposta terapêutica.

Building a bridge between homeopathic pharmacology (principle of similitude) and modern pharmacology, one can find countless reports in pharmacological compendia and clinical and experimental trials published in the scientific media describing the secondary reaction of the organism opposed to the primary action of the drug, which confirm Hahnemann's theory. Such secondary action of the organism to preserve organic homeostasis is known in modern science as rebound effect or paradoxical reaction, being used by homeopathy as a therapeutic response.

Evaluation of the genotoxic and mutagenic potentials of phytotherapic and homeopathic solutions of Euphorbia tirucalli Lineu (Aveloz) / Evaluation of the genotoxic and mutagenic potentials of phytotherapic and homeopathic solutions of Euphorbia tirucalli Lineu (Aveloz)

Introduction: Euphorbia tirucalli Lineu, commonly known as Aveloz, is a very common plant found in tropical regions [1]. The ingestion or contact with its latex causes symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea, pallor, skin irritation, hepatotoxicity as well as carcinogenesis [2]. Moreover, the Aveloz latex is also responsible for a few important activities against some infectious and neoplastic diseases. Aveloz latex phytochemical composition may vary according to seasonal aspects and geographic location [3], and it is used either orally or topically in traditional medicine. Popularly known as an antitumoral agent (breast, prostate, lung, kidney), it is used not only in Brazil, but in several other countries. According to the literature, the latex could have a dual behaviour, activating or inhibiting tumoral events [3-6]. However, there are few reports discussing these mechanisms. Besides, the mutagenic and genotoxic potentials of phytochemical and homeopathic Aveloz have not yet been described. Several experimental methods have been used to evaluate the mutagenic and genotoxic effects, such as Inductest, the Ames test and the chromotest. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the genotoxic and mutagenic potentials of Aveloz latex and Aveloz phytotherapic and homeopathic solutions. Methodology: In this study, Aveloz 5 and 30cH are prepared according to Brazilian Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia [7], from Aveloz latex collected in the Center for Natural Products Research (NPPN) at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro [8]. The Aveloz phytochemical solution was prepared following the doses used in folk medicine: 2 drops diluted in 250ml of water and 2 drops diluted in 25 ml of water. All test solutions were submitted to the following methodologies: (a) Inductest: assesses the ability of physical or chemical agents to promote lysogenic induction as a response to DNA damage in lysogenic bacteria; (b) The Ames test: uses indicator strains of Salmonella typhimurium, which are sensitive to substances that can induce different types of mutation; (c) Chromotest: evaluates the genotoxicity of chemicals through the induction of the bacterial SOS system. Results: In the Inductest there was no decrease in bacterial survival fraction and no increase in lysogenic cycle. As measured by The Ames test and the chromotest no mutagenic or genotoxic potentials were detected. Discussion: The homeopathic and the phytochemical Aveloz solutions were unable to produce lysogenic induction or mutagenesis in bacterial cells and they were also unable to produce genotoxic effects, as measured by chromotest. Conclusion: Our results showed that no mutagenic or genotoxic damages were induced by all Aveloz preparations studied, thus we are led to believe that patients using Aveloz as a complementary therapy present no side effects in relation to mutagenesis and genotoxicity. Background: in a previous paper we reported the statistical analysis and other distribution data of a homeopathic pathogenetic trial (HPT) of Plumbum metallicum 30cH carried out by our group. However, at that time we did not report the resulting pure materia medica, i.e., the totality of symptoms elicited by the tested medicine on healthy volunteers. Aim: to communicate to the homeopathic community the full record of symptoms collected in our HPT of Plb. Methods:methods to collect and select symptoms have been reported in the previous paper. In synthesis were excluded all previous common symptoms of volunteers, even with slight differences, and selected only those that were really unknown, never seen, unusual or very strange for the prover. In this paper special emphasis was given to new symptoms as well as unusual or repeated dreams, while in the previous paper special emphasis was given to repeated and crossed symptoms. Results: symptoms are reported in their chronological order of appearance in each volunteer. 37 new symptoms were found, useful to update Homeopathic Repertories. It is also included a synthesis of the original HPT of Plb carried out in 1828 in order to make available the full experimental materia medica currently existing. Conclusions: the new HPT, besides widening the pathogenetic picture of Plb (skin and mucosae symptoms), also allowed us to give new and deeper meanings to some of the symptoms reported in the original trial, such as Anxiety, Activity, Depression, Slowness, Gastro-oesophageal problems, Colitis. The dreams complete the remedy image, mainly in work, religion and sexual themes. Up to the present time there is no peer-reviewed publication devoted to HPTs. For this reason, researchers are compelled to publish HPTs as private editions. This results in poor control of the quality of publications and a lack of standards on how to present the results of HPTs.(AU)

The World Health Organization states that deaths from cancer are increasing reaching an estimated 12 million deaths by 2030 [1]. In Brazil will be about 480,000 new cases by the end of 2011 [2]. For the treatment of cancer conventional therapies are used, such as chemotherapy[3] and radiotherapy [4] which can cause many adverse reactions. Complementary therapies such as homeopathy can be combined to traditional cancer treatment with the aim of minimizing these adverse reactions, relieving the symptoms of the disease itself and its treatment. Other complementary therapies which can aid in cancer treatment are electrotherapy, acupuncture and electroacupuncture, nutritional supplements, probiotics, phytotherapy, among others[5]. The literature shows the homeopathic medicines can be prescribed using the patient?s physical constitution as one strategy to help cancer patients [6-11]. This work aims to compile the literature review done with in vitro and in vivo models describing the mechanisms of action of homeopathic medicines used to treat different kinds of cancer. The research findings showed that homeopathy can help the patient to come to terms with the disease, after cancer diagnosis which often brings with itself denial, fear and a host of psychological disorders that cause an unbalance in the body. In addition, some works done with in vitro and in vivo models have shown that homeopathic medicines can modulate the immune system, activating macrophages and inducing the release of cytokines. These and other effects may help the body to overcome the cancer. The use of homeopathic therapy as complementary to conventional cancer treatment has promising results and should be further investigated.(AU)

Homeopathic use of modern drugs: therapeutic application of the organism paradoxical reaction or rebound effect / Uso homeopático de drogas modernas: aplicação terapêutica da reação paradoxal do organismo ou efeito rebote / Uso homeopático de fármacos modernos: aplicación terapéutica de la reacción paradojal del organismo o efecto rebote

When Samuel Hahnemann systematized homeopathy and the effects of drugs on the state of human health, he described the primary action of drugs and the following secondary and opposite reaction of the organism. Seeking to apply this secondary action or vital reaction of the organism as therapeutic method, he postulated the principle of similitude, i.e. the prescription to ill individuals of drugs that cause similar symptoms in the healthy (similia similibus curentur). In modern pharmacology, secondary action (vital reaction) of drugs is known as rebound effect or paradoxical reaction of the organism. It has been observed after discontinuation of several classes of palliative (enantiopathic) drugs, namely those that act according to the principle of contraries (contraria contrariis curentur). Although in this case it is associated with severe and fatal iatrogenic events, rebound effect might awaken a healing reaction when the very same drug is employed according to the principle of similitude. The validity of the principle of similitude is proved by scientific evidence on rebound effect, whereas conventional drugs primary (therapeutic, adverse and side) effects might be equated to pathogenetic manifestations and thus be homeopathically applied. For this purpose a homeopathic materia medica and repertory comprising 1,251 modern drugs was elaborated using the monographs described in The United States Pharmacopeia Dispensing Information as source (www.newhomeopathicmedicines.com). Thus, the therapeutic range of homeopathy is broadened through the addition of hundreds of new medicines that might be employed in every kind of disease including countless modern clinical syndromes.(AU)

Quando Samuel Hahnemann sistematizou a homeopatia e o efeito das drogas no estado de saúde humano, descreveu uma ação primária das drogas seguida pela ação secundária e oposta do organismo. Visando utilizar essa ação secundária ou reação vital do organismo como método terapêutico, ele postulou o princípio da similitude, ou seja, a administração ao doente de drogas que causam sintomas similares no indivíduo sadio (similia similibus curentur). Na farmacologia moderna, a ação secundária (reação vital) das drogas é conhecida como efeito rebote ou reação paradoxal do organismo. Este fenômeno tem sido observado após a interrupção de vários tipos de drogas paliativas (enantiopáticas), ou seja, aquelas que agem de acordo com o princípio dos contrários (contraria contrariis curentur). Podendo provocar eventos iatrogênicos severos e fatais, o efeito rebote também pode desencadear uma reação curativa quando a mesma droga é utilizada de acordo com o princípio da similitude. A validade do princípio da similitude é assim comprovada pela evidência científica do efeito rebote, e os efeitos primários (terapêuticos, adversos e colaterais) das drogas convencionais podem ser comparados a manifestações patogenéticas e, portanto, serem utilizados homeopaticamente. Para tanto, foi elaborada uma matéria médica e um repertório incluindo 1.251 drogas modernas com base nas monografias descritas em The United States Pharmacopeia Dispensing Information(www.newhomeopathicmedicines.com). Assim, o escopo terapêutico da homeopatia é alargado através da adição de centenas de novos medicamentos que podem ser utilizados em todos os tipos de doenças, incluindo as síndromes clínicas modernas.(AU)

Cuando Samuel Hahnemann sistematizó la homeopatía y los efectos de los fármacos en el estado de salud humana, describió la acción primaria de los fármacos que es seguida por la reacción secundaria y opuesta del organismo. Objetivando utilizar esta acción secundaria o reacción vital del organismo como método terapéutico, postuló el principio de semejanza, es decir, la prescripción a los enfermos de fármacos que causan síntomas similares en los sanos (similia similibus curentur). En farmacología moderna, esta acción secundaria (reacción vital) es conocida como efecto rebote o reacción paradojal del organismo. Ha sido observada después de la interrupción de varias clases de fármacos paliativos (enantiopáticos), o sea, los que actúan según el principio de los contrarios (contraria contrariis curentur). Aunque en este caso se asocie con eventos iatrogénicos severos y fatales, el efecto rebote puede desencadenar una reacción curativa cuando el mismo fármaco es utilizado según el principio de semejanza. La validez del principio de semejanza es por consiguiente probada por la evidencia científica referida al efecto rebote, y los efectos primarios de los fármacos convencionales (terapéuticos, adversos y colaterales) pueden ser equiparados a manifestaciones patogenéticas y ser utilizados homeopáticamente. Storm after the calm ! / Storm after the calm !

To work with or to research on subjects related to Homeopathy and High Dilutions was never a monotonous activity! At all moment skeptics and believers are discussing about clinical and experimental proofs to validate the phenomenon behind the high dilutions. Independently how structured are their reasoning, and which part is attacking, the counterpart can always neutralize the discussion using the same antidote: the intrinsic uncertain provided by statistical methods, converging to an endless technical tie. For recent examples, we can cite the UK Parliament discussion, the attempt of collective suicide by skeptics and the Belgium KCE report. I agree they had consequences, but not enough to stop the polemics or this scenario. Behind and beyond all these discussion there is an important consensus: no one knows how a HD acts or even whether it really works or whether we are dealing with experimental artifacts! Each side has its beliefs and answers. However, we can extract an ironical consequence from that: the fight between the practitioners and politicians, believers and skeptics, is the motivation and the fuel for the researchers!! What a beautiful opportunity to challenge with a potentially new phenomenon!...In the current issue, IJHDR will publish 17 contributions presented on 2010 (Monaco) and in the next issues, more than 50 contributions submitted to the XXV GIRI Symposium (September 2011, Brazil).
