RESUMEN

Objective: To present 15 cases of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) in genitor-urinary system, and analyze the characteristics, diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Methods: The diagnostic and therapeutic process of 15 confirmed cases admitted to Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center between March 2009 and September 2017 were retrospectively analyzed. Of the total cases, 11 cases were diagnosed with cystic IMT with a maximum diameter of 1.0-4.5 cm, 8 cases underwent transurethral resection of bladder tumor(TURBT)and 4 of them underwent partial cystectomy after TURBT and 3 underwent partial cystectomy directly. Two cases were renal IMT with a maximum diameter of 4.0-9.0 cm, one underwent partial nephrectomy and the other accepted radical nephrectomy. One case who was diagnosed with prostatic IMT with a maximum diameter of 3.4 cm underwent transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and postoperative radiotherapy. One case who was diagnosed with perineal IMT with a maximum diameter of 2.1 cm underwent tumor resection. Results: The patients were followed up for 10-32 months with a median time of 27 months. No cases relapsed during the follow-up. Conclusion: Surgery is the preferred method for treating IMT in genitor-urinary system. Retrospective study shows a good prognosis in IMT patients, but a long-term follow-up is still required.

RESUMEN

This retrospective study investigated the impact of neoadjuvant chemotherapy on the number of lymph nodes harvested in patients with T(3)/T(4) gastric cancer. Lymph node counts in 58 patients who received preoperative neoadjuvant chemotherapy were compared with those in 168 patients who received surgery alone. Significantly more patients (n = 14, 24.1%) treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy had < 15 lymph nodes harvested compared with patients (n = 13, 7.7%) treated with surgery alone. A significant correlation between the total number of harvested lymph nodes and the number of metastatic lymph nodes (mLNs) existed in both groups. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy was the only factor associated with the retrieval of < 15 lymph nodes. The number of mLNs was an independent predictive factor for overall survival. Although neoadjuvant chemotherapy decreased the number of lymph nodes harvested, the number of mLNs may still be an acceptable prognostic factor in patients with gastric cancer, following neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

RESUMEN

Chronic exposure to heroin is associated with structural changes in dopaminergic (DA) neurones. The present study examined the effects of a new herbal medicine, U'finer capsule, on the brain corpus striatum and DA systems, comparing pre- and post- treatment in 36 heroin-dependent patients. Neuroimaging studies were performed by using single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) with 99mTc-TRODAT-1 as radiotracer. The results show that U'finer significantly repaired the damaged bilateral corpus striatum, restoring it to a 'panda eye' shape, analogous in size and shape to that of the healthy volunteers. DA transporter (DAT) function in the bilateral corpus striatum was restored to a normal state after recovery from neurotoxic insult. These findings suggest that U'finer is a reliable herbal medicine in the treatment of heroin dependency.

RESUMEN

UNLABELLED: The volume of blood flow (F), its velocity (V) and the internal diameter (D) of patients with uneven pulse (PUP) were determined and compared with control. RESULTS: The F, V and D of PUP were significantly less than those of control respectively (P < 0.001). It provided objective basis for Blood Stasis. Furthermore, the value of spectrum of tongue of PUP were measured. Values of red and orange ray of PUP were less, while those of green and blue ray were more than those of normal subjects respectively. The value of purple ray were negative correlated with F and V. The values of red and orange ray were correlated with F and V. It revealed that uneven pulse and purple tongue existed simultaneously in majority. Combination of the two signs was in favour of the diagnosis of blood Stasis.

RESUMEN

The effects of shen xian sheng mai ye (SXSMY) on experimental sick sinus syndrome (SSS) were observed. By applying 20% formaldehyde to the rabbits' sino-atrial node area, we got the acute animal model of SSS. By observing the rabbits' heart rate (HR), arrhythmia and cardioelectric physiologic index in different periods, the results were as follows: (1) Increasing heart rate: SXSMY could increase rabbits' HR 10-30 times per minute by observing electrocardiogram within 2 hours (P less than 0.05-0.001). (2) Correcting arrhythmia: SXSMY could reduce arrhythmia of sinus nodal arrest and nodal rhythm remarkably. (3) Improving sinus atrial node function: SXSMY could improve sinus node recovery time (SNRT) and sinus atrial conducting time (SACT) with the method of atrial pacing (AP) (P less than 0.01-0.001). But the above results did not appear in atropine and glucose groups.

RESUMEN

The tongue bodies of coronary heart disease (CHD) patients with blood stasis syndrome were looking dull purple in different degree. The authors adopted two kinds of biophysics methods which are tongue spectrophotometer and DM-80-6 superficial tongue blood volume meter. 52 CHD patients with blood stasis syndrome, 50 normal individuals and 26 patients before and after the treatment according to promote blood circulation to remove the blood stasis, were examined. The results were as follows: The purple ray values of the tongue spectrum of the CHD patients with blood stasis syndrome were more than that of normal individuals. Statistics showed significant difference (P less than 0.01). So was the tongue blood volume (P less than 0.01). In the treatment group, the purple ray value of tongue spectrum reduced, and the red ray volume of tongue increased significantly, as well (P less than 0.01). The results suggested that both methods may be quantitative comparative parameters for diagnosis, differentiation of symptoms and signs, and evaluation of the therapeutic effectiveness.

RESUMEN

The purpose of the present work was to evaluate the clinical efficacy and the mechanism of Yi-qi Huo-xue Injection (YHI) in treatment of coronary heart disease. YHI consists of Ginseng, Astragalus and Angelicae Sinensis. The 10% dextrose serves as a placebo. The results were as follows: 1. the frequency and severity of angina episodes were reduced by 90.63%; 2. the ischemic ST-T in ECG was improved in 56.25% of cases; 3. the tolerance to treadmill exercise was increased from 348.50 to 503.50 M.; 4. the left ventricular function was strengthened, PEP/LVET ratio reduced from 0.45 to 0.36, the activity of (Na(+)-K+) ATPase in myocardial cell membrane of rats inhibited by 19.2%; 5. the blood viscosity and erythrocyte electrophoretic time lowered; 6. the adhesion and aggregation of platelet in patients with CHD were inhibited by 27% and 59.4% respectively; 7. the plasma TXB2 level in CHD was reduced from 260.28 +/- 164.4 to 139.29 +/- 57.01 pg/ml; 8. the plasma 6-keto-PGF1 alpha level in CHD was increased from 33.45 +/- 22.5 to 57.48 +/- 13.1 pg/ml, and in rats from 185.77 to 366.33 pg/ml. The differences were all statistically significant (P less than 0.05-0.01) in comparison with the placebo group.
