RESUMEN

1,3,6-Trigalloylglucose is a natural compound that can be extracted from the aqueous extracts of ripe fruit of Terminalia chebula Retz, commonly known as "Haritaki". The potential anti-Helicobacter pylori (HP) activity of this compound has not been extensively studied or confirmed in scientific research. This compound was isolated using a semi-preparative liquid chromatography (LC) system and identified through Ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-MS/MS (UPLC-MS/MS) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR). Its role was evaluated using Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) assay and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) assay, scanning electron microscope (SEM), inhibiting kinetics curves, urea fast test, Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay, Western blot, and Griess Reagent System. Results showed that this compound effectively inhibits the growth of HP strain ATCC 700392, damages the HP structure, and suppresses the Cytotoxin-associated gene A (Cag A) protein, a crucial factor in HP infection. Importantly, it exhibits selective antimicrobial activity without impacting normal epithelial cells GES-1. In vitro studies have revealed that 1,3,6-Trigalloylglucose acts as an anti-adhesive agent, disrupting the adhesion of HP to host cells, a critical step in HP infection. These findings underscore the potential of 1,3,6-Trigalloylglucose as a targeted therapeutic agent against HP infections.

RESUMEN

Background: Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is thought to primarily colonize the human stomach and lead to various gastrointestinal disorders, such as gastritis and gastric cancer. Currently, main eradication treatment is triple or quadruple therapy centered on antibiotics. Due to antibiotic resistance, the eradication rate of H. pylori is decreasing gradually. Therefore, searching for anti-H. pylori drugs from herbal sources has become a strategy for the treatment. Our team proposed a Hezi Qingyou Formula (HZQYF), composed of Chebulae Fructus, Ficus hirta Vahl and Cloves, and studied its anti-H. pylori activity and mechanism. Methods: Chemical components of HZQYF were studied using UHPLC-MS/MS and HPLC. Broth microdilution method and agar dilution method were used to evaluate HZQYF's antibacterial activity. The effects of HZQYF on expression of adhesion genes (alpA, alpB, babA), urease genes (ureE, ureF), and flagellar genes (flaA, flaB) were explored using Reverse Transcription-quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-qPCR) technology. Effects on morphology and permeability of the extracellular membrane were studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and N-phenylnaphthalen-1-amine (NPN) uptake. Effect on urease activity was studied using a urease kinetics analysis in vitro. Immunofluorescence staining method was used to examine the effect on adhesion. Western blot was used to examine the effect on cagA protein. Results: Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of the formula against H. pylori clinical strains and standard strains were 80-160 µg/mL, and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) values were 160-320 µg/mL. The formula could down-regulate the expression of adhesion genes (alpA, alpB, babA), urease genes (ureE, ureF) and flagellar genes (flaA, flaB), change the morphology of H. pylori, increase its extracellular membrane permeability, and decrease its urease activity. Conclusion: Present studies confirmed that HZQYF had promising in vitro anti-H. pylori activities and demonstrated its possible mechanism of action by down-regulating the bacterial adhesion, urease, and flagellar gene expression, which provided scientific bases for further clinical investigations.

RESUMEN

Sanguisorba officinalis L., a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) called DiYu (DY) in China, has a strong tradition of utilization as a scorching, blood-cooling, and hemostatic medication, and was used for cancer prevention and treatment due to its potential immune-enhancing and hematological toxicity-reducing effects. Previous studies have reported significant effects of DY on cancers including colorectal cancer (CRC), which is one of the most common malignancies worldwide. The first-line cure 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) plays decisive commerce in the sedative of CRC as a clinically available chemotherapeutic agent. One of the primary causes of cancer treatment failure is the acquisition of chemotherapy drug resistance. In order to successfully combat the emergence of chemoresistance, it is essential to identify herbs or traditional Chinese medicine that have adjuvant therapeutic effects on CRC. Therefore, this study aimed to determine whether DY could improve the sensitivity, conquer the chemoresistance of 5-FU-resistant CRC cells, and investigate its intrinsic mechanism. Materials and methods: MTT, Hoechst 33258 staining, and flow cytometry assays were used to determine the anticancer activity of DY alone or in combination with 5-FU against 5-FU-resistant CRC cells (RKO-R and HCT15-R) and wound healing assays were conducted to detect cell migration. Transcriptomic techniques were carried out to explore the effect and mechanism of DY on drug-resistant CRC cells. Western Blot and RT q-PCR assays were performed to validate the mechanism by which DY overcomes drug-resistant CRC cells. Results: These results indicated that DY alone or in combination with 5-FU significantly inhibited the proliferation and the migration of resistant CRC cells, and potentiated the susceptibility of 5-FU to drug-resistant CRC cells. GO and KEGG enrichment analysis showed that the mechanisms of drug resistance in CRC cells and DY against drug-resistant CRC cells highly overlapped, involved in the modulation of biological processes such as cell migration, positive regulation of protein binding and cytoskeleton, and MAPK (Ras-ERK-MEK), PI3K/Akt, and other signaling pathways. Moreover, DY can mediate the expression of p-R-Ras, p-ERK1/2, p-MEK1/2, p-PI3K, p-AKT, HIF-1A and VEGFA proteins. In addition, DY significantly suppressed the expression of AKT3, NEDD9, BMI-1, and CXCL1 genes in resistant CRC cells. Conclusion: In conclusion, DY could inhibit the proliferation and migration of 5-FU-resistant cells and strengthen the sensitivity of 5-FU to CRC-resistant cells. Furthermore, DY may prevail over chemoresistance through the Ras/MEK/ERK and PI3K/Akt pathways. These findings imply that DY may be a potential drug for clinical treatment or adjuvant treatment of drug-resistant CRC.

RESUMEN

The growth of endophytic bacteria is influenced by the host plants and their secondary metabolites and activities. In this study, P. megaterium P-NA14 and P. megaterium D-HT207 were isolated from potato tuber and dendrobium stem respectively. They were both identified as Priestia megaterium. The antimicrobial activities and metabolites of both strains were explored. For antimicrobial activities, results showed that P. megaterium P-NA14 exhibited a stronger inhibition effect on the pathogen of dendrobium, while P. megaterium D-HT207 exhibited a stronger inhibition effect on the pathogen of potato. The supernatant of P. megaterium P-NA14 showed an inhibition effect only on Staphylococcus aureus, while the sediment of P. megaterium D-HT207 showed an inhibition effect only on Escherichia coli. For metabolomic analysis, the content of L-phenylalanine in P. megaterium P-NA14 was higher than that of P. megaterium D-HT207, and several key downstream metabolites of L-phenylalanine were associated with inhibition of S. aureus including tyrosine, capsaicin, etc. Therefore, we speculated that the different antimicrobial activities between P. megaterium P-NA14 and P. megaterium D-HT207 were possibly related to the content of L-phenylalanine and its metabolites. This study preliminarily explored why the same strains isolated from different hosts exhibit different activities from the perspective of metabolomics.

RESUMEN

Background: To improve the dissolution and bioavailability of the component-based Chinese medicine of Ginkgo biloba leaves (GBCCM), a novel nanocrystalline solid dispersion of GBCCM (GBCCM NC-SD) was first prepared. Methods: GBCCM mainly containing high pure flavonoid aglycones (FAs) and terpenoid lactones (TLs) was used as the model drug. PVP K30 and SDS were used as solubilizers, combined stabilizers and carriers, and GBCCM NC-SD was prepared by high-pressure homogenization combined with freeze-dryer. Morphology and crystal characteristic of GBCCM NC-SD were analyzed. The dissolution and bioavailability evaluation were performed to investigate the feasibility of GBCCM NC-SD by in vitro dissolution and in vivo integrated pharmacokinetic models. Results: After homogenizing for 30 cycles under the pressure of 650 bar and freeze-drying, GBCCM NC-SD with uniform quality would be obtained. The particle size, PDI and zeta potential were found to be 335.9 ± 32.8 nm, 0.29 ± 0.02 and -28.4 ± 0.7 mV respectively. Based on charged aerosol detector (CAD) technology, a new chromatographic method for simultaneous detection of eight components in GBCCM was developed. In vitro drug release study showed that the cumulative dissolution of FAs and TLs in GBCCM NC-SD increased from 12.77% to 52.92% (P < 0.01) and 90.91% to 99.21% (P < 0.05) respectively. In comparison with physical mixture of GBCCM and stabilizer (PM), the integrated pharmacokinetics AUC0-t of FAs and TLs in GBCCM NC-SD were significantly increased (P < 0.05), and the T1/2 of TLs was also significantly prolonged (P < 0.05). Conclusion: This study demonstrated that novel GBCCM NC-SD was prepared using Polyvinylpyrrolidone K30 (PVP K30) and Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) as a synergetic stabilizer and also provided a feasible way to improve the dissolution and oral bioavailability of poorly soluble candidate antihypertensive drugs.

RESUMEN

As a dietary and medicinal plant, Dendrobium fimbriatum (DF) is widely utilized in China for improving stomach disease for centuries. However, the underlying mechanisms against gastric mucosal injury have not been fully disclosed. Here, metabolomics and proteomics were integrated to clarify the in-depth molecular mechanisms using cyclophosphamide-induced gastric mucosal injury model in mice. As a result, three metabolic pathways, such as creatine metabolism, arginine and proline metabolism, and pyrimidine metabolism were hit contributing to DF protective benefits. Additionally, γ-L-glutamyl-putrescine, cytosine, and thymine might be the eligible biomarkers to reflect gastric mucosal injury tatus, and DF anti-gastric mucosal injury effects were mediated by the so-called target proteins such as Ckm, Arg1, Ctps2, Pycr3, and Cmpk2. This finding provided meaningful information for the molecular mechanisms of DF and also offered a promising strategy to clarify the therapeutic mechanisms of functional foods.

RESUMEN

Soymilk is a popular beverage in many countries owing to its nutrition and health effects. To increase household consumption of soymilk, instant soybeans were developed by freezing and subsequent drying pretreatment, which overcome the time-consuming need of soaking during soymilk preparation for home making. However, compared with the traditional soymilk making, the nutritional quality and functional properties of this soymilk made from the soybean by direct grinding in water without soaking are not clear yet. Soymilk made from untreated soybeans, soaked soybeans, and soaking, freezing, and air-drying soybeans (FADTS) were compared on their properties including nutritional components, in vitro protein digestibility, and functional components. It was found that FADTS was the best at extracting lipid and Ca, good at extracting of protein, carbohydrate, oligosaccharides, Fe, phytic acids, and tannins, and in producing soymilks with highest in vitro protein digestibility. The soluble protein and protein digestibility of FADTS (4 day) increased significantly from 44.4% and 78.5% of control to 56.2% and 85.0%, respectively. Soymilk from 4 days FADTS contained similar protein content and higher Fe content (4.40 mg/kg) compared to soaked sample (3.82 mg/kg). The results revealed that FADTS performed better at producing soymilk than untreated and soaked soybeans.

RESUMEN

Angina pectoris (AP) with coronary heart disease (CHD) is one of the common cardiovascular diseases in clinical practice, which can be classified as "chest paralysis" in Chinese medicine according to its symptoms, and it is described in many ancient documents. Ancient Chinese medicine believes that the main pathogenesis of the disease is poor blood flow leading to paralysis of the heart and veins, so it is often treated by activating blood and removing blood stasis. In this study, 120 patients with AP of CHD of Qi stagnation and blood stasis type were randomly divided into the observation (n = 60) and the control group (n = 60). In the control group, basic care, conventional treatment, and unselected copper acupuncture scraping were used, while in the observation group, copper acupuncture scraping was performed at the right time of the heart meridian (11 : 00-13 : 00) on the basis of the control group, and all patients received the treatment for a total duration of 4 weeks. We collected data on the traditional Chinese medical (TCM) syndrome score, frequency and duration of angina attacks, nitroglycerin dosage, inflammatory factor levels, and hematological indices pretreatment and posttreatment in both groups. Patients' adverse effects during treatment were recorded, and the clinical efficacy and ECG efficacy in both groups were evaluated after 4 weeks. We used SPSS.20 statistical software to statistically analyze the above data, and the results showed that the clinical efficacy and ECG efficacy of the observation group were significantly higher than the control group posttreatment. After treatment, the TCM symptom score, angina attack frequency, attack duration and nitroglycerin dosage, serum interleukin-8 (IL-8), hypersensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) levels, whole blood viscosity (WBV), plasma viscosity (PV), fibrinogen (FIB), and hematocrit (Hct) were significantly lower in both groups compared with those posttreatment. And the observation group showed a greater decrease when compared with the control group. The results also showed that the overall incidence of adverse reactions was lower in both groups during the treatment period. The above results indicate that while ensuring high safety, the copper stone based on theory of midnight-noon ebb-flow can more effectively improve the symptoms and inflammatory response of the body and reduce the viscosity of the blood in AP with CHD of Qi stagnation and blood stasis, and it has better therapeutic effects.

RESUMEN

Three cancer cell lines including gastric cancer SGC-7901, HGC-27, and MGC-803 cells were employed to evaluate the bioactivity of seven Dendrobium species. Simultaneously, these Dendrobium species were assessed with UPLC-Q-TOF-MS, and 504 common peaks were found. Based on the hypothesis that biological effects varied with differences in components, multivariate relevance analysis for chemical component-activity relationship of Dendrobium, including grey relation(GRA) and partial least squares(PLS) analysis were performed to evaluate the contribution of each identified component. The target peaks were identified by standards toge-ther with databases of Dendrobium, Nature Chemistry, MassBank, etc. Finally, four active components, including 3,5,9-trihydroxy-23-methylergosta-7,22-dien-6-one, diacylglycerol(14∶1/22∶6/0∶0), pipercitine, and 22-tricosenoic acid, might have negative effect on the growth of gastric cancer cells.

RESUMEN

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of filiform fire-needling plus continuous passive motion (CPM) therapy for frozen shoulder. Methods: A total of 72 patients were randomized into an observation group and a control group by the random number table method, with 36 cases in each group. Patients in the control group received celecoxib capsule plus CPM, while those in the observation group received filiform fire-needling plus CPM. The whole course of treatment lasted for 2 weeks in both groups. The visual analog scale (VAS), Constant-Murley score (CMS) and range of motion of shoulder joint were measured for therapeutic efficacy evaluation. Results: The total effective rate was 91.7% in the observation group, higher than 72.2% in the control group, and the between-group comparison showed statistical significance (P<0.05). After treatment, the VAS scores in the two groups dropped significantly, the CMS as well as the range of motion including abduction, forward flexion and extension were all increased significantly, and the intra-group comparisons showed statistical significance (all P<0.05). The betweengroup comparisons showed the improvements in these items in the observation group were more significant than those in the control group (all P<0.05). Conclusion: Filiform fire-needling plus CPM can produce more significant efficacy than celecoxib capsule plus CPM for frozen shoulder; it can alleviate pain, improve shoulder function and restore joint range of motion in such patients.

RESUMEN

Due to the importance of proanthocyanidin bioactivity and its relationship with chemical structure, ultrasound-assisted extraction and purification schemes were proposed to evaluate the proanthocyanidin content and analyze the structural composition and potential bioactivities of different proanthocyanidin fractions from Chinese wild rice (Zizania latifolia). Following an optimized extraction procedure, the crude wild rice proanthocyanidins (WRPs) were purified using n-butanol extraction, chromatography on macroporous resins, and further fractionation on Sephadex LH-20 to yield six specific fractions (WRPs-1-WRPs-6) containing proanthocyanidin levels exceeding 524.19 ± 3.56 mg/g extract. Structurally, (+)-catechin, (-)-epicatechin, and (-)-epigallocatechin were present as both terminal and extension units, and (-)-epicatechin was the major extension unit, in each fraction. This is the first preparation of WRP fractions with a different mean degree of polymerization (mDP), ranging from 2.66 ± 0.04 to 10.30 ± 0.46. A comparison of the bioactivities of these fractions revealed that fractions WRPs-1-WRPs-5 had significant DPPH radical scavenging activities, whereas fraction WRPs-6 with a high mDP showed better α-glucosidase and pancreatic lipase inhibitory effects. These findings should help define possible applications of WRPs to functional foods or nutraceuticals.

RESUMEN

To provide further insights into the potential health-promoting antioxidants from wild rice (Zizania latifolia), which is an abundant but underutilized whole grain resource in East Asia, a partial purification based on D101 macroporous resin was carried out for the purification and enrichment of the antioxidants from the bioactive ethanol extracts of wild rice. On that basis, 34 phenolic compounds in the antioxidant fractions were identified by a high-performance liquid chromatography-linear ion trap quadrupole-Orbitrap-mass spectrometry (HPLC-LTQ-Orbitrap-MSn). The results suggested that phenolic acids could be enriched in the 10% ethanol-eluted fraction whereas flavonoids (including procyanidins and flavonoid glycosides) could be enriched in 20⁻30% ethanol-eluted fractions. A quantitative analysis determined by the multiple reaction monitoring mode of the ultra-performance liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-QqQ-MS/MS) revealed a high content of procyanidins in wild rice. Compared with phenolic acids, flavonoids may contribute more to the potent antioxidant activity of wild rice. This is the first study on the antioxidants from wild rice Z. latifolia. These findings provide novel information on the functional components of wild rice, and will be of value to further research and development on Z. latifolia.

RESUMEN

AIMS: Glycogen synthase kinase 3ß (GSK-3ß) is activated following hypoxic-ischemic (HI) brain injury. TDZD-8 is a specific GSK-3ß inhibitor. Currently, the impact of inhibiting GSK-3ß in neonatal HI injury is unknown. We aimed to investigate the effect of TDZD-8 following neonatal HI brain injury. METHODS: Unilateral common carotid artery ligation followed by hypoxia was used to induce HI injury in postnatal day 7 mouse pups pretreated with TDZD-8 or vehicle. The infarct volume, whole-brain imaging, Nissl staining, and behavioral tests were used to evaluate the protective effect of TDZD-8 on the neonatal brain and assess functional recovery after injury. Western blot was used to evaluate protein levels of phosphorylated protein kinase B (Akt), GSK-3ß, and cleaved caspase-3. Protein levels of cleaved caspase-3, neuronal marker, and glial fibrillary acidic protein were detected through immunohistochemistry. RESULTS: Pretreatment with TDZD-8 significantly reduced brain damage and improved neurobehavioral outcomes following HI injury. TDZD-8 reversed the reduction of phosphorylated Akt and GSK-3ß, and the activation of caspase-3 induced by hypoxia-ischemia. In addition, TDZD-8 suppressed apoptotic cell death and reduced reactive astrogliosis. CONCLUSION: TDZD-8 has the therapeutic potential for hypoxic-ischemic brain injury in neonates. The neuroprotective effect of TDZD-8 appears to be mediated through its antiapoptotic activity and by reducing astrogliosis.

RESUMEN

The theory of "combination of five meridians" focuses on meridians and acupoints as well as compatibility and interrelationship of generation and restriction of five elements. By regulating corresponding meridians to diseased, the relationship of unbalancedis balanced, which can regulate body function and effectively treat diseases. Under the guide of theory "the combination of five meridians", according to etiology and pathogenesis of post-stroke urinary incontinence, wind, fire and phlegm, from three aspects of deficiency, excess and deficient root and excessive surface, under the treatment principle of "nourishing the mother if it is deficient, reducing the son if it is excessive", the original meridian, son meridian, mother meridian, conquering meridian and conquered meridian are selected while the methods of nourishing the mother, reducing the son, reinforcing the suppression and developing the weak are applied, so as to discuss the acupuncture treatment for post-stroke urinary incontinence, which can provide new clinical thoughts of acupuncture treatment for post-stroke urinary incontinence.

RESUMEN

Based on ancient literature of acupuncture in Canon of Chinese Medicine (4th edition), the articles regarding acupuncture for urinary incontinence were retrieved and collected to establish a database. By Weka data mining software, the multi-level association rules analysis method was applied to analyze the acupoints selection characteristics and rules of ancient acupuncture for treatment of urinary incontinence. Totally 356 articles of acupuncture for urinary incontinence were collected, involving 41 acupoints with a total frequency of 364. As a result, (1) the acupoints in the yin-meridian of hand and foot were highly valued, as the frequency of acupoints in yin-meridians was 2.6 times than that in yang-meridians, and the frequency of acupoints selected was the most in the liver meridian of foot-jueyin; (2) the acupoints in bladder meridian of foot-taiyang were also highly valued, and among three yang-meridians of foot, the frequency of acupoints in the bladder meridian of foot-taiyang was 54, accounting for 65.85% (54/82); (3) more acupoints selected were located in the lower limbs and abdomen; (4) specific acupoints in above meridians were mostly selected, presenting 73.2% (30/41) to the ratio of number and 79.4% (289/364) to the frequency, respectively; (5) Zhongji (CV 3), the front-mu point of bladder meridian, was seldom selected in the ancient acupuncture literature, which was different from modern literature reports. The results show that urinary incontinence belongs to external genitalia diseases, which should be treated from yin, indicating more yin-meridians be used and special acupoints be focused on. It is essential to focus inheritance and innovation in TCM clinical treatment, and applying data mining technology to ancient literature of acupuncture could provide classic theory basis for TCM clinical treatment.

RESUMEN

Recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) serotype 2, 3 and 8 vectors are the most promising liver-tropic AAV serotype vectors. Liver diseases are significant problems in China. However, to date, few studies on AAV neutralizing antibodies (Nabs) were working with the Chinese population or with the rAAV3 vectors. The present study aimed to determine the prevalence of Nabs in Chinese population against wild-type AAV2, AAV3 and AAV8 capsids as well as additional two AAV3 variants. In addition, we performed a preliminary analysis to investigate the potential influence of traditional Chinese medicine body constitutions on AAV Nabs. Our work demonstrated that the majority of healthy Chinese subjects were positive for AAV Nabs, with the order of AAV2>AAV3=AAVLK03>AAV8. There was no difference between: 1) AAV3 and its variants; 2) male and female subjects; and 3) different age cohorts (≤35, 36-50, and ≥51 years old). People in the Qi-deficiency constitution had significantly increased AAV8 Nabs than people in the Gentleness constitution. Our studies may have impact on the future clinical design of AAV-based gene therapy in the Chinese population.

RESUMEN

Basin soil type, moisture content and vegetation cover index are important factors affecting the basin water of Yongding River, using traditional sampling method to investigate soil moisture and the watershed soil type not only consuming a lot of manpower and material resources but also causing experimental error because of the instrument and other objective factors. This article selecting the Yongding River Basin-Beijing section as the study area, using total station instruments to survey field sampling and determination 34 plots, combined with 6 TM image data from 1978 to 2009 to extract soil information and the relationship between region's soil type, soil moisture and remote sensing factors. Using genetic algorithms normalization to select key factors which influenced NDWI, which is based on the green band and near-infrared bands normalized ratio index, usually used to extract water information in the image. In order to accurate screening and factors related to soil moisture, using genetic algorithms preferred characteristics, accelerate the convergence by controlling the number of iterations to filter key factor. Using multiple regression method to establish NDWI inversion model, which analysis the accuracy of model is 0.987, also use the species outside edges tree to meet accuracy test, which arrived that soil available nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content and longitude correlation is not obvious, but a positive correlation with latitude and soil, inner precision researched 87.6% when the number of iterations to achieve optimal model calculation Maxgen. Models between NDWI and vegetation cover, topography, climate ect, through remote sensing and field survey methods could calculate the NDWI values compared with the traditional values, arrived the average relative error E is -0.021%, suits accord P reached 87.54%. The establishment of this model will be provide better practical and theoretical basis to the research and analysis of the watershed soil moisture and organic of Yongding River.

RESUMEN

Atmospheric nitrogen (N) deposition dramatically raised in recent decades, resulting in increases of soil N availability and N/P ratio, which would impact plant growth and P efficiency under low P stress. Taking breeding population of Pinus massoniana as test materials, a pot experiment was conducted to simulate two P conditions, i. e., homogeneous low P availability vs. heterogeneous low P among soil layers, in combination with two N deposition levels on growth traits and P absorption and utilization efficiency of P. massoniana. Under the homogeneous low phosphorus condition, growth traits and P efficiency of P. massoniana were not significantly improved by simulated nitrogen deposition, but significant nitrogen x family interaction effect was detected, with the biomass of family 40x44 and 71x20 being increased, 36x29 and 73x23 being decreased. Under the heterogeneous low P condition, significant N effects on the seedling height, biomass and P absorption efficiency were observed, due to promoted root length and root distribution ratio of topsoil. In addition, the effects of simulated N deposition on growth and P efficiency of P. massoniana were relevant to the N/P ratio. Under the homogeneous low P condition, the N/P ratio of P. massoniana plant was 13.8, plants exhibited a low sensitivity to simulated N deposition, root secreted APase activity was increased but the plant growth was not promoted. In comparison, the plant N/P ratio was 9.7 under the heterogeneous low P condition, and the plant growth and P efficiency were significantly promoted, while no obvious change occurred in root secreted APase activity.
