RESUMEN

The treatment course of a 29-year-old infertile woman using hMG and TDI was the cause of a sextuplet pregnancy in which a successful embryo reduction was carried out during the first trimester. The reduction was performed twice: the first around the 9th week of pregnancy transvaginally, and the second during the 12th week by transabdominal puncture. The perinatal outcome was favorable, and the patient spontaneously delivered a healthy infant on the 39th week of pregnancy.

RESUMEN

Two cases of gonadal dysgenesis and stigmata of Turner's syndrome with ring chromosome X are described. Their features support the idea that ring chromosome X should be considered as a deletion in the genetic sense, affecting both the gonadal and statural determinants. Without knowing the cytogenetic findings, these patients are usually labeled as having Turner's syndrome. Furthermore, endocrine data and histologic examination of the gonads are indistinguishable from those of individuals with 45,X or 46XX gonadal dysgenesis.

RESUMEN

A case of mosaic tetrasomy 12p was detected in amniotic fluid cell cultures from a 28-year-old woman referred to us at 26 weeks' gestation because of hydramnios. The fetus was shown on ultrasonography to have an omphalocele and a short femur length. Labour was induced at 32 weeks. An infant with multiple congenital anomalies was delivered and died after 10 min. The diagnosis of i(12p) or Pallister-Killian syndrome was confirmed cytogenetically in fibroblast and lymphocyte cultures. Increased LDH-B activity was demonstrated in fibroblasts.

RESUMEN

PIP: 35 patients between 20-40 were sterilized for strictly medical reasons, mostly cardiopathies and nephropathies. Patients with cardiac problems had parity over 2-3; patients with nephritic problems had parity over 1; nulliparous patients were sterilized to prevent hereditary diseases. The technique used was bilateral tubaric coagulation, followed by double tubal section. No complications were reported, except 1 tubal pregnancy 2 months after sterilization.^ieng

RESUMEN

A series of 6 ovarian pregnancies out of 369 ectopic (1.65/100 tubal) were selected to evaluate the fertility and contraception of patients with this rare condition. Mean patients' age was 28.5 years, mean previous parity was 1.5 children and all but one were using some sort of contraception (four had an IUD inserted and one had a previous laparoscopic tubal ligation). Clinical features on admission were as reported for the ectopic pregnancy and surgical findings at laparotomy showed an otherwise intact tubes. Postoperative further contraception was used by four patients and the two non-users became pregnant easily within an 18 month period. We conclude that ovarian pregnancy is an accident which occurs in a rather fertile population with an intact genital tract and who were using intrauterine contraceptive devices. Postoperative reproduction performance shows a high fertility rate in those patients who were not using any contraceptives at all.
