RESUMEN

This study aimed to investigate the causal effect of dietary habits on COVID-19 susceptibility, hospitalisation and severity. We used data from a large-scale diet dataset and the COVID-19 Host Genetics Initiative to estimate causal relationships using Mendelian randomisation. The inverse variance weighted (IVW) method was used as the main analysis. For COVID-19 susceptibility, IVW estimates indicated that milk (OR: 0·82; 95 % CI (0·68, 0·98); P = 0·032), unsalted peanut (OR: 0·53; 95 % CI (0·35, 0·82); P = 0·004), beef (OR: 0·59; 95 % CI (0·41, 0·84); P = 0·004), pork (OR: 0·63; 95 % CI (0·42, 0·93); P = 0·022) and processed meat (OR: 0·76; 95 % CI (0·63, 0·92); P = 0·005) were causally associated with reduced COVID-19 susceptibility, while coffee (OR: 1·23; 95 % CI (1·04, 1·45); P = 0·017) and tea (OR: 1·17; 95 % CI (1·05, 1·31); P = 0·006) were causally associated with increased risk. For COVID-19 hospitalisation, beef (OR: 0·51; 95 % CI (0·26, 0·98); P = 0·042) showed negative correlations, while tea (OR: 1·54; 95 % CI (1·16, 2·04); P = 0·003), dried fruit (OR: 2·08; 95 % CI (1·37, 3·15); P = 0·001) and red wine (OR: 2·35; 95 % CI (1·29, 4·27); P = 0·005) showed positive correlations. For COVID-19 severity, coffee (OR: 2·16; 95 % CI (1·25, 3·76); P = 0·006), dried fruit (OR: 1·98; 95 % CI (1·16, 3·37); P = 0·012) and red wine (OR: 2·84; 95 % CI (1·21, 6·68); P = 0·017) showed an increased risk. These findings were confirmed to be robust through sensitivity analyses. Our findings established a causal relationship between dietary habits and COVID-19 susceptibility, hospitalisation and severity.

Antibacterial nanoagents with well-controlled structures are greatly desired to address the challenges of bacterial infections. In this study, a featherlike tellurium-selenium heterostructural nanoadjuvant (TeSe HNDs) was created. TeSe HNDs produced 1O2 and had high photothermal conversion efficiency when stimulated with 808 nm near-infrared (NIR) light. To create a synergistic treatment system (TeSe-ICG) with better photothermal and photodynamic capabilities, the photosensitizer indocyanine green (ICG) was then added. With a bactericidal rate of more than 99%, the NIR-mediated TeSe-ICG demonstrated an efficient bactericidal action against both Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli) and Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus). In addition, TeSe-ICG was also effective in treating wound infections and could effectively promote wound healing without obvious toxic side effects. In conclusion, TeSe-ICG is expected to be a good candidate for the treatment of bacterial infections.

Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (APP) is the causative pathogen of porcine pleuropneumonia, a highly contagious respiratory disease in the pig industry. The increasingly severe antimicrobial resistance in APP urgently requires novel antibacterial alternatives for the treatment of APP infection. In this study, we investigated the effect of tea polyphenols (TP) against APP. MIC and MBC of TP showed significant inhibitory effects on bacteria growth and caused cellular damage to APP. Furthermore, TP decreased adherent activity of APP to the newborn pig tracheal epithelial cells (NPTr) and the destruction of the tight adherence junction proteins ß-catenin and occludin. Moreover, TP improved the survival rate of APP infected mice but also attenuated the release of the inflammation-related cytokines IL-6, IL-8, and TNF-α. TP inhibited activation of the TLR/MAPK/PKC-MLCK signaling for down-regulated TLR-2, TLR4, p-JNK, p-p38, p-PKC-α, and MLCK in cells triggered by APP. Collectively, our data suggest that TP represents a promising therapeutic agent in the treatment of APP infection.

This study focuses on the application of nurse-led multidisciplinary collaborative therapy (MDT) management model for calciphylaxis prevention of patients with terminal renal disease. Through the establishment of a multidisciplinary management team spanning nephrology department, blood purification center, dermatology department, burn and plastic surgery department, infection department, stem cell platform, nutrition department, pain department, cardiology department, hydrotherapy group, dermatology group, and outpatient treatment room, the distribution of duties among team members were clarified to bring out the best advantages of a multidisciplinary teamwork during treatment and nursing. For patients with calciphylaxis symptoms in terminal renal disease, a case-by-case management model was carried out with the focus on personalised problem. We emphasised on personalised wound care, precise medication care, active pain management, psychological intervention and palliative care, the amelioration of calcium and phosphorus metabolism disorder, nutritional supplementation, and the therapeutic intervention based on human amniotic mesenchymal stem cell regeneration. The MDT model effectively compensates for traditional nursing mode and could serve as a novel clinical management modality for calciphylaxis prevention in patients with terminal renal disease.

Peganum harmala L. is a perennial herb of the Tribulus family and its aerial parts and seeds can be used as medicine in the traditional medicine of China. However, the differences in chemical components and antibacterial activity between different parts have not been reported. In this study, the chemical composition of the different parts of P. harmala was characterized by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and headspace-solid phase microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS). The antimicrobial activities of the different parts and some isolated components were also carried out on 12 bacterial strains and phytopathogenic fungi. The HPLC results revealed that the contents of harmine and harmaline in the seeds were higher than that in the aerial parts. A total of 94 volatile organic compounds (VOCs) were tentatively identified by HS-SPME-GC-MS for the first time. The major components were methyl hexadecanoate, p-xylene, octane, (Z)-9-octadecanoate, ethylbenzene, methyl octadecanoate, ethyl hexadecanoate, and methyl tetradecanoate. At the concentration of 800 µg·mL-1, the methanol extracts of seeds showed stronger antimicrobial activities with a wide antimicrobial spectrum, inhibiting Escherichia coli (ATCC 24433), Xanthomonas oryzae (ACCC 11602), and Xanthomonas axonopodis with inhibitory rates of more than 90%. Furthermore, harmine and harmaline showed better antibacterial activities against all the bacteria. These findings indicated that alkaloids from P. harmala could account for antimicrobial activity, which could be used as lead molecules in the development of new antimicrobial drugs.

The nephrotoxicity of Fructus Psoraleae, an effective traditional Chinese medicine for vitiligo treatment, has been reported. As one of the main toxic components in Fructus Psoraleae, bavachin (BV) was considered to be related to Fructus Psoraleae-caused adverse outcomes, but the direct evidence and molecular mechanism underlying BV-induced nephrotoxicity are not well elucidated. Therefore, this study was designed to confirm whether BV would cause toxic effects on the kidney and explore the possible mode of action. Our results demonstrated that days' treatment with 0.5 µM BV indeed caused obvious renal fibrosis in the zebrafish kidney. The obvious E- to N-cadherin switch and the expressions of proteins promoting epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) were observed in BV-treated human renal tubular epithelial and zebrafish kidneys. In addition, elevated reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and Bip/eIF2α/CHOP-mediated endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and the unfolded protein response (UPR) were caused by BV, both of which could be reversed by ROS scavenger N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC). Also, blocking ER stress-caused cytoplasmic Ca2+ overload with 4-PBA notably alleviated BV-induced alterations in key molecular events related to EMT and renal fibrosis. Furthermore, of the natural compounds subjected to screening, ginsenoside Rb1 significantly downregulated BV-induced ER stress by inhibiting ROS generation and following the activation of Bip/eIF2α/CHOP signaling in HK2 cells. Subsequently, BV-triggered EMT and renal fibrosis were both ameliorated by ginsenoside Rb1. In summary, our findings suggested that BV-induced ROS promoted the appearance of EMT and renal fibrosis mainly via Bip/eIF2α/CHOP-mediated ER stress. This ER stress-related toxic pathway might be a potential intervention target for BV-caused renal fibrosis, and ginsenoside Rb1 would be a promising drug against BV- or Fructus Psoraleae-induced nephrotoxicity.

The radix of Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels (RAS) is widely used in medicinal and dietary applications in China, and has the function for replenishing and invigorating the blood, stopping pain and moistening the intestines. In this study, RAS from the main geoherb regions showed better efficacy in inhibiting Adenosine diphosphate- or arachidonic acid-induced platelet aggregation than those from non-geoherb regions. In addition, the HPLC fingerprints of 30 batches of RAS, as part of the comprehensive evaluation of RAS, were established and used for spectral efficiency to screen the quality markers for anti-platelet aggregation activities. Five compounds in RAS-senkyunolide I, uridine, guanine, ferulic acid and adenosine-were demonstrated to contribute significantly to the anti-platelet aggregation activity. These bioactive compounds, especially senkyunolide I and ferulic acid with stronger activities, could be used as quality markers of RAS for quality control of RAS.

Gastric cancer is one of the most common digestive carcinomas throughout the world and represents high mortality. There is an urgent quest for seeking a novel and efficient antigastric cancer drug. Euphorbia fischeriana Steud had long been used as a traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of cancer. According to the basic theory of traditional Chinese medicine, its antitumor mechanism is 'to combat poison with poison'. However, its effective material foundation of it is still ambiguous. In our previous work, we studied the chemical constituents of E. fischeriana Steud. Jolkinolide B (JB) is an ent-abietane-type diterpenoid we isolated from it. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the antigastric effect and mechanism of JB. Results revealed that JB could suppress the proliferation of MKN45 cells in vitro and inhibit MKN45 xenograft tumor growth in nude mice in vivo. We further investigated its anticancer mechanism. On the one hand, JB caused DNA damage in gastric cancer MKN45 cells and induced the S cycle arrest by activating the ATR-CHK1-CDC25A-Cdk2 signaling pathway, On the other hand, JB induced MKN45 cells apoptosis through the mitochondrial pathway, and ultimately effectively inhibited the growth of gastric cancer cells. These results suggest that JB appears to be a promising candidate drug with antigastric cancer activity and warrants further research.

Patulin (PAT) is a common mycotoxin, widely found in cereals, seafood, nuts, and especially in fruits and their products. Exposure to this mycotoxin has been reported to induce kidney injury. However, the possible mechanism remains unclear. In our study, short-term high-dose intake of PAT caused acute kidney injury (AKI) in mice. We performed high-throughput transcriptional sequencing to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between the treatment and control groups. The ferroptosis signaling pathway had the highest enrichment, suggesting ferroptosis is involved in PAT-induced AKI. Further, the existence of ferroptosis and autophagy was confirmed by observing the changes of mitochondria morphology and the formation of autophagosomes by electron microscopy. And the expression of solute carrier family 7 member 11 (SLC7A11), glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4), p62, nuclear receptor coactivator 4 (NCOA4), and ferritin heavy chain 1 (FTH1) were downregulated, whereas acyl-CoA synthase long-chain family member 4 (ACSL4), transferrin (TF), LC3, and ferritin light chain (FTL) expression were upregulated in PAT-exposed mice. These results suggested autophagy-dependent ferroptosis occurred in the animal model. This view has also been confirmed in the human renal tubular epithelial cell (HKC) experiments. Autophagy inhibitor 3-methyladenine (3MA) attenuated PAT-induced ferroptosis and the iron contents in HKC cells. Simultaneous autophagy-dependent ferroptosis can be inhibited by ferroptosis inhibitors ferrostatin-1 (Fer-1) and desferrioxamine (DFO). In general, this study provides a new perspective for exploring the new mechanism of acute kidney injury caused by PAT.

AIMS: Ginkgo biloba extract (EGb) has been widely applied in the treatment of cerebrovascular and neurological diseases. However, the effect of EGb761 on ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), a vascular disorder and life-threatening complication of in vitro fertilization and intracytoplasmic sperm injection therapy (IVF/ICSI), has not been evaluated. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Forty female Wistar rats aged 22-days old (D22) were divided into eight groups: Control rats received intraperitoneal injection of saline for five consecutive days (D22-D26); OHSS model group received 10 IU equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) for four consecutive days (D22-D25) and 30 IU of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) on the 5th day (D26); Prophylactic treatment group received three doses of EGb761 (50, 100, and 200 mg/kg/day) 1 h before injection of eCG (hCG) for seven consecutive days; Therapeutic treatment group received three doses of EGb761 (50, 100, and 200 mg/kg/day) 48 h after injection of eCG (hCG) for seven consecutive days. RESULTS: All three doses of EGb761 therapeutic medication significantly reduced ovarian mass index of OHSS model rats (p ≤ .01). Furthermore, therapeutic treatment group exhibited improved vascular permeability, decreased estradiol and progesterone levels, lower corpus luteum, and higher follicle numbers compared with the OHSS model. Elevated protein expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and VEGF receptor (VEGFR) in both ovary and kidney of the OHSS model was restrained by EGb761 therapeutic treatment. CONCLUSIONS: EGb761 therapeutic medication decreases vascular permeability in OHSS rat model by inhibiting VEGF and VEGFR expression, which may contribute to the treatment of OHSS.

Streptococcus suis (SS) is an important pathogen in pigs and can also cause severe infection in humans. Currently, more and more drug resistance is reported, resulting in the search for new drugs being needed urgently. Green tea polyphenols (GTP) was reported to inhibit many bacteria. However, SS response to GTP has not been studied before. In this report, the effect of GTP on growth, cell integrity, pathogenicity and metabolic pathway of SS was examined. The GTP inhibited growth, led to cellular damage, and attenuated pathogenicity of SS. Finally, GTP affected many important metabolic pathways of SS, such as ABC transporters, pyrimidine metabolism, protein digestion and absorption. The results provide new insight into the prevention and control of SS infection.

K+ availability is important for growth and quality of tea (Camellia sine sis L.). K solubilising bacteria convert insoluble K to available K. This study was conducted to screen K solubilising bacteria isolated from tea rhizosphere soil in Qimen county, Anhui province, China. The maximum K solubilisation colony (the ratio of diameter halo/colony was 2.54) was identified as Burkholderia sp. (storage number: M2021105) by biochemistry and molecular analysis. Pot experiments (Laterite) showed that the inoculation of Burkholderia sp. significantly improved tea plant height (Zhongcha108, 1 year old) and total polyphenols content by 21.14% and 21.58% compared with the control, respectively. Higher polyphenol level promoted the formation of theaflavin in the fermentation experiments. Further experiments showed that tartaric acid and pryuvic acid produced by Burkholderia sp. are important components associated with K solubilisation in vitro . Burkholderia sp. significantly increased soil available K by 15.12%; however, there was no significant difference in available N and P, and Cu, Mg, Zn and Ca compared with the control. K content in inoculated tea roots and leaves was significantly higher (50% and 10%, respectively) than the control. Compared with the control, exogenous supply of 60mgkg-1 K significantly increased levels of polyphenol (53.97%), theaflavin (16.31%), theaflavin-3-gallate (20%), theaflavin 3'-gallic acid ester (32.24%) and theaflavin 3,3'-gallic acid ester (40.95%). Due to its ability to enable higher available soil K, ur study indicated that Burkholderia sp. have potential to increase total polyphenols content be a bio-inoculant for biofortification of tea.

Seabuckthorn contains flavonoids, tannins, terpenoids, polysaccharides, and vitamins, which have anti-inflammation,anti-oxidation, liver protection, anti-cardiovascular disease, anti-aging, immune enhancing, anti-tumor, and anti-bacterial activities.We reviewed the papers focusing on the chemical constituents, pharmacological activities, and utilization of seabuckthorn. The quality markers(Q-markers) of seabuckthorn were predicted and analyzed based on original plant phylogeny, chemical composition correlation, traditional medicinal properties, pharmacodynamic correlation, traditional and extended efficacy, pharmacokinetics, metabolic processes, and measurable components. With this review, we aim to provide theoretical reference for the quality control and quality standard establishment of seabuckthorn, so as to promote the rational exploitation and utilization of seabuckthorn resources, and improve the healthy and sustainable development of seabuckthorn industry.

This study aimed to explore the changes in functional connections between cerebral hemispheres and local brain regions functional activities in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) treated with International Standard Scalp Acupuncture (ISSA). Thirty patients with middle cerebral artery AIS in the dominant hemisphere were selected and randomly divided into two groups such as the control group and the scalp acupuncture group, with 15 patients in each group. Patients in the control group were treated with conventional Western medicine, while patients in the scalp acupuncture group received ISSA (acupuncture at the parietal midline [MS5], acupuncture at the left anterior parietotemporal oblique line [MS6] and acupuncture at the left posterior parietotemporal oblique line [MS7]) for one course of treatment. All patients were evaluated for treatment efficacy and received whole brain resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging (Rs-fMRI) scan before and after treatment. The observational indicators included: (a) the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores and the simplified Fugl-Meyer Assessment (SFMA) scores; (b) analyses of the amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF), regional homogeneity (ReHo) and voxel-mirrored homotopic connectivity (VMHC). The results showed a significant difference in the NIHSS scores before and after treatment in the scalp acupuncture group compared with the control group (p < .05), indicating that patients improved better after scalp acupuncture treatment. Compared with the control group, the VMHC, ALFF and ReHo values in the scalp acupuncture group increased after treatment. The VMHC values increased in the brain regions dominated by bilateral BA6 and BA8; the ALFF values increased in the left BA39 and the adjacent superior temporal gyrus and middle temporal gyrus; and the ReHo values increased in the brain regions extending from left middle temporal gyrus (including BA21) to BA37, and the brain regions extending from the left BA40 and angular gyrus to BA7. The present study indicated that scalp acupuncture can specifically strengthen the functional activities of the brain regions related to sensory integration, language processing and motor coordination in the middle aged and elderly patients with AIS of the dominant cerebral hemisphere, and can strengthen bilateral frontal lobe motor control. This study may provide a scientific basis for the clinical application of ISSA treatment in patients with AIS, and may also provide a preliminary research basis for further animal experiments.

Cassiae Semen is a widely used herbal medicine and a popular edible variety in many dietary or health beverage. Emerging evidence disclosed that improper administration of Cassiae Semen could induce obvious liver injury, which is possibly attributed to emodin, one of the bioactive anthraquinone compounds in Cassiae Semen, which caused hepatotoxicity, but the underlying mechanisms are not completely understood. Hence, the present study firstly explored the possible role of oxidative stress-mediated mitochondrial dysfunction and ER stress in emodin-cause apoptosis of L02 cells, aiming to elaborate possible toxic mechanisms involved in emodin-induced hepatotoxicity. Our results showed that emodin-induced ROS activated ER stress and the UPR via the BiP/IRE1α/CHOP signaling pathway, followed by ER Ca2+ release and cytoplasmic Ca2+ overloading. At the same time, emodin-caused redox imbalance increased mtROS while decreased MMP and mitochondrial function, resulting in the leaks of mitochondrial-related proapoptotic factors. Interestingly, blocking Ca2+ release from ER by 2-APB could inhibit emodin-induced apoptosis of L02, but the restored mitochondrial function did not reduce the apoptosis rates of emodin-treated cells. Besides, tunicamycin (TM) and doxorubicin (DOX) were used to activate ER stress and mitochondrial injury at a dosage where obvious apoptosis was not observed, respectively. We found that cotreatment with TM and DOX significantly induced apoptosis of L02 cells. Thus, all the results indicated that emodin-induced excessive ROS generation and redox imbalance promoted apoptosis, which was mainly associated with BiP/IRE1α/CHOP signaling-mediated ER stress and would be enhanced by oxidative stress-mediated mitochondrial dysfunction. Altogether, this finding has implicated that redox imbalance-mediated ER stress could be an alternative target for the treatment of Cassiae Semen or other medicine-food homologous varieties containing emodin-induced liver injury.

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Aconite is a processed product of seminal root of perennial herbaceous plant Aconitum Carmichaclii Debx. of Ranunculaceae. It has the effects of warming and tonifying heart yang and restoring yang to save from collapse. Aconitine is the main effective constituent of aconite and used to prevent and treat heart disease. However, how aconitine exerts myocardial protection is still poorly understood. AIM OF THE STUDY: The present study aimed to investigate the effects of aconitine on mitochondrial dysfunction and explore its mechanism of action. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The model of myocardial injury was induced by Angiotensin II (Ang II) (1 × 10-6 mol L-1), and H9c2 cells were incubated with different concentrations of aconitine. The effect of aconitine on mitochondrial was determined by flow cytometry, transmission electron microscopy, luciferase, Seahorse technique and Western blot. The effects of aconitine on sirtuin-3 (Sirt3) activity and Cyclophilin D (CypD) acetylation were detected by immunofluorescence, RT-PCR and co-immunoprecipitation. RESULTS: We demonstrate that aconitine alleviates the energy metabolic dysfunction of H9c2 cells by activating Sirt3 to deacetylate CypD and inhibiting mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP) opening. In cardiomyocytes, aconitine significantly reduced mitochondrial fragmentation, inhibited acetylation of CypD, suppressed the mPTP opening, mitigated mitochondrial OXPHOS disorders, and improved the synthesis ability of ATP. In contrast, Sirt3 deficiency abolished the effects of aconitine on mPTP and OXPHOS, indicating that aconitine improves mitochondrial function by activating Sirt3. CONCLUSIONS: These results showed that aconitine attenuated the energy metabolism disorder by promoting Sirt3 expression and reducing CypD-mediated mPTP excess openness, rescuing mitochondrial function. Improve mitochondrial function may be a therapeutic approach for treating heart disease, which will generate fresh insight into the cardioprotective of aconitine.

A transgenic acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) murine model established by Michael Bishop by cloning a human PML-RARα cDNA into the hMRP8 expression cassette has been widely used in the all-trans retinoid acid and arsenic preparations for the research of APL. However, in the existing literature, the data of regularity and characteristics of the pathogenesis of this model were still missing, which hinder the development of many studies, especially application of new technologies such as single-cell sequencing. Therefore, in this article, we have made up this part of the missing data using an improved APL murine model. We clarified the effects of different inoculation doses on the onset time, latency, morbidity, life span, and proportion of APL cells in peripheral blood (PB), spleen, bone marrow, and so on. The relationship between the proportion of APL cells in the bone marrow, spleen, and PB and organ histological changes was also revealed. These results were a supplement and refinement of this APL model. It would add to the knowledge base of the field and aid in ensuring that accurate models are used for directed interventions. It also provides a great convenience for the researchers who will carry out similar research.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the protective effects and mechanism of Chinese herbal compound Tongxinluo Capsule (, TXL) on the Parkin-mediated mitophagy and the ubiquitin-proteasome system in a rat model of myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI). METHODS: Seventy adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 7 groups: sham group, MIRI group, low- and high-dose TXL (0.5 and 1 g·kg-1·d-1, respectively) groups, atorvastatin (ATV) group (7.2 g·kg-1·d-1), chloroquine (CQ) group (10 g·kg-1·d-1), and highdose TXL + CQ group. After pharmacological administration for 7 days, rats underwent left anterior descending artery ligation surgery to establish the MIRI models with 50 min ischemia followed by 4 h reperfusion. Blood was taken for cardiac troponin I (cTnI) detection and hearts were harvested for infarct staining and apoptosis detection. The autophagy or mitophagy proteins and ubiquitinated proteins were detected by Western blotting. RESULTS: Compared with the sham group, the MIRI group exhibited a larger infarcted area (27.13%±0.01%, P<0.01), a higher apoptotic index (34.33%±2.03% vs.1.81%±0.03%, P<0.01), and higher cTnI expression (14.18±1.01 vs. 7.96±0.32, P<0.01). The mitochondrial integrity was damaged in the MIRI group, while TXL and ATV alleviated the damage of MIRI. More autophagosomes were observed in the high-dose TXL group than in the MIRI group (7.00±0.58 vs. 4.33±1.15, P<0.05). More amounts of PTEN-induced putative kinase protein 1 (PINK1) and Parkin translocated onto the mitochondria were detected in the high-dose TXL group than in the MIRI group (P<0.05). The ubiquitin response was signifificantly downregulated in the high-dose TXL group relative to the MIRI group (P<0.05). CQ administration abolished the activation of autophagy flux and the PINK1/ Parkin pathway induced by high-dose of TXL. CONCLUSIONS: TXL ameliorates MIRI via activating Parkin-mediated mitophagy in rats. The downregulation of the ubiquitin-proteasome system is also involved.
