RESUMEN
A prospective study of 14 malignant ascites examined with high frequency ultrasonic probes enabled he authors to achieve a diagnosis of peritoneal metastases in 78% of cases. Peritoneal metastases appear as areas of peritoneal thickening or scalloping, as nodules, with sometimes a strong bulging, and as intestinal masses. Soft part ultrasound should be employed systematically in the diagnosis and follow up of malignant ascites.

Splenic infarct during P. falciparum malaria is rare but well known. We report one case where ultrasonography and computed tomography suggested the diagnostic, showing respectively in splenic parenchyma a peripheral hypoechoic lesion and a low attenuation lesion. Diagnostic was confirmed by spontaneous regression during following days. We shall encounter more frequently than nowadays this rare entity due to expanding tourism and P. falciparum resistance.

The correlation of sonography with CT was studied in a series of 19 hepatic angiomas. CT is more specific, since it can demonstrate the vascular nature of the lesion. But it is less sensitive: in three cases it remained negative even after bolus injection of contrast medium. A follow-up strategy, and a decision policy regarding the different examination procedures is discussed.

In about 10% of lymphopathies with extensive retroperitoneal adenopathies, adenopathies are also encountered within the hepatoduodenal ligament. When large, such adenopathies, which surround the portal vein, hepatic artery, and bile duct, give rise to a particular ultrasound pattern: the "rosebud pattern."

A 4 month-old premature infant having received prolonged intensive care for necrotizing enterocolitis and Pseudomonas infection, developed anuria with intrapyelic fungus ball developed in a congenital single kidney. Review of the literature found 19 similar cases and emphasized the difficulty of an early diagnosis and the usefulness of renal ultrasonography for its detection. Moreover the opportunity to treat premature neonates carrying candida albicans with IV amphotericin B and flucytosine before the occurrence of an uneasy treatable urological obstacle in discussed.
