RESUMEN

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a common public health concern. The global burden of CKD is increasing due to the high morbidity and mortality associated with it, indicating the shortcomings of therapeutic drugs at present. Renal fibrosis is the common pathology of CKD, which is characterized by glomerulosclerosis, renal tubular atrophy, and renal interstitial fibrosis. Natural hirudin is an active ingredient extracted from Hirudo medicinalis, which has been found to be the strongest natural specific inhibitor of thrombin. Evidence based on pharmacological data has shown that hirudin has important protective effects in CKD against diabetic nephrology, nephrotic syndrome, and renal interstitial fibrosis. The mechanisms of hirudin in treating CKD are mainly related to inhibiting the inflammatory response, preventing apoptosis of intrinsic renal cells, and inhibiting the interactions between thrombin and protease-activated receptors. In this review, we summarize the function and beneficial properties of hirudin for the treatment of CKD, and its underlying mechanisms.

Insecticide resistance has long been a problem in crop pest control. Bactericera gobica is a major pest on the well-known medicinal plants Lycium barbarum L. Investigating insecticide resistance mechanisms of B. gobica will help to identify pesticide reduction strategies to control the pest. Gene expression normalization by RT-qPCR requires the selection and validation of appropriate reference genes (RGs). Here, 15 candidate RGs were selected from transcriptome data of B. gobica. Their expression stability was evaluated with five algorithms (Delta Ct, GeNorm, Normfinder, BestKeeper and RefFinder) for sample types differing in response to five insecticide stresses and in four other experimental conditions. Our results indicated that the RGs RPL10 + RPS15 for Imidacloprid and Abamectin; RPL10 + AK for Thiamethoxam; RPL32 + RPL10 for λ-cyhalothrin; RPL10 + RPL8 for Matrine; and EF2 + RPL32 under different insecticide stresses were the most suitable RGs for RT-qPCR normalization. EF1α + RPL8, EF1α + ß-actin, ß-actin + EF2 and ß-actin + RPS15 were the optimal combination of RGs under odor stimulation, temperature, developmental stages and both sexes, respectively. Overall, EF2 and RPL8 were the two most stable RGs in all conditions, while α-TUB and RPL32 were the least stable RGs. The corresponding suitable RGs and one unstable RG were used to normalize a target cytochrome P450 CYP6a1 gene between adult and nymph stages and under imidacloprid stress. The results of CYP6a1 expression were consistent with transcriptome data. This study is the first research on the most stable RG selection in B. gobica nymphs exposed to different insecticides, which will contribute to further research on insecticide resistance mechanisms in B. gobica.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a leading neurodegenerative condition causing cognitive and memory decline. With small-molecule drugs targeting Aß proving ineffective, alternative targets are urgently needed. Neuroinflammation, which is central to AD's pathology, results in synaptic and neuronal damage, highlighting the importance of addressing inflammation and conserving neuronal integrity. Cannabidiol (CBD), derived from cannabis, is noted for its neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory properties, having shown efficacy in neuropathic pain management for epilepsy. To investigate the therapeutic efficacy of CBD in AD and to elucidate its underlying mechanisms, we aimed to contribute valuable insights for incorporating AD prevention recommendations into future CBD nutritional guidelines. Aß1-42 was employed for in vivo or in vitro model establishment, CBD treatment was utilized to assess the therapeutic efficacy of CBD, and RNA-seq analysis was conducted to elucidate the underlying therapeutic mechanism. CBD mitigates Aß-induced cognitive deficits by modulating microglial activity, promoting neurotrophic factor release, and regulating inflammatory genes. The administration of CBD demonstrated a protective effect against Aß toxicity both in vitro and in vivo, along with an amelioration of cognitive impairment in mice. These findings support the potential inclusion of CBD in future nutritional guidelines for Alzheimer's disease prevention.

BACKGROUND: Patients with N2-3 nasopharyngeal carcinoma have a high risk of treatment being unsuccessful despite the current practice of using a concurrent adjuvant cisplatin-fluorouracil regimen. We aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of concurrent adjuvant cisplatin-gemcitabine with cisplatin-fluorouracil in N2-3 nasopharyngeal carcinoma. METHODS: We conducted an open-label, randomised, controlled, phase 3 trial at four cancer centres in China. Eligible patients were aged 18-65 years with untreated, non-keratinising, stage T1-4 N2-3 M0 nasopharyngeal carcinoma, an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status score of 0-1, and adequate bone marrow, liver, and renal function. Eligible patients were randomly assigned (1:1) to receive concurrent cisplatin (100 mg/m2 intravenously) on days 1, 22, and 43 of intensity-modulated radiotherapy followed by either gemcitabine (1 g/m2 intravenously on days 1 and 8) and cisplatin (80 mg/m2 intravenously for 4 h on day 1) once every 3 weeks or fluorouracil (4 g/m2 in continuous intravenous infusion for 96 h) and cisplatin (80 mg/m2 intravenously for 4 h on day 1) once every 4 weeks, for three cycles. Randomisation was done using a computer-generated random number code with a block size of six, stratified by treatment centre and nodal category. The primary endpoint was 3-year progression-free survival in the intention-to-treat population (ie, all patients randomly assigned to treatment). Safety was assessed in all participants who received at least one dose of chemoradiotherapy. This study was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT03321539, and patients are currently under follow-up. FINDINGS: From Oct 30, 2017, to July 9, 2020, 240 patients (median age 44 years [IQR 36-52]; 175 [73%] male and 65 [27%] female) were randomly assigned to the cisplatin-fluorouracil group (n=120) or cisplatin-gemcitabine group (n=120). As of data cutoff (Dec 25, 2022), median follow-up was 40 months (IQR 32-48). 3-year progression-free survival was 83·9% (95% CI 75·9-89·4; 19 disease progressions and 11 deaths) in the cisplatin-gemcitabine group and 71·5% (62·5-78·7; 34 disease progressions and seven deaths) in the cisplatin-fluorouracil group (stratified hazard ratio 0·54 [95% CI 0·32-0·93]; log rank p=0·023). The most common grade 3 or worse adverse events that occurred during treatment were leukopenia (61 [52%] of 117 in the cisplatin-gemcitabine group vs 34 [29%] of 116 in the cisplatin-fluorouracil group; p=0·00039), neutropenia (37 [32%] vs 19 [16%]; p=0·010), and mucositis (27 [23%] vs 32 [28%]; p=0·43). The most common grade 3 or worse late adverse event (occurring from 3 months after completion of radiotherapy) was auditory or hearing loss (six [5%] vs ten [9%]). One (1%) patient in the cisplatin-gemcitabine group died due to treatment-related complications (septic shock caused by neutropenic infection). No patients in the cisplatin-fluorouracil group had treatment-related deaths. INTERPRETATION: Our findings suggest that concurrent adjuvant cisplatin-gemcitabine could be used as an adjuvant therapy in the treatment of patients with N2-3 nasopharyngeal carcinoma, although long-term follow-up is required to confirm the optimal therapeutic ratio. The medicinal plant Cistanche deserticola Ma (Orobanchaceae) is a holoparasitic angiosperm that takes life-essential materials from Haloxylon ammodendron (C. A. Mey.) Bunge (Amaranthaceae) roots. Although many experiments have been conducted to improve the quality of C. deserticola, little attention has been paid to the host's influence on metabolite accumulation. In this study, transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses were performed to unveil the host's role in C. deserticola's metabolite accumulation, especially of phenylethanoid glycosides (PhGs). The results indicate that parasitism by C. deserticola causes significant changes in H. ammodendron roots in relation to metabolites and genes linked to phenylalanine metabolism, tryptophan metabolism and phenylpropanoid biosynthesis pathways, which provide precursors for PhGs. Correlation analysis of genes and metabolites further confirms that C. deserticola's parasitism affects PhG biosynthesis in H. ammodendron roots. Then we found specific upregulation of glycosyltransferases in haustoria which connect the parasites and hosts. It was shown that C. deserticola absorbs PhG precursors from the host and that glycosylation takes place in the haustorium. We mainly discuss how the host resists C. deserticola parasitism and how this medicinal parasite exploits its unfavorable position and takes advantage of host-derived metabolites. Our study highlights that the status of the host plant affects not only the production but also the quality of Cistanches Herba, which provides a practical direction for medicinal plant cultivation.

Goji berry (Lycium barbarum L.) is a traditional Chinese herbal medicinal plant that is extensively cultivated in the arid and semiarid regions of northwest China. In this study, a novel cytorhabdovirus, tentatively named "goji cytorhabdovirus A (GCVA)," was identified from the goji berry plant exhibiting leaf crinkle symptoms through high-throughput sequencing (HTS). GCVA contains a linear, negative sense single-stranded RNA genome of 14,812 nucleotides and encodes six open reading frames in the order of 3' leader-N-P-P4-M-G-L-5' trailer. The genome of GCVA shares the highest nucleotide (nt) identity of 65.80% (16% query coverage) with yerba mate virus A (YmVA) (NC_076472). The N and L proteins also share low amino acid (aa) identities (<35.42 and < 41.23%, respectively) with known cytorhabdoviruses. Typical features of the viruses in the genus Cytorhabdovirus include a highly conserved consensus sequence in the intergenic regions and extensive complementation of the 5' non-coding trailer and the 3' leader. These features were also found in GCVA. These data in combination with a phylogenetic analysis that was based on the aa sequences of the N and L proteins support the proposal that GCVA is a new species in the genus Cytorhabdovirus.

Pseudostellaria heterophylla is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine, which has been cultivated for hundreds of years. Viral diseases of P. heterophylla occur widely and limit the yield and quality of this medicinal plant. In this study, five leaf samples of P. heterophylla with typical viral symptoms were collected from four main producing regions that are distributed in Fujian, Guizhou, and Anhui Provinces in China and analyzed by next-generation sequencing. Comprehensive bioinformatics analyses revealed that nine viruses in five genera Carlavirus, Potyvirus, Fabavirus, Cucumovirus, and Amalgavirus infected P. heterophylla. Among these viruses, three novel and two known carlaviruses, tentatively designated Pseudostellaria heterophylla carlavirus 1, 2, and 3 (PhCV1, PhCV2, and PhCV3), Jasmine virus C isolate Ph (Ph-JVC) and Stevia carlavirus 1 isolate Ph (Ph-StCV1), respectively, were first identified in P. heterophylla. PhCV1-3 share a similar genomic organization and clear sequence homology with members in the genus Carlavirus and could potentially be classified as new species of this genus. One novel amalgavirus, tentatively designated P. heterophylla amalgavirus 1 (PhAV1), was first identified in P. heterophylla. It had a typical genomic organization of the genus Amalgavirus. In PhAV1, the + 1 programmed ribosomal frameshifting, which is prevalent in most amalgaviruses, was identified and used in the expression of RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp). Combined with a phylogenetic analysis, PhAV1 could potentially be classified as new species of the genus Amalgavirus. In addition, multiple Broad bean wilt virus 2 (BBWV2) variants, Turnip mosaic virus (TuMV), and Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV), which have been reported in P. heterophylla, were also detected in this study. The distribution of PhCV1-3, Ph-JVC, Ph-StCV1, TuMV, BBWV2, and CMV in four production regions in Fujian, Guizhou, and Anhui Provinces was determined. This study increased our understanding of P. heterophylla virome and provided valuable information for the development of a molecular diagnostic technique and control of viral diseases in P. heterophylla.

Goji fruit fly, Neoceratitis asiatica, is a major pest on the well-known medicinal plant Lycium barbarum. Dissecting molecular mechanisms of infestation and host selection of N. asiatica will contribute to the determination of best management practices for pest fly control. Gene expression normalization by Real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR) requires the selection and validation of appropriate reference genes (RGs). Hence, 15 candidate RGs were selected from transcriptome data of N. asiatica. Their expression stability was evaluated with five algorithms (∆Ct, Normfinder, GeNorm, BestKeeper, and RefFinder) for sample types differing in the developmental stage, sex, tissue type, and in response to five different abiotic stresses. Our results indicated that the RGs ß-Actin + GST for sex, RPL32 + EF1α for tissue type, RPS13+ EF1α for developmental stages along with odor stimulation, color induction, and starvation-refeeding stresses, EF1α + GAPDH under insecticide stress, RPS13 + RPS18 under temperature stress, respectively, were selected as the most suitable RGs for qPCR normalization. Overall, RPS18 and EF1α were the two most stable RGs in all conditions, while RPS15 and EF1ß were the least stable RGs. The corresponding suitable RGs and one unstable RG were used to normalize a target odorant-binding protein OBP56a gene in male and female antennae, different tissues, and under odor stimulation. The results of OBP56a expression were consistent with transcriptome data. Our study is the first research on the most stable RGs selection in N. asiatica, which will facilitate further studies on the mechanisms of host selection and insecticide resistance in N. asiatica.

We examined the effects of root extracts of Haloxylon ammodendron and Beta vulgaris in Chenopodiaceae extracted by water and ethanol on seed germination and haustorium formation of Cistanche deserticola by filter paper culture dish method. The results showed that only adding root extract had no effect on seed germination and haustorium formation of C. deserticola. The germination rate of C. deserticola seeds treated by adding 10 mg·kg-1 gibberellin to the root extracted by ethanol was not significantly different from that of the control (GA3), whereas those treated by adding gibberellin to the ethanol extract of two kinds of host root was increased by more than 10 times. The germination rate of C. deserticola seeds in the treatment with adding 1 mg·kg-1 fluridone (FL) to root extract was not significantly different from that in the control with only fluridone, while those in the treatment with B. vulgaris root water extraction was the highest (39.4%). Compared to the treatment of adding gibberellin to the root extract, the germination rate of C. deserticola seeds was only increased. When FL was added to the host root extract, the haustorium was formed on the germination tube, with the formation rate of the ethanol extraction group being the highest (16.2%). Seed germination rate of C. deserticola increased to 52.3% when GA3 and FL were added to the ethanol extract of H. ammodendron, but the formation rate of haustorium was not different from that of FL treatment. Only 6.7% of the seed formation haustorium in the control was significantly lower than that in FL treatment. There were differences in the position and shape of the haustorium of C. deserticola seeds under different treatments. The haustorium produced by adding the extract of the host root mostly appeared at the top of the bud tube, and many papillae raised into claws. The haustorium of FL treatment without adding the extract of the host root mostly appeared at the bottom or the top of the bud tube splitting. The results indicated that ethanol extraction and water extraction could extract the substances that could promote the formation of C. deserticola seeds haustorium from the host root, but did not affect seed germination. GA3 and FL could significantly improve the germination rate of C. deserticola seeds, but the formation of the haustorium was affected by some substances in the host root extract.

Aceria pallida is one of the most common pests in the main production areas of Lycium barbarum in China. The mite mainly feeds on foliage, leading to local tissue deformation and formation of massive galls, which seriously affects the growth and yield of L. barbarum. However, little is known about the influence of galling organisms on plant primary and secondary metabolism. In order to compare the metabolites differences between healthy and the mite infested leaves of wolfberry, and provide a scientific basis for the development and utilization of the galled leaves, L. barbarum seedlings were infested with A. pallida artificially in the laboratory, the metabolites of L. barbarum leaves were determined by LC-MS/MS. Our results showed that the leaves were rich in amino acids and flavonoid compounds. A total of 204 compounds from 16 classes were detected in L. barbarum leaves based on LC-MS/MS. The primary metabolites are mainly amino acids, and the secondary metabolites are mainly organic acids and flavonoids. The content of the metabolite in the leaves of L. barbarum was significantly affected by the mite, 30 metabolites such as flavonoids and phenylpropanoids were significantly changed, 21 metabolites were up-regulated and 9 metabolites were down-regulated significantly. There were 8 compounds which has pharmacological and biological activity, such as eriodictyol, isorhamnetin-3-O-neohesperidoside and scopoletin up-regulated significantly. Based on the above findings, we suggest that the galled leaves of L.barbarum have a potential to be developed in the future.

BACKGROUND: Breast cancer is still the most common malignant tumor that threatens the female's life in the world, especially triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), one of the most difficult subtypes. Lack of targeted therapies brings about urgent demand for novel treatments. In this study we aim to investigate the anti-tumor activity of Berberine (BBR), a Chinese plant-derived alkaloid, against the TNBC cell line MDA-MB-231 and elucidate its mechanism referring to anti-inflammation. METHODS: Cell inhibition rate was measured by Cell Proliferation Assay, the cytotoxic effects was detected by Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) leakage assay, the colony formation and migration potential were evaluated by colony formation assay and wound healing assay, the release of inflammatory cytokines was detected by EMD multifactor detection, and alterations of proteins and genes related to the NLR family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome pathway were analyzed using western blotting and real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). RESULTS: BBR reduce the viability of MDA-MB-231 cells and increased the release of LDH from the cells in a dose-dependent manner, with and inhibition of colony formation potential and migration of the cells. BBR also caused a marked reduction in the secretion of proinflammatory cytokines, Interleukin-1α (IL-1α), Interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß), Interleukin-6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). Besides, a down-regulated behavior was observed with the expression of P2X purinoceptor 7 (P2X7), NLRP3, pro-caspase-1, apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a caspase-activation and recruitment domain (ASC), caspase-1 p20, Interleukin-18 (IL-18), IL-1ß proteins and NLRP3, Caspase-1 and ASC mRNAs in the NLRP3 inflammasome cascade. CONCLUSIONS: Our results confirmed that BBR can effectively affect both tumor outgrowth and spontaneous metastasis in TNBC, and that we identified a new mechanism associated with inhibition the NLRP3 inflammasome pathway, suggesting its potential therapeutic relevance in clinical use.

To identify the wolfberry gall mite species and their overwintering situation in different wolfberry production areas and to provide a scientific basis for their prevention and control. We investigate the phoresy overwintering situation of gall mite, and identify the species of gall mite. Our results showed that the phoretic gall mite was Aceria pallida in all the production areas. The phoresy of gall mite was a common occurrence in different production areas, and the phoresy probability was above 75%. The phoretic behavior of wolfberry gall mite occurred commonly in the other production areas. The control of this mite in different production areas should pay attention to their phoretic behavior.

RESUMEN

To compare the polysaccharides( LBLP),total flavonoids( LBLTF) and total phenols( LBLTP) of Lycium barbarum leaves from 14 production areas from Ningxia,Qinghai and Gansu at different harvesting time. Our results showed that there were significant difference of LBLP,LBLTF and LBLTP among different production areas. The LBLP collected from Xiangride township production area,Dulan,Qinghai was as high as 15. 02%. The LBLTF collected from Dagele township production area,Geermu,Qinghai was as high as28. 63%. The LBLTP collected from Keluke township production area,Delingha,Qinghai was as high as 16. 7%. There were also significant difference of these 3 components between different harvest periods. The average LBLP in May( 10. 20%) was significantly higher than that in June( 8. 49%). However,the average LBLTF( 17. 71%) and LBLTP( 12. 77%) in June was significantly higher than that in May( 14. 15%,11. 19%). The LBLTF and LBLTP have a positive correlation with the altitude of production areas,but there was no significant association between LBLP and altitude. The LBLP,LBLTF and LBLTP in different production areas and harvesting time was significant difference,the results provide some references for furthermore development and utilization of L. barbarum leaves.

Heortia vitessoides is the most serious pest of Aquilaria sinensis,which is an economically important evergreen tree native to China and is the principal source of Chinese agarwood. In severe infestations,the insects completely eat up the leaves of A. sinensis,causing severe economic losses. In a more recent study,we found that the antennal sensilla of adult play important roles in the host location,mating and oviposition of H. vitessoides. Here,the external morphology of the antennal sensilla of H. vitessoides were examined using scanning electron microscopy. The result showed that the antennae of both sexes of H. vitessoides were filiform in shape,which consist of the scape,pedicel and about 64 segments of flagellomeres. Eight morphological sensilla types were recorded in both sexes,including sensilla trichodea,sensilla chaetica,sensilla basiconica,sensilla coeloconica,sensilla styloconica,sensilla auricillica,sensilla squamiformia and böhm bristle. Major differences were recorded in the distribution and quantity of different sensilla types in each segment of antenna. The sensillas are almost confined to the ventral and lateral surfaces rather than the back side of antennae. Antennal flagella contained the most sensilla while the scape and pedicel segments only contained böhm bristles and sensilla squamiformias. Sensilla trichodea Ⅲ were only found on male antennae. These results are discussed in relation to the possible roles of the sensilla types in the host location,mating and oviposition selection behavior of H. vitessoides.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients can be separated into two risk subgroups according to tumor responses to induction chemotherapy (IC). We aimed to elucidate the optimal cumulative cisplatin dose (CCD) of concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) for different NPC patient subgroups. PARTICIPANTS AND METHODS: A total of 990 patients with incident NPC diagnosed between 2008 and 2017 treated with IC plus CCRT were included in our observational study. The clinicopathological features of patients with different tumor responses were compared using the Chi-square test or Fisher's exact test. Prognosis was assessed using a multivariate Cox proportional hazards model. In addition, acute and late toxicities were compared between different CCD groups. RESULTS: After IC, 761/990 (76.9%) patients had a complete tumor response (CR)/partial response (PR) and 229 (23.1%) had stable disease (SD)/disease progression (PD). An unsatisfactory tumor response (SD/PD) after IC correlated with poor clinical outcome (3-year PFS 61.4% vs. 83.2%, P < 0.001 and 3-year LRFS 80.9% vs. 94.5%, P < 0.001). Patients who achieved CR/PR after IC received a CCD >200 mg/m2 and showed higher 3-year PFS and DMFS rates than those receiving a CCD <100 mg/m2 (PFS: 85.4% vs. 77.9%, P = 0.045; DMFS: 89.4% vs. 77.9%, P = 0.015). Multivariate analysis also showed that CCD was an independent prognostic factor for PFS and DMFS in CR/PR subgroup. Moreover, the medium dose group showed similar efficacy as high dose group but was associated with fewer grade 1-4 acute toxicities. However, application of different CCD didn't result in significantly different survival outcomes in SD/PD subgroup. CONCLUSIONS: Tumor response to IC was an independent prognostic factor for patients with NPC. For the patients who achieved CR/PR after IC, patients receiving high CCD showed significantly improved 3-year PFS and DMFS compared with patients receiving low CCD. Balancing toxicity and efficacy, 200 mg/m2 seemed to be the optimal dose in the CR/PR groups. However, enhancement of CCD did not provide survival benefit for patients who achieved SD/PD after IC, and treatment options for these patients require further consideration.

Periplaneta americana is an important medicinal insect. A series of new drugs developed from it have remarkable clinical effects and are in great demand in the market. Because of unclear biology, the quality and yield of P. americana are affected. Understanding the developmental threshold temperature and effective accumulated temperature of P. americana can provide theoretical basis for standardized culture of P.americana. Under climate chamber, the threshold temperature and effective accumulated temperature for egg development of P. americana to were determined through effective accumulated temperature law. The threshold temperature was (15.8±0.71)°C, the effective accumulated temperature was 415.8±38.05 degree days. A model of the relationship between temperature and developmental rates was established.

The longhorn beetle, Xylotrechus grayii (White, 1855), is a serious woodborer pest of many economic and medicinal plants. The maxillary and labial palps of X. grayii adults are strongly involved in mating and host selection behaviors. To further develop control strategies of the pest, sensilla on the palps were studied with scanning and transmission electron microscopy. Five types of sensilla (nine subtypes) were identified: sensilla styloconica (four subtypes, Sty1-4), sensilla chaetica (2 subtypes, SC1-2), sensilla digitiformia (Di), sensilla basiconica (Ba), and Böhm sensilla (Bm). Sty and Ba have dendrites and wall pores. SC2 has a tubular body. Di exist only on the terminal segment of the maxillary palp. Sty numbers are the highest in both palps, followed by SC. The number of sensilla in the maxillary palp is significantly higher than that in the labial palp. There are no significant sexual differences in sensilla types, characteristics, distribution, and quantity in the maxillary or labial palps, except for the number of SC sensilla on the maxillary palp. Sensilla functions were compared with correlative sensilla in previous studies. Sty may be sense gustation and olfaction stimulation, while SC are mechanoreceptors. Ba are likely thermo- and hygroreceptors. The phylliform depression area formed by Di may exert multiple functions. Bm may sense palp position and movement. These results contribute to the study of the electrophysiology and behavior mechanisms of X. grayii.

Through indoor and field comparative experiments, the properties of membrane type leaf evaporation inhibitors and its effects on photosynthesis of Lycium barbarum and compatibility and synergistic of pesticide were studied. The evaporation inhibitors and L. barbarum were chosen to investigate the suppression of water evaporation and the compatibility with pesticides. The effect of evaporation inhibitors on photosynthesis of L. barbarum leaves was determined by the chlorophyll fluorescence imaging system. The results showed that water evaporation of L. barbarum leaves of different leaf age were evidently suppressed after treated with evaporation inhibitor. The inhibitor was well compatible with pesticide and effectively improved the pesticide efficacy,and had no significant effect on chlorophyll fluorescence parameters. It is concluded that the evaporation inhibitor has good compatibility with the pesticide, and has remarkable effect of restraining moisture evaporation, which make it can be used for reducing the dosage and improving the efficacy of the pesticide in the field of L. barbarum.

Spatial-temporal distributions, sources identification and risk assessment of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in overlying water and surface sediments in urban river networks of Shanghai were studied. Analytical results showed that there was a significant seasonal variation in concentrations of ∑16PAHs in water, suspended particulate matter (SPM) and sediment phases in this study area. The PAHs pollution in these multi-phases were in the medium level compared with other areas around the world, and the levels of PAHs contamination in SPM and sediment phases in hierarchical rivers showed TS (the third-order stream) > FS (the first-order stream) > SS (the second-order stream). Two manners of isomer ratios and principal component analysis (PCA) were used to identify PAHs origins, and suggested that combustion processes are dominant for PAHs sources. The ratios of PAHs origins by fossil fuels combustion, coke burning and crude oil in hierarchical rivers were determined with FS > SS > TS in SPM and sediment phases, and the ratio of PAHs origins by traffic emissions was analyzed with TS > SS > FS. PAHs in water samples have a certain impact on aqueous ecological system especially due to the fact that the ∑ceq values of nine PAHs were calculated from 0.715 to 15.831 µg/L in winter, which inferred serious ecological risk to some special aquatic organisms. The calculations of MERMQ in sediment samples showed that the MERMQ values ranged from 0.021 to 1.209 in winter and 0.019 to 0.643 in summer, which suggested high toxicity at six sampling sites in winter and only one location in summer due to high levels of PAHs. Furthermore, the toxicity degree of sediments were demonstrated with TS > FS > SS.

The safety interval period and residue dynamics of two main components (XDE-175-J and XDE-175-L) of spinetoram in wolfberry were measured. Field experiment design and sampling method were carried out according to the "Guideline on pesticide residue trials". The wolfberry samples were extracted with acetonitrile by ultrasonic, and analyzed by UPLC-MS/MS. The wolfberry was sprayed with 6% spinetoram suspension concentrate (SC) at recommended dosage (1 500 times) and doubling dosage (750 times) (one time) at fructescence of wolfberry. The half-lives of spinetoram residue under recommended dosage treatment was 3.65-4.25 d, and all the fresh and dried fruits conform to first order kinetics equation. The dissipation rate was over 95% in fresh and dried fruits at 14 d after application. In conclusion, spinetoram belongs to the easily degradable pesticide type.
