RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Ischemic stroke (IS) is a serious cerebrovascular disease characterized by significantly elevated mortality and disability rates, and the treatments available for this disease are limited. Neuroinflammation and oxidative stress are deemed the major causes of cerebral ischemic injury. N-Cinnamoylpyrrole alkaloids form a small group of natural products from the genus Piper and have not been extensively analyzed pharmacologically. Thus, identifying the effect and mechanism of N-cinnamoylpyrrole-derived alkaloids on IS is worthwhile. PURPOSE: The present research aimed to explore the antineuroinflammatory and antioxidative stress effects of N-cinnamoylpyrrole-derived alkaloids isolated from the genus Piper and to explain the effects and mechanism on IS. METHODS: N-cinnamoylpyrrole-derived alkaloids were isolated from Piper boehmeriaefolium var. tonkinense and Piper sarmentosum and identified by various chromatographic methods. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced BV-2 microglia and a mouse model intracerebroventricularly injected with LPS were used to evaluate the antineuroinflammatory and antioxidative stress effects. Oxygen‒glucose deprivation/reperfusion (OGD/R) and transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO) models were used to evaluate the effect of PB-1 on IS. To elucidate the fundamental mechanism, the functional target of PB-1 was identified by affinity-based protein profiling (ABPP) strategy and verified by cellular thermal shift assay (CETSA), drug affinity responsive target stability (DARTS), and circular dichroism (CD) analyses. The effect of PB-1 on the NF-κB and NRF2 signaling pathways was subsequently evaluated via western blotting and immunofluorescence staining. RESULTS: The results showed that N-cinnamoylpyrrole-derived alkaloids significantly affected neuroinflammation and oxidative stress. The representative compound, PB-1 not only inhibited neuroinflammation and oxidative stress induced by LPS or OGD/R insult, but also alleviated cerebral ischemic injury induced by tMCAO. Further molecular mechanism research found that PB-1 promoted antineuroinflammatory and antioxidative stress activities via the NF-κB and NRF2 signaling pathways by targeting eEF1A1. CONCLUSION: Our research initially unveiled that the therapeutic impact of PB-1 on cerebral ischemic injury might rely on its ability to target eEF1A1, leading to antineuroinflammatory and antioxidative stress effects. The novel discovery highlights eEF1A1 as a potential target for IS treatment and shows that PB-1, as a lead compound that targets eEF1A1, may be a promising therapeutic agent for IS.

RESUMEN

This meta-analysis aims to systematically investigate the clinical efficacy of Chinese herbal compound dressings in treating patients with diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs). A comprehensive computerised search was conducted in databases including PubMed, Embase, Google Scholar, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Wanfang databases, from database inception to November 2023, to identify randomised controlled trials (RCTs) concerning the use of Chinese herbal compound dressings in patients with DFU. Two researchers independently screened the literature, extracted data, and assessed the quality based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data analysis was performed using Stata 17.0 software. Overall, 18 RCTs involving 1405 DFU patients were included. The analysis indicated that compared to the control group, the group treated with Chinese herbal compound dressings had significantly shorter ulcer healing time (standardised mean difference [SMD] = -2.49, 95% confidence interval [CI]: -3.53 to -1.46, p < 0.001), reduced ulcer surface area (SMD = -3.38, 95% CI: -4.67 to -2.09, p < 0.001), and higher healing rates (odds ratio [OR] = 2.24, 95% CI: 1.72-2.92, p < 0.001) as well as overall effectiveness rates (OR = 4.56, 95% CI: 3.10-6.71, p < 0.001). This study demonstrates that the external application of Chinese herbal compound dressings in patients with DFU can significantly shorten the ulcer healing time and improve wound healing rates.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Licorice extract is an important raw material for food additives and medicine. The quality of licorice extract is dictated by the drying process. The commonly used drying methods of licorice extract are not efficient in obtaining high-quality products so alternative techniques need to be developed and researched. In this study, ultrasound-assisted vacuum drying (UAVD) was first utilized to improve drying efficiency and produce a higher-quality product. The changes in water mobility of licorice extract during drying were characterized using low-field nuclear magnetic resonance. In addition, the effects of ultrasonic power on the drying dynamics, the contents of liquiritin and glycyrrhizic acid, the antioxidant capacity and the microstructure formation of licorice extract during the whole drying process were investigated. RESULTS: The drying times for licorice extract to reach equilibrium moisture content were reduced by 9.09-69.70% with UAVD at 40-200 W compared with that without ultrasonic treatment (0 W). Moreover, the proportions of bound water and semi-bound water in fresh concentrate were 3.75% and 96.25%. It was also found that high ultrasonic power promoted the flow of water and the formation of porous structure in licorice extract, which led to the improvement of drying efficiency. The contents of liquiritin (2.444%) and glycyrrhizic acid (6.514%) were retained to a large degree in the dried product at an ultrasonic power of 80 W. The DPPH inhibition rate of UAVD samples with different ultrasonic powers ranged from 84.07 ± 0.46% to 90.65 ± 0.22%. CONCLUSION: UAVD has the advantages of high efficiency and low energy consumption, which may be an alternative technology for vacuum drying widely used in industry. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMEN

As a beneficial nutrient and essential trace element, selenium plays a significant role in plant growth functions and human protein biosynthesis. Plant selenium enrichment is mainly obtained from both natural soil and exogenous selenium supplementation, while human beings consume selenium-enriched foods for the purposes of selenium supplementation. In this study, different types of selenium fertilizers were sprayed onto Lycium barbarum in Ningxia, and transcriptomics and metabolomics techniques were used to explore the effects of selenium on the fruit differentials and differential genes in Lycium barbarum. Taking the "Ning Qiyi No.1" wolfberry as the research object, sodium selenite, nano-selenium, and organic selenium were sprayed at a concentration of 100 mg·L-1 three times from the first fruiting period to the harvesting period, with a control treatment comprising the spraying of clear water. We determined the major metabolites and differential genes of the amino acids and derivatives, flavonoids, and alkaloids in ripe wolfberries. We found that spraying selenium significantly enhanced the Lycium barbarum metabolic differentiators; the most effective spray was the organic selenium, with 129 major metabolic differentiators and 10 common metabolic pathways screened after spraying. Nano-selenium was the next best fertilizer we screened, with 111 major metabolic differentiators, the same number as organic selenium in terms of differential genes and common metabolite pathways. Sodium selenite was the least effective of the three, with only 59 of its major metabolic differentials screened, but its differential genes and metabolites were enriched for five common pathways.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Consensus methods are crucial in developing clinical guidelines. Different methods, such as the Delphi and nominal group techniques, are commonly used, but there is a lack of detailed instructions on how to implement them effectively. The survey aims to explore the opinions and attitudes of the chair, panel and working group on the critical elements of the consensus methods during guideline development. METHODS: We used a cross-sectional design to conduct this study and sent a structured questionnaire to stakeholders, including the chair, panel members, and working group participants, through the popular mobile phone application WeChat. We selected participants using a combination of purposive and snowball sampling. The questionnaire gathered information on demographics, experiences, opinions, and concerns regarding consensus methods and guideline development. RESULTS: The sample comprised 290 participants representing 31 provinces or municipalities. Among them, the most significant number of respondents (n = 107, 36.9%) were from Beijing. Most participants, specifically 211 (72.76%), held senior professional titles, while 186 (64.14%) adhered to ongoing guidelines. The Delphi method was the most commonly used consensus method (n = 132, 42.31%), but the respondents had only a preliminary understanding of it (n = 147, 47.12%). The consensus process also revealed the insufficiency of involving pharmacoeconomists, patients, and nurses. CONCLUSIONS: Consensus methods have to be standardised and used consistently in the guideline development process. The findings of this study offer insights into diverse roles and more effective ways to apply the consensus process during guideline development.

RESUMEN

In recent years, continuous manufacturing technology has attracted considerable attention in the pharmaceutical industry. This technology is highly sought after for its significant advantages in cost reduction, increased efficiency, and improved productivity, making it a growing trend in the future of the pharmaceutical industry. Compared to traditional batch production methods, continuous manufacturing technology features real-time control and environmentally friendly intelligence, enabling pharmaceutical companies to produce drugs more efficiently. However, the adoption of continuous manufacturing technology has been slow in the field of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) pharmaceuticals. On the one hand, there is insufficient research on continuous manufacturing equipment and technology that align with the characteristics of TCM preparations. On the other hand, the scarcity of talent with diverse expertise hampers its development. Therefore, in order to promote the modernization and upgrading of the TCM pharmaceutical industry, this article combined the current development status of the TCM industry to outline the development status and regulatory requirements of continuous manufacturing technology. At the same time, it analyzed the problems with existing TCM manufacturing models and explored the prospects and challenges of applying continuous manufacturing technology in the field of TCM pharmaceuticals. The analysis focused on continuous manufacturing control strategies, technical tools, and pharmaceutical equipment, aiming to provide targeted recommendations to drive the development of the TCM pharmaceutical industry.

RESUMEN

The Colorado potato beetle (CPB), Leptinotarsa decemlineata (Say), is an extremely destructive notifiable quarantine pest. Over the last two decades, neonicotinoid insecticides, particularly thiamethoxam and imidacloprid, have been used to control it in Xinjiang, and local field populations have developed different levels of resistance in consequence. However, the contributions of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) to neonicotinoid resistance are currently poorly understood in CPB. Previous studies have shown that nAChRα1, α3, α8 and ß1 are major target subunits for neonicotinoids in some model and important agricultural insects including nAChRα1 subunit of L. decemlineata (Ldα1). In this study, the expression levels of Ldα3, Ldα8 and Ldß1 following 72 h of treatments with median lethal doses of thiamethoxam and imidacloprid were compared using real-time quantitative PCR. These genes were then individually and simultaneously knocked down with Ldα1 by RNA interference (RNAi) using a double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) feeding method for six days to explore their roles in CPB susceptibility to imidacloprid and thiamethoxam. The results showed that the expressions of Ldα3, Ldα8 and Ldß1 were significantly decreased by 36.99-74.89% after thiamethoxam and imidacloprid treatments, compared with the control. The significant downregulation of the target genes resulting from RNAi significantly reduced the mortality of adults exposed to thiamethoxam and imidacloprid by 34.53% -56.44% and 28.78%-43.93%, respectively. Furthermore, the adult survival rates were not affected by every dsRNA-feeding treatment, while the body weight of the test adults significantly deceased after four and six days of individual gene RNAi. This study showed that Ldα3, Ldα8 and Ldß1 are down-regulated by thiamethoxam and imidacloprid and play important roles in the tolerance of CPB to neonicotinoids.

RESUMEN

With the rapid development of computer technology, numerical simulation has gradually become an important method to study drying process and improve drying equipment. Using computer to simulate the drying process of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) is characterized by intuitiveness, scientificity, and low cost, which serves as an auxiliary means for technical innovation in TCM drying. This paper summarizes the theories of different drying methods and the research status of numerical simulation in drying, introduces the modeling methods and software of numerical simulation, and expounds the significance of numerical simulation modeling in shortening the research and development cycle, improving drying equipment, and optimizing drying parameters. However, the current numerical simulation method for drying process has problems, such as low accuracy, lack of quantitative indicators for the control of simulation results on the process, and insufficient in-depth research on the mechanism of drug quality changes. Furthermore, this paper put forward the application prospect of numerical simulation in TCM drying, providing reference for the further study of numerical simulation in this field.

RESUMEN

Background: Based on the constitution theroy, infants are classified into balanced constitution (BC) and unbalanced constitution. Yin-deficiency constitution (YINDC) is a common type of unbalanced constitutions in Chinese infants. An infant's gut microbiota directly affects the child's health and has long-term effects on the maturation of the immune and endocrine systems throughout life. However, the gut microbiota of infants with YINDC remains unknown. Herein, we aimed to evaluate the intestinal flora profiles and urinary metabolites in infant with YINDC, find biomarkers to identify YINDC, and promote our understanding of infant constitution classification. Methods: Constitutional Medicine Questionnaires were used to assess the infants' constitution types. 47 infants with 21 cases of YINDC and 26 cases of BC were included, and a cross-sectional sampling of stool and urine was conducted. Fecal microbiota was characterized using 16S rRNA sequencing, and urinary metabolomics was profiled using UPLC-Q-TOF/MS method. YINDC markers with high accuracy were identified using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis. Results: The diversity and composition of intestinal flora and urinary metabolites differed significantly between the YINDC and BC groups. A total of 13 obviously different genera and 55 altered metabolites were identified. Stool microbiome shifts were associated with urine metabolite changes. A combined marker comprising two genera may have a high potential to identify YINDC with an AUC of 0.845. Conclusions: Infants with YINDC had a unique gut microbiota and metabolomic profile resulting in a constitutional microclassification. The altered gut microbiome in YINDC may account for the higher risk of cardiovascular diseases. Metabolomic analysis of urine showed that metabolic pathways, including histidine metabolism, proximal tubule bicarbonate reclamation, arginine biosynthesis, and steroid hormone biosynthesis, were altered in infants with YINDC. Additionally, the combined bacterial biomarker had the ability to identify YINDC. Identifying YINDC in infancy and intervening at an early stage is crucial for preventing cardiovascular diseases.

RESUMEN

Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) has a long history and abundant experience in external therapy, which marks human wisdom. In the early history of human, people found that fumigation, coating, and sticking of some tree branches and herb stems can help alleviate scabies and remove parasites in productive labor, which indicates the emergence of external therapy. Pathogen usually enters the body through the surface, so external therapy can be used to treat the disease. External therapy is among the major characteristic of surgery of TCM. As one of the external therapies in TCM, external application to acupoints smooths the zang-fu organs through meridians and collaterals, thereby harmonizing yin and yang. This therapy emerged in the early society, formed the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, improved in the Song and Ming dynasties, and matured in the Qing dynasty. With the efforts of experts in history, it has had a mature theory. According to modern research, it can avoid the first-pass effect of liver and the gastrointestinal irritation and improve the bioavailability of Chinese medicine. Based on the effect of Chinese medicine and the theory of meridian and collateral, it can stimulate the acupoints, exert regulatory effect on acupoints, and give full play to the efficacy of TCM and the interaction of the two. Thereby, it can regulate qi and blood and balance yin and yang, thus being widely used in the treatment of diseases. In this paper, the use of external application to acupoints, the effect on skin immunity, the regulation of neuro-inflammatory mechanism, the relationship between acupoint application and human circulation network, and the development of its dosage form were summarized through literature review. On this basis, this study is expected to lay a foundation for further research.

RESUMEN

Background: As an increasingly popular complementary and alternative approach for early detection and treatment of disease, traditional Chinese medicine constitution (TCMC) divides human beings into those with balanced constitution (BC) and unbalanced constitution, where damp-heat constitution (DHC) is one of the most unbalanced constitutions. Many studies have been carried out on the microscopic mechanism of constitution classification; however, most of these studies were conducted in adults and rarely in infants. Many diseases are closely related to intestinal microbiota, and metabolites produced by the interaction between microbiota and the body may impact constitution classification. Herein, we investigated the overall constitution distribution in Chinese infants, and analyzed the profiles of gut microbiota and urine metabolites of DHC to further promote the understanding of infants constitution classification. Methods: General information was collected and TCMC was evaluated by Constitutional Medicine Questionnaires. 1315 questionnaires were received in a cross-sectional study to investigate the constitution composition in Chinese infants. A total of 56 infants, including 30 DHC and 26 BC, were randomly selected to analyze gut microbiota by 16S rRNA sequencing and urine metabolites by UPLC-Q-TOF/MS method. Results: BC was the most common constitution in Chinese infants, DHC was the second common constitution. The gut microbiota and urine metabolites in the DHC group showed different composition compared to the BC group. Four differential genera and twenty differential metabolites were identified. In addition, the combined marker composed of four metabolites may have the high potential to discriminate DHC from BC with an AUC of 0.765. Conclusions: The study revealed the systematic differences in the gut microbiota and urine metabolites between infants with DHC and BC. Moreover, the differential microbiota and metabolites may offer objective evidences for constitution classification.

RESUMEN

Scutellariae radix (SR) has been proven to be highly effective in treating inflammation because of its superior medicinal properties. The two main commercial specifications of SR are Kuqin (KQ) and Ziqin (ZQ). According to traditional Chinese medicine theories, KQ has a better effect than ZQ on dispelling upper energizer lung damp heat, however, its mechanism of action is not known. Thus, this study investigated the role of KQ-induced alterations in endogenous metabolites and gut microbiota in regulating LPS-induced acute lung injury (ALI). KQ treatment ameliorated lung injury more effectively than ZQ and demonstrated satisfactory organ protection properties. KQ treatment reversed the tryptophan metabolite abnormalities in ALI and reshaped the composition of gut microbial communities. Additionally, the abundance of the enriched Akkermansia muciniphila was significantly and inversely correlated with the rate-limiting enzyme of the tryptophan/kynurenine pathway, indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 1 (IDO1) activity (p = 0.0214, R2 =0.7712). Furthermore, the beneficial and causative effects of A. muciniphila were confirmed by antibiotic and microbial intervention experiments. Live and pasteurized A. muciniphila, both supplements could ameliorate the inflammatory response and down-regulate IDO1 expression, thereby restoring tryptophan metabolic imbalance. In conclusion, the current study demonstrated for the first time that KQ may act on the A. muciniphila abundance, regulate IDO1 activity, and thus ameliorate ALI. Interestingly, A. muciniphila supplementation could be a promising therapeutic option for lung diseases through the gut-lung axis.

RESUMEN

Although the single role of selenium (Se) or phosphorus (P) in regulating the As contamination of rice plants has been reported in some studies, the combined impacts of Se and P on the fate of As and the underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. To address this knowledge gap, the uptake, translocation, and biotransformation of As mediated by Se were investigated in rice (Oryza sativa L.) seedlings hydroponically cultured with P-normal and P-deficient conditions. The results showed Se addition stimulated the uptake of arsenite and arsenate by 15.6% and 30.7%, respectively in P-normal condition, and such effect was more profound in P-deficient condition with the value of 43.8% and 70.8%. However, regardless of Se addition, P-deficiency elevated the As uptake by 47.0%-92.1% for arsenate but had no obvious effects for arsenite. Accompanying with the As transfer factorShoot/Root reduced by 74.5%-80.2% and 71.1%-85.7%, Se addition decreased the shoot As content by 65.8%-69.7% and 59.6%-73.1%, respectively, in the arsenite- and arsenate-treated rice plants. Relative to the corresponding treatments of P-normal condition, P-deficiency reduced the As transfer factorShoot/Root by 38.9%-52.5% and thus decreasing the shoot As content by 35.2%-42.5% in the arsenite-treated plants; while the opposite impacts were observed in the arsenate-treated plants, in which the shoot As content was increased by 22.4%-83.7%. The analysis results of As species showed As(III) was dominant in both shoots (68.9%-75.1%) and roots (94.9%-97.2%), and neither Se addition nor P-deficiency had obvious impacts on the interconversion between As(III) and As(V). Our results demonstrate the regulating roles of Se in As accumulation mainly depend on P regimes and the specific rice tissues, but the effects of P-deficiency on the fate of As were influenced by the form of As added to the culture.

RESUMEN

Melanoma is a commonly malignant cutaneous tumor in China. Astragalus propinquus Schischkin and Pinellia pedatisecta Schott (A&P) have been clinically used as adjunctive drugs in the treatment of malignant melanoma. However, the effect and mechanism of A&P on melanoma have yet to be explored. The current investigation seeks to characterize the active components of A&P and their potential roles in treating malignant melanoma using network pharmacology and in vitro and in vivo experiments. We first used the traditional Chinese medicine systems pharmacology (TCMSP) database and high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) to identify a total of 13 effective compounds within A&P. 70 common genes were obtained by matching 487 potential genes of A&P with 464 melanoma-related genes, and then we built up protein-protein interaction (PPI) network of these 70 genes, followed by Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analyses. The results revealed that A&P might influence the pathobiology of melanoma through the PI3K/Akt pathway. Molecular docking also confirmed that higher content of ingredients in A&P, including hederagenin, quercetin, beta-sitosterol and stigmasterol, had a strong binding activity (affinity < -5 kcal/mol) with the core targets AKT1, MAPK3 and ESR1. Furthermore, we confirmed A&P could inhibit melanoma cells proliferation and induce cells apoptosis through suppressing the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway by in vitro and in vivo xenograft model experiments. These findings indicate that A&P may function as a useful therapy for melanoma through the PI3K/Akt pathway.

RESUMEN

Due to the characteristics of confusing varieties of Chinese medicinal materials, different sources, complex chemical composition, non-standard preparation process, and non-standard pharmaceutical equipment, the quality of Chinese medicinal preparations is difficult to be controlled and evaluated effectively under the current quality control mode and method of Chinese medicinal preparation. The present study proposed an engineering quality view of Chinese medicine pharmacy and a strategy to control the quality of Chinese medicinal preparations based on the current situation. The "overall, dialectical, and dynamic" multi-factor engineering quality view, covering original medicinal materials, preparation technologies, pharmaceutical equipment, and Chinese medicinal preparations, ensures the traceable process, measurable procedures, and feedback quality. The quality control mode of Chinese medicinal preparation with controllable sources, standardized preparation technologies, green pharmaceutical equipment, and intelligent manufacturing is built up.

RESUMEN

Six new lignans with various type of linkage between two C6-C3 fragments (1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, 3, 4), two new meroterpenoids (5, 6) and 24 known compounds (7-30) were isolated from an EtOH extract of the stems and leaves of Piper puberulum. The absolute configurations of enantiomers 1a and 1b were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, 2a and 2b were determined by comparing their calculated and experimental ECD spectra. Biogenetically, all the new lignans may come from the polymerization of two molecules of hydroxychavicol (30). In the anti-neuroinflammation activity assay, the IC50 values of fifteen compounds were lower than those of the positive control minocycline, and compound 1a showed good activity, but its enantiomer 1b showed no activity. Compound 1a have notable anti-neuroinflammatory activity, and can significantly decrease mRNA levels of proinflammatory cytokines (IL-1ß, IL-6, TNF-α) in a dose-dependent manner.

RESUMEN

Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) is a major cause of acquired adult disability and death. Our previous studies proved the efficacy and effectiveness of Tanhuo decoction (THD) on AIS. However, the therapeutic mechanism remains unclear. We recruited 49 AIS patients and 30 healthy people to explore the effects of THD+basic treatment on the poststroke gut microbiota of AIS patients using 16S rRNA sequencing, in which 23 patients received basic treatment (control group) and 26 patients received THD+basic treatment (THD group). By comparing the data before and after treatments, we found the THD group acquired better outcome than the control group on both clinical outcome indices and the characteristics of gut microbiota. In addition to the mediation on short-chain fatty acid- (SCFA-) producing bacteria in two groups, treatment in the THD group significantly decreased the lipopolysaccharide- (LPS-) producing bacteria to reduce LPS biosynthesis. Besides, the complexity of the cooccurrence of gut microbiota and the competition among LPS-producing bacteria and opportunistic pathogenetic bacteria were enhanced in the THD group. Treatment in the THD group also exhibited the potential in decreasing genes on the biosynthesis of trimethylamine (TMA), the precursor of Trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO), and increasing genes on the degradation of TMA, especially increasing trimethylamine-corrinoid protein Co-methyltransferase (mttB) which catabolizes TMA to methane. These results hinted that THD+basic treatment might exert its efficacy by mediating the gut microbiota and microbial metabolites, including LPS and TMAO that aggravate the sterile inflammation and platelet aggregation. Moreover, the well-fitting regression model results in predicting the clinical outcome with the alteration of gut microbiota proved gut microbiota as a potential indicator of AIS and provided evidence of the communication between the gut and brain of AIS patients.

RESUMEN

Five new flavonol glycosides (1-5), one new phenylpropanoid glycoside (6), and nine known glycosides (7-15) were isolated from the stems and leaves of Neoshirakia japonica. The structures of the new compounds were determined by detailed analysis of spectroscopic data (HRESIMS, 1D and 2D NMR) and acid hydrolysis experiment. The antineuroinflammatory effects of all the isolates were evaluated by inhibiting NO production against LPS-induced BV-2 microglial cells. Compounds 1, 8, and 9 showed more potent inhibitory activities with IC50 values of 2.7, 5.5, and 4.1 µM, respectively, than that of the positive control minocycline (IC50 = 15.6 µM), while compounds 7 (IC50 = 17.0 µM) and 10 (IC50 = 24.3 µM) also displayed inhibitory activities to a certain degree.

RESUMEN

Drying is one of the most common unit operations in the production of traditional Chinese medicine. The drying process of traditional Chinese medicine materials is accompanied by the dynamic reduction of water content. As a key index to determine the end of the drying process, the moisture content of materials plays an important role in improving drying efficiency and saving energy. Recently, the drying process of traditional Chinese medicine is mostly monitored by offline detection, and there are few reports of online moisture detection applications. In this paper, the principle and current application of online inspection technology for the material drying process in different fields were introduced. The significance of online detection technology in drying of traditional Chinese medicine was also analyzed. Meanwhile, the application prospect of online detection technology in the field of drying of traditional Chinese medicine was predicted. In response to urgent transformation and upgrading of the traditional Chinese medicine manufacturing industry, the application of online moisture detection technology is expected to be a key breakthrough in the intelligent upgrading of traditional Chinese medicine drying technology and equipment.

RESUMEN

Preparing wound dressing with dual-delivery of antioxidant and antibacterial agents is highly desirable in clinical wound treatment. Herein, a series of coaxial nanofiber membranes loaded with antioxidant tea polyphenols (TP) in the core and antibacterial ε-poly (L-lysine) (ε-PL) in the shell layer were successfully fabricated by coaxial electrospinning. The physicochemical characterizations by transmission electron microscopy, inverted fluorescence microscopy and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirmed the formation of core-shell structure. The results of in vitro drug release indicated that ε-PL exhibited a fast release profile while TP released in a sustained manner, which is favorable to the achievement of quick bacteria inhibition in the initial phase as well as long-term antioxidant activity during wound healing. The antioxidant activity of coaxial nanofibers was found to be increased with the increment of TP content and incubation time. The antibacterial assays against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus demonstrated that the incorporation of ε-PL in the coaxial nanofibers led to strong antibacterial activity. Additionally, all the coaxial nanofibers possessed good cytocompatibility. Therefore, the prepared coaxial nanofibers simultaneously incorporated with ε-PL and TP are promising as potential wound dressing materials.
