RESUMEN

The interaction between the intrinsic polarity of the host material and the TADF guest material affects charge injection and transport, exciton formation, charge recombination, and emission mechanisms. Therefore, understanding and controlling the interaction between the intrinsic polarity of the host material and the TADF guest material is very important to realize efficient TADF-OLED devices. This study investigated the molecular interaction between different polar host materials and a thermally activated delayed fluorescence material (DMAc-PPM). It has been found that interaction between the host and guest (π-π stacking interaction, multiple CH/π contacts) greatly influence the molecular transition dipole moment orientation of the guest. And the OLED devices based on the strong polar host (DPEPO) exhibited the highest EQEmax and lowest luminescence intensity, while devices using the weaker polar hosts mCP and CBP achieved higher luminance and lower EQEmax. Then, the strong polar host DPEPO was mixed with the weaker polar hosts CBP and mCP, respectively. The devices prepared based on the mixed-host DPEPO: mCP showed a 2.2 times improvement in EQEmax from 6.3% to 20.1% compared to the single-host mCP. The devices prepared based on the mixed-host DPEPO: CBP showed a 3.1 times improvement in luminance intensity from 1023 cd/m2 to 4236 cd/m2 compared to the single host of DPEPO. This suggests that optimizing the polarity of host materials has the potential to enhance the performance of solution prepared OLED devices.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the role of the oral and gut microbiome related to systemic metabolism and clinical parameters in various types of kidney stone disease. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We conducted a case-control study by analyzing 16S rRNA and untargeted metabolomics profiling of 76 fecal, 68 saliva, 73 urine, and 43 serum samples from 76 participants aged 18-75 years old. The participants included 15 patients with uric acid stones, 41 patients with calcium oxalate stones, and 20 healthy controls. Correlations among microbiome, metabolism, and clinical parameters were identified through Spearman's correlation analysis. (Clinical trial No. ChiCTR2200055316). RESULTS: Patients with uric acid stones exhibited reduced richness and diversity in their microbiome, as well as altered composition in both oral and gut microbiome. Furthermore, their fecal samples showed lower relative abundances of Bacteroides and Lachnospiraceae, while their saliva samples showed higher relative abundances of Porphyromonas and Neisseria. Predicted KEGG metabolism pathways, including amino acid and fatty acid metabolisms, were significantly altered in subjects with uric acid stones. Oral, gut microbiota, and metabolism were also associated with low water intake and urine pH. The area under the curve (AUC) of the specific microbiota and metabolite prediction models was over 0.85. CONCLUSION: The structure and composition of the oral and gut microbiome in different types of kidney stone disease, the correlations between oral and gut microbiome, and the associations among oral and gut microbiota, systemic metabolism and clinical parameters imply an important role that the oral and gut microbiome may play in kidney stone disease.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the risk factors and maternal and fetal outcomes of preeclampsia after pregnancy in patients with primary chronic hypertension. METHODS: A total of 500 singleton pregnant women with a history of hypertension who were admitted for delivery at our Hospital from March 2015 to May 2022 were retrospectively collected by random sampling and divided into the non-occurrence group (n = 200) and the occurrence group (n = 300) according to whether they were complicated by preeclampsia. Afterward, the general data and the pregnancy-related data of patients were collected for comparison. RESULTS: The univariate analysis showed significant differences between the non-occurrence group and the occurrence group in terms of the proportion of preeclampsia history (4.00% VS 24.67%, χ2 = 37.383, P < 0.001), duration of hypertension > 3 years (18.00% VS 31.67%, χ2 = 11.592, P < 0.001), systemic therapy (20.50% VS 10.00%, χ2 = 10.859, P < 0.001), gestational age at admission [37.72 (34.10, 38.71) VS 35.01 (31.91, 37.42) weeks, Z = -9.825, P < 0.001]. Meanwhile, the multivariate analysis showed that a history of preeclampsia (OR = 6.796, 95% CI: 3.575 ∼ 10.134, χ2 = 8.234, P < 0.001), duration of hypertension > 3 years (OR = 3.456, 95% CI: 2.157 ∼ 5.161, χ2 = 9.348, P < 0.001), and a lack of systemic antihypertensive treatment (OR = 8.983, 95% CI: 7.735 ∼ 9.933, χ2 = 9.123, P < 0.001) were risk factors for chronic hypertension complicated by preeclampsia during pregnancy. CONCLUSION: A history of preeclampsia, a longer duration of hypertension, and a lack of systematic antihypertensive treatment are risk factors for chronic hypertension complicated by preeclampsia during pregnancy. The occurrence of preeclampsia in pregnant women with chronic hypertension increases the incidence of maternal HELLP syndrome and fetal distress.

RESUMEN

Exosomes have a crucial role in intercellular communication and mediate interactions between tumor cells and tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs). Exosome-encapsulated non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) are involved in various physiological processes. Tumor-derived exosomal ncRNAs induce M2 macrophage polarization through signaling pathway activation, signal transduction, and transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation. Conversely, TAM-derived exosomal ncRNAs promote tumor proliferation, metastasis, angiogenesis, chemoresistance, and immunosuppression. MicroRNAs induce gene silencing by directly targeting mRNAs, whereas lncRNAs and circRNAs act as miRNA sponges to indirectly regulate protein expressions. The role of ncRNAs in tumor-host interactions is ubiquitous. Current research is increasingly focused on the tumor microenvironment. On the basis of the "cancer-immunity cycle" hypothesis, we discuss the effects of exosomal ncRNAs on immune cells to induce T cell exhaustion, overexpression of programmed cell death ligands, and create a tumor immunosuppressive microenvironment. Furthermore, we discuss potential applications and prospects of exosomal ncRNAs as clinical biomarkers and drug delivery systems.

RESUMEN

Recently, Coiled-coil serine-rich protein 1 (CCSER1) gene is reported to be related to economic traits in livestock, and become a hotspot. In our study, we detected CCSER1 gene CNV in 693 goats from six breeds (GZB, GZW, AN, BH, HG, TH) by quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) and the association analysis between the types of CNV and growth traits. Then, CCSER1 gene expression pattern was discovered in seven tissues from NB goats. Our results showed that the CCSER1 gene copy numbers were distributed differently in the aforementioned six breeds. The type of CCSER1 gene CNV was significantly associated with body weight and heart girth traits in GZW goat, in which individuals with deletion type were dominant in body weight trait (P < 0.05), while the normal type individuals were more advantageous in heart girth trait (P < 0.01); and there was a significant association with heart girth in TH goat (P < 0.05), which normal type was the dominant one. The expression profile revealed that CCSER1 gene has the highest level in the lung, followed by the small intestine and heart. In conclusion, our result is dedicated to an in-depth study of the novel CCSER1 gene CNV site and to provide essential information for Chinese goats molecular selective breeding in the future.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To compare the values and the relationship of tibial tubercle lateralization measurements between computerized tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). METHODS: Sixty patients with patellar dislocation who underwent both CT and MRI of the same knee joint from November 2021 to February 2022 were included in our study. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and Bland-Altman analysis were performed to evaluate the reliability of tibial tubercle-trochlear groove (TT-TG), tibial tubercle-Roman arch (TT-RA), and tibial tubercle-posterior cruciate ligament (TT-PCL) distance measurements. The values of CT and MRI measurements using the same bony landmarks were compared for the difference. Pearson correlation analysis and linear regression analysis were performed to assess the correlation between CT and MRI measurements. Finally, the estimated values obtained from the regression equation were compared with the actual values obtained from the radiological measurement to evaluate the accuracy of the equations. RESULTS: A total of 60 patients with patellar dislocation who underwent both CT and MRI of the same knee joint were included in this study. The included measurements showed excellent agreement with ICCs > 0.9. TT-TG distance measured on CT (19.5 ± 5.1 mm) had a mean of 7.1 mm higher than that on MRI (12.4 ± 4.7 mm) (P < 0.001). The mean value of TT-RA distance was 22.5 ± 3.7 mm on CT and 16.7 ± 4.9 mm on MRI (P < 0.001), showing a mean difference of 5.8 mm. The values of TT-TG distance measured by CT and MRI were significantly correlated (R = 0.5, P < 0.001). The values of TT-RA distance between these two modalities showed a better correlation than that of TT-TG distance (R = 0.6, P < 0.001). The interchange values of TT-TG distance and TT-RA distance between CT and MRI can be obtained using regression equations (TT-TG distance: y = 0.6x + 12.3; TT-RA distance: y = 0.5x + 14.4). CONCLUSION: The values of tibial tubercle lateralization measured by MRI may be underestimated compared with those measured by CT. Although the values measured on CT and MRI are not equivalent, the value in the other modality can be estimated. Therefore, an additional CT scan for tibial tubercle lateralization evaluation may not be necessary. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Level II.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To verify that lateral trochlear inclination (LTI) measured by the transepicondylar axis can reliably be used to evaluate trochlear dysplasia (TD) on MRI and can serve as an objective indication of trochleoplasty for patients with lateral patellar dislocation (LPD). METHODS: Eighty patients with recurrent LPD and eighty healthy subjects were included. TD, posterior condylar angle (PCA), and LTI measured by the posterior condylar reference line (LTIp), surgical transepicondylar axis (LTIs), and anatomical transepicondylar axis (LTIa) were assessed on MRI. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and Bland-Altman analysis were performed, the correlations and differences amongst the parameters were identified, and a binary logistic regression model was established. RESULTS: Each measurement had excellent inter- and intra-observer agreement. The LTIp, LTIs and LTIa were smaller in the study group than in the control group, with mean differences of 9.0°, 7.2° and 7.0°, respectively (P < 0.001). The PCA was larger in patients with LPD than in the control group (P < 0.001). LTIp was associated with PCA in the study group (r = - 0.41, P < 0.001). The pathological values of LTIp, LTIs and LTIa were 11.7°, 15.3° and 17.4°, respectively. LTIs and LTIa were independent risk factors for LPD, with ORs of 7.33 (95% CI [1.06-52.90], P = 0.048) and 10.29 (95% CI [1.38-76.96], P = 0.023), respectively. CONCLUSION: The LTI can be reliably measured by MRI, but LTIp could potentially decrease the recorded value from the actual inclination angle. LTIs and LTIa are more appropriate to serve as trochleoplasty indications for patients with LPD, which could help orthopedists with surgical decision-making. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Level III.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: To verify tibial tubercle-Roman arch (TT-RA) distance is superior to tibial tubercle-trochlear groove (TT-TG) distance in preoperative assessment of patellofemoral joints in patients with knee osteoarthritis. METHODS: Patients with knee osteoarthritis from 2016 to 2020 were considered eligible for inclusion in this study. We divided the patients into valgus group and varus group and did 1:1 matching for the two groups. We measured the TT-TG distance, TT-RA distance, patellar height, patella tilt, hip-knee-ankle (HKA) angle, and Iwano's classification of patellofemoral osteoarthritis (PFOA) by computed tomography images or radiographs. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of each measurement, the correlations and differences among the parameters, and binary logistic regression analysis were conducted. RESULTS: Each group in this study included 75 knees. The inter-observer and intra-observer reliability of the TT-TG distance decreased with the increasing degree of PFOA (ICC < 0.75). The reliability of the TT-RA distance showed excellent agreement in different stages of Iwano's classification. The HKA angle was poorly correlated with the TT-TG distance (r = 0.34, p = 0.003) and the TT-RA distance (r = 0.39, p = 0.001) in valgus knees. As the HKA angle increased by 1 degree, the TT-TG and TT-RA distance increased by nearly 0.45 mm and 0.61 mm, respectively. Valgus malalignment and severe PFOA revealed significant ORs of 3.26 (95% CI [1.06-10.03], p = 0.036) and 3.10 (95% CI [1.01-9.54], p = 0.048) with regard to pathological TT-RA distance, respectively. CONCLUSION: The TT-RA distance was more reliable than the TT-TG distance in patients with knee osteoarthritis. Valgus malalignment and severe PFOA were risk factors for pathological TT-RA distance. KEY POINTS: • The TT-RA distance is a reliable and repeatable alternative to the TT-TG distance in evaluating coronal malalignment, especially in patients with severe PFOA. • We validated the significant relationships between TT-TG distance or TT-RA distance and HKA angle in valgus knees, while the correlations among such parameters were not significant in varus knees. • Pathological lateralization of the tibial tubercle was prone to be traced in patients with valgus malalignment or severe PFOA, which could contribute to the patellofemoral malalignment.

RESUMEN

To evaluate the validity of CHAC1 for predicting the prognosis of kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC) and to explore its therapeutic potential for KIRC, we conducted several bioinformatic analyses using the sequencing data and clinical information derived from online databases. We found CHAC1 is down-regulated in KIRC samples when compared with normal samples but up-regulated in KIRC samples with relatively higher malignancy and later stages. Univariate cox analysis and multivariate cox regression analysis were conducted and the results revealed up-regulated CHAC1 is an independent risk factor for poor prognosis of KIRC. Further, the nomogram model based on the result of multivariate cox regression analysis was constructed and effectively predicted patients' 1-year, 3-year and 5-year survival respectively. The correlation analyses showed CHAC1 is associated with the immune pathway markers of memory B cell, natural killer cell and type1 T helper cell as well as the checkpoint genes like ADORA2A, CD200, CD44, CD70, HHLA2, NRP1, PDCD1LG2 and TNFRSF18. Furthermore, experiments in vitro indicated CHAC1 could induce cell death in KIRC cell lines but had limited influence on cell migration and cell invasion. In conclusion, CHAC1 is found a valid indicator for poor prognosis of kidney renal clear cell carcinoma.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The number of myofiber is determined during the embryonic stage and does not increase during the postnatal period for birds, including goose. Thus, muscle production of adult goose is pre-determined during embryogenesis. Previous studies show N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is an important regulator for skeletal muscle development of birds and miRNAs play as a co-regulator for the skeletal muscle development in birds. Herein, we sequenced m6A and miRNA transcriptomes to investigate the profiles of m6A and their potential mechanism of regulating breast muscle development in Dingan Goose. RESULTS: We selected embryonic 21th day (E21) and embryonic 30th day (E30) to investigate the roles of transcriptome-wide m6A modification combining with mRNAs and miRNAs in goose breast muscle development. In this study, m6A peaks were mainly enriched in coding sequence (CDS) and start codon and397 genes were identified as differentially methylated genes (DMGs). GO and KEGG analysis showed that DMGs were highly related to cellular and metabolic process and that most DMGs were enriched in muscle-related pathways including Wnt signaling pathway, mTOR signaling and FoxO signaling pathway. Interestingly, a negative correlation between m6A methylation level and mRNA abundance was found through the analysis of m6A-RNA and RNA-seq data. Besides, we found 26 muscle-related genes in 397 DMGs. We also detected 228 differentially expressed miRNAs (DEMs), and further found 329 genes shared by the target genes of DEMs and DMGs (m6A-miRNA-genes), suggesting a tightly relationship between DEMs and DMGs. Among the m6A-miRNA-genes, we found 10 genes are related to breast muscle development. We further picked out an m6A-miRNA-gene, PDK3, from the 10 genes to visualize it and the result showed differentially methylated peaks on the mRNA transcript consistent with our m6A-seq results. CONCLUSION: GO and KEGG of DMGs between E21 and E30 showed most DMGs were muscle-related. In total, 228 DEMs were found, and the majority of DMGs were overlapped with the targets of DEGs. The differentially methylated peaks along with an m6A-miRNA-gene, PDK3, showed the similar results with m6A-seq results. Taken together, the results presented here provide a reference for further investigation of embryonic skeletal muscle development mechanism in goose.

RESUMEN

Catalytic and electrocatalytic applications of supported metal nanoparticles are hindered due to an aggregation of metal nanoparticles and catalytic leaching under harsh operations. Hence, stable and leaching free catalysts with high surface area are extremely desirable but also challenging. Here we report a gold nanoparticles-hosted mesoporous nitrogen doped carbon matrix, which is prepared using bovine serum albumin (BSA) through calcination. BSA plays three roles in this process as a reducing agent, capping agent and carbon precursor, hence the protocol exhibits economic and sustainable. Gold nanoparticles at N-doped BSA carbon (AuNPs@NBSAC)-modified three-electrode strip-based flexible sensor system has been developed, which displayed effective, sensitive and selective for simultaneous detection of uric acid (UA) and dopamine (DA). The AuNPs@NBSAC-modified sensor showed an excellent response toward DA with a linear response throughout the concentration range from 1 to 50 µM and a detection limit of 0.05 µM. It also exhibited an excellent response toward UA, with a wide detection range from 5 to 200 µM as well as a detection limit of 0.1 µM. The findings suggest that the AuNPs@NBSAC nanohybrid reveals promising applications and can be considered as potential electrode materials for development of electrochemical biosensors.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To (1) compare these parameters between patients with patellar dislocation and healthy individuals on magnetic resonance imaging measurements, (2) validate the diagnostic capacity of the tibial tubercle-posterior cruciate ligament (TT-PCL) distance and tibial tubercle-trochlear groove (TT-TG) distance, (3) define the pathologic threshold values of these parameters for tibial tubercle osteotomy indication, and (4) compare these values with those of previous studies. METHODS: Seventy patients with patellar dislocation and 70 healthy volunteers were identified. The inter- and intraobserver reliability values were determined using Bland-Altman analysis and the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). The diagnostic capacity of the parameters was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic curves and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve. The data of the control group were used to determine the pathologic threshold values of the measurements. Logistic regression analysis was performed with these pathologic threshold values. RESULTS: Significant differences in the TT-PCL distance (P = .01) and TT-TG distance (P < .001) were found between the study group (21.48 ± 3.18 and 12.91 ± 3.80, respectively) and the control group (20.07 ± 2.99 and 8.46 ± 3.16, respectively). Both the TT-PCL distance and TT-TG distance had excellent inter- and intraobserver agreement, with inter-ICCs >0.915 and intra-ICCs >0.932, respectively. However, the TT-TG distance had a higher area under the receiver operating characteristic curve than did the TT-PCL distance (0.820 vs 0.627). The pathologic threshold value of the TT-PCL distance was 24.76 mm. The pathologic threshold value of the TT-TG distance was 13.64 mm. Subjects with a TT-TG distance of >13.64 mm had a greater risk for patellar dislocation, with an odds ratio of 14.02 (95% confidence interval 4.00-49.08, P < .001). CONCLUSIONS: Both the TT-PCL distance and TT-TG distance can be measured reliably by magnetic resonance imaging; however, the TT-TG distance has a better diagnostic capacity than does the TT-PCL distance. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Retrospective cohort study (diagnosis); Level of evidence, I.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To evaluate the clinical relevance of the newly identified malalignment sign in predicting excessive femoral anteversion in patients with patellar dislocations. METHODS: A total of 55 patients with patellar dislocation who underwent surgical treatment between 2016 and 2019 were included in this study. Femoral anteversion, tibial torsion, and the femorotibial index were measured via a CT scan. The malalignment sign on the knee MRI was defined as a malalignment between the lateral side of the intercondylar fossa of the femur and the lateral intercondylar eminence of the tibial plateau. RESULTS: A positive malalignment sign was observed in 36 of the 55 patients. Increased femoral anteversion was significantly correlated with the number of frames with a positive malalignment sign (r = 0.511, P < 0.001). The value of femoral anteversion was significantly greater in the group with a positive malalignment sign (P = 0.02). For a femoral anteversion value of 32°, the sensitivity and specificity of the malalignment sign reached the maximal level of 89.5% and 47.2%, respectively. CONCLUSION: Increased femoral anteversion correlated significantly with a positive malalignment sign on knee MRI. However, tibial torsion did not affect the malalignment sign. A positive malalignment sign is evidence for femoral derotation osteotomy. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Level IV.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To determine the differences in anatomic parameters between ipsilateral dislocated knees and contralateral non-dislocated knees in patients with unilateral patellar dislocation and to identify any variations in ipsilateral knees contributing to contralateral anatomic abnormalities. METHODS: A total of 82 patients with unilateral patellar dislocation from 2016 to 2019 were retrospectively evaluated. Bilateral anatomic factors, including the tibial tubercle to trochlear groove (TT-TG) distance, lower limb rotational deformities, trochlear dysplasia, patella tilt, and patellar height, were assessed by CT. RESULTS: The study included 46 patients (32 females and 14 males, mean age ± SD 20.5 ± 6.8). The interobserver reliability of each parameter showed excellent agreement. The ipsilateral TT-TG distance (P = 0.004), patella tilt (P = 0.001), and patellar height (P = 0.01) were greater in the ipsilateral knees than in the contralateral knees. The lateral trochlea inclination (LTI) in the contralateral knees was larger than that in the ipsilateral knees (P = 0.022). There was a significant difference in the distribution of trochlear dysplasia of Dejour between the ipsilateral knees (dislocated side) and the contralateral knees (P = 0.036). However, bilateral femoral and/or tibial torsion, and bilateral knee joint rotation did not differ significantly. Binary logistic regression showed that only ipsilateral LTI revealed significant ORs of 8.83 (P = 0.016) and 7.64 (P = 0.018) with regard to contralateral abnormal tibial torsion and LTI, respectively. CONCLUSION: In patients with unilateral patellar dislocation, the ipsilateral TT-TG distance, patella tilt, and patellar height values were larger in the ipsilateral knees than in the contralateral knees, and trochlear dysplasia was more severe in the ipsilateral joints. The risks of contralateral pathological tibial torsion and LTI were 8.8- and 7.6-fold higher, respectively, in patients with abnormal ipsilateral LTI. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Level IV.

RESUMEN

Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer's disease. Its pathological features are dopaminergic neuronal death in the substantia nigra (SN), and significant reduction in dopamine (DA) content in the striatum. A large number of studies have found an increase in iron levels in PD patients and animal models, which suggested that brain iron metabolism dysfunction played a key role in the pathogenesis of PD. Lactoferrin (Lf) is a non-heme iron-binding glycoprotein belonging to the transferrin family, entering the cell membrane via a lactoferrin receptor-mediated pathway. Lf exists mainly in two forms: iron-free-lactoferrin (apo-Lf) and iron-saturated-lactoferrin (holo-Lf). Our previous studies found thatapo-Lf and holo-Lf exert neuroprotective effects against 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium toxicity in ventral mesencephalon neurons in vitro. This study aimed to further investigate whether two different forms of Lf have neuroprotective effects in vivo, and to examine their mechanisms, so as to provide an experimental basis for finding new therapeutic strategies against PD. In the central nervous system, Lf antagonized 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-induced DA depletion in the striatum, iron deposition, oxidative, and apoptotic processes in the SN. Lf treatment down-regulated iron import protein divalent metal transporter1 and up-regulated iron export protein ferroportin1, attenuating MPTP-induced accumulation of nigral iron level. In the peripheral system, Lf alleviated MPTP-induced increases in serum iron and ferritin, and decreases in serum total iron-binding capacity, loss of spleen weight, and reduction in spleen iron content. The results indicate that Lf has a neuroprotective effect on MPTP-induced PD model mice, and its mechanism may be related to anti-iron dysregulation, anti-oxidative stress, and anti-apoptosis, with apo-Lf showing greater efficacy. Therefore, Lf might be a promising therapeutic substance for PD. RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To evaluate the potential relationship between the tibial tubercle-trochlear groove (TT-TG) distance and the femoral anteversion of different segments of the femur in patients with patellar dislocation. METHODS: A total of 60 patients with a diagnosis of patellar dislocation were included in our study. Patients with previous knee surgeries, previous fractures, or lack of necessary radiologic examinations were excluded from our study. The data of computed tomography scanning within a week before the surgery was used to measure the TT-TG distance, total anteversion, proximal anteversion, diaphyseal anteversion, distal anteversion, and tibial torsion. All the data were obtained from the picture archiving and communication system (PACS) workstation. The Pearson correlation analysis was performed to confirm the potential relationship between TT-TG distance and femoral anteversion of different segments. The intraclass correlation coefficient was used to assess the interobserver reliability of measurements. RESULTS: The TT-TG distance was significantly correlated with the diaphyseal anteversion (r = -0.305, P = 0.008) and distal anteversion (r = 0.365, P = 0.004). The total anteversion was associated with proximal anteversion (r = 0.392, P = 0.02) and diaphyseal anteversion (r = 0.631, P < 0.001). The intraclass correlation coefficient showed the measurements of included parameters were presented with excellent agreement. CONCLUSION: Our study showed that patients with high diaphyseal anteversion and distal anteversion tend to had a higher TT-TG distance but the value of total and proximal femoral anteversion were independent of the value of TT-TG distance. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Level IV therapeutic case series.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: Our aims were to establish novel nomogram models, which directly targeted patients with signet ring cell carcinoma (SRC), for individualized prediction of overall survival (OS) rate and cancer-specific survival (CSS). METHODS: We selected 1,365 SRC patients diagnosed from 2010 to 2015 from Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database, and then randomly partitioned them into a training cohort and a validation cohort. Independent predicted indicators, which were identified by using univariate testing and multivariate analyses, were used to construct our prognostic nomogram models. Three methods, Harrell concordance index (C-index), receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve and calibration curve, were used to assess the ability of discrimination and predictive accuracy. Integrated discrimination improvement (IDI), net reclassification improvement (NRI) and decision curve analysis (DCA) were used to assess clinical utility of our nomogram models. RESULTS: Six independent predicted indicators, age, race, log odds of positive lymph nodes (LODDS), T stage, M stage and tumor size, were associated with OS rate. Nevertheless, only five independent predicted indicators were associated with CSS except race. The developed nomograms based on those independent predicted factors showed reliable discrimination. C-index of our nomogram for OS and CSS was 0.760 and 0.763, which were higher than American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) 8th edition tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) staging system (0.734 and 0.741, respectively). C-index of validation cohort for OS was 0.757 and for CSS was 0.773. The calibration curves also performed good consistency. IDI, NRI and DCA showed the nomograms for both OS and CSS had a comparable clinical utility than the TNM staging system. CONCLUSIONS: The novel nomogram models based on LODDS provided satisfying predictive ability of SRC both in OS and CSS than AJCC 8th edition TNM staging system alone.

RESUMEN

Due to the natural biodegradability and biocompatibility, silk fibroin (SF) is one of the ideal platforms for on-skin and implantable electronic devices. However, the development of SF-based electronics is still at a preliminary stage due to the SF film intrinsic brittleness as well as the solubility in water, which prevent the fabrication of SF-based electronics through traditional techniques. In this article, a flexible and stretchable silver nanofibers (Ag NFs)/SF based electrode is synthesized through water-free procedures, which demonstrates outstanding performance, i.e., low sheet resistance (10.5 Ω sq-1 ), high transmittance (>90%), excellent stability even after bending cycles >2200 times, and good extensibility (>60% stretching). In addition, on the basis of such advanced (Ag NFs)/SF electrode, a flexible and tactile sensor is further fabricated, which can simultaneously detect pressure and strain signals with a large monitoring window (35 Pa-700 kPa). Besides, this sensor is air-permeable and inflammation-free, so that it can be directly laminated onto human skins for long-term health monitoring. Considering the biodegradable and skin-comfortable features, this sensor may become promising to find potential applications in on-skin or implantable health-monitoring devices.

RESUMEN

This work examines the self-collimation effect of silk materials on fluorescence emission/detection. A macroscopic regulation strategy, coupled with meso-reconstruction and meso-functionalization, is adopted to amplify the fluorescence emission of organic fluorescent dyes (i.e., Rhodamine 6G (R6G)) using silk photonic crystal (PC) films. The fluorescence emission can be linearly enhanced or inhibited by a PC as a result of the photonic bandgap coupling with the excitation light and/or emission light. Depending on the design of the silk fluorescence collimator, the emission can reach 49.37 times higher than the control. The silk fluorescence collimator can be applied to achieve significant benefits: for instance, as a humidity sensor, it provides good reproducibility and a sensitivity of 28.50 a.u./% relative humidity, which is 80.78 times higher than the sensitivity of the control, and as a novel curtain, it raises the energy conversion efficiency of the semitransparent dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) by 16%.

RESUMEN

Integrated fabrics with a smart heating control system (HCS) are attractive in warming and thermotherapy for human healthcare management. Metal nanofibers (NFs) networks with high flexibility, conductivity and gas permeability are ideal functional materials for wearable electronics. Herein, a novel sandwich-structural (Ag NFs/fabrics/Pt NFs) textile for a HCS is constructed, where a Ag NF network film was functioned as a wearable heater and Pt NF network arrays were functioned as wearable temperature sensors. Conductivity and mechanical stability of the metal NFs were enhanced by crosslinking the free-standing fiber networks, resulting in high thermo-stability, thermal resistance (163.5 °C W-1 cm2) and temperature sensitivity (0.135% °C-1) of the HCS. The HCS can simultaneously realize heating and temperature distribution detection, demonstrating only 0.57% average error between the simulated resistance-to-temperature diagram of Pt NF arrays and actual temperature mapping. In addition, the HCS can be stuck on the skin for thermochromic fabrics, real-time heating and temperature detection/control through a Bluetooth device in a smartphone wirelessly.
