ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the correlations between APACHE-II score and pressure parameters of mechanical ventilation in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and their value in prognostic evaluation. Methods: This was a retrospective study. The clinical data of 79 patients with ARDS treated in Shengzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from April 2020 to April 2022 were analyzed retrospectively. According to whether their APACHE-II scores were higher than 15, they were divided into low score group (n= 20) and high score group (n= 59). The plateau pressure (Pplat), driving pressure(ΔP) and mean airway pressure (Pmean) were compared. The correlation between APACHE-II score and pressure parameters of mechanical ventilation was analyzed. Based on the follow-up of 28-d survival, their Pplat, ΔP, Pmean and APACHE-II scores were compared. The value of APACHE-II score and pressure parameters in the prognostic evaluation of ARDS patients was analyzed. Results: Pplat, ΔP and Pmean in the low score group were significantly lower than those in the high score group(P<0.05). Pplat, ΔP, Pmean and APACHE-II score in the survival group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05). APACHE-II score showed significantly positive correlations with Pplat, ΔP and Pmean. The AUC of Pmean, Pplat, ΔP and APACHE-II score in predicting the prognosis and diagnosis of ARDS patients was 0.761, 0.833, 0.754 and 0.832, respectively. Conclusion: APACHE-II score of ARDS patients shows significantly positive correlations with pressure parameters of mechanical ventilation, and has diagnostic value for the prognosis of ARDS patients.

ABSTRACT

A Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, short-rod-shaped, non-spore-forming actinobacterial strain, designated M8JJ-5T, was isolated from a surface-sterilized bark of Neriumindicum Mill. collected from Guizhou, China, and investigated by a polyphasic approach to determine its taxonomic position. Strain M8JJ-5T grew optimally without NaCl at 28 °C and at pH 7.0-8.0. Substrate mycelia and aerial mycelia were not formed, and no diffusible pigments were observed on the media tested. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence showed that strain M8JJ-5T was most closely related to the type strains of genus Amnibacterium, and shared highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity of 97.29 % to Amnibacterium kyonggiense KSL51201-037T. The DNA G+C content of strain M8JJ-5T was 68.6 mol%. The cell-wall peptidoglycan contained l-2,4-diaminobutyric acid and MK-12, MK-11 were the major menaquinones. The predominant polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, an unidentified glycolipid, an unidentified phospholipid and an unidentified lipid, while the major fatty acids were iso-C16 : 0, anteiso-C15 : 0 and anteiso-C17 : 0. On the basis of phylogenetic, chemotaxonomic and phenotypic data, strain M8JJ-5T can be characterized to represent a novel species of the genus Amnibacterium, for which the name Amnibacteriumflavum sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is M8JJ-5T (=KCTC 49089T=CGMCC 1.16390T).

ABSTRACT

The effect of oral administration of Phyllanthus methanolic extracts (PME) (i.e. P. acidus, P. emblica, P. myrtifolius, P. multiflorus, P. amarus, P. debilis, P. embergeri, P. hookeri, P. tenellus, P. urinaria L.s. nudicarpus, P. urinaria L.s. urinaria) or gallic acid (GA) on the progression of acute liver damage induced by CCl(4) in rats was examined by morphological and biochemical methods. P. acidus, P. urinaria L.s. urinaria, GA at a dose of 0.5 g/kg, and P. emblica, P. urinaria L.s. nudicarpus at a dose of 1.0 g/kg attenuated CCl(4)-induced increase in serum glutamate-oxalate-transaminase (GOT). P. acidus, P. urinaria L.s. nudicarpus, P. urinaria L.s. urinaria, GA at a dose of 0.5 g/kg, and P. emblica, P. amarus, P. hookeri, P. tenellus at a dose of 1.0 g/kg attenuated CCl(4)-induced increase in serum glutamate-pyruvate-transaminase (GPT). Concurrently, P. acidus, P. multiflorus, P. embergeri, P. hookeri, P. tenellus and P. urinaria L.s. urinaria elevated the activity of liver reduced glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px). Since the protective effects of P. acidus, P. emblica, P. myrtifolius, P. embergeri, P. urinaria L.s. nudicarpus, P. urinaria L.s. urinaria and GA correlate with a reduction in liver infiltration and focal necrosis observed using histological methods, these data demonstrate that P. acidus and P. urinaria L.s. urinaria are hepatoprotective and antioxidant agents.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: Measure the thermal stability and the forming constant of inclusion complex for paeonol with beta-CD, and investigate interaction between beta-CD and paeonol, METHOD: The thermal stability investigated by using different thermal analysis. The forming constant was determined by using phase method. RESULT: Comparing with melt temperature of paeonol, that of its inclusion complex increase about 220 degrees C. The solubility of paeonol increases with the increased concentration of beta-CD, the composing ratio and the inclusion constant of beta-CD-paeonol is respectively 1/1 and 27.42 mL x mg(-1). CONCLUSION: Inclusion constant is applied to research the stability of included drug in physiological condition.
