RESUMEN

For many infertile women, their inability to fulfill their aspirations and match society's expectations of motherhood may lead to mental illness. They frequently select in vitro fertilization (IVF) to achieve their wish to have children. In vitro fertilization is actually a multi-dimensional stressor. There are numerous psychological methods to assist patients decrease stress, among which mindfulness-based intervention is a prominent one. However, the effectiveness of mindfulness intervention in this group remains debatable. Therefore, our research seeks to evaluate the efficacy of mindfulness intervention in improving the emotional state of women undergoing in vitro fertilization by systematic review and meta-analysis, so as to provide a novel treatment plan for psychological therapy of this group. A meta-analysis was undertaken by scanning English databases PubMed, Embase, Cochrane library, Web of science, etc. Among them, the retrieval period is from the foundation of the database until July 5, 2022. Two investigators examined the literature according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and conducted meta-analysis using stata15.0 software. Six studies involving 964 infertile women were included. According to the meta-analysis, mindfulness was more effective than the control group in reducing anxiety, depression, and correlations in infertile women [standard mean difference, SMD = -0.31, 95% confidence interval (CI): -0.56 to -0.06], [SMD = -0.94, 95% CI: -1.84 to -0.03], [r = 0.38, 95% CI: 0.25-0.52]. In terms of mindfulness and self-compassion, there was no significant difference between the intervention and control groups [SMD = 0.73, 95% CI: -0.38 to -1.85], [SMD = 0.09, 95% CI: -0.19 to -0.37]. As an intervention strategy for infertile women with anxiety and despair, mindfulness intervention might be a treatment priority.

Streptomyces scabies is the best-characterized plant-pathogenic streptomycete, which is a special species among the large genus Streptomyces. The pathogenicity of S. scabies relies on the production of the secondary metabolite thaxtomin A. Little is known about the molecular mechanisms underlying the regulation of thaxtomin biosynthesis in S. scabies beyond the pathway-specific activator TxtR and the cellulose utilization repressor CebR. The leucine-responsive regulatory protein (Lrp) family modulates secondary metabolism in nonpathogenic streptomycetes. However, the regulatory relationship between the Lrp and pathogenic streptomycetes remains unknown. In this study, we demonstrated that SCAB_Lrp (SCAB_77931) from S. scabies significantly affects thaxtomin biosynthesis, pathogenicity, and morphological development. SCAB_Lrp deletion resulted in a dramatic decline in thaxtomin A production and a low-virulence phenotype of S. scabies. An in-depth dissection of the regulatory mechanism of SCAB_Lrp revealed that it positively regulates the transcription of the thaxtomin biosynthetic gene cluster by directly binding to the promoter of the cluster-situated regulator gene txtR. SCAB_Lrp also controls the morphological development of S. scabies by directly activating the transcription of amfC, whiB, and ssgB. SCAB_Lrp directly controls the transcription of its own gene by binding a specific sequence (5'-GGACAGTCGCCGTGCTACG-3'). Moreover, phenylalanine and methionine have been characterized as SCAB_Lrp effectors by strengthening the binding affinity and complex status between SCAB_Lrp and DNA. Our findings characterize a multifunctional regulatory protein, SCAB_Lrp, that controls secondary metabolism, pathogenicity, and sporulation in S. scabies and provide new insights into the complex regulatory network that modulates thaxtomin phytotoxins in pathogenic Streptomyces.

Drought intensity and frequency have been increased as a result of global warming. Exploring the drought resistance mechanism of Robinia pseudoacacia plantations of different stand ages on the Loess Plateau is crucial for understanding the stability of forest productivity in the region. We investigated anatomical traits, hydraulic function, and non-structural carbohydrate content of the xylem, as well as their association, in R. pseudoacacia plantations of different stand ages in a semi-arid region. The results showed that the vessel diameter, total pit membrane area, pit membrane area, vesture area, and vestured overlap of young and middle-aged stands were larger than those of mature stands, and the pit density was significantly lower in mature stands. Hydraulic conductivity was significantly related to vessel diameter, pit membrane area, and vesture area. Hydraulic conductivities of branches in young, middle-aged, and mature stands were 2.30, 2.12, and 0.76 kg·m-1·s-1·MPa-1, respectively, with embolism values of 54.5%, 53.8%, and 45.1%. Hydraulic conductivity was significantly related to soluble sugar and starch contents. The soluble sugar contents of branches in young, middle-aged and mature stands were 4.9%, 4.2%, and 3.8%, respectively. Xylem growth capacity of R. pseudoacacia in mature stand declined, resulting in the formation of small vessels with many small pits, which reduced hydraulic conductivity while maintaining hydraulic safety, resulting in a decrease of non-structural carbohydrates content. This study revealed the drought response mechanism of R. pseudoacacia plantations with different ages, providing a scientific foundation for the management and nurturing of R. pseudoacacia plantations on the Loess Plateau.

As the high-frequency tumor in women around the world, breast cancer has high mortality due to metastasis tumors making it difficult to cure. Herein, we report a near-infrared (NIR) activated bio-multifunctional thermosensitive hydrogel (denoted as AMDR) with powerful cell killing and immunogenicity amplifying ability. Based on the molecular engineering strategy, a photothermal agent (M-4) with 52.4% conversion efficiency was synthesized. Accordingly, the designed injectable thermosensitive hydrogel AMDR is simply fabricated by the employment of the M-4 photothermal agent, doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX) as the antitumor drug, and imiquimod (R837) as the immunologic adjuvant by self-assembly. Under NIR irradiation, the AMDR hydrogel can generate local mild heat to release DOX for synergistic killing of tumor cells with little damage to normal cells. The immunogenic cell death induced by potent in situ killing combined with heat-released R837 can trigger robust immune response to inhibit and kill metastasis tumors. The developed AMDR hydrogel is successfully applied in the treatment of primary tumors and inhibition of distal tumors of tumor-bearing mice. The study provides a novel strategy and platform for complete treatment of breast cancer and also offers ideas for designing high-efficiency photothermal agents.

Androgen receptor (AR), a ligand-activated transcription factor, is a master regulator in the development and progress of prostate cancer (PCa). A major challenge for the clinically used AR antagonists is the rapid emergence of resistance induced by the mutations at AR ligand binding domain (LBD), and therefore the discovery of novel anti-AR therapeutics that can combat mutation-induced resistance is quite demanding. Therein, blocking the interaction between AR and DNA represents an innovative strategy. However, the hits confirmed targeting on it so far are all structurally based on a sole chemical scaffold. In this study, an integrated docking-based virtual screening (VS) strategy based on the crystal structure of the DNA binding domain (DBD) of AR was conducted to search for novel AR antagonists with new scaffolds and 2-(2-butyl-1,3-dioxoisoindoline-5-carboxamido)-4,5-dimethoxybenzoicacid (Cpd39) was identified as a potential hit, which was competent to block the binding of AR DBD to DNA and showed decent potency against AR transcriptional activity. Furthermore, Cpd39 was safe and capable of effectively inhibiting the proliferation of PCa cell lines (i.e., LNCaP, PC3, DU145, and 22RV1) and reducing the expression of the genes regulated by not only the full-length AR but also the splice variant AR-V7. The novel AR DBD-ARE blocker Cpd39 could serve as a starting point for the development of new therapeutics for castration-resistant PCa.

AIM: We aim to provide available synthesized evidence of the efficacy and safety of auricular acupressure for cancer patients with sleep disturbance. METHODS: Randomized controlled clinical trials (RCTs) were identified from PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, The Cochrane Library, PsycINFO, Chinese Biomedical Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Chongqing VIP, and Wanfang Data, and the search date ranged from the inception of the databases to May 2021. Literature screening and data extraction were independently performed by three researchers. The Cochrane collaboration's tool for assessing the risk of bias was applied to evaluate the risk of bias of the RCTs included. The extracted data were analyzed using Rev-Man 5.4.1 software. RESULTS: Nine trials involving 688 participants met the inclusion criteria and were included in the qualitative analysis; 6 trials involving 485 participants were included in the meta-analysis. Synthesized results showed that auricular acupressure had a significant effect on reducing the total Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) score (MD = -3.88, 95% CI (-5.24, -2.53), P < 0.00001), and the scores of five PSQI components, sleep latency (MD = -0.53, 95% CI (-0.73, -0.32), P < 0.00001), subjective sleep quality (MD = -0.79, 95% CI (-1.05, -0.53), P < 0.00001), sleep duration (MD = -0.50, 95% CI (-0.69, -0.31), P < 0.0001), daytime dysfunction (MD = -0.53, 95% CI (-0.77, -0.29), P < 0.0001), and sleep disturbances (MD = -0.54, 95% CI (-0.60, -0.49), P < 0.00001), were also obviously decreased after the intervention of auricular acupressure. Shenmen and heart were the most commonly selected auricular acupoints, the main intervention durations ranged from 10 to 42 days, and the pressing times of auricular acupoints were 1-6 times a day, 1-5 min each time. One trial reported slight and transient pain caused by auricular acupressure, while the remaining 8 trials did not report obvious side effects. CONCLUSION: Auricular acupressure can significantly improve the sleep quality of cancer patients with sleep disturbance, with no obvious side effects. Rigorously designed clinical trials are necessary for the further support of the clinical application.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture for chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. The review has been registered on the "PROSPERO" website; the registration number is CRD42020151654. METHODS: A comprehensive literature search was performed on 7 electronic databases from the time of inception to March 2020. RCTs studies on acupuncture for CIPN compared with medication or sham acupuncture were included. Statistical analysis was carried out using RevMan 5.3. RESULTS: In total, 19 RCTs covering 1174 patients were enrolled. The results showed that acupuncture significantly increased the effective rate of CIPN compared with medicine and sham acupuncture. And acupuncture had a good effect on the recovery of nerve conduction velocity and improving pain. Among the acupoints involved in the treatment of CIPN, LI4, LI11, ST36, EX10 (Bafeng), and EX-UE 9 (Baxie) were the most commonly used. CONCLUSION: The use of acupuncture in the management of CIPN is safe and effective. The most used acupoints for CIPN are LI4, LI11, ST36, EX10 (Bafeng), and EX-UE 9 (Baxie).

Diseases induced by bacterial infections increasingly threaten the health of people all over the world; thus, it is urgent and significant to early diagnose and effectively eliminate infections to save people's lives. To this end, we synthesized an intelligent hydrogel that integrated in situ visualized diagnosis and photothermal therapy of bacterial infections. By simply and subtly incorporating pH-sensitive bromothymol blue (BTB) and near-infrared (NIR)-absorbing conjugated polymer (termed as PTDBD) into thermosensitive chitosan (CS)-based hydrogel, the synthesized BTB/PTDBD/CS hydrogel can diagnose the acidic microenvironment of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) biofilm and infected wounds by showing visualized color change. After rapid diagnosis, the hydrogel can immediately treat the infection site by local hyperthermia under irradiation of NIR laser (808 nm) and even the stubborn biofilm that is difficult to eradicate. Since the dominating antibacterial mechanism is hyperthermia, the hybrid hydrogel shows broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against Gram-positive, Gram-negative, and drug-resistant bacteria. In addition, it has low cytotoxicity to normal cells and no effect on the main organs of mice. It paves a brand new avenue to develop smart and facile diagnosis and a treatment platform for bacterial infections.

BACKGROUND: Breast cancer is common among women throughout the world and endocrine therapy is an established part of its treatment. But, unfortunately, this has also resulted in intolerable side effects affecting the quality of life. Acupuncture has been widely used to treat endocrine-related side effects in patients with breast cancer, but how long its effect can be maintained has not been published. The systematic review is designed to evaluate the maintenance efficacy of acupuncture for related side effects after breast cancer endocrine therapy. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: We will search for the following databases: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, including China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), WanFang Data, Technology Periodical Database (VIP), and China Biology Medicine (CBM) from inception to May 2020. Two reviewers will search these databases, collect all articles, and assess the quality of studies separately, and there will be no limitations on language. The primary outcomes will be assessed using acupuncture for endocrine-related hot flashes and joint pain duration (1 month, 3 months, 6 months). Measurement tools include the Kupperman index, Brief Pain Inventory Short Form (BPI-SF), the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), the Brief Pain Inventory-Short (BPI-SF). We will use RevMan V.5.3 for meta-analysis and employ the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation System to assess the quality of evidence. RESULTS: This systematic review will evaluate the maintenance efficacy of acupuncture on the side effects of breast cancer endocrine therapy. CONCLUSION: This study will provide high-quality current evidence of how long its effect can be maintained after acupuncture for related side effects after breast cancer endocrine therapy. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: Ethical committee approval is not required for this systematic review as patient data will not be collected. This study will help to inform doctors and researchers on the duration of acupuncture treatment for endocrine-related hot flashes and joint pain. BACKGROUND: Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a condition that commonly following anesthesia and surgery, antiemetics can lead to some side effects in treating PONV. Acupuncture PC6(Neiguan) has been widely used in the prevention and treatment of postoperative nausea and vomiting. However, there still exists controversy towards its effectiveness, appropriate, and effective intervention time. We, therefore, design this meta-analysis to assess the effectiveness and confirm the optimal time of acupuncture PC6 point for PONV. METHODS: The following electronic databases will be searched from their inception to April 2020, including PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, Web of Science, WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, WanFang Database, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, the Chongqing VIP Chinese Science, and Technology Periodical Database. All randomized controlled trials in English or Chinese involving acupuncture PC6 for patients with PONV will be included. Two reviewers will independently responsible for the data extraction, study selection, risk of bias assessment and assessment of study quality. The primary outcome was the number of postoperative nausea, postoperative vomiting and PONV during 0 to 6 hours and after 6 hours of the postoperatively. The secondary outcome is the number of people with side effects and the use of rescue therapy. The meta-analysis will be conducted using RevMan V.5.3.5 statistical software. RESULTS: This systematic review will evaluate the efficacy and appropriateness time of acupuncture PC6 in the treatment of PONV. CONCLUSION: This study will provide high-quality current evidence of the effectiveness and optimal time of acupuncture PC6 point for the patient with PONV. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: Ethical approval is not required; this review will not involve individuals' information. BACKGROUND: A recent study has reported that there are >240 million patients infected with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) worldwide. Once patients with CHB start antiviral treatment, they need to take antiviral drugs for a long period, which may lead to a series of side effects, and the resistance to the antiviral drugs may also emerge. We aim to evaluate the efficacy and safety of kushenin (KS) combined with entecavir (ETV) for chronic hepatitis B. METHODS: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of KS combined with ETV for CHB will be identified from PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, The Cochrane Library, Chinese Biomedical Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Chongqing VIP, Wangfang Data. Literature screening and data extraction will be independently performed by 2 researchers. The cochrane collaboration tool for assessing risk of bias will be applied to evaluate the risk of bias of the RCTs included. The extracted data will be analyzed by Rev-man 5.3.0 software. RESULTS: A high-quality synthesis of current evidence on the efficacy and safety of KS combined with ETV for CHB will be provided in this study. AIM: The aim of this review is to assess the efficacy and safety of tripterygium wilfordii multiglycosides combined with prednisone in the treatment of idiopathic membranous nephropathy. BACKGROUND: Tripterygium wilfordii multiglycosides, a Chinese patent medicine, is widely in-depth research in China, and is proved to have anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effect. It has been extensively used in China for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, such as idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN). However, there has no relevant systematic review studied on its effects and safety been reported. We plan to perform a systematically reviewing to assess the efficacy and safety of tripterygium wilfordii multiglycosides combined with hormones in the treatment of IMN. METHODS: Seven electronic databases will be searched to identify eligible trials. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that compared tripterygium wilfordii multiglycosides combined with prednisone versus standard therapy are included. Methodological quality is assessed using the Cochrane Collaboration Risk of Bias tool. A random- or fixed-effect model is used to analyze outcomes that are expressed as risk ratios (RRs) or mean differences (MD), and the I statistic is used to assess heterogeneity. RESULTS: A high-quality synthesis of current evidence of tripterygium wilfordii multiglycosides combined with prednisone in the treatment of idiopathic membranous nephropathy will be provided in this study. CONCLUSION: This systematic review will provide evidence of whether tripterygium wilfordii multiglycosides is an effective intervention for idiopathic membranous nephropathy.PROSPERO registration number: No.CRD42018118179.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture for perimenopausal depression. METHODS: We searched the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, PubMed, EMBASE, CNKI, VIP Citation Databases, Wan Fang, and online trial registries such as ClinicalTrials.gov for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing the efficacy and safety of acupuncture for perimenopausal depression. Literature screening, data extraction, and determination of the risk of bias were performed by two researchers independently. The extracted data were pooled and meta-analyzed using RevMan5.3 software. RESULTS: In total, 16 RCTs covering 1311 patients were enrolled. Overall, the results showed that acupuncture was more effective in the treatment of perimenopausal depression than antidepressants (OR = 2.68, 95% CI (1.84, 3.90), P < 0.00001). Furthermore, HAMD scores in the manual acupuncture group and electroacupuncture group were lower than those of antidepressants (manual acupuncture vs. antidepressants (MD = -2.35, 95% CI (-2.93, -1.77), P < 0.00001) and electroacupuncture vs. antidepressants (MD = -1.2, 95% CI (-1.92, -0.48), P=0.001)). Data analysis revealed that the treatment effect of acupuncture was more stable than that of antidepressants (MD = -2.4, 95% CI (-3.37, -1.43), P < 0.00001). Moreover, acupuncture was safer than antidepressants based on the incidence of adverse events (OR = 0.23, 95% CI (0.1, 0.52), P=0.0004). But acupuncture has no effect on estrogen levels (P ≥ 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Acupuncture for perimenopausal depression is safe and effective. Moreover, it has more stable long-term effects than antidepressants and hormone replacement therapy (HRT). We recommend acupuncture as a clinical treatment of perimenopausal depression.

Bacterial infections induced by drug-resistant strains have become a global crisis. A membrane-disrupted mechanism is considered as an effective way to kill bacteria with little chance to trigger drug resistance. It is necessary to explore and develop new materials based on the membrane-disrupted mechanism to combat bacterial resistance. Here we report the design of organic nanoparticles based on a polymer (PDCP) as highly effective inhibition and bactericidal reagents. The PDCP is devised to have a hydrophobic skeleton and hydrophilic side chain modified with protonated primary amines, which could self-assemble to form organic nanoparticles (PDCP-NPs). By taking advantage of the large surface to volume ratio of nanoparticles, the synthesized PDCP-NPs have enriched positive charges and multiple membrane-binding sites. Research results display that PDCP-NPs have highly potent antibacterial activity in vitro and vivo, especially for Gram-negative bacteria with low toxicity against mammalian cells. This work design will inspire researchers to develop more membrane-disrupted bactericide and advance the applications of organic nanoparticles in the antibacterial area.

BACKGROUND: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an inflammatory bowel disease. Its onset is typically gradual, usually followed by periods of spontaneous remission and subsequent relapses. Grape seed polyphenols (GSP), a natural product extracted from grape seeds, have strong anti-inflammatory functions. OBJECTIVES: In this study, we investigated whether GSP has an inhibitory effect on UC and its related mechanism or not. METHODS: We induced UC by 2.5% dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) and GSP at different doses (500 and 750 mg/kg body weight per day) was administrated to the mice by gavage. Body weight, diarrhea, and bloody stool were recorded every day to evaluate disease activity index. Hemotoxylin-eosin staining and immunohistochemical staining were used to identify the histological damages and inflammatory infiltration in colon tissues. Real-time polymerase chain reaction was used to evaluate mRNA expression of interleukin (IL)-6, IL-1ß, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and the expression of phosphorylated-signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) and STAT3 were assessed by western blot. The immunofluorescent assay was used to evaluate the apoptosis of intestinal epithelial cells (IECs). RESULTS: GSP could alleviate the loss of body weight, diarrhea, bloody stool, the mucosal damage, and inflammatory infiltration. GSP could also downregulate the mRNA expression of inflammatory cytokines IL-6, IL-1ß, and TNF-α as well as the phosphorylation of STAT3 and ameliorate the apoptosis of IECs. CONCLUSIONS: Our study suggests that GSP has protective effects against DSS-induced UC, which may through suppression of inflammation and apoptosis.

Phototherapy has great advantages in combating bacterial infection, in particular, those therapies mediated by near-infrared light. To advance phototherapy for bacterial infections, a positively charged conjugated polymer (termed PTDBD) with near-infrared light-triggered activity is employed for antimicrobial therapy in this paper. The quaternary ammonium groups in side chains of PTDBD can benefit from the interaction between the polymer and negatively charged membrane of bacteria, and such a structure can also induce the aggregation of bacteria to improve local antibacterial efficiency. Upon single near-infrared light irradiation, simultaneous reactive oxygen species (ROS) and heat generated by the polymer PTDBD can effectively kill bacteria at low treatment concentration (40 µg·mL-1) and low light density (1.0 W·cm-2) toward both Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus) and Gram-negative bacteria (ampicillin-resistant Escherichia coli TOP 10). For fungi (Candida albicans), a higher treatment concentration of PTDBD is needed to kill at the same light density. Finally, the dual phototherapy is also employed to treat the bacteria-infected wound of mice with no tissue damage observed. The integration of positive charges, ROS, and heat provides a highly efficient and broad spectrum antimicrobial strategy for further treatment of bacterial infections in vivo.

BACKGROUND: Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is one of the most common gynecological conditions with no standard modern therapeutic schedule. Some studies have reported the effects of acupuncture in treating PMS, but the intervention time varies. This review evaluated the efficacy of acupuncture for patients with PMS and the appropriate time to initiate acupuncture therapy. The review has been registered on the "PROSPERO" website; the registration number is CRD42018109724. METHODS: A comprehensive literature search was performed on 9 electronic databases from the time of inception to September 2018. RCTs studies on acupuncture for PMS compared with medication, sham acupuncture, or no treatment were included. Statistical analysis and investigation of heterogeneity source were carried out using RevMan5. 3. RESULTS: A total of 15 studies, comprising of 1103 cases, were included. Overall, acupuncture significantly increased the effective rate of PMS compared with medicine and sham acupuncture. Subgroup analyses showed no significant difference among different intervention time to start acupuncture treatment. Among the acupoints involved in the treatment of PMS, SP6, LR3, and RN4 were the most commonly used. CONCLUSIONS: The current meta-analysis reveals that acupuncture leads to better effective rate, but the intervention time has no significant effect on the efficacy of acupuncture treatment for PMS. SP6, LR3, and RN4 are the most commonly used acupoints in treating PMS. However, large-scale, case-control studies with rigorous designs are required to provide more accurate evidence.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been reported to be an effective alternative to combat bacterial infections even those triggered by drug-resistant strains as there is little chance to develop resistance to this therapy. Therefore, it is imperative to design and synthesize a superior photo-active bactericide for the treatment of bacterial infections. Herein, we synthesized three bactericidal activity-tunable conjugated polymers (P1-P3) with various photoactive capabilities and employed them for the treatment of wound infections with little damage to cells; by altering the construction unit of π-conjugated backbone structures with electron-rich and electron-deficient aromatic heterocycles, the optical properties and ability of reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation could be regulated; this resulted in a tunable killing ability. The cationic quaternary ammonium (QA) groups on the side chains endowed the CPs with not only good dispersibility but also a better interaction with the negatively charged membrane of bacteria. The antibacterial experiments towards ampicillin-resistant Escherichia coli TOP10 (E. coli) and the treatment of wound infections in mice indicate that the P1-P3 have varied bactericidal activities; moreover, P3 has been demonstrated to be a human-friendly bactericide with excellent antibacterial capability. It not only acts as a potential bactericide for the practical treatment of infectious wounds, but also offers guidance for the design and structure control of photo-active bactericides.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of butyl alcohol extract of Baitouweng Decoction( BAEB) on Candida albicans biofilms based on pH signal pathway. The morphology of biofilms of the pH mutants was observed by scanning electron microscope. The biofilm thickness of the pH mutants was measured by CLSM. The biofilm activity of the pH mutants was analyzed by microplate reader.The biofilm damage of the pH mutants was detected by flow cytometry. The expression of pH mutant biofilm-related genes was detected by qRT-PCR. The results showed that the deletion of PHR1 gene resulted in the defect of biofilm,but there were more substrates for PHR1 complementation. BAEB had no significant effect on the two strains. RIM101 gene deletion or complementation did not cause significant structural damage,but after BAEB treatment,the biofilms of both strains were significantly inhibited. For the biofilm thickness,PHR1 deletion or complementation caused the thickness to decrease,after BAEB treatment,the thickness of the two strains did not change significantly. However,RIM101 gene deletion or complementation had little effect on the thickness,and the thickness of the two strains became thinner after adding BAEB. For biofilm activity,PHR1 deletion or complementation and RIM101 deletion resulted in decreased activity,RIM101 complementation did not change significantly; BAEB significantly inhibited biofilm activity of PHR1 deletion,PHR1 complemetation,RIM101 deletion and RIM101 complemetation strains. For the biofilm damage,PHR1 gene deletion or complementation,RIM101 gene deletion or complementation all showed different degrees of damage; after adding BAEB,the damage rate of PHR1 deletion or complementation was not significantly different,but the damage rate of RIM101 deletion or complementation was significantly increased. Except to the up-regulation of HSP90 gene expression,ALS3,SUN41,HWP1,UME6 and PGA10 genes of PHR1 deletion,PHR1 complementation,RIM101 deletion,and RIM101 complementation strains showed a downward expression trend. In a word,this study showed that mutations in PHR1 and RIM101 genes in the pH signaling pathway could enhance the sensitivity of the strains to the antifungal drug BAEB,thus inhibiting the biofilm formation and related genes expression in C. albicans.

BACKGROUND: Depression is one of common disease in the female perimenopausal period. It deprives women of their right to work and live normally, and even destroys the happiness of their families. Acupuncture is a promising treatment for perimenopausal depression. METHODS: Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), PubMed, EMBASE, China National Knowledge Internet (CNKI), Chongqing VIP (CQVIP), Wanfang Data, and on-line trial registries such as ClinicalTrials.gov (ClinicalTrials.gov/), European Medicines Agency (EMA)(www.ema.europa.eu/ema/), WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (www.who.int/ictrp) will be searched from establishment of the database until Oct. 2018. There are no restrictions on the language of publication. The randomized controlled trials of acupuncture (electroacupuncture and manual acupuncture) for perimenopausal depression will be included, and all articles will be screened and collected by 2 reviewers independently. Revman 5.3.5 software will be used for meta-analysis. The specific process will refer to the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Review. RESULTS: The efficacy and safety of acupuncture for perimenopausal depression will be comprehensively assessed from the outcomes, including the effective rate, HAMD score, estrogen level and incidence of adverse events. CONCLUSION: This systematic review will provide evidence for whether acupuncture can improve perimenopausal depression. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: There is no requirement of ethical approval, and the review will be reported in a peer-reviewed journal.
