ABSTRACT

Isolated fornix anterior column infarction has rarely been described and is difficult to assess accurately using conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We report the case of a 75-year-old female who experienced acute anterograde amnesia. MRI performed within 24 h after amnesia onset showed an isolated infarction of the bilateral anterior columns of the fornix on diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI). Her symptoms persisted for up to 50 days, and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) showed disruption of the fiber tracts of the fornix. when acute amnesia syndrome onset, fornix anterior column infarction should be considered, and optimized DWI and DTI methods are needed to study the fornix in vivo in future research.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: This case report describes a case of Müllerian duct cyst that occurred in a male retroperitoneum. The cyst lesion is rare and complicated with diaphragmatic hernia. Müllerian duct-derived cyst is a rare developmental disorder that is more common in male pelvic tissues and rare in the retroperitoneum. We investigated the important role of computerized tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in preoperative diagnosis and disease prediction of this condition. CASE PRESENTATION: A 25-year-old male was found to have an abnormal occupying lesion in the left diaphragm in imaging examinations, usually healthy with no obvious clinical symptoms. X-ray examination showed a circular, high-density shadow near the left diaphragm. CT scan showed a soft tissue density shadow resembling a tumor in the left adrenal area, irregularly protruding into the chest cavity, with uneven density. MRI examination showed an irregular elongated T1 and T2 signal shadow in the left adrenal area. T2 fat suppression showed high signal intensity with unrestricted diffusion. Robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery showed left retroperitoneal tumor resection. The patient recovered well postoperatively and had no recurrence after discharge follow-up. CONCLUSION: The preclinical symptoms of retroperitoneal Müllerian cysts complicated by diaphragmatic hernia in young men are difficult to distinguish, and it is difficult to diagnose other similar cysts with imaging. The method of combined CT and MRI diagnosis guides the endoscopic robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery for excision of cysts to achieve accurate diagnosis and treatment of such diseases.

ABSTRACT

Macrophage polarization is a key process involved in wound healing. The continuous release of proinflammatory cytokines by macrophages inhibits the healing process of chronic wounds, such as diabetic wounds. To promote wound healing, it is important to change the phenotype of resident macrophages to prevent inflammation. We previously reported that dried tangerine peel polysaccharide (DTPP) binds to and inhibits the TLR4/MD-2 complex, which is crucial for the inflammatory activation of macrophages, suggesting the potential of DTPP in wound healing applications. Both zebrafish and mouse models were used to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of DTPP. Moreover, we found that DTPP recruited macrophages to the wound area and promoted their M2 repolarization. Using hyperglycaemic zebrafish and db/db mouse models, we discovered that DTPP accelerated wound healing in vivo in metabolic disorders. Our results suggest that DTPP promotes the recruitment of macrophages, shifts macrophages towards the anti-inflammatory M2 phenotype, and ultimately accelerates the wound healing process.

ABSTRACT

SNPCEQer II is a graphical user interface (GUI)-based application that integrates single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) detection, SNP analysis and SNP editing in the Microsoft Windows (R) environment. SNPCEQer II detects SNPs in DNA sequences generated by the Beckman CEQ TM 2000 XL DNA analysis system. It provides tools to analyse SNPs by inspecting and comparing trace data (chromatograms) around putative SNPs with that of other related DNA sequences, and it can search for those SNPs in the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) databases. SNPCEQer II can determine the mutation type of a coding SNP and generate data for submission to the dbSNP database. The SNP report can be edited and printed, as can the chromatograms. SNPCEQer II is implemented in Visual C++.
