The Covid-19 pandemic has taken its toll on health care teams faced with deaths and hospital overcrowding. Some caregivers suffered from vicarious trauma. Analyzing the impact of this trauma, its inclusion in a context of tension, fatigue and increased lassitude, is imperative in order to propose adjusted care. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy seems to have a relevant place in this context.

The (pre-) hospital emergency nurse plays an important role in the management of these patients, in terms of assessment, treatment and monitoring as well as the organisation of the admittance of victims, categorisation and medical triage. As part of a team, the nurse ensures that the patient enters an adapted, regulated pathway, with the most serious cases being directed towards a hospital equipped with a hyperbaric medicine facility.
