RESUMEN

Effects of disodium salt 2,4-di(1-metoxyethyl)-deuteroporphyrine-IX (Dimegin) and the light from Soret band (¼395-405 nm) at the viability of microbial cells and at their potential to form microbial biofilms have been compared with traditional antiseptics. Irradiation of microbial cells of S. aureus, E. coli, C. albicans and others with diode light (power density 0.05 Wt/cm2) caused a bactericidial effect similar to that obtained with standard anticeptics (chlorhexidine and dioxidine). A comparative study of the effectiveness of Dimegin and Photoditazine (a soluble salt of chlorine e6) as photosensitizers have been performed using the test system of erythrocyte hemolysis in vitro under irradiation with light from the Sore band. Results have shown insignificant difference in the photodynamic effect with similar doses of absorbed light and preparation concentration.

RESUMEN

The possibility of the correction of intestinal microflora disorders and the functional activity of macrophages in dysbiosis, caused by the intragastric administration of ampiox, with the use of amben (PAMBA), an inhibitor of proteolytic enzymes, was studied. Quantitative and qualitative changes in the main representatives of automicroflora, the functional activity of macrophages in the phagocytosis of 51Cr-labeled sheep red blood cells, the intensity of protein synthesis, the content of cathepsin D, acidic phosphatase and nitro blue tetrazolium activity were determined. The combined administration of ampiox and amben normalized quantitative and qualitative ratios of the main representatives of intestinal microflora, as well as the characteristics of macrophage functional activity, studied in this investigation. The administration of amben to intact animals was found to stimulate bifido- and lactoflora.

RESUMEN

The effect of alimentary pectin obtained from different raw materials (apple, tomato, cotton-wool) on the causative agents of infectious diarrheal diseases, belonging to the genera Shigella, Salmonella, Klebsiella, Enterobacter, Proteus and Citrobacter, was studied under experimental conditions and in clinical observations. The study revealed that pectin, irrespective of raw material used for its production, produced an inhibiting effect on these microorganisms. This effect was most pronounced, both under experimental and clinical conditions, when 5% pectin solution was used. A rapid suppress of diarrhea and other manifestations of the infectious syndrome was observed in patients. The patients treated with pectin stayed in the hospital, on the average, 2-3 days less than the control group of patients treated with antibiotics and other chemotherapeutic preparations.

RESUMEN

Samples of Y.pseudotuberculosis (serovar I) antigens, represent a high-molecular lipopolysaccharide (LPS) fraction with a mol. wt. of 22.5 kD and fractions of outer membrane proteins isolated by the method of M. Osborn and R. Munson (1974), were tested in comparison with the activity with live cells of Y. pseudotuberculosis I attenuated mutant KV 9/2, having lost its Cad plasmid of virulence with a mol. wt. of 47 MD and carrying 2 attenuating markers: resistance to crystal violet and nalidixic acid. In experiments on guinea pigs pathomorphological studies demonstrated high protective activity of Y.pseudotuberculosis I attenuated mutant KV 9/2 and a pronounced protective effect achieved after the immunization of the animals with complex biopolymers, including a high-molecular LPS fraction and outer membrane proteins.

RESUMEN

After oral immunization of lambs with S. typhimurium vaccine strain 274 these bacteria were characterized by low adhesion to the epithelial surface of the ileum, cecum, and colon, by very insignificant invasion into intestinal epithelium and then into lamina propria of the intestinal mucosa, mesenteric lymph nodes and the blood; the blood stream carried these bacteria further to the liver, spleen and other organs. Bacteria of strain 274 produced no damages, did not multiply and only persisted for 7-13 days in some lambs. No inflammation developed in response to oral immunization of the animals. The developing immunomorphological reaction presented as just a negligible increase in lymphocyte count in the intestinal epithelium, blast transformation and plasmatization in lymphatic follicles of Peyer's patches, hyperplastic mesenteric lymph nodes, blast and lymphocyte recirculation, moderate hyperplasia of white splenic pulp and insignificant lymphoid infiltration of portal interlayers of the liver.

RESUMEN

In 2-3 weeks after the oral immunization of rabbits, made in one or two administrations, with attenuated two-marker S. dysenteriae 1 strain VS-12 and recombinant S. dysenteriae VS-12/S. sonnei NR-18 and S. flexneri y433/S. sonnei NR-18 pronounced immunological reaction developed in the mucous membrane of the small intestine: blast transformation follicles of Peyer's patches, an increase in the number of lymphoblasts and plasmocytes in the cupolae of follicles and in intestinal villi, and an increase in the number of lymphocytes and macrophages in the intestinal epithelium with their release into the lumen of the intestine after challenge with virulent shigellae. The protective potency of these recombinants after challenge with massive doses of virulent shigellae was found to be high, which was shown by quantitative evaluation of the decrease of adhesion, invasiveness and cytotoxicity, suppression of epithelial lesions and development of inflammation in the intestinal mucosa.
