RESUMEN

Central nervous system (CNS) diseases have become one of the leading causes of death in the global population. The pathogenesis of CNS diseases is complicated, so it is important to find the patterns of the disease to improve the treatment strategy. Microglia are considered to be a double-edged sword, playing both harmful and beneficial roles in CNS diseases. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the progression of the disease and the changes in the polar phenotype of microglia to provide guidance in the treatment of CNS diseases. Microglia activation may evolve into different phenotypes: M1 and M2 types. We focused on the roles that M1 and M2 microglia play in regulating intercellular dialogues, pathological reactions and specific diseases in CNS diseases. Importantly, we summarized the strategies used to modulate the polarization phenotype of microglia, including traditional pharmacological modulation, biological therapies, and physical strategies. This review will contribute to the development of potential strategies to modulate microglia polarization phenotypes and provide new alternative therapies for CNS diseases.

RESUMEN

Background: Advanced pancreatic cancer (APC) is a fatal disease with limited treatment options. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of different Chinese herbal injections (CHIs) as adjuvants for radiotherapy (RT) in APC and compare their treatment potentials using network meta-analysis. Methods: We systematically searched three English and four Chinese databases for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) from inception to July 25, 2023. The primary outcome was the objective response rate (ORR). Secondary outcomes included Karnofsky performance status (KPS) score, overall survival (OS), and adverse events (AEs). The treatment potentials of different CHIs were ranked using the surface under the cumulative ranking curve (SUCRA). The Cochrane RoB 2 tool and CINeMA were used for quality assessment and evidence grading. Results: Eighteen RCTs involving 1199 patients were included. Five CHIs were evaluated. Compound Kushen injection (CKI) combined with RT significantly improved ORR compared to RT alone (RR 1.49, 95 % CrI 1.21-1.86). Kanglaite (KLT) plus RT (RR 1.58, 95 % CrI 1.20-2.16) and CKI plus RT (RR 1.49, 95 % CrI 1.16-1.95) were associated with improved KPS score compared to radiation monotherapy, with KLT+RT being the highest rank (SUCRA 72.28 %). Regarding AEs, CKI plus RT was the most favorable in reducing the incidence of leukopenia (SUCRA 90.37 %) and nausea/vomiting (SUCRA 85.79 %). Conclusions: CKI may be the optimal choice of CHIs to combine with RT for APC as it may improve clinical response, quality of life, and reduce AEs. High-quality trials are necessary to establish a robust body of evidence. Protocol registration: PROSPERO, CRD42023396828.

RESUMEN

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Saikosaponins B2 (SSB2) is one of the main active components isolated from Radix Bupleuri (Bupleurum chinense DC.), a herb widely used of traditional Chinese medicine. It has been used for the treatment of depression for more than two thousand years. However, the molecular mechanisms remain to be determined. AIM OF THE STUDY: In this study, we evaluated the anti-inflammatory effect and elucidated underlying molecular mechanisms of SSB2 in LPS-induced primary microglia and CUMS-induced mice model of depression. METHOD: The effects of SSB2 treatment were investigated both in vitro and in vivo. The chronic unpredictable mild stimulation (CUMS) procedure was applied to establish the animal model of depression. Behavioural tests were used to evaluate the depressive-like behaviors in CUMS-exposed mice, including sucrose preference test, open field test, tail suspension test, and forced swimming test. The GPX4 gene of microglia was silenced using shRNA, and inflammatory cytokines were determined by Western Blot and immunofluorescence analysis. Endoplasmic reticulum stress and ferroptosis-related markers were detected by qPCR, flow cytometry and confocal microscopy. RESULT: SSB2 reversed depressive-like behaviours in CUMS-exposed mice and relieved central neuroinflammation and ameliorated hippocampal neural damage. SSB2 alleviated LPS-induced activation of microglia through the TLR4/NF-κB pathway. LPS-induced ferroptosis, with increased levels of ROS, intracellular Fe2+, mitochondrial membrane potential, lipid peroxidation, GSH, SLC7A11, FTH, GPX4 and Nrf2, and decreased transcription levels of ACSL4 and TFR1, was attenuated with SSB2 treatment in primary microglia cells. GPX4 knockdown activated ferroptosis, induced endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, and abrogated the protective effects of SSB2. Further, SSB2 attenuated ER stress, balanced calcium homeostasis, reduced lipid peroxidation and intracellular Fe2+ content by regulating the level of intracellular Ca2+. CONCLUSIONS: Our study suggested that SSB2 treatment can inhibit ferroptosis, maintain calcium homeostasis, relieve endoplasmic reticulum stress and attenuate central neuroinflammation. SSB2 exhibited anti-ferroptosis and anti-neuroinflammatory effects through the TLR4/NF-κB pathway in a GPX4-dependent manner.

RESUMEN

Cognitive impairment (CI), mainly Alzheimer's disease (AD), continues to increase in prevalence and is emerging as one of the major health problems in society. However, until now, there are no first-line therapeutic agents for the allopathic treatment or reversal of the disease course. Therefore, the development of therapeutic modalities or drugs that are effective, easy to use, and suitable for long-term administration is important for the treatment of CI such as AD. Essential oils (EOs) extracted from natural herbs have a wide range of pharmacological components, low toxicity, and wide sources, In this review, we list the history of using volatile oils against cognitive disorders in several countries, summarize EOs and monomeric components with cognitive improvement effects, and find that they mainly act by attenuating the neurotoxicity of amyloid beta, anti-oxidative stress, modulating the central cholinergic system, and improving microglia-mediated neuroinflammation. And combined with aromatherapy, the unique advantages and potential of natural EOs in the treatment of AD and other disorders were discussed. This review hopes to provide scientific basis and new ideas for the development and application of natural medicine EOs in the treatment of CI.

RESUMEN

The essential oils of Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort. (CXEO) are considered to be important parts of the pharmacological action of Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort. CXEO have a wide range of applications in various fields. Despite the interesting properties of CXEO, the volatility and low solubility have limited the application. Liposomes are vesicles composed of concentric bilayer lipids arranged around the water environment. Therefore, this study aimed to prepare stable CXEO liposomes (CXEO-LP) to improve the properties. Then, CXEO-LP were prepared by thin film dispersion method and optimized. The results showed that CXEO-LP were well dispersed. Subsequently, in vitro release and antioxidant properties of CXEO-LP were researched. CXEO-LP had slow release effect and oxidation resistance, indicating CXEO-LP may be a potential drug for treating cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury (CIRI). The nasal mucosa toxicity test and acute toxicity test showed that CXEO-LP had no obvious toxicity to nasal cavity, heart, liver, spleen, lung and kidney tissues. Pharmacodynamic studies found that CXEO-LP significantly improved neurological deficits and brain pathology in a mouse model of CIRI compared to CXEO after intranasal administration. In general, this study showed that CXEO-LP were easy to prepare and continuously released, and had an important development prospect in the treatment of CIRI.

RESUMEN

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease, which has brought a huge burden to the world. The current therapeutic approach of one-molecule-one-target strategy fails to address the issues of AD because of multiple pathological features of AD. Traditionally, the herb of Angelica sinensis (AS) comes from the root of an umbrella plant Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels. As a typical medicine-food herb, studies have shown that AS can alleviate AD and AD-complications by multiple targets through the various foundations of pharmaceutical material and dietary supply basis. Therefore, this review summarizes the pharmacological effects of AS for the treatment of AD and AD-complications for the first time. AS contains many effective components, such as ligustilide, z-ligustilide, n-butylidenephthalide, α-pinene, p-cymene, myrcene, ferulic acid, vanillic acid and coniferyl ferulate. It is found that AS, AS-active compounds and AS-compound recipes mainly treat AD through neuroprotective, anti-inflammation, and anti-oxidant effects, improving mitochondrial dysfunction, anti-neuronal apoptosis, regulating autophagy, regulating intestinal flora and enhancing the central cholinergic system, which shows the multi-component and multi-target effect of AS. The role of dietary supplement components in AS for AD intervention is summarized, including vitamin B12, folic acid, arginine, and oleic acid, which can improve the symptoms of AD. Besides, this review focuses on the safety and toxicity evaluation of AS, which provides a basis for its application. This review will provide further support for the research on AD and the application of medicine-food herb AS in a healthy lifestyle in the future.

RESUMEN

Internal organs fibrosis (IOF) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in most chronic inflammatory diseases, which is responsible for 45% of deaths due to disease. However, there is a paucity of drugs used to treat IOF, making it urgent to find medicine with good efficacy, low toxic side effects and good prognosis. Essential oils (EOs) extracted from natural herbs with a wide range of pharmacological components, multiple therapeutic targets, low toxicity, and broad sources have unique advantages and great potential in the treatment of IOF. In this review, we summarized EOs and their monomeric components with anti-IOF, and found that they work mainly through inhibiting TGF-ß-related signaling pathways, modulating inflammatory cytokines, suppressing NF-κB, and anti-oxidative stress. The prognostic improvement of natural EOs on IOF was further discussed, as well as the quality and safety issues in the current development of natural EOs. This review hopes to provide scientific basis and new ideas for the development and application of natural medicine EOs in anti-IOF.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effects of Hongjing-1 Recipe (HJ-1) on erectile function and the expression of the gap junction protein Connexin43 (Cx43) in the penile tissue in male rats with bilateral cavernous nerve injury (BCNI). METHODS: Fifty male SD rats were randomly divided into five groups of an equal number: sham operation, BCNI model control, and low-, medium- and high-dose HJ-1. The BCNI model was made in the latter four groups by clamping the bilateral cavernous nerves with hemostatic forceps. Three days after modeling, the rats in the sham operation and BCNI model control groups were treated intragastrically with pure water and those in the low-, medium- and high-dose HJ-1 groups with HJ-1 at 2.835, 5.67 and 11.34 g/kg/d, respectively, all for 28 successive days. Then, the animals were subjected to intracavernous pressure (ICP) measurement for evaluation of their erectile function and immunofluorescence staining and Western blot for determination of the Cx43 level in the penile tissue. RESULTS: The BCNI model controls, compared with the rats in the sham operation group, showed a dramatically decreased ratio of maximum ICP to mean arterial pressure (mICP/MAP) (0.40 ± 0.04 vs 0.83 ± 0.10, P < 0.01) and that of total ICP to MAP (tICP/MAP) (21.89 ± 2.16 vs 50.27 ± 4.45, P < 0.01), as well as a down-regulated expression of Cx43 in the penile tissue (P < 0.01). In comparison with the rats in the BCNI model control group, those in the medium- and high-dose HJ-1 groups exhibited significantly increased ratios of mICP/MAP (0.54 ± 0.05, P < 0.05; 0.61 ± 0.06, P < 0.01) and tICP/MAP (31.20 ± 3.85, P < 0.01; 37.82 ± 4.17, P < 0.01) and up-regulated expression of Cx43 (P<0.05 and P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS: Hongjing-1 Recipe can effectively improve ED in rats with bilateral cavernous nerve injury, which may be attributed to its effect of maintaining the expression level of the gap junction protein Cx43 in the penile tissue.

RESUMEN

Neurogenic erectile dysfunction (NED) is an inevitable postoperative disease of cavernous nerve injury which will lead to various pathophysiological changes in the corpus cavernosum and dorsal penile nerve caused by radical prostatectomy (RP). Although serval years of clinical application of HJIG I granules (HJIG), an innovative formulation, has demonstrated its reliable clinical efficacy against NED, the mechanism of HJIG remains unclear. This study aimed to assess the neuroprotective effect of HJIG, to repair damaged nerves in a rat model of bilateral cavernous nerve injury (BCNI) in vivo and their effects on neurites of major pelvic ganglia (MPG) regeneration and Schwann cells (SCs) proliferation in vitro. Rats were divided into five groups randomly: normal control (NC), BCNI-induced ED model (M), M + low-dose HJIG (HL), M + medium-dose HJIG (HM), and M + high-dose HJIG (HH). All groups were treated with normal saline or the relevant drug for 28 consecutive days after a standard NED animal model. Our data revealed that administration of HJIG improved NED that was detected by intracavernous pressure (ICP) in a dose-dependent manner. The haematoxylin-eosin (HE) and Immunofluorescence (IF) staining demonstrated that HJIG ameliorate the shape of penis and induced the protein synthesis of GAP43, NF200, S100, and nNOS. NF200 and S100 level were also detected by western blotting. Moreover, HJIG (0.78 mg/mL) markedly increased SCs viability and promoted neurites regeneration of MPG. These findings provide new insights into the NED therapy by HJIG.

RESUMEN

HongJing I (HJI), a traditional Chinese herbal formula, has been confirmed to be effective for the clinical treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). However, the mechanism of action of HJI remains unclear. Here, we aimed to investigate the effect and underlying mechanisms of HJI against ED in a rat model of bilateral cavernous nerve injury (BCNI). Rats were divided into five groups: normal control (NC), BCNI-induced ED model (M), M + low-dose HJI (HL), M + medium-dose HJI (HM), and M + high-dose HJI (HH). All groups were treated with normal saline or the relevant drug for 28 consecutive days after inducing BCNI-ED. At the end of the treatment period, the intracavernous pressure (ICP) was recorded, and histological examination was conducted using Masson's trichrome staining. Immunofluorescence staining and western blotting were applied to detect the changes in fibrosis protein and Ras homolog A (RhoA), Rho-associated protein kinase 1 (ROCK1), and ROCK2 expression. We found that HJI effectively improved the ICP in the treatment groups. In addition, RhoA, ROCK1, and ROCK2 expression levels were increased upon BCNI-ED induction, and HJI successfully inhibited cavernosum fibrosis and the activation of RhoA/ROCK2 signaling. Overall, these results suggest that the effects of HJI in attenuating ED may be caused, at least in part, by the suppression of RhoA/ROCK2 signaling and alleviation of fibrosis. However, the precise mechanism surrounding this requires further investigation in future studies.

RESUMEN

In this study, the effect of various supports on activation of peroxymonosulfate and consequent degradation of Acid Orange 7 (AO7) in aqueous solutions was examined at the presence of LaFeO3 perovskite as catalyst. Results showed that the AO7 degradation efficiency by LaFeO3 supported on different supports was in an order of LaFeO3/Al2O3 (86.2%) > LaFeO3 (70.8%) > LaFeO3/CeO2 (59.0%) > LaFeO3/SiO2 (52.3%) > LaFeO3/TiO2 (32.2%). Moreover, the pseudo first-order rate constant for AO7 degradation by LaFeO3/Al2O3 was 3.2 times than that by LaFeO3. The enhancement was attributed to its large surface area, abundant chemisorbed surface-active oxygen, redox property and faster electron transfer. AO7 degradation and the leaching of iron ions decreased with the increase of pH. Data of electron spin resonance spectroscopy and quenching experiments revealed that sulfate and hydroxyl radicals were generated on LaFeO3/Al2O3 surface, while sulfate radicals were identified to be the main reactive species responsible for AO7 degradation. Mechanisms for peroxymonosulfate activation were consequently proposed. Furthermore, LaFeO3/Al2O3 catalyst exhibited a superior stability after five cycles. This work provides a new approach for design of iron-based perovskite catalysts with high and stable catalytic activity for removal of organic pollutants from aqueous solutions.

RESUMEN

In this experiment, the gradation analysis method was used to evaluate the quality of different pieces of Gardeniae Fructus through the extraction rate difference and the difference analysis of the main components in the extract. In this experiment cold-dip and hot-dip methods were used to compare the yield of Gardeniae Fructus extract and the content of chemical constituents with water,25%,50%,75% and 95% ethanol fractions. By weighted calculation, the optimal extraction method of Gardeniae Fructus was determined, and this was verified by practical application. RESULTS:: showed that for the water-soluble extract, cold dip method was better than the hot dip method; and for alcohol-soluble extract,75% ethanol under cold dip method was best. The verification results showed that water-soluble extracts under cold dip methods could be used to significantly distinguish the raw Gardeniae Fructus( GF) and processed( stir-baked) GF( GFP) collected from the market. Meanwhile, this method could be also used to distinguish the same batch of GF,GFP and carbonized GF( GFC) with significant differences, respectively( P<0. 05). Ethanol-soluble extract can be used to clearly distinguish GFP and GFC pieces in the same batch( P<0. 05). The results of content determination showed that the variation coefficient of components in GF processed products was higher than that in extracts, and the content of hydroxygeniposide was the most significant component between GF and its processed products. It is suggested that the method of water-soluble extract of GF and the determination of the content of gardoside should be combined together to evaluate the quality of GF and its heat processed products.

RESUMEN

Commercially available japonica rice and indica rice with different trade names were collected, and then based on the method of rice stir-frying,their many indexes were evaluated, for example the physical and chemical properties such as appearance color, grain type, broken kernel ratio,length-width ratio,1 000-grain weight, specific heat capacity, moisture content, amylose content, and protein content. The discriminant function analysis was used to determine the effective factors affecting the quality of rice as excipients. The results showed that two types of rice could be distinguished by rice color parameter a*,grain parameter circularity,1 000-grain weight and amylose content. These four effective factors can be used as the quality evaluation indexes for fried rice as excipients.Protein is one of the main components of rice, and its content affects the quality of rice. There is a significant difference in the protein content between japonica rice and indica rice. Therefore, protein content should be used as one of the evaluation indexes for rice quality. After comprehensive consideration,it is suggested that the red-green value a*shall not be less than 0. 50; the circularity not less than 53. 0,the 1 000-grain weight not less than 16. 0 g,the amylose content not less than 12. 0% and the protein content not less than4. 0% in the japonica rice; the red-green value a*shall not be lower than-1. 0,the circularity not less than 41. 0,the 1 000-grain weight not less than 13. 0 g,the amylose content not less than 9. 0% and the protein content not less than 3. 5% in the indica rice. In this study, the quality evaluation standards for rice as excipients( japonica rice, indica rice) were supplemented and improved, laying foundation for the development of quality standards for rice as excipients with the rice stir-frying method.

RESUMEN

The optimal conditions for melanin extraction from Auricularia auricula-judae (Hei 29) fruiting bodies was determined on the basis of the extract yield of melanin, calculated by using a single-factor experiment and response surface methodology. Its antioxidant activities were also studied in vitro. Various optimal process conditions for melanin extraction were determined by using Design-Expert software: incubation temperature, 69.11°C; incubation time, 58.66 minutes; and incubation pH, 12.81. Under these conditions, the melanin yield was 2.59%. We found that the antioxidant activities of A. auricula-judae melanin in vitro were strong against DPPH radicals and superoxide anions. The rate of DPPH radical scavenging was 63.04% when the A. auricula-judae melanin concentration was 0.36 mg/mL; the rate of superoxide anion scavenging reached 39.79% when the concentration was 0.375 mg/mL. However, the antioxidant activity against hydroxyl radicals was somewhat weak; the rate of scavenging reached only 7.47% when the A. auricula-judae melanin concentration was 0.06 mg/mL.

RESUMEN

The qualitative analysis method of ultra performance liquid chromatography tandem quadrupole time of flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS) was established for the chemical constituents in Sanhuang tablets. Waters ACQUITY BEH C18 (2.1 mm×100 mm, 1.7 µm) column was used with 0.1% formic acid solution (A)-0.1% formic acid acetonitrile (B) as the mobile phase for gradient elution. The flow rate was 0.2 mL•min⁻¹; the sample volume was 1 µL and the column temperature was 30 ℃. The high-resolution quadrupole time-flight mass spectrometry was used as detector with electrospray ion source in both positive and negative models, and the dry gas temperature was 325 ℃. Based on the analysis of mass spectrometry and literature reports, 38 compounds were confirmed, including 1 alkaloid, 1 dianthrone compound, 6 tannins, 7 anthraquinone glycosides, 6 anthraquinones and 17 flavonoids. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry method is simple, reliable and rapid to identify the chemical compositions of Sanhuang tablets, and it is helpful to reveal its chemical constituents and pharmacodynamic substances.

RESUMEN

Auricularia auricula-judae is an edible and medicinal fungus ranking fourth in production among the edible fungi cultivated worldwide. White villous disease is rampant in Northeast China; it infects the fruiting bodies of A. auricula-judae by forming a white mycelial layer on its ventral side. The disease not only causes an unacceptable morphological appearance and a poor-quality product, but it also significantly reduces the yield. In this study, based on fungal morphology, ribosomal DNA internal transcribed spacer sequences, identification of species-specific primers, and the pathogenicity of the mycelia and spores, 2 fungal pathogens were isolated and identified as Fusarium equiseti and F. sporotrichioides.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Hyperlipidemia and its complications are among the most harmful of diseases with a worldwide impact, which creates an urgent imperative to find safe and effective drugs for treatment. HG is mainly composed of two kinds of traditional Chinese medicines (TCM), Hong-Qu and gypenosides. Previously, the ingredients of the mixture mainly composed by Hong-Qu and gypenosides (HG) were widely used for purposes of lipid-lowering, antiatherosclerosis effects, and maintaining cardiovascular health in China. The purpose of this study was to determine whether HG provides any benefit to patients with hyperlipidemia. METHODS: Forty-eight adult male Sprague-Dawley rats with fatty liver disease were randomly divided into six groups: normal, model, two positive controls, and two doses of HG-treated groups. The normal rats were fed a basal diet, and the other rats were fed a high-fat diet. Thereafter, the serum lipid profiles, hepatic steatosis, cytokines, enzymes, and relevant mRNA of rats were analyzed in serum, aorta tissue or hepatic tissues, respectively. RESULTS: After 65 days of feeding the high-fat diet to rats, there were significantly disordered serum lipid profiles, elevated oxidative stress biomarkers, and decreased antiinflammatory cytokines in the serum levels. Additionally, aortic foam cell formation was increased. The gene expression levels including hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMGR), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-α), sterol response element-binding protein-1c (SREBP-1c), fatty acid synthase (FAS), acetyl-CoA carboxylase-1 (ACC-1) and carnitine palmitoyl transferase-1(CPT-1) in hepatic tissue were also altered by a high-fat diet fed to Sprague-Dawley rats, and HG treatment significantly resolved and normalized these alterations. Moreover, HG not only caused a significant decrease in the lipid drops on the hepatic tissues, but also restored the antioxidant components. CONCLUSION: HG is beneficial for regulating the stability of blood lipids, has atheroprotective characteristics and may prevent nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), providing more than just a theoretical basis for drug research of cardiovascular disease (CVD) treatment.

RESUMEN

Gardeniae Fructus contains volatile ingredients, however, the species and proportions in different processed products of Gardeniae Fructus are different. In this experiment, volatile ingredients were separated by steam distillation with content of 1.2, 1.0, 0.9, 0.7 µL · g(-1) in Gardeniae Fructus, fried Gardeniae Fructus, stir-baked Gardeniae Fructus, Gardeniae Fructus fried into carbon respectively. One hundred and twenty-four kinds of volatile components were identified by GC-MS. Fifty-three kinds of volatile ingredients consisted in Gardeniae Fructus accounting for 93.85%, 54 kinds in fried Cardeniae Fructus accounting for 92.01%, 32 kinds in stir-baked Cardeniae Fructus accounting for 91.59% and 43 kinds in Gardeniae Fructus fried into carbon accounting for 90.81%. In this paper, analysis of Gardeniae Fructus by GC-MS provides a scientific basis for elucidating the mechanism of different processed products.

RESUMEN

Processed Chinese medicine is the core of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) industry chain, which directly affects the clinical efficacy and. safety of Chinese patent medicine and clinical formula Decoction pieces. Studied the variation of effective substance in vivo Chinese medicine processing before and after processed, clarifying the effective substance and processing principle is a top priority of the development of Chinese medicine processing. The traditional research method chiefly focus on the variation about chemicals in vitro of processed Chinese medicine, it cannot reveal that the integrity and complexity of processed Chinese medicine efficacy changes, so the change process is the focus of future research in vivo on the base of effective substance of TCM This paper described the research on the base of effective substance of TCM and Processed Chinese medicine research status in vitro, discussed the analytical methods (plasma chemistry, pharmacokinetics, metabonomics) of the dynamic process in vivo about processed Chinese medicine, and pointed out development and related problems in process in vivo on the base of effective substance of TCM, which could provided research ideas and methods for in-depth interpretation of Chinese medicine processing mechanism.
