RESUMEN

In maintaining organismal homeostasis, gut immunity plays a crucial role. The coordination between the microbiota and the immune system through bidirectional interactions regulates the impact of microorganisms on the host. Our research focused on understanding the relationships between substantial changes in jejunal intestinal flora and metabolites and intestinal immunity during porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) infection in piglets. We discovered that Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG) could effectively prevent PEDV infection in piglets. Further investigation revealed that LGG metabolites interact with type 3 innate lymphoid cells (ILC3s) in the jejunum of piglets through the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR). This interaction promotes the activation of ILC3s and the production of interleukin-22 (IL-22). Subsequently, IL-22 facilitates the proliferation of IPEC-J2 cells and activates the STAT3 signaling pathway, thereby preventing PEDV infection. Moreover, the AhR receptor influences various cell types within organoids, including intestinal stem cells (ISCs), Paneth cells, and enterocytes, to promote their growth and development, suggesting that AhR has a broad impact on intestinal health. In conclusion, our study demonstrated the ability of LGG to modulate intestinal immunity and effectively prevent PEDV infection in piglets. These findings highlight the potential application of LGG as a preventive measure against viral infections in livestock.IMPORTANCEWe observed high expression of the AhR receptor on pig and human ILC3s, although its expression was negligible in mouse ILC3s. ILC3s are closely related to the gut microbiota, particularly the secretion of IL-22 stimulated by microbial signals, which plays a crucial regulatory role in intestinal immunity. In our study, we found that metabolites produced by beneficial gut bacteria interact with ILC3s through AhR, thereby maintaining intestinal immune homeostasis in pigs. Moreover, LGG feeding can enhance the activation of ILC3s and promote IL-22 secretion in the intestines of piglets, ultimately preventing PEDV infection.

BACKGROUND: Jilin white goose is an excellent local breed in China, with a high annual egg production and laying eggs mainly from February to July each year. The testis, as the only organ that can produce sperm, can affect the sexual maturity and fecundity of male animals. Its growth and development are affected and regulated by a variety of factors. Proteomics is generally applied to identify and quantify proteins in cells and tissues in order to understand the physiological or pathological changes that occur in tissues or cells under specific conditions. Currently, the female poultry reproductive system has been extensively studied, while few related studies focusing on the regulatory mechanism of the reproductive system of male poultry have been conducted. RESULTS: A total of 1753 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) were generated in which there were 594, 391 and 768 different proteins showing differential expression in three stages, Initial of Laying Cycle (ILC), Peak of Laying Cycle (PLC) and End of Laying Cycle (ELC). Furthermore, bioinformatics was used to analyze the DEPs. Gene ontology (GO) enrichment, Clusters of Orthologous Groups (COG), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) and protein-protein interaction (PPI) network analysis were adopted. All DEPs were found to be implicated in multiple biological processes and pathways associated with testicular development, such as renin secretion, Lysosomes, SNARE interactions in vesicle trafficking, the p53 signaling pathway and pathways related to metabolism. Additionally, the reliability of transcriptome results was verified by real-time quantitative PCR by selecting the transcript abundance of 6 selected DEPs at the three stages of the laying cycle. CONCLUSIONS: The funding in this study will provide critical insight into the complex molecular mechanisms and breeding practices underlying the developmental characteristics of testicles in Jilin white goose.

RESUMEN

A starlike heterocyclic molecule containing an electron-deficient nonaaza-core structure and three peripheral isoquinolines locked by three tetracoordinate borons, namely isoquinoline-nona-starazine (QNSA), is synthesized by using readily available reactants through a rather straightforward approach. This new heteroatom-rich QNSA possesses a quasi-planar π-backbone structure, and bears phenyl substituents on borons which protrude on both sides of the π-backbones endowing it with good solubility in common organic solvents. Contrasting to its starphene analogue, QNSA shows intense fluorescence with a quantum yield (PLQY) of up to 62 % in dilute solution.

Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG), a model probiotic strain, plays an important role in immune regulatory activity to prevent and treat intestinal inflammation or diarrhea. However, the effect of the immune modulation of LGG on macrophages to prevent Salmonella infection has not been thoroughly studied. In this study, C57BL/6 mice were pre-administered LGG for 7 days continuously, and then infected with Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhimurium (S. Typhimurium). The results of the in vivo study indicated that LGG could reduce body weight loss, death rate and intestinal inflammatory response caused by S. Typhimurium. LGG also limited S. Typhimurium dissemination to liver and spleen, and thereby protected against infection. In vitro study, we observed that LGG enhanced the phagocytic and bactericidal ability of macrophages and upregulated M1 macrophage characters (e.g. iNOS, NO and IL-12) against S. Typhimurium. In addition, LGG also elevated IL-10 secretion, which was helpful to ameliorate intestinal inflammatory injury caused by S. Typhimurium. In conclusion, LGG could modulate M1 macrophage polarization and offer protective effects against S. Typhimurium infection.

Some protozoa (Plasmodium falciparum, Toxoplasma gondii, etc) are used to treat cancer because they can improve tumour-induced immunosuppression. This study aims to evaluate the antitumour effect of Eimeria stiedae oocyst soluble protein (ESSP). ESSP was extracted, and mice were injected with 5 × 105 CT26 cells in the right axilla, and then, 50 µg of ESSP was intraperitoneally injected for 5 continuous days. The effect of ESSP on tumour immunity was detected by flow cytometry 25 days after the CT26 inoculation. The results showed that ESSP can inhibit the growth of CT26 subcutaneous tumours; significantly increase the expression of MHC I, MHC II, CD80 and CD86 on the surface of splenic dendritic cells; and enhance the level of IL-12 secretion. ESSP induced an increase in the number of NK cells in the mouse spleen, and the levels of IFN-γ and CD107 were upregulated in the NK cells and CD8+ T cells. The number of metastatic nodules in the lung tumours in the mice was significantly reduced, and the number of tubes, area of the loops and total length of the tubes were significantly reduced. ESSP enhances the antitumour immune response and inhibits tumour growth, metastasis and angiogenesis.

BACKGROUND: Simultaneous bilateral femoral neck fractures are extremely rare without obvious injury. Herein, we report the case of a patient on dialysis presenting with bilateral femoral neck fractures, which is a condition with high complication and mortality rates according to a review of the pertinent literature. CASE PRESENTATION: We report the case a 47-year-old female with a history of 8 years of haemodialysis due to polycystic kidney disease who presented with bilateral hip pain during walking. The clinical history and results of physical and radiographic examinations of this patient are shown. Single-stage bilateral hemiarthroplasty was performed after a multidisciplinary team consultation. Three days after the operation, she could ambulate with a walker. The woman gradually regained her previous ability to walk over 6 months after surgery. CONCLUSIONS: A multidisciplinary team consultation for perioperative management is necessary and effective in patients on dialysis. Early diagnosis with prompt surgical treatment could lead to favourable recovery.

With the enormous amount of multi-source data produced by various sensors and feature extraction approaches, multi-view clustering (MVC) has attracted developing research attention and is widely exploited in data analysis. Most of the existing multi-view clustering methods hold on the assumption that all of the views are complete. However, in many real scenarios, multi-view data are often incomplete for many reasons, e.g., hardware failure or incomplete data collection. In this paper, we propose an adaptive weighted graph fusion incomplete multi-view subspace clustering (AWGF-IMSC) method to solve the incomplete multi-view clustering problem. Firstly, to eliminate the noise existing in the original space, we transform complete original data into latent representations which contribute to better graph construction for each view. Then, we incorporate feature extraction and incomplete graph fusion into a unified framework, whereas two processes can negotiate with each other, serving for graph learning tasks. A sparse regularization is imposed on the complete graph to make it more robust to the view-inconsistency. Besides, the importance of different views is automatically learned, further guiding the construction of the complete graph. An effective iterative algorithm is proposed to solve the resulting optimization problem with convergence. Compared with the existing state-of-the-art methods, the experiment results on several real-world datasets demonstrate the effectiveness and advancement of our proposed method.

Video anomaly detection is widely applied in modern society, which is achieved by sensors such as surveillance cameras. This paper learns anomalies by exploiting videos under the fully unsupervised setting. To avoid massive computation caused by back-prorogation in existing methods, we propose a novel efficient three-stage unsupervised anomaly detection method. In the first stage, we adopt random projection instead of autoencoder or its variants in previous works. Then we formulate the optimization goal as a least-square regression problem which has a closed-form solution, leading to less computational cost. The discriminative reconstruction losses of normal and abnormal events encourage us to roughly estimate normality that can be further sifted in the second stage with one-class support vector machine. In the third stage, to eliminate the instability caused by random parameter initializations, ensemble technology is performed to combine multiple anomaly detectors' scores. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first time that unsupervised ensemble technology is introduced to video anomaly detection research. As demonstrated by the experimental results on several video anomaly detection benchmark datasets, our algorithm robustly surpasses the recent unsupervised methods and performs even better than some supervised approaches. In addition, we achieve comparable performance contrast with the state-of-the-art unsupervised method with much less running time, indicating the effectiveness, efficiency, and robustness of our proposed approach.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the changes in the goose embryo transcriptome during feather development. RNA-Sequencing (RNA-Seq) was used to find the transcriptome profiles of feather follicles from three stages of embryonic dorsal skin at embryonic day 13, 18, and 28 (E13, E18, E28). The results showed that 3001, 6634, and 13,780 genes were differently expressed in three stages. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis revealed that differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in E13 vs. E18 were significantly mapped into the GO term of extracellular structure organization and the pathway of extracellular matrix (ECM)-receptor interaction. In E18 vs. E28, the top significantly mapped into GO term was the single-organism developmental process; the pathway was also the ECM-receptor interaction. DEGs in E13 vs. E28 were significantly mapped into the GO term of the multicellular organismal process and the pathway of cell adhesion molecules. Subsequently, the union of DEGs was categorized by succession cluster into eight profiles, which were then grouped into four ideal profiles. Lastly, the seven genes spatio-temporal expression pattern was confirmed by real-time PCR. Our findings advocate that interleukin 20 receptor subunit alpha (IL20RA), interleukin 6 receptor (IL6R), interleukin 1 receptor type 1 (IL-1R1), Wnt family member 3A (WNT3A), insulin-like growth factor binding protein 3 (IGFBP3), bone morphogenetic protein 7 (BMP7), and secreted-frizzled related protein 2 (SFRP2) might possibly play vital roles in skin and feather follicle development and growth processes.

In order to reduce the cost of commercial visible-light photocatalyst, a self-assembly strategy was deployed in producing a Ti-coupled N-embedded chicken feather biochar based catalyst (TINCs). The TINCs were manufactured by blending Ti-contained cross-link agent with hydrolyzed N-embedded chicken feather. These synthesis materials were well characterized with X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared, Scanning electron microscopy, Transmission electron microscope, Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, Surface area analysis and UV-vis absorption spectra. There were multilayered graphene oxide-like structures observed on TINCs, which were similar to the TiO2-graphene oxide material. Correspondingly, the TINCs had presented a 90.91% degradation rate of Rhodamine B under visible-light after 240 min. The corresponding TOC of the solution had dropped by 56.26%. Every slice of TINCs was constituted by multilayered graphene oxide-like framework, interspersing with TiO2 nanoparticles uniformly. Some mechanisms were also analyzed. The cost analysis investigated that TINCs was promising in industrialization.

Rotavirus (RV) infection causes acute, watery dehydrating diarrhea and even death in infants and other young animals, resulting in a severe economic burden; however, little is known about the innate immune mechanisms associated with RV infection. Dendritic cells (DCs), which are professional antigen-presenting cells (APCs), serve as a bridge connecting the innate and adaptive immune system. In this study, the interaction between murine bone marrow-derived DCs (BMDCs) and porcine rotavirus (PRV) was investigated in vitro. Upon stimulation, the expression levels of MHC-II, CD40, CD80, CD86 and CD83 in BMDCs increased in a time-dependent manner, indicating activation and maturation by PRV. In addition, up-regulated Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2), TLR3 and NF-κB increased the production of interleukin-12 and interferon-γ. The PRV-stimulated BMDCs also showed increased stimulatory capacity in mixed lymphocyte reactions and promoted the Th1 subtype response.

KEY MESSAGE: Silencing SlAGL6 in tomato leads to fused sepal and green petal by influencing the expression of A-, B-class genes. AGAMOUS-LIKE6 (AGL6) lineage is an important clade MADS-box transcription factor and plays essential roles in various developmental programs especially in flower meristem and floral organ development. Here, we isolated a tomato AGL6 lineage gene SlAGL6 and successfully obtained several RNA interference (RNAi) lines. Silencing SlAGL6 led to abnormal fused sepals and light green petals with smaller size. The total chlorophyll content in transgenic petals increased and the morphology of epidermis cells altered. Further analysis showed that A-class gene MACROCALYX (MC) participating in sepal development and a NAC-domain gene GOBLET involving in boundary establishment were down-regulated in transgenic lines. In transgenic petals, two chlorophyll synthesis genes, Golden2-like1 (SlGLK1) and Golden2-like2 (SlGLK2), two photosystem-related genes, ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase small chain 3B (SlrbcS3B) and chlorophyll a/b-binding protein 7 (SlCab-7) were induced and three B-class genes TM6, TAP3 and SlGLO1 were repressed. These results suggest that SlAGL6 involves in tomato sepal and petal development.

Selecting proper characteristic lines from enormous spectral intensities is crucially important to implement quantitative analysis of Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy using internal standard method. Manual selecting of characteristic lines by researchers is time consuming and energy consuming, which cannot guarantee the best result. An automatic method to select analytical and reference lines for internal standard method from the original spectra based on Genetic Algorithm was proposed in this paper. This method was utilized to select analytical and reference lines for internal standard methods from LIBS of Mn, Ni, Cr, Si and Fe of low alloy steels. The optimal characteristic lines optimized by this method were the analytical line 403.306 8 nm of Mn and the corresponding reference line 368.745 7 nm of Fe, the analytical line 288.157 7 nm of Si and the corresponding reference line 427.176 1 nm of Fe, the analytical line 286.510 0 nm of Cr and the corresponding reference line 272.753 9 nm of Fe and the analytical line 352.453 6 nm of Ni and the corresponding reference line 358.698 5 nm of Fe, respectively. Then these elements were quantified by the internal standard method using these selected lines. The results showed that this proposed method for selecting characteristic lines can automatically select the optimal analytical and reference lines and could guarantee the best quantitative result obtained by internal standard method.

AIM: Intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR) can affect kidney development, leading to reduction in glomerular number. However, the associated cellular and molecular mechanisms have not been fully elucidated. This study investigated cell apoptosis and Bcl-2 and Bax expression in the kidney of IUGR pups. METHODS: The IUGR model was established in pregnant rats with 10% low-protein diet. Renal cell apoptosis was detected using TUNEL staining. Ki67 protein expression was measured by immunohistochemistry. Bcl-2 and Bax mRNA expression was measured by real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR). RESULTS: Significant decreases in the number of glomeruli was observed in the kidney of IUGR pups 2 and 3 months after birth (P < 0.01). Obvious apoptosis was observed in the kidney in both groups 1 d, 7 d, and 21 d after birth with a peak at 7 d. Significantly higher apoptosis index was observed in the kidney of IUGR pups compared to control pups (P < 0.01). No significant difference in proliferation was observed between the two groups. Significantly lower Bcl-2 mRNA expression, Bcl-2/Bax ratio, and higher Bax mRNA expression were observed in IUGR pups compared to control pups after birth (P < 0.01). CONCLUSION: The reduction in glomerular number in IUGR pups is associated with increase in renal cell apoptosis. The reduction in Bcl-2/Bax ratio may play a crucial role in renal cell apoptosis in IUGR pups.

Recent deterministic learning methods have achieved locally-accurate identification of unknown system dynamics. However, the locally-accurate identification means that the neural networks can only capture the local dynamics knowledge along the system trajectory. In order to capture a broader knowledge region, this article investigates the knowledge fusion problem of deterministic learning, that is, the integration of different knowledge regions along different individual trajectories. Specifically, two kinds of knowledge fusion schemes are systematically introduced: an online fusion scheme and an offline fusion scheme. The online scheme can be viewed as an extension of distributed cooperative learning control to cooperative neural identification for sampled-data systems. By designing an auxiliary information transmission strategy to enable the neural network to receive information learned from other tasks while learning its own task, it is proven that the weights of all localized RBF networks exponentially converge to their common true/ideal values. The offline scheme can be regarded as a knowledge distillation strategy, in which the fused network is obtained by offline training through the knowledge learned from all individual system trajectories via deterministic learning. A novel weight fusion algorithm with low computational complexity is proposed based on the least squares solution under subspace constraints. Simulation studies show that the proposed fusion schemes can successfully integrate the knowledge regions of different individual trajectories while maintaining the learning performance, thereby greatly expanding the knowledge region learned from deterministic learning.

Traditional predictions of microalgal growth states rely on empirical or easily implementable kinetic models, leading to significant biases and elevated cost. This study proposes a kinetic-assisted machine learning method for predicting the growth curve of microalgal biomass under small sample conditions. Firstly, a microalgae growth kinetic model is constructed based on the logistic model. A two-stage kinetic fitting strategy is specified to account for the light-dark ratio. The Box-Behnken method is employed for experimental design. Then, using Two-stage TrAdaboost.R2 algorithm, the kinetic model is utilized as the source domain, and the experimental design data serves as the target domain for training machine learning models. The results indicate that the proposed method outperforms a single machine learning model in terms of prediction and has the potential to rapidly estimate microalgal growth trends under different conditions and accurately predict harvested biomass, potentially reducing the need for laborious, expensive, and time-consuming laboratory trials.

Egg production performance is an important economic trait in the poultry industry. In previous studies, attention has often been paid to the growth and development of the ovaries, while there has been less research on the testicular tissue of male goose. Due to various factors, there are usually significant differences in the process of testicular spermatogenesis among different goose breeds. The Jilin white goose (JL) is a high-production local goose species in China, domesticated from Anser cygnoides, which has a high egg-laying performance and the egg-laying period can last from February to July. In the production of goose within Jilin Province, the female goose of Jilin White goose is considered as an important maternal parent of synthetic lines, and ganders from Hungarian white goose (HU), Wanxi white goose (WX) and Jilin white goose are the main male parents. Each year, all 3 gander species begin to exhibit breeding capacity in February and reach the peak of reproductive capacity by April, marked by high fertilization rates. With the gradual increase in temperature, the testicular tissue of Hungarian and Wanxi goose gradually diminishes in its ability to produce sperm. the testicular tissue undergoes significant shrinkage by the end of June, resulting in a near loss of sperm production capability, thereby yielding low fertilization rates. However, the Jilin White goose demonstrates the ability to maintain a stable sperm production capacity. Individuals with low sperm motility contribute to increased seed production costs and pose constraints on the industrial development of livestock and poultry varieties. In this study, transcriptomics and proteomics data from gooses testicular of 3 different goose breeds inclouding Jilin white goose, Wanxi white gooseand Hungary white goose sampled in 2 stages, peak of laying cycle (PLC) and end of laying cycle (ELC). In a comparative analysis between PLC and ELC groups (ELC vs. PLC) of 3 breeds, we identified 401,340,6651 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and 18,225,323 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs), respectively. Differentially expressed genes and proteins were significantly enriched in Gene Ontology (GO) terms such as phosphotransferase activity, cytoskeletal protein binding, microtubule motor activity, channel activity and carbohydrate metabolic process. The KEGG enrichment analysis of the DEGs in testicular showed that most differentially expressed mRNAs participate in the KEGG pathways, including ECM-receptor interaction, MAPK signaling pathway, carbon metabolism, Cell cycle, VEGF signaling pathway, Lipoic acid metabolism and p53 signaling pathway. The differential expression of 4 selected DEGs (SPAG6, NEK2, HSPA4L, SERF1A) was verified by qRT-PCR, and the results were consistent with RNA-seq data. In conclusion, this study reveals the differences in gene expression regulation in testicular tissues of different goose species, and screening candidate genes and proteins related to spermatogenesis.

The Hungarian White Goose (Anser anser domesticus) is an excellent European goose breed, with high feather and meat production. Despite its importance in the poultry industry, no available genome assembly information has been published. This study aimed to present Chromosome-level and functional genome sequencing of the Hungarian White Goose. The results showed that the genome assembly has a total length of 1115.82 Mb, 39 pairs of chromosomes, 92.98% of the BUSCO index, and contig N50 and scaffold N50 were up to 2.32 Mb and 60.69 Mb, respectively. Annotation of the genome assembly revealed 19550 genes, 286 miRNAs, etc. We identified 235 expanded and 1,167 contracted gene families in this breed compared with the other 16 species. We performed a positive selection analysis between this breed and four species of Anatidae to uncover the genetic information underlying feather follicle development. Further, we detected the function of miR-199-x, miR-143-y, and miR-23-z on goose embryonic skin fibroblast. In summary, we have successfully generated a highly complete genome sequence of the Hungarian white goose, which will provide a great resource to improve our understanding of gene functions and enhance the studies on feather follicle development at the genomic level.

Spermatogenesis is a crucial indicator of geese reproduction performance and production. The testis is the main organ responsible for sperm production, and the egg-laying cycle in geese is a complex physiological process that demands precise orchestration of hormonal cues and cellular events within the testes, however, the seasonal changes in the transcriptomic and proteomic profiles of goose testicles remain unclear. To explore various aspects of the mechanisms of the seasonal cyclicity of testicles in different goose breeds, in this study, we used an integrative transcriptomic and proteomic approach to screen the key genes and proteins in the testes of 2 goose males, the Hungarian white goose and the Wanxi white goose, at 3 different periods of the laying cycle: beginning of laying cycle (BLC), peak of laying cycle (PLC), and end of laying cycle (ELC). The results showed that a total of 9,273 differentially expressed genes and 4,543 differentially expressed proteins were identified in the geese testicles among the comparison groups. The Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analysis suggested that the DEGs, in the comparison groups, were mainly enrichment in metabolic pathways, neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction, cyctokine-cyctokine receptor interaction, calcium signaling pathway, apelin signaling pathway, ether lipid metabolism, cysteine, and methionine metabolism. While the DEPs, in the 3 comparison groups, were mainly involved in the ribosome, metabolic pathways, carbon metabolism, proteasome, endocytosis, lysosome, regulation of actin cytoskeleton, oxidative phosphorylation, nucleocytoplasmic transport, and tight junction. The protein-protein interaction network analysis (PPI) indicated that selected DEPs, such as CHD1L, RAB18, FANCM, TAF5, TSC1/2, PHLDB2, DNAJA2, NCOA5, DEPTOR, TJP1, and RAPGEF2, were highly associated with male reproductive regulation. Further, the expression trends of 4 identified DEGs were validated by qRT-PCR. In conclusion, this work offers a new perspective on comprehending the molecular mechanisms and pathways involved in the seasonal cyclicity of testicles in the Hungarian white goose and the Wanxi white goose, as well as contributing to improving goose reproductive performance.

BACKGROUND: The gut microbiota is a critical factor in the regulation of host health, but the relationship between the differential resistance of hosts to pathogens and the interaction of gut microbes is not yet clear. Herein, we investigated the potential correlation between the gut microbiota of piglets and their disease resistance using single-cell transcriptomics, 16S amplicon sequencing, metagenomics, and untargeted metabolomics. RESULTS: Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) infection leads to significant changes in the gut microbiota of piglets. Notably, Landrace pigs lose their resistance quickly after being infected with PEDV, but transplanting the fecal microbiota of Min pigs to Landrace pigs alleviated the infection status. Macrogenomic and animal protection models identified Lactobacillus reuteri and Lactobacillus amylovorus in the gut microbiota as playing an anti-infective role. Moreover, metabolomic screening of the secondary bile acids' deoxycholic acid (DCA) and lithocholic acid (LCA) correlated significantly with Lactobacillus reuteri and Lactobacillus amylovorus, but only LCA exerted a protective function in the animal model. In addition, LCA supplementation altered the distribution of intestinal T-cell populations and resulted in significantly enriched CD8+ CTLs, and in vivo and in vitro experiments showed that LCA increased SLA-I expression in porcine intestinal epithelial cells via FXR receptors, thereby recruiting CD8+ CTLs to exert antiviral effects. CONCLUSIONS: Overall, our findings indicate that the diversity of gut microbiota influences the development of the disease, and manipulating Lactobacillus reuteri and Lactobacillus amylovorus, as well as LCA, represents a promising strategy to improve PEDV infection in piglets.
