RESUMEN

The scientific basis of acupuncture on mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) for treating ischemic stroke (IS) is discussed. MSCs transplantation has great potential for the treatment of tissue damage caused by early stage inflammatory cascade reactions of IS, but its actual transformation is limited by various factors. How to improve the homing efficiency of MSCs is the primary issue to enhance its efficacy. As such, the possible mechanisms of acupuncture and MSCs transplantation in inhibiting inflammatory cascade reactions induced by IS are explored by reviewing literature, and a hypothesis that acupuncture could promote the secretion of stromal cell-derived factor-1α (SDF-1α) from ischemic foci to regulate SDF-1α/CXC chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4) axis, thereby improving the homing efficiency of MSCs transplantation, exerting its neuroprotective function, and improving the bed transformation ability, is proposed.

RESUMEN

Zinc depletion is associated with alcohol-associated liver injury. We tested the hypothesis that increasing zinc availability along with alcohol consumption prevents alcohol-associated liver injury. Zinc-glutathione (ZnGSH) was synthesized and directly added to Chinese Baijiu. Mice were administered a single gastric dose of 6 g/kg ethanol in Chinese Baijiu with or without ZnGSH. ZnGSH in Chinese Baijiu did not change the likeness of the drinkers but significantly reduced the recovery time from drunkenness along with elimination of high-dose mortality. ZnGSH in Chinese Baijiu decreased serum AST and ALT, suppressed steatosis and necrosis, and increased zinc and GSH concentrations in the liver. It also increased alcohol dehydrogenase and aldehyde dehydrogenase in the liver, stomach, and intestine and reduced acetaldehyde in the liver. Thus, ZnGSH in Chinese Baijiu prevents alcohol-associated liver injury by increasing alcohol metabolism timely with alcohol consumption, providing an alternative approach to the management of alcohol-associated drinking.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Motor aphasia after stroke is a common and intractable complication of stroke. Acupuncture and language training may be an alternative and effective approach. However, the efficacy of acupuncture and language training for motor aphasia after stroke has not been confirmed. The main objectives of this trial are to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture and low-intensity, low-dose language training in treating ischemic motor aphasia after stroke from 15 to 90 days. METHODS: This is a multicenter randomized sham-controlled clinical trial. We will allocate 252 subjects aged between 45 and 75 years diagnosed with motor aphasia after stroke with an onset time ranging from 15 to 90 days into two groups randomly in a 1:1 ratio. Patients in the experimental group will be treated with "Xing-Nao Kai-Qiao" acupuncture therapy plus language training, and those in the control group will be treated with sham-acupoint (1 cun next to the acupoints) acupuncture therapy plus language training. All the patients will be given acupuncture and language training for 6 weeks, with a follow-up evaluation 6 weeks after the end of the treatment and 6 months after the onset time. The patients will mainly be evaluated using the Western Aphasia Battery and Chinese Functional Communication Profile, and the incidence of treatment-related adverse events at the 2nd, 4th, and 6th weeks of treatment will be recorded. The baseline characteristics of the patients will be summarized by group, the chi-squared test will be used to compare categorical variables, and repeated measures of analysis of variance or a linear mixed model will be applied to analyze the changes measured at different time points. DISCUSSION: The present study is designed to investigate the effectiveness and safety of traditional acupuncture therapy and language training in ischemic motor aphasia after stroke and explore the correlation between the treatment time and clinical effect of acupuncture. We hope our results will help doctors understand and utilize acupuncture combined with language training. TRIAL REGISTRATION: ChiCTR ChiCTR1900026740 . Registered on 20 October 2019.

RESUMEN

Trace elements in Mongolian medicine Susi-12 for cholecystitis and gallstones were analyzed in order to discuss the relation between Susi-12's drug action and the trace elements. The analysis was carried out using the pressure seal microwave digestion and inductive coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). It was found that the medicine contained great amount of trace elements, especially human-body-needed trace elements, such as Ca, Al, Mg, Fe, Sr, Mn, Zn, Cu etc., whereas heavy metals are very little, e.g. the contents of Pb, Cb, As etc are below the country's limit. The recoveries of standard addition are in the range of 94.63%-106.40%. The relative standard deviation RSD< or =3.35%, and detection limit is < or =0.009 mg x L(-1). It is concluded that Mongolian medicine Susi-12 can effectively control and cure cholecystitis and gallstones, and the effective rate reaches 91.2% to 100%. So the trace elements in Susi-12 must have a close connection with the drug action.

RESUMEN

In the study of the Mongolian medicine we found that the Mongolian medicine contains a great amount of trace elements and nutrition composition of amino acids etc, in which trace elements that human body needed are fairly rich but the heavy metals are very little. A method for the determination of Ca, Mg, Al, Fe, Mn, Sr, Cu, Zn and Pb in Mongolian medicine Chagederi (1# and 2#) by ICP-AES with microwave digestion was studied. The recoveries of standard addition are in the range of 97.5%-105.5%. The relative standard deviation is < or = 2.88, and the detection limit is in the range of < or = 0.009 microg x L(-1). The results show that 1# and 2# have some differences and the medicine property and drug effect has some relation with trace elements.

RESUMEN

During the study of the Mongolian medicine Zidianling, the authors found that the Mongolian medicine Zidianling contains great amount of trace elements in which human-body-needed trace elements are fairly much but the heavy metals are very little. A method using ICP-AES with microwave digestion was studied for the determination of 15 elements including Ca, Mg, Sr, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Pb, etc. in Mongolian medicine-Zidianling. The major function of this medicine is clearing away heat and removing toxic substances, and cooling blood to stop bleeding. To explain the Zidianling's clinical effects, the authors chose 260 allergic purpura patients with 140 male and 120 female. The youngest was 6 years old, the oldest was 62 years old. Most of patients were between 6 and 16, accounting for nearly 90%. The results of clinical effects show that 234 patients were cured, roughly 90% of the total number Thirteen patients showed obvious effects (5% of the total number) and 11 had effective cures of illnesses (4.23% of the total number). Two patients had no cures of illnesses (0.77% of the total number). And the integrated effective rate may reach 99.23%. The results show that Mongolian medicine Zidianling has great amount of trace elements and its Sr content is different from other Mongolian medicines and is especially high. The recoveries of standard addition are in the range of 94.63%-106.40%. The relative standard deviation RSD< or = 3.17%, and the detection limit is in the range of < or = 0.009 microg x mL(-1).

RESUMEN

Decomposition of hexachlorobenzene (HCB) was investigated over several metal oxides (i.e., MgO, CaO, BaO, La2O3, CeO2, MnO2, Fe2O3, and Co3O4) supported on Al2O3, which was achieved in closed system at a temperature of 300 degrees C. Catalysts were prepared by incipient wetness impregnation with different metal oxides loading and impregnating solvents. The decomposition efficiency of different catalysts for this reaction depends on the nature of the metal oxide used, and Al2O3 supported La2O3 was found to be the most active one. Pentachlorobenzene (PeCB), and all tetrachlorobenzene (TeCB), trichlorobenzene (TrCB), and dichlorobenzene (DCB) isomers were detected after the decomposition reaction, indicating that the decomposition was mainly a dechlorination process. The detection of all lower chlorinated benzenes suggested the complexity of decomposition and the presence of more than one dechlorination pathway.
