RESUMEN

The effects of pulsed electric field combined with ultrasound (PEF-US) on the recovery of polyphenols from litchi peels were investigated. In addition, the optimal purification parameters for polyphenol extracts and their biological activities were also explored in this study. Single-factor and orthogonal experiments were used to optimize the extraction conditions of polyphenols. After optimization, the total phenol content (TPC) of the sample extracted by PEF-US was 2.30 times higher than that of the sample extracted by traditional hot-water extraction. The mechanism of PEF-US enhancing polyphenol recovery was also revealed by morphological analysis of the powder surface. LX-7 was the best resin by comparing the purification effect of nine macroporous resins. The optimum conditions for purification of litchi peel polyphenols by LX-7 resin were also optimized through adsorption and desorption experiments. UHPLC-MS and HPLC results revealed that gentisic acid, catechin, procyanidin A2 and procyanidin B1 are four main substances in purified samples. The results of bioactivity experiments showed that the purified polyphenol samples had strong antioxidant and antibacterial activity. Overall, PEF-US is an efficient method for recovering polyphenols from litchi peels. Our study also provides a strategy for the comprehensive utilization of fruit processing waste.

INTRODUCTION: Migraine is a widespread neurological disorder characterised by recurrent moderate-to-severe headaches. These headaches can seriously affect patients' daily life and work, especially during acute attacks when patients often need immediate pain relief. This study aims to assess the immediate analgesic effect of acupuncture for 10 min during acute migraine attacks. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: The study will randomly divide 80 participants into either the acupuncture group or the sham acupuncture group with an allocation ratio of 1:1. Each group will receive 10 min of treatment, and the post-treatment evaluation will be performed after 0, 0-2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 min of acupuncture. The primary outcome is the pain Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score assessed before and after treatment at 10 min. Additionally, secondary outcomes include the pain VAS score assessed at 0-2, 4, 6 and 8 min, blinding assessment and treatment effectiveness expectations scale. Data will be collected at baseline time and the end of treatment (after 10 min). Adverse events during each treatment period will be collected and recorded. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: Ethics approval was obtained from the Ethics Committee of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Yunnan University of Chinese Medicine (2022-008). All participants will provide written informed consent before randomisation. The results of this study will be published in a peer-reviewed journal and presented at conferences. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: Chinese Clinical Trial Registration Center (ChiCTR2200066976).

OBJECTIVE: Neuroinflammation caused by traumatic brain injury (TBI) can lead to neurological deficits. Acupuncture can inhibit neuroinflammation and promote nerve repair; however, the specific mechanism is still unclear. The purpose of this study was to explore whether acupuncture could modulate the M1 and M2 phenotypic polarization of microglia in a rat model of TBI via the toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)/intracellular toll-interleukin-1 receptor (TIR) domain-containing adaptor inducing interferon-ß (TRIF)/myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88) pathway. METHODS: A total of 90 adult male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats, SPF grade, were randomly divided into a normal group, model group and acupuncture group. Each group was further divided into three subgroups (first, third, and fifth day groups) according to the treatment time (n = 10 rats/subgroup). We used the modified neurological severity score (mNSS) method to quantify neurological deficits before and after modeling. We used Nissl staining to observe the pathological changes in brain tissue, flow cytometry to detect the proportion of M1 and M2 polarized microglia in the injured area on the first, third and fifth day, and co-immunoprecipitation (Co-IP) to examine TLR4/TRIF/MyD88 expression in microglia on the first, third and fifth day, as well as expression of the amount of binding of TLR4 with TRIF and MyD88. RESULTS: Compared to the model group, mNSS in the acupuncture group gradually decreased and pathological morphology improved. The proportion of CD11b/CD86 positive cells was decreased, while that of CD11b/CD206 was increased in the acupuncture group. Expression of IP TLR4, IP TRIF and IP MyD88 also decreased in the acupuncture group. CONCLUSION: The results of this study demonstrate that one of the mechanisms through which acupuncture mitigates neuroinflammation and promotes nerve repair in TBI rats may be inhibition of M1 phenotypic polarization and promotion of M2 phenotypic polarization through inhibition of the TLR4/TRIF/MyD88 signaling pathway.

Satellite glial cells (SGCs) tightly surround neurons and modulate sensory transmission in dorsal root ganglion (DRG). At present, the biological property of primary SGCs in culture deserves further investigation. To reveal the key factor for SGCs growth and survival, we examined the effects of different culture supplementations containing Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM)/F12, DMEM high glucose (HG) or Neurobasal-A (NB). CCK-8 proliferation assay showed an increased proliferation of SGCs in DMEM/F12 and DMEM/HG, but not in NB medium. Bax, AnnexinV, and propidium iodide (PI) staining results showed that NB medium caused cell death and apoptosis. We showed that glutamine was over 2.5 mM in DMEM/F12 and DMEM/HG, whereas it was absence in NB medium. Interestingly, exogenous glutamine application significantly reversed the poor proliferation and cell death of SGCs in NB medium. These findings demonstrated that DMEM/F12 medium was optimal to get high-purity SGCs. Glutamine was the key molecule to maintain SGCs growth and survival in culture. Here, we provided a novel approach to get high-purity SGCs by changing the key component of culture medium. Our study shed a new light on understanding the biological property and modulation of glial cells of primary sensory ganglia.

The wide use of high-fat diet (HFD) causes negative effects on flesh quality in farmed fish. l-carnitine, a lipid-lowering additive, enhances mitochondrial fatty acid ß-oxidation. However its roles in alleviating the effects of HFD on flesh quality in fish are unknown. We fed Nile tilapia with medium-fat diet (MFD, 6% dietary lipid), high-fat diet (HFD, 12% dietary lipid) and HFCD supplemented with l-carnitine (HFCD + 400 mg/kg l-carnitine) for 10 weeks. The HFD-fed fish had higher fat deposition, pH value, myofiber density and flesh hardness than those fed on MFD. However, feeding the fish with the HFCD improved lipid catabolism, which increased significantly lactic acid content and myofiber diameter in muscle, thus reduced pH and hardness values. HFCD also reduced endoplasmic reticulum stress and myofiber apoptosis caused by HFD in the fish. Our study suggests that dietary l-carnitine supplementation alleviates the negative effects of HFD on flesh quality of farmed fish.

This study aimed to explore the mechanism of Xiaoyao San(XYS) in the treatment of three diseases of liver depression and spleen deficiency, ie, depression, breast hyperplasia, and functional dyspepsia, and to provide a theoretical basis for the interpretation of the scientific connotation of "treating different diseases with the same method" of traditional Chinese medicines. Traditional Chinese medicine systems pharmacology database and analysis platform(TCMSP) was used to screen the active components of XYS which underwent principal component analysis(PCA) with the available drugs for these three diseases to determine the corresponding biological activities. The targets of XYS on depression, breast hyperplasia, and functional dyspepsia were obtained from GeneCards, TTD, CTD, and DrugBank databases. Cytoscape was used to plot the "individual herbal medicine-active components-potential targets" network. The resulting key targets were subjected to Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes(KEGG) pathway analysis and gene ontology(GO) enrichment analysis. A total of 121 active components of XYS and 38 common targets in the treatment of depression, breast hyperplasia, and functional dyspepsia were collected. The key biological pathways were identified, including advanced glycation and products(AGEs)-receptor for advanced glycation and products(RAGE) signaling pathway in diabetic complications, HIF-1 signaling pathway, and cancer-related pathways. The key targets of XYS in the treatment of depression, breast hyperplasia, and functional dyspepsia included IL6, IL4, and TNF, and the key components were kaempferol, quercetin, aloe-emodin, etc. As revealed by the molecular docking, a strong affinity was observed between the key components and the key targets, which confirmed the results. The therapeutic efficacy of XYS in the treatment of diseases of liver depression and spleen deficiency was presumedly achieved by reducing the inflammatory reactions. The current findings are expected to provide novel research ideas and approaches to classify the scientific connotation of "treating different diseases with the same method" of Chinese medicines, as well as a theoretical basis for understanding the mechanism of XYS and exploring its clinical applications.

BACKGROUND: Atractylodis rhizoma, an aromatic herb for resolving dampness, is used to treat Kidney-related edema in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands years. This herb possesses antioxidant effect. However, it is not yet clear how Atractylodis rhizoma prevents glomerular injury through its anti-oxidation. PURPOSE: Based the analysis of Atractylodis rhizoma water extract (ARE) components and network pharmacology, this study was to explore whether ARE prevented glomerular injury via its anti-oxidation to inhibit oxidative stress-driven transient receptor potential channel 6 (TRPC6) and its downstream molecule calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase IV (CaMK4) signaling. METHODS: Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) was used to analyze ARE components. Network pharmacology analysis was preliminarily performed. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were given 10% fructose drinking water (100 mL/d) for 16 weeks. ARE at 720 and 1090 mg/kg was orally administered to rats for the last 8 weeks. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and malondialdehyde (MDA) level, and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity in rat kidney cortex were detected, respectively. In rat glomeruli, redox-related factors forkhead box O3 (FoxO3), SOD2 and catalase (CAT), podocyte slit diaphragm proteins podocin and nephrin, cytoskeleton proteins CD2-associated protein (CD2AP) and α-Actinin-4, as well as TRPC6, p-CaMK4 and synaptopodin protein levels were analyzed by Western Blotting. SOD2 and CAT mRNA levels were detected by qRT-PCR. RESULTS: 36 components were identified in ARE. Among them, network pharmacology analysis indicated that ARE might inhibit kidney oxidative stress. Accordingly, ARE up-regulated nuclear FoxO3 expression, and then increased SOD2 and CAT at mRNA and protein levels in glomeruli of fructose-fed rats. It reduced H2O2 and MDA levels, and increased SOD activity in renal cortex of fructose-fed rats. Subsequently, ARE down-regulated TRPC6 and p-CaMK4, and up-regulated synaptopodin in glomeruli of fructose-fed rats. Furthermore, ARE increased podocin and nephrin, as well as CD2AP and α-Actinin-4, being consistent with its reduction of urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio and improvement of glomerular structure injury in this animal model. CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that ARE may prevent glomerular injury in fructose-fed rats possibly by reducing oxidative stress to inhibit TRPC6/p-CaMK4 signaling and up-regulate synaptopodin expression. Therefore, ARE may be a promising drug for treating high fructose-induced glomerular injury in clinic.

BACKGROUND: Nutrition plays an important role in maintaining the overall health of older people. Inadequate intake may lead to impaired body function, higher morbidity, and mortality. Oral nutritional supplements (ONS) showed positive effect on the nutritional status of the elderly; however, systematic evidence is currently lacking on the effect of ONS on the elderly with anorexia. AIMS: The current systematic review and meta-analysis included randomized controlled trial (RCT) articles to investigate the effectiveness of ONS on the main aspects of anorexia of aging (AA). METHODS: By using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) method, researchers independently searched PubMed/MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, the Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and other gray literature resources for publications that met the inclusion criteria by October 2020. The Cochrane Risk of Bias Tools were used for quality assessment. The inverse-variance method was used for the fixed model (FM) while the DerSimonian-Laird method was used for the random model (RM). Respective 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs), mean difference (MD) or standardized mean difference (SMD) was used for indices in terms of effect size (ES). RESULTS: 2497 records were found through the systematic search, while 17 RCTs (n = 1204) were included, with a mean age of 81.9 years (range: 74-87 years). Supplementation occurred in the morning, mid-day, and evening, while the times varied from one to three times a day. The results of meta-analysis showed that, generally, ONS had a positive effect on the overall appetite, MD = 0.18, 95% CI (0.03, 0.33), p = 0.02, and consumption, MD = 1.43, 95% CI (0.01, 2.86), p = 0.05; but not significant in terms of other aspects of appetite: hunger, p = 0.73; fullness, p = 0.60; desire to eat, p = 0.80; preoccupation, p = 0.15. Additionally, it showed an increase in the overall energy intake, SMD = 0.46, 95% CI (0.29, 0.63), p < 0.001, in protein intake, SMD = 0.59, 95% CI (0.16, 1.02), p = 0.007, and in fat intake, MD = 3.47, 95% CI (1.98, 4.97), p < 0.001, while no positive effect was found on carbohydrates intake, p = 0.06. Significance differences were also found in the body weight, SMD = 0.53, 95% CI (0.41, 0.65), p < 0.001, and body mass index (BMI), MD = 0.53, 95% CI (0.12, 0.95), p = 0.01. Moreover, subgroup analyses were conducted according to the nutrient density with no positive results showed except for the low-density ONS on overall energy intake. CONCLUSIONS: The results of the present study indicated that ONS had beneficial effects on overall appetite, energy intake, body weight and BMI.

The phytochemical investigation of the stems of Homalium stenophyllum afforded seven new phenolic glycosides (1-5 and 8-9) and two known compounds (6 and 7). Their structures were elucidated by comprehensive analyses of NMR spectroscopic, mass spectrometric data and chemical hydrolysis. Additionally, their anti-inflammatory activities against the NO production in LPS-induced macrophages were evaluated.

Guilingji (GLJ), a traditional Chinese medicine, is of wide concern because of its remarkable antiaging effect with a long application history. It mainly consists of traditional Chinese herbs, that is, Ginseng radix et rhizoma rubra. This study focused on the anti-aging effects of GLJ on natural aging rats and its underlying mechanisms. Morris water maze was used to determine the learning and memory ability of rats. The levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), malondialdehyde (MDA), acetylcholine (ACh), and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) in serum were determined. Furthermore, a 1H-NMR-based serum metabolomics coupled with multivariate data analysis was used to identify potential biomarkers and corresponding metabolic pathways. The results showed that GLJ significantly improved the learning and memorial dysfunctions of natural aging rats. The mechanisms of the anti-aging and memory ameliorative effects of GLJ related to balancing oxidative stress, improving cholinergic system. Its specific mechanism of action may be through regulating pyruvate metabolism and arginine and proline metabolism.

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Guilingji (GLJ), a famous and classical traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) prescription, has been used to extend the lifespan and improve the life qualities of the elderly for hundreds of years in China. AIM OF THE STUDY: We aimed to explore the protective effects of GLJ on the testicular dysfunction of aging rats, as well as the regulating effects of GLJ on the metabolic disturbance and metabolite changes in natural aging rats. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Forty 23-month-old rats were divided randomly into four groups, including the old control group and three groups of GLJ treatment at 37.5, 75, and 150 mg/kg doses, respectively. Additionally, 10 four-month rats were included as the youth control group. Testicular dysfunction was first evaluated by measuring the changes in the wet weights of the testicles, concentration of serum testosterone (T), and morphologic changes of the testis. Subsequently, an 1H NMR-based metabolomics approach coupled with multivariate analysis, including partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) and orthogonal partial least squares-discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA) was applied to monitor the metabolite changes. RESULTS: Compared with the old control group, the wet weights of the testicles and T concentration were significantly increased, while the morphologic abnormality of testicular tissues was improved by a 4-week treatment course with GLJ. Furthermore, compared with the old control group, the urinary levels of alanine, pantothenate, phenylalanine, ß-hydroxybutyrate and pyruvate were significantly decreased after a 4-week treatment course with GLJ. Additionally, we found that amino acid metabolism and pyruvate metabolism were significantly involved in the regulatory effect of GLJ. CONCLUSIONS: The current findings provided, for the first time, sound evidence of the protective effects of GLJ on testicular dysfunction from both biochemical and metabolomics perspectives. The mechanisms of GLJ could be related to regulating amino acid metabolism and pyruvate metabolism. The current study lays an important foundation for further research and for the broad clinical application of GLJ.

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: The quality control of Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is a scientific problem and an industrial issue, which hampers the development of evidence based TCM. The concept of quality markers (Q-markers) is proposed and has been applied to the quality evaluation of TCM based on its clinical efficacy. However, more specific methods are needed to put this idea into practice. The standard decoction is a representative of decoction used in clinical practice and it can be used for the discovery of Q-markers related to the clinical efficacy of TCM. AIM OF THE STUDY: In this study, a systemic strategy was established to discover Q-markers related to the clinical efficacy of TCM Ephedrae Herba (EH), dried stem of Ephedra sinica Stapf. The different processed materials of EH have different clinical applications, though originating from the same medicinal herb. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The standard decoction of each of the processed materials was prepared and a 1HNMR metabolomics approach and total polysaccharide analysis were used to identify potential Q-markers related to the different clinical applications of EH. Correlation analysis was made of the measured biological activity and the holistic chemical profile. RESULTS: The results showed that total polysaccharides and alkaloids were Q-markers for EH preparations. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrates that the standard decoction is a reasonable research objective to explore chemical markers that correlate with the clinical efficacy of TCM.

Fourteen compounds, including rubiprasin D (1), rubiprasin B (2), rubiprasin C (3), oleanolic acid (4), methyl-5-hydroxy-dinaphtho[1, 2-2'3']furan-7, 12-dione-6-carboxylate (5), rubioncolin C (6), mollugin (7), furomollugin (8), 3-amino-2-methoxycarbonyl-1, 4-naphthoquinone (9), 1-hydroxy-2-methyl-9, 10-anthraquinone (10), 2-hydroxy-6-methyl-9, 10-anthraquinone (11), 1, 4-dihydroxy-2-hydroxymethyl-9, 10-anthraquinone (12), 2-hydroxy-1-methoxy-9, 10-anthraquinone (13), and 1-hydroxy-2-methoxy-6-methyl-9, 10-anthraquinone(14), were isolated from the methanol extract of the roots and rhizomes of Rubia oncotricha using various column chromatographies. Their structures were mainly determined on basis of NMR and MS spectroscopic data analyses. Among them, 1 is a new oleanane triterpene, and compounds 2-5, 9 and 11-13 were obtained from this plant for the first time. Cytotoxic and nematicidal activities of all these compounds were evaluated, and the results showed that only 4, 6, 11 and 12 exhibited cytotoxicities against A549, SGC-7901 and HeLa cancer cell lines. The IC50 of 6 were 19.42, 2.74, 8.07 µmol·L⁻¹, respectively.

This present study was to investigate the metabolism and excretion of characteristic polyphenols such as flavonoids and coumarins in urine and feces of rats after intragastric administration of ethanol extracts of Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride and Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium. The urine and feces of rats were collected after intragastric administration of 70% ethanol extracts of Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride and Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium. Rapid resolution liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry (RRLC-QqQ-MSn) was applied to compare the contents of polyphenols in ethanol extract, urine and feces. By comparing with reference substance, 30 polyphenols were identified from the ethanol extracts of Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride and Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, including flavone glycosides, flavones, flavonone glycosides, flavonones, flavonol glycosides, polymethoxyflavones, coumarins, and limonoids and so on. The detection of various types of compounds showed differences in contents between the intestinal metabolism and excretion in the feces after systemic circulatory metabolism and renal excretion. The results showed that the polymethoxyflavones and flavonones were primarily excreted through urine, and the flavonone glycosides and limonoids were primarily excreted through feces. However, coumarins were hardly detected in feces and urine, indicating that coumarins may be metabolized in the body.

The susceptibilities of three field populations of pink stem borer (PSB), Sesamia inferens (walker) to diamide insecticides, chlorantraniliprole and flubendiamide, were evaluated in this study. The results showed that these PSB field populations were still sensitive to the two diamide insecticides after many years of exposure. To further understand PSB and diamide insecticide, the full-length ryanodine receptor (RyR) cDNA (named as SiRyR), the molecular target of diamide insecticides was cloned from PSB and characterized. The SiRyR gene contains an open reading frame of 15,420 nucleotides, encoding 5140 amino acid residues, which shares 77% to 98% sequence identity with RyR homologous of other insects. All hallmarks of RyR proteins are conserved in the SiRyR protein, including the conserved C-terminal domain with the consensus calcium-biding EF-hands (calcium-binding motif), the six transmembrane domains, as well as mannosyltransferase, IP3R and RyR (pfam02815) (MIR) domains. Real-time qPCR analysis revealed that the highest mRNA expression levels of SiRyR were observed in pupa and adults, especially in males. SiRyR was expressed at the highest level in thorax, and the lowest level in wing. The full genetic characterization of SiRyR could provide useful information for future functional expression studies and for discovery of new insecticides with selective insecticidal activity.

Four previously undescribed naphthohydroquinone dimers named rubipodanones A-D, together with 19 known quinones containing three known napthohydroquinone dimers named rubioncolin C, methyl 5-hydroxy-dinaphtho[1,2-2',3']furan-7,12-dione-6-carboxylate and rubialatin B, were isolated from the roots and rhizomes of Rubia podantha. Their structures and absolute configurations were determined mainly by NMR, X-ray diffraction, and computational methods. Rubipodanones C and D, the glycosides of rubipodanone A and a pair of C-3 epimer, are the first identified dimeric napthohydroquinone glycosides from the Rubia plants. All naphthohydroquinone dimers were evaluated for their cytotoxicities against ten tumor cell lines and effects on the tumor-associated NF-κB signaling pathway, and rubioncolin C showed the best cytotoxicity with IC50 value of 1.53 µM and NF-κB inhibitory activity with IC50 value of 2.97 µM. These results also demonstrated that the key roles of C-3 configuration and sugar group for biological activities of rubipodanone C.

This manuscript elaborates on the establishment of a chemotaxonomic classification strategy for closely-related Citrus fruits in Traditional Chinese Medicines (TCMs). UPLC-Q-TOF-MS-based metabolomics was applied to depict the variable chemotaxonomic markers and elucidate the metabolic mechanism of Citrus TCMs from different species and at different ripening stages. Metabolomics can capture a comprehensive analysis of small molecule metabolites and can provide a powerful approach to establish metabolic profiling, creating a bridge between genotype and phenotype. To further investigate the different metabolites in four closely-related Citrus TCMs, non-targeted metabolite profiling analysis was employed as an efficient technique to profile the primary and secondary metabolites. The results presented in this manuscript indicate that primary metabolites enable the discrimination of species, whereas secondary metabolites are associated with species and the ripening process. In addition, analysis of the biosynthetic pathway highlighted that the syntheses of flavone and flavone glycosides are deeply affected in Citrus ripening stages. Ultimately, this work might provide a feasible strategy for the authentication of Citrus fruits from different species and ripening stages and facilitate a better understanding of their different medicinal uses.

Controllable synthesis of coordination polymer (CP) isomers and revealing their structure-property relationships remain enormous challenges. Three new supramolecular isomers have been synthesized by tuning the poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) content in the feed. These supramolecular isomers have the same framework formula of [Cu2 I2 (tppe)] and different architectures from the classical 2D stacking framework to a 3D entangled system with the coexistence of interpenetration and polycatenation, and a 3D topological framework. Interestingly, these CPs could be utilized for capturing iodine molecules. According to multiple complementary experiments and crystallographic analyses, iodine capture is mainly based on halogen-bond interactions in the inorganic {Cu2 I2 } building blocks of the framework. The present study describes a structure-property relationship in supramolecular isomerism with distinct topological structures.

This study is to establish an HPLC fingerprint by HPLC-DAD method and simultaneous quantitative analysis of 17 components of 18 batches of Citrus aurantium and 10 batches of C. sinensis. The separation was performed on an Agilent Poroshell 120 SB-C18 (4.6 mm×100 mm,2.7 µm) column with the gradient elution of methanol-0.1% formic acid water, the flow was 0.6 mL•min⁻¹. The detection wavelength was set at 318 nm. The column temperature was maintained at 30 ℃. The data calculation was performed with similarity evaluation system for chromatographic fingerprint of traditional Chinese medicine (Version 2004A) together with SIMCA-P 13.0 software to clarify the differential marker between these two different species of Aurantii Fructus Immaturus. This method has good precision stability and repeatability that could provide basis for quality control and evaluation of Aurantii Fructus Immaturus.

To compare the differences of essential oils extracted from Curcumae Rhizoma with different origins. The TIC of the essential oils of Curcumae Rhizoma from three different origins recorded by CP(2010) , were investigated by GC-MS combined with automated mass spectral deconvolution and identification system(AMDIS),steps as follow: firstly, overlapped peaks were resolved by AMDIS,secondly, NIST11.L standard MS spectral database combined with retention index were used to assist qualitative analysis, thirdly, the peak area of each split peak were determined by choosing the characteristic fragment ion peak, finally, the relative percentage contents of each compounds were determined through peak area normalization method. The results showed that the components of the essential oils of Curcumae Rhizoma from three origins were different from each other at various degree. In conclusion, the types and content of essential oils could be an indicator to evaluate the quality of Curcumae Rhizoma from different origins and its geoherbalism.
