RESUMEN

The combination of optical time transfer and optical clocks opens up the possibility of large-scale free-space networks that connect both ground-based optical clocks and future space-based optical clocks. Such networks promise better tests of general relativity1-3, dark-matter searches4 and gravitational-wave detection5. The ability to connect optical clocks to a distant satellite could enable space-based very long baseline interferometry6,7, advanced satellite navigation8, clock-based geodesy2,9,10 and thousandfold improvements in intercontinental time dissemination11,12. Thus far, only optical clocks have pushed towards quantum-limited performance13. By contrast, optical time transfer has not operated at the analogous quantum limit set by the number of received photons. Here we demonstrate time transfer with near quantum-limited acquisition and timing at 10,000 times lower received power than previous approaches14-24. Over 300 km between mountaintops in Hawaii with launched powers as low as 40 µW, distant sites are synchronized to 320 attoseconds. This nearly quantum-limited operation is critical for long-distance free-space links in which photons are few and amplification costly: at 4.0 mW transmit power, this approach can support 102 dB link loss, more than sufficient for future time transfer to geosynchronous orbits.

Superposition, entanglement and non-locality constitute fundamental features of quantum physics. The fact that quantum physics does not follow the principle of local causality1-3 can be experimentally demonstrated in Bell tests4 performed on pairs of spatially separated, entangled quantum systems. Although Bell tests, which are widely regarded as a litmus test of quantum physics, have been explored using a broad range of quantum systems over the past 50 years, only relatively recently have experiments free of so-called loopholes5 succeeded. Such experiments have been performed with spins in nitrogen-vacancy centres6, optical photons7-9 and neutral atoms10. Here we demonstrate a loophole-free violation of Bell's inequality with superconducting circuits, which are a prime contender for realizing quantum computing technology11. To evaluate a Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt-type Bell inequality4, we deterministically entangle a pair of qubits12 and perform fast and high-fidelity measurements13 along randomly chosen bases on the qubits connected through a cryogenic link14 spanning a distance of 30 metres. Evaluating more than 1 million experimental trials, we find an average S value of 2.0747 ± 0.0033, violating Bell's inequality with a P value smaller than 10-108. Our work demonstrates that non-locality is a viable new resource in quantum information technology realized with superconducting circuits with potential applications in quantum communication, quantum computing and fundamental physics15.

Two decades after its invention, the classic self-referenced frequency comb laser is an unrivalled ruler for frequency, time and distance metrology owing to the rigid spacing of its optical output1,2. As a consequence, it is now used in numerous sensing applications that require a combination of high bandwidth and high precision3-5. Many of these applications, however, are limited by the trade-offs inherent in the rigidity of the comb output and operate far from quantum-limited sensitivity. Here we demonstrate an agile programmable frequency comb where the pulse time and phase are digitally controlled with ±2-attosecond accuracy. This agility enables quantum-limited sensitivity in sensing applications as the programmable comb can be configured to coherently track weak returning pulse trains at the shot-noise limit. To highlight its capabilities, we use this programmable comb in a ranging system, reducing the required power to reach a given precision by about 5,000-fold compared with a conventional dual-comb system. This enables ranging at a mean photon per pulse number of 1/77 while retaining the full accuracy and precision of a rigid frequency comb. Beyond ranging and imaging6-12, applications in time and frequency metrology1,2,5,13-23, comb-based spectroscopy24-32, pump-probe experiments33 and compressive sensing34,35 should benefit from coherent control of the comb-pulse time and phase.

During the transition from a healthy state to cardiometabolic disease, patients become heavily medicated, which leads to an increasingly aberrant gut microbiome and serum metabolome, and complicates biomarker discovery1-5. Here, through integrated multi-omics analyses of 2,173 European residents from the MetaCardis cohort, we show that the explanatory power of drugs for the variability in both host and gut microbiome features exceeds that of disease. We quantify inferred effects of single medications, their combinations as well as additive effects, and show that the latter shift the metabolome and microbiome towards a healthier state, exemplified in synergistic reduction in serum atherogenic lipoproteins by statins combined with aspirin, or enrichment of intestinal Roseburia by diuretic agents combined with beta-blockers. Several antibiotics exhibit a quantitative relationship between the number of courses prescribed and progression towards a microbiome state that is associated with the severity of cardiometabolic disease. We also report a relationship between cardiometabolic drug dosage, improvement in clinical markers and microbiome composition, supporting direct drug effects. Taken together, our computational framework and resulting resources enable the disentanglement of the effects of drugs and disease on host and microbiome features in multimedicated individuals. Furthermore, the robust signatures identified using our framework provide new hypotheses for drug-host-microbiome interactions in cardiometabolic disease.

Becker muscular dystrophy (BMD) is an X-linked disorder due to in-frame mutations in the DMD gene, leading to a less abundant and truncated dystrophin. BMD is less common and severe than Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) as well as less investigated. To accelerate the search for innovative treatments, we developed a rat model of BMD by deleting the exons 45-47 of the Dmd gene. Here, we report a functional and histopathological evaluation of these rats during their first year of life, compared to DMD and control littermates. BMD rats exhibit moderate damage to locomotor and diaphragmatic muscles but suffer from a progressive cardiomyopathy. Single nuclei RNA-seq analysis of cardiac samples revealed shared transcriptomic abnormalities in BMD and DMD rats and highlighted an altered end-addressing of TMEM65 and Connexin-43 at the intercalated disc, along with electrocardiographic abnormalities. Our study documents the natural history of a translational preclinical model of BMD and reports a cellular mechanism for the cardiac dysfunction in BMD and DMD offering opportunities to further investigate the organization role of dystrophin in intercellular communication.

Microbiome community typing analyses have recently identified the Bacteroides2 (Bact2) enterotype, an intestinal microbiota configuration that is associated with systemic inflammation and has a high prevalence in loose stools in humans1,2. Bact2 is characterized by a high proportion of Bacteroides, a low proportion of Faecalibacterium and low microbial cell densities1,2, and its prevalence varies from 13% in a general population cohort to as high as 78% in patients with inflammatory bowel disease2. Reported changes in stool consistency3 and inflammation status4 during the progression towards obesity and metabolic comorbidities led us to propose that these developments might similarly correlate with an increased prevalence of the potentially dysbiotic Bact2 enterotype. Here, by exploring obesity-associated microbiota alterations in the quantitative faecal metagenomes of the cross-sectional MetaCardis Body Mass Index Spectrum cohort (n = 888), we identify statin therapy as a key covariate of microbiome diversification. By focusing on a subcohort of participants that are not medicated with statins, we find that the prevalence of Bact2 correlates with body mass index, increasing from 3.90% in lean or overweight participants to 17.73% in obese participants. Systemic inflammation levels in Bact2-enterotyped individuals are higher than predicted on the basis of their obesity status, indicative of Bact2 as a dysbiotic microbiome constellation. We also observe that obesity-associated microbiota dysbiosis is negatively associated with statin treatment, resulting in a lower Bact2 prevalence of 5.88% in statin-medicated obese participants. This finding is validated in both the accompanying MetaCardis cardiovascular disease dataset (n = 282) and the independent Flemish Gut Flora Project population cohort (n = 2,345). The potential benefits of statins in this context will require further evaluation in a prospective clinical trial to ascertain whether the effect is reproducible in a randomized population and before considering their application as microbiota-modulating therapeutics.

BACKGROUND: Analytical treatment interruption (ATI) is the gold standard in HIV research for assessing the capability of new therapeutic strategies to control viremia without antiretroviral treatment (ART). The viral setpoint is commonly used as endpoint to evaluate their efficacy. However, in line with recommendations from a consensus meeting, to minimize the risk of increased viremia without ART, trials often implement short ATI phases and stringent virological ART restart criteria. This approach can limit the accurate observation of the setpoint. METHODS: We analyzed viral dynamics in 235 people with HIV from 3 trials, examining virological criteria during ATI phases. Time-related (eg time to rebound, peak, and setpoint) and viral load magnitude-related criteria (peak, setpoint, and time-averaged AUC [nAUC]) were described. Spearman correlations were analyzed to identify (1) surrogate endpoints for setpoint and (2) optimal virological ART restart criteria mitigating the risks of ART interruption and the evaluation of viral control. RESULTS: Comparison of virological criteria between trials showed strong dependencies on ATI design. Similar correlations were found across trials, with nAUC the most strongly correlated with the setpoint, with correlations >0.70. A threshold >100 000 copies/mL for 2 consecutive measures is requested as a virological ART restart criterion. CONCLUSIONS: Our results are in line with recommendations and emphasize the benefits of an ATI phase >12 weeks, with regular monitoring, and a virological ART restart criterion of 10 000 copies/mL to limit the risk for patients while capturing enough information to keep nAUC as an optimal proxy to the setpoint.

It is well known that the set of statistics that can be observed in a Bell-type experiment is limited by quantum theory. Unfortunately, tools are missing to identify the precise boundary of this set. Here, we propose to study the set of quantum statistics from a dual perspective. By considering all Bell expressions saturated by a given realization, we show that the Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt expression can be decomposed in terms of extremal Tsirelson inequalities that we identify. This brings novel insight into the geometry of the quantum set in the (2,2,2) scenario. Furthermore, this allows us to identify all the Bell expressions that are able to self-test the Tsirelson realization.

Hybrid poly-ion complexes were synthesized through the complexation of a double hydrophilic copolymer with Ce(III) ions. These colloids act as reservoirs for cerium ions, enabling the synthesis of cerium-based Prussian blue nanoparticles with a cubic structure, a narrow size distribution around 100 nm, and good colloidal stability in water. Upon high-temperature calcination, these nanoparticles are transformed into a cerium/iron-based metal oxide catalyst (CeO2/Fe2O3). The resultant composite catalyst demonstrates superior performance in the photo-Fenton oxidation of methylene blue pollutants, achieving a conversion efficiency that rivals other metal-based oxides and cerium-based catalysts.

INTRODUCTION: Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) have an increased risk of stroke, and CKD seems associated with worse outcome after a stroke. The main objective of our study RISOTTO was to evaluate the influence of CKD and acute kidney injury (AKI) on the clinical outcome and mortality of ischemic stroke patients after thrombolysis and/or thrombectomy. METHODS: This multicenter cohort study included patients in the acute phase of ischemic stroke due to large artery occlusion managed by thrombectomy. Functional outcome at 3 months was assessed by the modified Rankin Scale (mRS). RESULTS: 280 patients were included in the analysis. Fifty-nine patients (22.6%) had CKD. At 3 months, CKD was associated with similar functional prognosis (mRS 3-6: 50.0% vs. 41.7%, p = 0.262) but higher mortality (24.2% versus 9.5%, p = 0.004). In univariate analysis, patients with CKD had a higher burden of white matter hyperintensities (Fazekas score: 1.7 ± 0.8 vs. 1.0 ± 0.8, p = 0.002), lower initial infarct volume with equivalent severity, and lower recanalization success (86.4% vs. 97.0%, p = 0.008) compared to non-CKD patients. Forty-seven patients (20.0%) developed AKI. AKI was associated with poorer 3-month functional outcome (mRS 3-6: 63.8% vs. 49.0%, p = 0.002) and mortality (23.4% versus 7.7%, p = 0.002). In multivariate analysis, AKI appeared as an independent risk factor for poor functional outcome (mRS 3-6: adjOR 2.79 [1.11-7.02], p = 0.029) and mortality (adjOR 2.52 [1.03-6.18], p = 0.043) at 3 months, while CKD was not independently associated with 3-month mortality and poor neurological outcome. CONCLUSIONS: AKI is independently associated with poorer functional outcome and increased mortality at 3 months. CKD was not an independent risk factor for 3-month mortality or poor functional prognosis.

Homopolymers of poly[N-(2-(diethylamino)ethyl) acrylamide] exhibit the ability to adsorb onto the surface of preformed or growing gold nanoparticles. The resulting hybrid materials possess a pH and thermo-sensitive nature. Consequently, their optical properties can be modulated by manipulating either the temperature or the pH. Moreover, introducing monomers based on poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide) into block or random statistical polymers enables further modulation of the thermosensitive properties. These copolymers, employed for the in-situ synthesis and/or stabilization of gold nanoparticles, lead to hybrid materials whose properties and/or particle size depend on the polymer composition and microstructure: statistical polymers emerge as superior stabilizing agents compared to their block counterparts at a constant composition.

BACKGROUND: We assessed the prognostic value of serological humoral markers measured one month after the last dose of the primary COVID-19 vaccine course for predicting the risk of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 SARS-CoV-2 infection over the following six months in specific populations. METHODS: ANRS0001SCOV-POPART is a French nationwide multicenter prospective observational cohort study assessing the immune response to Covid-19 vaccines routinely administered to 11 subgroups of patients with chronic disease and a control group. Participants from the ANRS0001S COV-POPART were included if they received at least two doses of Covid-19 vaccine for the primary vaccine course, had measurements of anti-Spike, anti-receptor binding domain (RBD) IgG-specific or neutralizing antibodies one month after the end of the primary vaccine course, without being infected by SARS-CoV-2 before the measurement. SARS-CoV-2 infections defined by a positive PCR/antigenic test or seroconversion to detectable anti nucleocapsid antibodies were evaluated until the first COVID-19 booster injection. Cox proportional hazards models taking into account interval-censored data were implemented to estimate the association between each antibody level and the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Predictive performances were evaluated by the area under the receiving operating characteristic curve (AUROC). RESULTS: Two thousand five hundred seventy adults from a specific population and 1,123 from the control group were included. The cumulative probabilities of SARS-CoV-2 infections at five months after serological measurement were 6.0% 95% confidence interval: [5.0; 7.9] and 10.1% 95% confidence interval: [8.3; 11.9], respectively. Higher levels of anti-Spike IgG antibody were associated with a lower risk of SARS-CoV-2 infections in the control group, but not in the specific populations. Among the specific populations, AUROC were 74.5%, 74.9%, and 72.4% for anti-Spike IgG, anti-RBD IgG, and neutralizing antibodies, respectively. AUROC were superior in the specific populations, 82.0%, 81.2%, and 81.4% for anti-Spike IgG, anti-RBD IgG, and neutralizing antibodies, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Vaccine-induced antibody response after the primary course of Covid-19 infection only moderately discriminated between participants developing a SARS-CoV-2 infection during the Omicron wave. The persistence of a leaky gut in HIV-treated patients leads to chronic inflammation with increased rates of cardiovascular, liver, kidney, and neurological diseases. Tissue regulatory T (tTreg) cells are involved in the maintenance of intestinal homeostasis and wound repair through the IL-33 pathway. In this study, we investigated whether the persistence of gut mucosal injury during HIV infection might be explained in part by a flaw in the mechanisms involved in tissue repair. We observed an increased level of IL-33 in the gut of HIV-infected patients, which is associated with an increased level of fibrosis and a low peripheral reconstitution of CD4+ T cells. Our results showed that intestinal Treg cells from HIV-infected patients were enriched in tTreg cells prone to support tissue repair. However, we observed a functional defect in tTreg cells caused by the lack of amphiregulin secretion, which could contribute to the maintenance of intestinal damage. Our data suggest a mechanism by which the lack of amphiregulin secretion by tTreg may contribute to the lack of repair of the epithelial barrier.

Heterologous prime-boost strategies are of interest for HIV vaccine development. The order of prime-boost components could be important for the induction of T cell responses. In this phase I/II multi-arm trial, three vaccine candidates were used as prime or boost: modified vaccinia Ankara (MVA) HIV-B (coding for Gag, Pol, Nef); HIV LIPO-5 (five lipopeptides from Gag, Pol, Nef); DNA GTU-MultiHIV B (coding for Rev, Nef, Tat, Gag, Env gp160 clade B). Healthy human volunteers (n = 92) were randomized to four groups: 1) MVA at weeks 0/8 + LIPO-5 at weeks 20/28 (M/L); 2) LIPO-5 at weeks 0/8 + MVA at weeks 20/28 (L/M); 3) DNA at weeks 0/4/12 + LIPO-5 at weeks 20/28 (G/L); 4) DNA at weeks 0/4/12 + MVA at weeks 20/28 (G/M). The frequency of IFN-γ-ELISPOT responders at week 30 was 33, 43, 0, and 74%, respectively. Only MVA-receiving groups were further analyzed (n = 62). Frequency of HIV-specific cytokine-positive (IFN-γ, IL-2, or TNF-α) CD4+ T cells increased significantly from week 0 to week 30 (median change of 0.06, 0.11, and 0.10% for M/L, L/M, and G/M, respectively), mainly after MVA vaccinations, and was sustained until week 52. HIV-specific CD8+ T cell responses increased significantly at week 30 in M/L and G/M (median change of 0.02 and 0.05%). Significant whole-blood gene expression changes were observed 2 wk after the first MVA injection, regardless of its use as prime or boost. An MVA gene signature was identified, including 86 genes mainly related to cell cycle pathways. Three prime-boost strategies led to CD4+ and CD8+ T cell responses and to a whole-blood gene expression signature primarily due to their MVA HIV-B component.

BACKGROUND: Intravenous steroid pulses (SP) are successfully used for the treatment of patients with idiopathic nephrotic syndrome (INS) resistant to oral prednisone. METHODS: We performed a retrospective analysis of all patients in the three pediatric nephrology centers of the Paris region from 2002 to 2022 who were resistant to a 30-day course of oral prednisone and who received SP for their first INS flare and analyzed their disease course over 4 years. RESULTS: Forty-seven patients (17 girls), median age 3.4 years, were analyzed. Of them, 68% reached remission within 7 days of SP. No significant short-term side effects were noted. Half of the patients started immunosuppressive treatment immediately after their first remission and 62% of them relapsed at least once, whereas all the patients who did not receive immunosuppressive treatment since their first remission relapsed. Among the SP-sensitive patients, 75% needed calcineurin inhibitor (CNI) or B-cell depletion during their disease course to achieve stable remission. Forty-two percent of the whole cohort received B-cell-depleting agents. Among the 15 SP-resistant patients, all received CNI. Twelve/fifteen patients reached remission. After 4 years, 68% among the SP-sensitive patients and 87% of SP-resistant patients still had an active disease. CONCLUSIONS: SP are helpful to obtain rapid remission in pediatric INS patients resistant to oral steroids. However, as most SP-sensitive patients need immunosuppressive drugs, mainly CNI and B-cell-depleting agents it could be interesting to discuss the possibility to start CNI directly after the 30-day course of prednisone instead of SP.

BACKGROUND: Tubulointerstitial lesions and glomerular inflammation severity have been shown to correlate with proteinuria in children with IgA nephropathy (cIgAN). However, there is a lack of data regarding severity of histopathologic findings in cIgAN in patients with minimal to absent proteinuria since kidney biopsy indications are not well defined in these cases. METHODS: Twenty-eight cIgAN patients with kidney biopsy from 4 different centers in Paris (France) and Montreal (Canada) with a urine protein/creatinine ratio (UPCr) ≤ 0.03 g/mmol and a normal estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR > 90 ml/min/1.73 m2) on the day of kidney biopsy prior to treatment were included. RESULTS: Median age was 11.82 (9.32-13.45) years, and median follow-up was 4 years (2.87-6.53). At time of biopsy, median eGFR was 116 (102.3-139.7) ml/min/1.73 m2, and median UPCr was 0.02 (0.011-0.03) g/mmol. Microscopic or macroscopic hematuria was present in 35.7% and 64.3% of cases, respectively. Kidney biopsy microscopy analysis showed mesangial (M1), endocapillary (E1), or extracapillary (C1) hypercellularity in 53.5%, 32.1%, and 7.1% of patients, respectively. Chronic histological lesions were also present: glomerulosclerosis (S1) in 42.8% and tubular atrophy/interstitial fibrosis in 7.1%. Podocytopathic features were detected in 21.4%. An ACE inhibitor or immunosuppressive therapy (IS) was prescribed in 42.8% and 21.4% of these patients respectively. One-third (35.7%) received no treatment. At last follow-up, median eGFR was 111.9 (90.47-136.1) ml/min/1.73 m2, and median UPCr was 0.028 (0.01-0.03) g/mmol. CONCLUSION: cIgAN with minimal proteinuria at time of biopsy might be linked with acute and chronic glomerular lesions.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: It is uncommon to combine critical ethnography with critical discourse analysis (CDA) in health research, yet this combination has promise for managing challenges inherent in critical mental health nursing research. OBJECTIVES: This article describes a methodologically innovative way to address issues that arise in the context of critical mental health nursing research. METHODS: This article draws on two studies that each employed a combination of critical ethnography and CDA in the context of mental health nursing research, discussing the challenges and implications of this approach. RESULTS: Although the combination critical ethnography and CDA presents several challenges, it also provides a framework for researchers to sustain a critically reflective stance throughout the research process. This facilitates the process of reanalyzing and reflecting on how healthcare practices and knowledge both support and are constrained by hegemonic discourses. DISCUSSION: This combination has the potential to facilitate the production of new, emancipatory knowledge that will assist nurses in understanding issues of structural inequity within the healthcare system.

SIGNIFICANCE STATEMENT: Autophagy protects podocytes from injury in diabetic kidney disease (DKD). Restoring glomerular autophagy is a promising approach to limit DKD. This study demonstrates a novel regulatory mechanism of autophagy that blocks this critical protection of the glomerular filtration barrier. We demonstrated that TRPC6 induced in podocytes in mouse models of diabetes mediates calpain activation, thereby impairing podocyte autophagy, causing injury and accelerating DKD. Furthermore, this study provides proof of principle for druggable targets for DKD because restoration of podocyte autophagy by calpain inhibitors effectively limits glomerular destruction. BACKGROUND: Diabetic kidney disease is associated with impaired podocyte autophagy and subsequent podocyte injury. The regulation of podocyte autophagy is unique because it minimally uses the mTOR and AMPK pathways. Thus, the molecular mechanisms underlying the impaired autophagy in podocytes in diabetic kidney disease remain largely elusive. METHODS: This study investigated how the calcium channel TRPC6 and the cysteine protease calpains deleteriously affect podocyte autophagy in diabetic kidney disease in mice. We demonstrated that TRPC6 knockdown in podocytes increased the autophagic flux because of decreased cysteine protease calpain activity. Diabetic kidney disease was induced in vivo using streptozotocin with unilateral nephrectomy and the BTBR ob/ob mouse models. RESULTS: Diabetes increased TRPC6 expression in podocytes in vivo with decreased podocyte autophagic flux. Transgenic overexpression of the endogenous calpain inhibitor calpastatin, as well as pharmacologic inhibition of calpain activity, normalized podocyte autophagic flux, reduced nephrin loss, and prevented the development of albuminuria in diabetic mice. In kidney biopsies from patients with diabetes, we further confirmed that TRPC6 overexpression in podocytes correlates with decreased calpastatin expression, autophagy blockade, and podocyte injury. CONCLUSIONS: Overall, we discovered a new mechanism that connects TRPC6 and calpain activity to impaired podocyte autophagy, increased podocyte injury, and development of proteinuria in the context of diabetic kidney disease. Therefore, targeting TRPC6 and/or calpain to restore podocyte autophagy might be a promising therapeutic strategy for diabetic kidney disease.

AIMS: To explore youth, caregiver and staff perspectives on their vision of trauma-informed care, and to identify and understand potential considerations for the implementation of a trauma-informed care programme in an inpatient mental health unit within a paediatric hospital. DESIGN AND METHODS: We applied the Interpretive Description approach, guided by complexity theory and the Implementation Roadmap, and used Applied Thematic Analysis methods. FINDINGS: Twenty-five individuals participated in individual or group interviews between March and June 2022, including 21 healthcare professionals, 3 youth and 1 caregiver. We identified two overarching themes. The first theme, 'Understanding and addressing the underlying reasons for distress', related to participants' understanding and vision of TIC in the current setting comprising: (a) 'Participants' understanding of TIC'; (b) 'Trauma screening and trauma processing within TIC'; (c) 'Taking "a more individualized approach"'; (d) 'Unit programming'; and (e) "Connecting to the community". The second theme, 'Factors that support or limit successful TIC implementation' comprises: (a) 'The need for a broad "cultural shift"'; (b) 'The physical environment on the unit'; and (c) 'Factors that may limit successful implementation'. CONCLUSION: We identified five key domains to consider within trauma-informed care implementation: (a) the centrality of engagement with youth, caregivers and staff in trauma-informed care delivery and implementation, (b) trauma-informed care core programme components, (c) factors that may support or limit success in implementing trauma-informed care within the mental health unit and (d) hospital-wide and (e) the importance of intersectoral collaboration (partnering with external organizations and sectors). IMPACT: When implementing TIC, there is an ongoing need to increase clarity regarding TIC interventions and implementation initiatives. Youth, caregiver and healthcare professional participants shared considerations important for planning the delivery and implementation of trauma-informed care in their setting. We identified five key domains to consider within trauma-informed care implementation: (a) the centrality of relational engagement, (b) trauma-informed care programme components, (c) factors that may support or limit successful implementation of trauma-informed care within the mental health unit and (d) hospital-wide and (e) the importance of intersectoral collaboration. Organizations wishing to implement trauma-informed care should consider ongoing engagement with all relevant knowledge user groups throughout the process. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, many healthcare and social services professionals have had to provide services through virtual care. In the workplace, such professionals often need to be sufficiently resourced to collaborate and address collaborative care barriers in telehealth. We performed a scoping review to identify the competencies required to support interprofessional collaboration among clinicians in telehealth. We followed Arksey and O'Malley's and the Joanna Briggs Institute's methodological guidelines, including quantitative and qualitative peer-reviewed articles published between 2010 and 2021. We expanded our data sources by searching for any organization or experts in the field via Google. The analysis of the resulting thirty-one studies and sixteen documents highlighted that health and social services professionals are generally unaware of the competencies they need to develop or maintain interprofessional collaboration in telehealth. In an era of digital innovations, we believe this gap may jeopardize the quality of the services offered to patients and needs to be addressed. Of the six competency domains in the National Interprofessional Competency Framework, it was observed that interprofessional conflict resolution was the competency that emerged least as an essential competency to be developed, while interprofessional communication and patient/client/family/community-centered care were identified as the two most reported essential competencies.
